This Petco is a joke. Never have the insects you need for the Beardie they sell you. Excuses and excuses every time and the manager is a waste of breathing air. Suggested that I always miss when the insects come in when I frequent the store several times a week This will be the last time I shop here and take my business across the street easily and spend my hard earned money at Petsmart. Goodbye and good riddance there are empty storefronts in this area and hopefully soon this store will be one of them also. I was watching my cousin's frog a couple of weeks ago while he was traveling and I needed crickets but the pet store closest to the house was out so I ended up at this location. The service is awesome. We recently bought a fish tank and were in the process of stocking it so we've been in multiple times now for miscellaneous supplies as well as new fish. Every single associate that we've encountered has been really friendly and generous with their knowledge. They're our new go-to for supplies. read more

I can't say enough great things about Jana! I frequent the Petco location and another. After talking to the trainers, I felt most confident and comfortable with this location and Jana. SO happy! We rescued our Lab/Pryenees mix from a woman on Facebook. She had pulled the puppies away from their mom too early which caused our dog aniexty. Jana worked with him with such patience over the last few months and he passed his AKC good citizen test today. At the start of the classes we were all so unsure but she never gave up on him. At least TRY and find out if you sell it! Now let's talk about the groomers!!! Oh lord have mercy- Julie, I get it you don't like my pup, I took the hint when you called her spoiled for not wanting to get into the crate-but I mentioned that to you that she JUST flew in from out of state and may be a little traumatized. A couple weeks later I came back again only because I know Petco always has availability on the weekends and I just needed my pup to be washed. WELL Miss Julie said they were "FULLY BOOKED" Saturday and Sunday and there was NO AVAILABILITY. Okay cool, I highly doubted that....she just seemed shady. And yes I know this sounds like I was being paranoid but I just had a feeling she was not being 100% truthful...so I called from my car, Julie answers and I pretended it wasn't me and she says she could fit me in!!!!!!! The beezy lied!!!!!!!! I'm definitely not OKAY with this. I mean it's one thing to not like someone personally but this is your J-O-B. If this was her business ok I get it but it's PETCO lol she can't be picking and choosing "her" customers for personal reasons. read more

Thank you so much to the young groomer working by himself! My dog and I were turned away two different days for my dog's nails to be cut and buffed at the petco in Pflugerville. I was told she was the only employee on staff both days. I simply left and brought my dog to the petco in la frontera and he (the groomer) made my baby's nails look nice short and buffed all by himself. Thank you:) read more

Never had a problem with this petco until today went to get my puppy's nails trimmed and buffed and when after I paid I looked up and she was done so I inspect her nails and they still had unbuffed parts so I took her back to get them re buffed and summer the same lady who did it before got attitude when I asked for this, then I went to find a manager Cody who wasn't anymore help when we went back in she got even a more attitude saying that she had a dog in the tub and she wasn't supposed to leave the dog by itself, so Cody instead of asking why it wasn't done right he looks at me and says she handling it but that wasn't the problem the problem is this is crazy if I paid for a certain service to be done I want it done without attitude read more

Summer is a fantastic groomer!!! She is great with my little pup. I find grooming my dog at Petco super convenient. I drop her off on my lunch break during the week and pick her up on my way home. I moved to Tx from Louisiana and I have had the same groomer for 10 years. She is superb and an excellent groomer. Once I became settled here in Texas I searched the web for groomers and ran across excellent reviews about a groomer named Jack. Well let me tell you, our experience with Jack was wonderful. He interacted with Toy in a professional manner and explained to me everything I needed to know. When I picked Toy up he looked perfect and smelled soooo good. I am extremely happy and pleased to have found Jack and he has a customer for life. Thanks Jack. I really appreciate you. You are the BEST!!!!! read more

Visiting family we needed two things, doggie treats and wild bird seeds. Cranked up the Google map on our S4 cell phone and made our way to this Petco. The staff was very helpful with finding just the right treats for "Sammy", my cousins dog. And we grabed a bag of seeds to fill my aunts feeder. "Sammy" knew we had treats for him as soon as we got out of the car, good treats and very smart dog with a good nose. And the seeds worked great in the feeder bringing several cardinals. Could not be more happy with the goods and help from Petco. read more

