I have a 67lb 7.5 month Giant Schnauzer. As we go on our walks/hikes he gets pretty dirty, but mostly with burs stuck all over his coat. In desperate need of a bath, I found out Petco on Callaghan had a self-service dog wash. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised they supply EVERYTHING I need. Apron, shampoo, conditioner, doggie cologne, breath spray, 4 towels and brush. There are only 2 tubs, so when I arrived I had to get on a waiting list. After 10 minutes it was my turn. The friendly girl led me to the back, helped me get set up and I quickly started scrubbing away. After his bath, I moved over to a table where there is a blow dryer with a long hose to dry him off. After some brushing he started looking pretty poofy. He smelled really great and looked very handsome! The is one of the smaller Petco locations but they have everything I needed. Staff is extremely friendly and they offered my pup a cookie. After my pup's bath, we shopped around for a few items before heading home. I intend to make this my go-to place for all his baths between grooming appointments. My only tip is to bring your own dog shampoo. They provide it there and will give more if needed. However it is very watery and it takes a lot for it to lather. I'll be taking mine going forward. read more

We went here for the first time this past weekend and oh my gosh. Was so great to not have to clean up a tub and bathroom after trying to bath a 90lbs dog that likes to play escape artist and shed constantly. For $10, you get to use all the materials in the Self-Wash area. That includes a big tub, hose, shampoo and conditioner, blow dryer, towels, some little treats to entice your pup to stay good, the works! My favorite part was how large the tub was. The side of the tub has a little door that slides out and apparently can turn into a ramp (we didn't quite figure that out), but even without the ramp, just having a little doorway on the side for our big guy to enter through was good enough. They have little leashes that hook to the side of the tub too if you've got a dog like ours who likes to try to escape mid bath. The only complaint I had was the water temperature. We always bathe our dog after a long trip to the local dog park, and by the time he's done playing in the summers, he likes to go into the bath to lay in some cold water. While the water here wasn't burning hot, it was still on the more than warm/almost hot side. So I felt bad since he continued to pant throughout the entire bath and never seemed to cool off. It'd be nice if we could adjust the temperatures even a tad. However, for a $10 fee, I would say this was a great deal (and reason enough not to take a star off). Can't beat it! As it was mentioned by another Yelper, this is a Petco company. So your Petco card does work here! If you haven't been here before, there are also some normal pet store items like dog beds, training items, treats, and other animal items. It's got a pretty good selection! Also, it's located at the NE intersection of I-10 & Callaghan. Right next door to Sprouts and a few down suites down from Yaya's. I highly recommend this place for days when you've let your dog indulge a little to much into the mud puddles or is just in dire need for a bath. Nice quick cleaning, and no clean up! And even if you have a fairly clean pup, it's a great deal to take your dog here once every few months just to get a more thorough job done than you could at home in the tub. Came in today for the Self Service dog was area. 1st time here. The girls behind the counter were so nice and helpful (except for the heavy set guy with short hair. More about him in a bit). The one girl set me up after paying and walked me to the back. They set you up with a bottle of shampoo, conditioner, two brushes and two towels. The metal tubs were spacious enough for my 50 pound dog. I wish the tubs would lower as I had to pick up my dog. The washing area has a nice stream of water and I live that they have rubber mats on the bottom for the comfort of the dog. Otherwise I can see that metal tub being slippery. The one girl again was super friendly to get me a refill on the soap. At the end, they have a blower station that's worth the $15 by it self! That does raise and lower. One thing that I noticed is that they disinfect the tubs after every use! Now back to the guy behind the counter. When I inquired about the cost and what you get, the young lady stated that for $15 you didn't need to clean up, they did and it was included. I worked retail and in guest service. I won't leave a mess knowing how it is. However the jerk behind the counter chimes in when I asked about price and what you get by saying " and make sure to clean up after your self. I get some folks are pigs and might make a mess. Someone needs to explain to him that sometimes you have to be nice to folks because some of us might be new customers. I did tell him that. He seemed to pipe down not expecting me to clap back at him. read more

I really like coming to this store over the traditional petco stores. Everything here is natural: food, treats, shampoos, and much more! It makes shopping for healthy and safe options for your pets a breeze. I especially like their bulk treat section where they offer a variety of treats and you can buy as little or as much as you want. My favorites to buy are the heart shaped ones for joint support. Another bulk option they have is for cat litter buy one of two different sizes pre filled then bring it back to refill for a discounted price. The employees are always available to help and are knowledgable about the products so don't be afraid to ask. Sign up for their mailing list since they offer unique offers separate from the regular petco stores. They have a do it yourself dog wash for $10 and provide everything you need. They also offer various events monthly and have dog training on site. They do price matching from other stores as well as their online prices. As long as it isn't over a 50% discount they can do the match for you in store. If it is above they would have to order it for you to be shipped to your house, but you won't have to pay for shipping. If you aren't in a rush for a particular item this is beneficial! I have taken advantage of their offer and received my product in less than 5 days. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. My husband and I went in looking for a probiotic for our cats. We were not taken to where the item was-the young lady merely pointed and wasn't very nice. We searched for quite some time before finding ONE. I complained to the company and she called me herself to apologize. She said I would receive 2 coupons to be used in the store or online. When I went in to retrieve the coupons today-the manager (a young man) looked at me like I had a horn growing out of my head. He did search but found absolutely nothing. She said the coupons would be there with my phone number and name on them. I hate being lied to. Don't patronize this store. Very shitty customer service. read more

