Hills KD care cat food - someone there mixed another RX canned cat food and we had to look at each can to avoid buying wrong food. ALL of the items we went there for was a problem. It is easiest for us to go to ONE stop to shop for all 4 of our pets, unfortunately we will most likely start getting from Chewy.com or Amazon. I spoke with the store manager yesterday. He said he reviewed the video and the groomer did what she was supposed to do. Our dog has patches of fur that are longer than the rest. There is no reason his ears had to be trimmed or his back sagged so short. There were no mats in either place. Now we have to put a jacket on him to protect his skin from the Florida sun. He is still shaking, barely eating, and lethargic. It looks like the groomer was in a rush and shaved him instead taking time to trim him. This is not what we asked for and should have been called before she did it. We are concerned about his physical condition and have a call into the vet. Minimally, we want a refund. read more

I've been taking my mini Goldendoodle to Petco for two years, and Andrea, the stylist, has usually done a great job. She mentioned that my dog is amazing but a little ticklish around her face. However, during our last visit, things took a turn for the worse. Andrea seemed frustrated and told me, "If Maple continues to behave the way she does, we won't be able to groom her here anymore." This came as a shock because she had never indicated there was a problem before, and suddenly, she hit me with this harsh statement. Now, I'm starting to wonder if she's just not a good fit as a stylist because my dog gets extremely anxious when we arrive at the grooming center. I'm trying a different stylist now and won't be going back to Andrea. I can't recommend her. The cat was in and out in under three minutes, which makes me wonder if an exam was actually given. We requested for the cat to be examined for arthritis and we were handed a pamphlet for signs to look for. I could Google that myself - Defeats the purpose of going to a vet. The examiner did not bother telling us about anything. We were handed kind of a syringe at the checkout, telling us that we had to collect the fecal sample ourselves. What A joke of a place. This location recently opened so it's shiny and new! The location is perfect with other new shopping options in the area (or coming), plus, there is plenty of parking. Like any new store, they are working out their kinks. I went in there a few times after opening and it seemed nice enough, but the things I needed were out of stock and/or not stocked yet. Not a big deal since it is a new store. The employees were nice enough and they have a good variety of items overall for all types of furry, wet, slimy, etc. family members. They have competitive prices and even some unique items...like costumes for example. Today's story: This time, I placed an order on line and normally the receiving store is quick to respond. In this case, however, I called 3 hours after placing the order to get the scoop since I hadn't received the email to pick it up yet. The person I spoke to said they'd have it ready when I arrived, but he didn't take my name or the order number. Hmmm! When we got to the store they weren't busy, just cleaning...but they may have been busier earlier in the day. I gave them my info and they were friendly, very apologetic for the tardiness and were truly genuine. I'm sure they are trying to get their groove on and I always appreciate an apology instead of rose-coloring it...this goes a long way with me. I must give kudos to the online ordering option...it is a good deal. Some things you can get for 20% off just by ordering online and picking up in the store. But if you live at a distance like we do...it's all about timing and what else you have to do in the area to make it worth it. But it's definitely worth taking a look at, not to mention they do have the Pals Reward program as well. read more

Most Petco's are fine, this one is disgusting. Went in yesterday 11/11/2023. Immediately upon entering the overwhelming smell or dirty cages and urine hit us. Saw dried blood all over one of the mouse cages. The restroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month. Hand sanitizer completely empty. I always come here to buy crickets for my reptile since it's the closest drive and not a bad price. This is the second time I had problems with this worker though. The first time I went to the front and asked her for crickets she said they were all out even though I heard them. Now today she tells me that she can only do quantity's of 40 because of the manager. The grooming salon is a torture chamber. My dog was supposed to be groomed but we couldn't tell when we picked her up. All we noticed was a urine smell on her. She was terrified and urinated in her cage. NEVER GO THERE. She also had a razor burn on her tummy. We brought one of our dogs in very sick, he sadly didn't have a chance and needed to be Euthanized. Being so close to him, was traumatizing. Then 3 days later our other dog got very sick. This review is for their grooming, specifically Victoria. We took our dog in for a nail trim. When we dropped her off, my husband was asked if he was going to wait in the store and he said no. He was not told that if he left her he'd be charged an extra $15 for a late fee. We didn't get a call or text that she was done, when we came back they charged us. If we had received a call or text or email, or any communication that she was ready we would have picked her up. My husband was asked if he was going to stay and he said no. When this happened they should have told us right away that we'd be charged. I told her we didn't know that she was ready and how would we have known she was ready I'd she didn't get a call. Victoria was rude, wouldn't make eye contact Bd just kept pointing to a sign that said if we're late to pick up there us a charge. I've been taking my dog here for years, since she was a puppy and now we have to find a new groomer over a $15 late fee that she easily could have waived. Terrible customer service. read more