Terrible customer service. We bought a very expensive fish from a South location Petco which died shortly after we got it home. I reviewed the return policy online BEFORE going into the store. I took the dead fish in to be returned since their return policy says they will take it back if that doesn't live 30 days. The black girl that was the cashier was very rude from the moment I said I had a return. She told me I had to take it to the store I bought it at. Which the online return policy says nothing about. Then she told me I had to bring a water sample. Which the website says nothing about being required to bring a water sample either. Then she told me she couldn't put it back on the debit card because it was my husband's debit card from our joint account. And even though it was a debit card she would not give me cash back either. So I had to get a store credit to try and go buy another fish. They don't have the fish at that location like the one that we bought. And after the terrible customer service I really have no desire to buy any products from them again. This is why we usually always go to Petsmart. And after this experience, on top of the fact that your prices are always consistently a lot higher than Petsmart's, we will continue to go to Petsmart. Your staff needs an attitude adjustment and your website needs a lot of clarification on your return policy. read more

My daughter and I went inside to find a new pet. We wanted to hold a ferret to see if she would like it. When we asked the guy if we could hold the ferret he said "No, not unless you're 100% sure you want to buy one because it's flu season." And I said "well how do we know if we want to buy it if we haven't gotten to bond with it or hold it?" And he said "usually people do research before buying a pet and then when they are sure they want to buy it, they come in and buy it that day." I will never spend a dime in this store again. I've taken my dog to the Petco grooming salon at La Frontera three times now and I'm very pleased at the services they provide. Both BJ and Ricki take the time to help me figure out exactly what Patch, my Maltese-Shih Tzu, needs and how they can do what's best for him at the best price. This is my first puppy to have on my own and they have helped me feel comfortable leaving him with them. Because his coat is so thick, it gets matted in places and they take the time to work them out rather than just shaving him as the previous groomer did. I'm very pleased with this Petco salon and recommend them highly. read more

11/25/20 Called this morning to make an appointment for a nail trim for my three dogs at the Petco on Parker Dr at La Frontera in Round Rock Texas. Was told nail trims were walk-ins and to just make sure to get there before 6pm. I told groomer that last time we didn't make an appointment I was turned away because they could not take me with three dogs. He assured me this would not happen. I get there and Brooklyn the groomer tells me to come back after 6pm because she can't take me. I tell her I will wait until she is ready (which is over an hour) since moving around with three older dogs is not easy and I asked to speak to the manager. The manager comes over and explained I need to make an appointment for all grooming except nail trims. I explain to the manager that we were here for a nail trim and that I tried to make an appointment but was told they don't make appt for nail trims. She tells me That it will not be a problem for the dogs to get their nails trimmed. She goes to talk to Brooklyn and then comes out to tell us that Brooklyn refuses to trim our dogs nail because she is upset. THIS IS HORRIBLE SERVICE! The manager apologized but she said there was nothing she could do about it. Apprerently Brooklyn is the priority at this store and not the customers. read more

Cody is a very rude employee and should not be allowed to interact with customers! My daughter and I were there to return her hamster. Which by the way the receipt says we have 30 days to return an animal. Once inside the nice sales clerk Lilian asked us how she could help and we said we would like to return the hamster. Lilian asked for help to the front on a return. Once Cody came up to the front he immediately with a rude and condescending tone asked us why we were returning the hamster. We replied that it was very skiddish and we would like to do an exchange. He said they all are skiddish at first in his condescending rude tone. I replied that the one we just bought was very friendly and nice. Without a reply Cody returned the hamster to the back of the store in the rolling ball we returned the hamster in. Came back up to the front handed me the rolling ball and walked off. Very unprofessional and I'm the customer the reason they are in business! By the way they only gave us a refund instead of letting us choose another hamster. We will never visit this store again! read more

My cat got sick on a Sunday morning so we had to take him somewhere that was open...I dont usually like talking bad about places on yelp but this has to be said. The vet who saw my cat told us he had a Kidney infection and that we had 2 choices: put him down or put him on dialysis (which was a bunch of money and "probably wouldnt work anyways"). Well, I dont know about you but I like to give life a chance so we decided to do the dialysis...three years later and the cat has never been healthier!! The vets actually personally apologized to me for suggesting we put him down. It was a scary and extremely unprofessional experience. read more