Very friendly staff! I stopped in quickly after picking up my kittens from the vet. They were declawed so I had to pick up special cat litter. The second I walked in the door both of the employees said hello and asked if I needed any help. I told them what I needed and they took me right to the aisle and helped me pick out the right litter. Great place, friendly staff who really cares about your needs and will answer any questions you have throughly. It's honestly nice that they are a smaller location because it becomes more personable and they try to remember you and your dogs name and history. The self-wash bath is a life saver because you don't have to bend or clean and it's only $12 for everything. One thing that would be good to mention for those going there is that there are no animals for sale unless it's an adoption day, because it looks like some people are disappointed on the reviews. read more

Unleashed is such a cool pet store. As a dog lover I wish I could just buy everything. They have such a cool selection of products. I really like their self serve dog wash. It's $10 and really convenient especially if you have a big dog that is hard to bathe at home. They provide shampoo, conditioner, a scrubber, brush, towels, and a drier. The tub thing has a restraint that goes over your dog's neck to keep him from jumping out and the sprayer shoots the right pressure of warm water. I like that the tub is at a perfect height that isn't hard on your back. I really think this service is worth the $10 considering what a pain it can be to bathe dogs. The shampoo is watery, I'm sure they water it down, but you can use as much as you want and it works well. The shampoo isn't super nice or smells that great. The conditioner smells better than the shampoo. I really like the rubber scrubber thing that they have at each station, it really helps if your dog has a thick coat. Next to the tubs they have dog treats which I really appreciated since my dog acts so miserable during bath time. The treats help to cheer him up, lol. Speaking of treats, I am all about their bulk treat bar. They are so cute and look so good that I am tempted to try them haha. Their selection of food and toys is also amazing. read more

This is a great place for high end pet food and treats. Everything is organic or all natural. The staff there is very energetic and helpful. We signed up for dog training because the dog trainer was very helpful. Don't come to this store looking for regular dog treats or normal priced items. Like they say you get what you pay for and I believe you gotta spend money if you want your dogs to live a nice healthy life. read more

This was the very first time I've ever stepped foot into Petco that has a self serve dog wash for just $10! For the record, it is no longer called Unleashed by Petco, it's now just called Petco. My mom and I came in on an afternoon and it wasn't too busy. We asked one of the staff members to check if there was a tub open and thankfully there was one currently open. There are three different tub basins open depending on dog size. Each is complete with different bath necessities such as no tear shampoo, conditioner, different brushes for dog hair types, towels, and dog treats. The shower head is flexible and can reach all over the tub. It's comfortable for the dog while getting a wash. The staff member put my dog on a different leash so that we could bather her in the tub. The water isn't too cold nor hot, it's just the right temperature. No self serve dog grooming service is complete without the hair dryer. It also comes with a leash holder so that your pampered pooch won't run off. It has different dryer speeds to dry your dog and be on your way out. The staff keeps the dog wash area nice and neat. They clean out as much as they can from the previous customer so that nothing stays for the next customer. They not only have a self serve dog wash but carries other items you would see at Petco as well. The experience was amazing and my dog left smelling good, that I plan on taking my dogs back to this location. Here's just a few tips: Make sure before coming in to bring your dogs rabies/shot records and bring your own leash before and after bathing your dog. read more

It was my first time visiting today but I had heard great things about it from my roommate. So I thought why not try it out? The ladies in the shop kept watching us from aisle to aisle like we were going to take something. Sigh. Then I guess one of my pups had a bit of an accident and instead of politely pointing it out the lady who was following us, ambushed us at check out demanding we clean it up. Sigh. It took all of my self control to not just walk out without purchasing anything. I have no problem cleaning up after my dog but at least be polite, we were the only customers in the store! I used to always favor PetSmart over Petco until I made my first trip to Unleashed. The selection of food, treats, toys, and accessories is much better than other pet stores. I like that the store carries high-quality brands. I am very particular about my dog's food and Unleashed has plenty of more healthy options! I have bathed my dog at the self wash before and it's great! The store provides shampoo, conditioner, brushes, and towels, and there's a blower so that you can dry your pet off after bathing. For only $10, the self wash is a great deal. I am incredibly pleased with Unleashed and Petco's reward system! If you're a member (free to sign up) you can accumulate rewards on your account. Also, I almost always get a coupon with a discount for my next purchase. I used to always shop at PetSmart and their rewards system never gave me any benefits.