Recently, our pup (Ollie) began displaying symptoms of something akin to a rash or allergic reaction. He began to arbitrarily and vigorously scratch his skin the point of inducing pain and lesions. He had raised bumps or wounds which had coagulated and crusted over. The more he would scratch, the more he would yelp in pain (no pun intended). Having exhausted our layman ideas, we booked him an appointment at Petco on Durbin in St. John's to solve the mystery and ease his pain. From the very beginning, my encounter with this particular location was nothing short of happy-go-lucky. I was running late and called to inform them of my tardiness with full anticipation of judgement, as is the case in many instances. However, Ms. Dee could not have been more cordial and understanding. Her affable demeanor put me at ease and melted away the stress of rushing somewhere in a panic. She was a joy throughout the entire experience: professional and friendly, really put the service in "customer service". Ms. Dee coordinated with the doctors who in turn coordinated with me regarding any updates with Ollie. After the initial exam, I was contacted by Dr. Crouch and given a thorough explanation of possible reasons for Ollie's ailment and asked specific questions related to his condition. After she eliminated possible suspects (shampoo, upholstery, new items in the home, diet, etc.), she concluded that Ollie has an allergic reaction to something outdoors as roughly 3/4's of her patients were exhibiting the same symptoms. Later, I used my knowledge obtained at Petco to inform a friend who's pup had been going through the same issues! Dr. Crouch also gave me 3 specific options of going about taking care of Ollie. She was very candid, which was refreshing, about effects and potency; pricing. I left it to her professional expertise as I got the sense that I wasn't being ripped off or sold a bill of goods so they could squeeze an extra penny out of me. Surprisingly, the cost of the exam, the flu shot, and the medication he was given was only around $120! I fully anticipated walking out -$300+. Ollie was then helped by Dr. Crouch and Dr. Stormi. After our 15 min chat, Ollie's convalescing was underway. It took about 25 minutes or so from the initial exam until Ollie was back with me. This goes by fairly quickly if you pursue the store as there many cool things to see. The store itself is very clean and well managed. All of the employees were quite polite and eager to help in any way they could. After they were satisfied Ollie was okay, I received another call to inform me everything was finished and options to pay. One really cool feature is that it's all touchless and I was able to pay using my phone which was quick and convenient. Ms. Dee called me shortly after and I was reunited with my pup. I will state, unequivocally, this is the first time I have ever picked Ollie up from anywhere without him shaking out of fear or anxiety. In fact, he was wagging his little tail which I found very hearting. Prior to leaving, Doctors Crouch and Stormi made sure I understood how to administer the medication and which possible side effects to watch out for. They gave me a contact number in case anything happens and the following day I received a text to make sure Ollie was fine. He has another appointment two weeks after the first one already set. Given the impeccable customer service I received and the high level of care Ollie received between Ms. Dee, doctors Crouch and Stormi, I cannot stress enough how painless they made this experience. When your pup is under the weather, you stress and hurt. You want to help but are limited. This specific location, with these specific individuals made this such a pleasant and pleasurable experience. They put our mind at ease and helped us relax knowing Ollie is going to be okay. His condition has since improved as the bumps are almost gone and he seldom scratches anymore - No more howling in pain for my little guy. Thank you Ms. Dee, Dr. Crouch, Dr. Stormi for curing our family member, we all sincerely appreciate it. 5/5 stars easy!!!!! Highly recommend this location!!! read more

Today I arrived, notified them that I was parked and waited for my items to be brought out. After 15 minutes of waiting, I decided to just go in and get my order( since the were obviously busy). There was no one in line and I didn't see anyone shopping. I asked the girl at the counter about my order, she tells me "I looked out the window and didn't see your car." I was parked in their 30 minute parking area, which is where they've always told me to park and wait in the past. I stopped by the store to get treats for my puppy and witnessed Solana and another groomer attempting a service on a very stressed out doggie. The dog was displaying aggressive behavior out of fear of being handled. What impressed me was how calm Solana and the other groomer remained and how diligently they attempted to perform the service requested. I watched as they were snipped at & bitten & growled at by a dog that was just being a dog. The other groomer was so professional returning the dog to the owner, with a "all in a day's work" attitude! They did not charge the owner for the partial service they were able to complete. Watching that whole experience made me willing to let them groom my 5 month old puppy. Solana booked my service and I was able to get him groomed within 30 minutes of being a walk-in! Solana was great with my puppy and did an awesome job addressing a matting issue. My puppy got a cool summer cut and received a good report card too!! Highly recommend requesting Solana as a groomer. I am sure they are all fantastic, she just happened to be the one I had to assist me today. Will definitely be personally requesting Solana for future appointments and already have his next bath booked with her!! read more