So our family labradoodle past away 4 years ago, and it has taken that long to get over her. Our kids have been begging the ex and i for another dog ever since. I came in here last night looking for all of the usual puppy stuff needs/wants/toys/bedding. I had already pick up most of the stuff I needed, but I forgot the collar and leash of all things! Walking in here and seeing soooooooo much stuff can be pretty overwhelming, and this is my first experience with an actual puppy. So I find the WALL of collars and I mean like wtf! Why so many? Ummmmm assistance please! Cindy came over, and was very knowledgeable. How does anyone know that much about 200 collars? Anyway she also suggested a different collar once the pup gets larger due to the type of fur he has (standard poodle). I will bring the kids the next time I come in because I think they would like it more than me, but yeah I'm a fan. read more

I have never been compelled to write a review but I was so impressed with the grooming service my dog Shamus got yesterday at Petco in La Frontera. Since adopting Shamus (a Trail Walker Hound) from the shelter my attempts to bathe him have resulted in him acting like he's about to be water boarded, fearing one of us was going to get hurt I turned to a professional. I took him for a bath and nail trim but when I mentioned his excessive shedding, Summer, the groomer, suggested their DE shedding treatment, she took the time to explain the special shampoo, conditioner and the 45 minutes of brushing that would get to the undercoat causing his shedding. I've always recommended taking your pet to groomers weekdays when they're slower if you want to get them in and out faster and as promised Summer called a little over an hour later to say Shamus was ready. Being a short haired dog I didn't expect to see much of a difference, like I used to with my dearly departed Yorkie, Jazz, but Shamus looked amazing and his coat felt like silk and she delivered on her claim, No Shedding! For the first time we can pet with out fur flying everywhere:) Summer was super friendly and Shamus was in the best mood when I came to pick him up I just know that they took great care of him after I left. Thanks Summer for making what is typically a stressful event for dogs a pleasant experience for Shamus, you made a loyal customer and we will definitely be returning for all of our grooming (and dog treat) needs. read more

Went in for help with a type of harness for my dog. Should have known it was going to be less than satisfactory when the first employee said "hi" & walked away. I showed another employee a picture of the harness I was looking for. All the help I got was "the harnesses are over there". Yes, I could see that--big sign & all. I needed HELP not a direction to go. There were tons of harnesses there. She either didn't know or more than likely didn't care. Walked out & will not be back again. read more

I went in today to simply buy my dog a new tag, I swear none of the employees gave me space to shop! The same employees were constantly coming over and getting my lab all stirred up, she is still young and in training to be a service dog, I asked them repeatedly to not let her get to rambunctious and let her jump on them and they consistently reinforced that bad behavior AFTER I asked them several times not to encourage it! They would just "oh she's fine, I don't mind" I don't care if they mind or not I asked you not to interact with my dogs that way and I expect you to listen, and not only that but you should always ask to pet and interact with anyone's dog, NOT ONE EMPLOYEE of the four that came over, asked first! They also gave her treats without asking and because of it she threw up in the store from the junk they fed her. After all of that finally they left me alone for 5 minutes to buy the tag, then of course the tag I picked out could only hold two lines so I asked the cashier if I could just exchange it since I cancelled it before the machine engraved it. He said yes and took it upon himself to show me where the tags are and tell me what tags I should buy for 5 minutes while standing in front of the display where I couldn't even see other options and consistently got in my way again, at that point I was done, I told him to not worry about it because I just wanted a refund, too much trouble for all it was worth. I will never be going here again, or to any petco for that matter. read more

Update: I had a 3 year old dog that I bathed quite often. I would tell him to "Go take a bath" and he would go sit in the bathtub and wait for me. In 3 years I NEVER had a problem with him in the bath. When I moved here I took him to PetCo to get his hair cut and bathed. When I got there the manager was 10 minutes late to the store, plus I had to wait for her to get set up. I showed her how short I wanted my dog's hair (he is a long hair dog) and I left. When I picked him up his hair was so short he looked almost like they had shaved him. When I returned he had his head down like he had been in trouble. I told the lady that is not how short I told her I wanted it and she said it was fine and blew me off. I was so irate and I left. The next week when I went to give my dog a bath at home he would not go into the bathtub. I thought maybe it was a fluke but when I got him into the tub he was mad. He wouldn't let me wash him and he absolutely would not let me touch his head. I do not know what the lady did to my dog but he no longer will lie down and still freaks out when I try to wash his head. It took about 6 months for him to get back to where he was on letting me wash most of his body but it has taken almost 2 YEARS to get him back to letting me wash his head and he still isn't where he was before I took him there. I don't know what she did to him but when it takes him 2 YEARS to overcome it, she must have really done something. I feel like I let my dog down but I have never let anyone else wash him since. read more
