Store is great. Took our dog in for bath and grooming. Got ther 1/2 hour before the appointment. When i called 4 hours later and found out our dog still not done I told I was stoppng to pick her up. They quick gave her a bath. The groomung was terrible. They rushed so much the haircut was uneven and they never did take care of her nails. I'll never go back here again. read more

If I could just rate the store I would give them 5 stars. Friendly staff. Clean store. Great! BUT when I take into account the grooming salon things change. I've taken my dogs there twice. The first time was 6 months ago. I took my Pyrenees mix in for a deshedding treatment at 1. They told me she would be ready in about 4 hours. I talked to the groomer and told her that they have to make sure to really dry her paws and ears because she gets bad infections and water makes them worse. At 5 I called and she wasn't ready. At 6 I called and she wasn't ready. Finally at 8:30 I just show up because I mean they close at 9 and you've had my dog way to long. I get there and she's not even done. She is still on the table. Finally at 9 they bring me her and she still has wet paws and ears! I was upset and of course she got an infection in her paws. I never reviewed because I figure okay it's one time. Today I took in another dog for a "mini makeover" just to test out the new stylists before I drop 200 dollars for them to both get fully groomed. I worked with a man named Juan. I told him what I wanted and confirmed it included 15 minutes of brushing, teeth brushing, ear cleaning, and nail trim. My dog wasn't even in the grooming salon ten minutes. I stood there and watch him brush my dog for maybe 4-5 minutes total then trim his nails. They did his ears but they never even touched his teeth! This isn't what I paid for. I was standing there watching him so I don't know how he thought I wouldn't notice that this took half the time it was supposed to and he skipped services I paid for. I was shocked and my boyfriend was pissed but they were busy and I didn't want to cause a scene so I paid, left and called corporate. This STORE is great! This GROOMING SALON is absolutely terrible. read more

An OK pet store, it's really close to me so that's why I go sometimes. But if i have the extra time I'd rather go to petsmart off 1604& culebra. They don't carry dogs food in the bigger bags and they can be a little pricey on certain things. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. We have brought our dog to this location, as well as the location at 410 for grooming services over the past several years. All has always gone well. The last time we brought him to this location a few months ago, the groomer that handled him did not seem happy and said some snarky things to us about the dog. We just chalked it up to her having a bad day. After all, this was ONE groomer, ONE time that had a bad experience with our dog. Recently, I scheduled an appointment with this location to bring him in for a bath, etc. They happily scheduled the appointment. I drove to the appointment, and walked in with my dog. We stood at the counter for at least five minutes before anyone came to talk with us. When someone finally came up, the lady was clearly not pleased to talk with me. I told her I had an appointment, and gave the time and name of my dog. She asked if I got her voice message that she left, to which I replied, "no". She proceeds to tell me that the previous groomer left some ugly notes in our file, and they will no longer be accepting my dog for service...and furthermore, advised me not to try taking him to any petco ever again, because he will not be welcome. Our dog has NEVER hurt anyone. The only thing we can figure is that the previous groomer has a predisposition to big dogs/or she was rough with him and he acted accordingly. We have never had an issue with him biting anyone...EVER. He is around other pets, lots of kids, and is a very lovable guy. Our issue is how Petco is so unprofessional. First of all, it was one time that there was a problem...with one groomer, over the course of YEARS. Secondly, if there was going to be an issue with bringing him back, why was this not mentioned when we picked him up last time? And why did they make a new appointment if he has been banned? Also, I double checked my phone. There was never a missed call from Petco, no voice mail, no nothing. I find their honesty regarding the phone call to be questionable, so what makes me believe that my dog hurt anyone? I do not believe that he did, unless he was provoked. If Petco does not want our business, that is fine. We will not spend another dime there. read more

I have always used this particular Petco store for all of my pet-related needs, however after this experience that I have had this week, I might take my business elsewhere. I asked two different employees where this particular dog food might be located or if they had gotten rid of the item, and both of them completely ignored me! I didn't catch the name of the first young lady, but the second one, "Kaylee", with the brown hair told me she was busy, and then proceeded to text on her phone!! She did not even look up to acknowledge me. I work in customer service, and I would NEVER treat my customers like that. Really expected better from this place. read more

I came on New Year's Eve. I was approached by a woman who seemed as if her face would crack if she greeted with a smile and hated her job. We had to create an account in order to get my dogs nails clipped. Another process where she seemed annoyed. The other groomer came out (Tony) and not only did she greet my puppy (1yo) but she smiled when approaching her and myself when taking the lead. I watched her as she clipped my puppy's nails. Though my puppy was jumpy, she handled her with patience and kindness. And ion returning my pup to me she again smiled. My critique and advise for them is practice your customer service manners. A simple smile and hello with a positive attitude can go a long way. I will not be returning to this location. And you received a 2star because of Tony... read more

When calling to make an appointment for my dog two weeks ago, I had difficulty with the individual on the phone. I don't know if she couldn't hear well but she was yelling at me the whole time. She also couldn't seem to understand the difference between "Saturday" and "Monday". Every time I would try to talk and answer her question, she would continue to yell over me. This phone call lasted almost 10 minutes for something that should have taken no longer than 5. I also repeated the date and time repeatedly to make sure she, and I, had it correct. Right after the phone call I put it in my calendar. Needless to say I was a little worried. Turns out I was correct in worrying. It took me 45 minutes with traffic to get there. Upon arriving they tell me there is no appointment for us and all of the groomers are fully booked. At this point I am livid. They asked if I wanted to make another appointment. Are you serious?! I will not be taking my animals back here again. read more

