After having a horrific experience with another groomer resulting in my poor pup getting sick, I was understandably nervous when it came time for him to get his next haircut. We decided to give Petco's grooming services a try and I couldn't be happier with the results! We brought in photos of the cut that we were looking for and were very clear in communicating what we did and did not want. We dropped our little guy off hoping for the best. A couple of hours later, we received a phone call from our groomer, Joseph explaining that our god had some matting on his belly and by his ears. He assured us that this was nothing he couldn't handle and gave us a couple of options before allowing us to choose how we wanted to proceed. Before we knew it, we were on our way to pick him up and he looked fantastic! Not only was he looking very handsome, but he seemed very happy and stress free. The shorter cut around the ears having resulted from the matting ended up looking adorable, and we've decided that we actually prefer this cut for him! This is a review about their adult dog training. We were so lucky because we purchased the class when it was on sale for $60, it was 50% off. We did the adult level 1 training with Ashley. It's a 6 week class and they give you a certificate and some treats at the end. Ashley was so nice and patient with my dog. My dog learned a lot during this course! I'm definitely going to sign her up for level 2 with Ashley when it goes on sale again! Overall, the store is very clean, everything is very organized and the staff is nice! read more

We have been bringing our two dogs here for grooming since they where pups so about 2.5 years. We dropped them off on Saturday and was told it would be longer than expected which was no problem. My husband got the call saying they would be ready in 20 mins. When he got there he told them he was there to pick them up and they said they would be right out in a few mins. Meanwhile I am at home and get a phone call stating one of our dogs was just brought to the ER and they stated they would not be able to tell me any information over the phone. I called my husband who was in the waiting room and he was so confused cause nobody told him anything!!!! He went into them and said why am I being told by my wife that one of our dogs was in the ER. They told him they wherent able to give him information and to head over to the ER and the member of staff with our dog would be able to tell him more information. When he got to the ER the staff member didn't know what happened etc. the vet needed to also find out. I called petco and requested to speak with the groomer. They lady told me she will be with me in two mins... LIEs I waited for 25 mins on hold for the phone to just hang up. I called back multiple times and no answer.. I left a voicemail for them to call me back and 5 days later still no call back. Luckily our dog only had minor injuries to his tongue. But that is absolutely horrible way to treat customers . We understand accidents happen so we just wanted to know the exact story. But never again will we be back. read more

I had an encounter with a women that seemed to be having a bad day. She was really rude and stated I'm not going to give you my name because I only volunteer anyways. I don't think it's correct to treat customers badly just because you volunteer. She is in charge of cleaning after the cats I'm so surprised of she addressed her self I stayed calm and said okay and went straight to the front desk to pay for my items while she followed. I'm extremely cautious about my pup, and after contemplating where to get his next haircut, I decided to give Petco a try. All I can say is WOW. Not only is the customer service within the grooming department great, but my groomer Joseph did AN AMAZING job. I am so extremely happy with how he cut my little Riley. I told Joseph exactly what I wanted, a complete buzz for the summer heat. He was nice enough to actually take the time out to tell me the different option cuts I could do besides just a full buzz. He ended up suggesting a Mohawk, and I was completely in love with the idea. I decided to do a full buzz cut, with a Mohawk, and lion tail. Not only did my dog come out looking amazing, but he was so happy too!!! His Mohawk is the CUTEST thing!!! Did you just get a new puppy? Need shots and checkup. Being first time dog owner, I didn't know any better. Thinking vet is vet. Should be okay. But I saw two vets here when my puppy was less than 16 weeks old. I asked why is my puppy mouth weird, they both shrugged it off and said it's her. I waited out and hope maybe things will be okay but her adult teeth weren't coming in, frustrated with the vets at petco, I went to a local vet. Her teeth are terrible. She's having a lot of problems that petco's BOTH vets neglected to say. She had surgeries to remove her teeth and additional surgery. Come here for shots but please go elsewhere for checkups. Do NOT use their wellness bullshit. They are a joke. read more

Choices are limited if you are food shopping for a cat, unless you're looking for nasty Fancy Feast, which will help your cat balloon to 300 lbs and die early. If you happen to be looking for healthier cat food, there isn't much variety compared to, say, the Union Square Petco. The cat toy section leaves a lot to be desired as well. Only useful if you are in the area and need some pet supplies or food last minute. Their rewards system is a joke. $5 for every $100 spent? Their online ordering system is an even bigger joke. They try to push the larger quantity and more expensive version of a product by making them the only things eligible for same day delivery or promo discounts. Even if you do select items that are all eligible for same day delivery, they sneakily switch it to standard shipping right at checkout time. If you choose store pickup, all of a sudden these items are no longer available or "not eligible". They'll also advertise items as available but then tell you they're not after you already placed the order. My most recent online pickup order contained 6 items. 3 I was told we're not in stock after the fact, and 2 out of the 3 items they did give me were the wrong ones. Terrible experience. read more