If you like good customer service from the time you walk in then this is "NOT" the place for you. We took our dog to get bathed, groomed, and all the good stuff and we received very rude service. The lady that took our puppy had a whatever attitude - "you're in the wrong business, lady" So I was like whatever maybe she had a rough morning but when we went to go pick her up we received the same rude attitude. We were waiting there for like five minutes before a lady that didn't even seem like she was working there said "can I help you" (in a rude I hate my job voice) We told her that we were there to pick up our puppy and she looked at us with a confused look on her face. I'm like really? Then another employee approached us and helped us out. This is how they treat VETERANS and their best friends. How disappointed we were with this store. There is no respect for VETERANS anymore. How sad. I will never go back to this store and I will not recommend this store to anyone. Dear Management, choose and hire your employees wisely. Customer service is your number one priority. Remember that it's US the customers who make your paycheck possible. read more

Yoko groomed my adopted pup for the first time today and overall he came out so soft and so so cute! Although some of his hair was choppy and uneven under his chin from the razor I didn't notice till we were at home so I fixed it up myself. I used a coupon so I wasn't too upset. I would return to yoko next time. read more

I have been taking my shih tzu Baby to Peto for almost 4 years after trying two other groomers. I love them and the results are fantastic. This year we rescued a new shih tzu, Luci and she had never been professionally groomed before. Her first time she was scared and was difficult, but they worked with her. The second time again, difficult but they continued working with her and they kept reassuring me she would come around. The third time she ran out the door and I just wanted to cry, but they kept reassuring me and they worked with her. Baby has always been a total diva and uses grooming day like us owners use a spa day. She milks every second of it. Today I could almost cry. When picking up Baby and Luci and getting their report from Luci's new groomer she reported "NOTHING"!!! She did fantastic and they had no issues. Thank you Petco for hiring your amazing groomers. Baby and Luci are 100% safe and secure when I drop them off and I am 100% satisfied with their results every time. read more

I took my dog in so that she could get a flea bath. One of the groomers told me that one bath does the trick, and even went into detail about how the fleas will try to climb up to the neck and into the ears during the bath. But afterwards, he said that after a bath there should be no more fleas. However, my groomer who groomed my dog had to give her two baths. My dog came home groomed, but scratching ridiculously. They recommended a hot spot treatment for her itching, which did absolutely nothing. Not to mention they didn't carry the one they wanted to recommend to me. I brought her back and they combed through her like two strokes with a flea comb and found pieces of a dead flea, but that did not resolve the incredible scratching she was still doing. She does not have a flea allergy, and she was biting and scratching as if she were still having fleas on her body. I washed and disinfected everything that she has touched, including the car seat she sits in, her bed, my bed, all of the blankets at my parents house, really truly everything. Twice. When I went in today they had a little bit of attitude with me when I told them that I had been given two different pieces of information by their groomers and then I was very dissatisfied and would not be bringing Dixie back to get groomed there ever again. It seems as if these groomers do not know what they are talking about, or they are giving customers conflicting Information that is very confusing. Long story short I love my dog and I hate to see her scratching and being miserable. If they had any decency, they would not of charged me for the extra flea and tick topical ointment I had to put on her after her flea bathS! Overall I have never had a negative experience with them, but after this I don't believe I'll be going there again. If you do want to go to Petco to get your dog groomed, hold them accountable for everything they do it for your animal, and I would even insist on watching them do it. Shameful. Thanks. read more

We have been using Petco grooming at Bandera and 1604 for several years for our 5 lb Yorkie. He hates getting haircuts, so it's normal for him to resist and get scared when we get there. However, he also hates getting baths at home, and acts the same way. I was hesitant to try a 'box store' groomer, but we've actually had a much better experience here than at privately-owned places. Two different private places we tried actually left him with burns on his muzzle and belly, and nothing like that has happened at Petco. I like that you can see the dogs being groomed, providing more assurance that they are being treated well. The groomers are in plain view of the other staff members and customers, which gives them more accountability. Usually, I request Yoko. She is very sweet with our dog, and does a great job. She has also been here a number of years, so I don't feel like she's just doing this work because she has to, which is the vibe I have gotten from a few groomers over the years. read more

Do not take your pet to this location for grooming. I am sure Elle and I are talking about the same lady, On Friday, 1/15 I arrived with my 4lb Maltese/pom mix to be groomed at about 7am. I said good morning as we waited for someone to unlock the doors from the inside and her response as she was texting on the phone a vague, nonchalant "good morning." The store manager unlocked the door and as we walked in she proceeded to the back without a saying anything, such as I will be with in a moment or anything of the sort. It was the store manager that said she will be with you shortly. This women, with the mean look finally arrived to register. She wouldn't look at me and I point blank asked her if she ever smiles. Her response, in the same monotone voice responded, "I smile all the time" which is hard to believe. At that very moment, i made the decision not to leave my pet with her and asked for the manager. Rolling her eyes, she said, "he's right there" and she proceeded to the back. I asked him if he noticed her attitude, and of course, all he did was apologize. Needless, to say I will not be returning to that location for grooming services. read more