We came here shopping for items for our cat. A lot of the items were overpriced, not just compared to online stores where you expect it but also other in person pet stores. The selection was also very limited. We couldn't find a covered cat bed that was to our liking; they only had one option when we went. The organization of the store was a little difficult to figure out and some items were hard to locate. GROOMING REVIEW: I had a terrible experience with the grooming staff here. First they didn't explain the process to me properly and lied about when my dog would be ready. Then, the grooming associate (Charlie) told me over the phone when I checked in to come back in 2 hours. I did. And my dog STILL was not groomed. His fur was wet and they claimed they could not get him dry. When I asked for an explanation why it was 3.5 hours later and my dog was still waiting, Charlie got extremely nasty with me. He said that my dog "bit him, like, 3 times" , which is NOT true. I spoke with my other groomers and they said that has never been an issue for them. My dog has the sweetest temperament and I've never even heard him growl at anyone, let alone bite. When I asked again why they hadn't even cut my dog's hair yet, Charlie kept saying that this is what it's like there and I shouldn't have expected any different. ** Shame on me. Lesson learned. Will NEVER go back there. ** In addition - a manager had to ask Charlie to stop raising his voice to me and to walk away - because that is NOT the way you talk to another human. I was quite calm despite being upset and this man could not be professional and answer questions about MY DOG honestly and calmly. He should not be interacting with humans OR animals. read more

I took my teacup yorkie to get groomed here and she came back with a big bruise on her neck. I didn't notice right away, I took her to the Animal ER in queens Blvd thinking it was a allergic reaction , but the vet told me it was bruise. I went back the next day told them what happened and they gave me a refund for the grooming, week goes by I called and the manager and she said she spoke to the groomer "firmly" about the situation, and of course the groomer denied the whole thing. And that was it no consequences for this terrible groomer. I was told that I would be refunded for the medical expense for the vet visit but that didn't happen either. The groomer is dark skin on the heavy side with short hair, wears glasses and about 5'4. Beware of this place, and please avoid I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else. read more

At this Petco, I find there is a wide variety of food options, especially of the healthy variety. I have a cat, and lately he has been sick, so we've had him on a Limited Ingredient Diet. This location has multiple LID brands to choose from, and even had the brands that our vet recommended. One thing I wish would be better about this Petco, or maybe about all Petco's in general, is I wish there were more options for cats. I feel like in terms of food, it is reasonably equal. However, in terms of toys and treats, I feel like everything is catered more towards dogs. I understand if more money can be made off of having more dog toys, and that there are probably more dog owners coming in on the daily, but I wish there could still be more than one side of an aisle for cat toys. Other than that, I believe this Petco has enough of what I need. It has many more options compared to a couple of other nearby supply places I go to. read more

what a horrible disappointment. Took my dogs here this past weekend for photos with Santa. If you are considering doing this- DO NOT Bother. First off, the Santa Claus was LATE, event was suppose to start at 1 and it didn't start until 130. not that big of a deal if this was the ONLY issue. The staff running this event, had no clue how to keep a line moving or how to improvise. They took about 4 photos of customers and then their printer starts having problems. I waited about 1 hour and 30 mins for basically nothing. I didn't even get a hard copy photo. Santa Claus looked horrible! he was wearing ugly sneakers... not boots. His brown mustache was not covered up by a beard. literally every one I showed the picture (that I took with my lousy cell phone) just laughed and shook their head at how pathetic it looked. The photos they did take weren't even positioned correctly, you can see where the backdrop is standing up. OMG it is such a horrible unprofessional looking photo. I have no clue what the customers behind me had to deal with, but I spent an hour waiting for them to print out my photo. which never happened. The one woman working the printer was rude as can be! Extremely unprofessional.. offered no apology. The manager was better and told me she'd mail me the photo- which was appreciated but the photo was lousy lousy lousy! so turned off by this lousy location, I will NEVER be back. read more

I strongly believe that the crew at this location threatens to harm the Petco brand. They are not trained well in customer service, lack essential knowledge in the products and the store has been uncomfortably FILTHY on more than one occasion. I've been coming here consistently for the 2 years since I got my cat. The store has always been solid--clean, good variety of items, and helpful staff. (The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that my cat's food is often out of stock.) However, today I had a truly 5+ star experience which is why I am reviewing. I had to do a complicated return/exchange which ended up taking about 30 minutes due to various glitches. During that time, (I am mortified to say that) 4 employees had to help us. In spite of the fact that this was likely annoying and certainly time consuming, the staff ensured that I got what was owed me and that I had a great experience. Everyone, especially Marvin and Marshall, was SO nice, patient, genuinely kind, and determined that everything got done right, even if it took a long time. I came into PETCO after adopting a 6 year old cat. I knew nothing about them , as I have always had dogs . The staff was amazing and kind. Brianna the manage is the CAT WHISPERER! She was extremely patient, knowledgeable, and passionate. My mother and I cannot say enough great things about her. She really calmed me down, explained things, spent over an hour with us and quelled my fears and also gave many insightful tips.
