Dog drying/brushing area
Loyda V.

I have a 67lb 7.5 month Giant Schnauzer. As we go on our walks/hikes he gets pretty dirty, but mostly with burs stuck all over his coat. In desperate need of a bath, I found out Petco on Callaghan had a self-service dog wash. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised they supply EVERYTHING I need. Apron, shampoo, conditioner, doggie cologne, breath spray, 4 towels and brush. There are only 2 tubs, so when I arrived I had to get on a waiting list. After 10 minutes it was my turn. The friendly girl led me to the back, helped me get set up and I quickly started scrubbing away. After his bath, I moved over to a table where there is a blow dryer with a long hose to dry him off. After some brushing he started looking pretty poofy. He smelled really great and looked very handsome! The is one of the smaller Petco locations but they have everything I needed. Staff is extremely friendly and they offered my pup a cookie. After my pup's bath, we shopped around for a few items before heading home. I intend to make this my go-to place for all his baths between grooming appointments. My only tip is to bring your own dog shampoo. They provide it there and will give more if needed. However it is very watery and it takes a lot for it to lather. I'll be taking mine going forward.

Self Service Wash. They disinfect after every dog wash.

Came in today for the Self Service dog was area. 1st time here. The girls behind the counter were so nice and helpful (except for the heavy set guy with short hair. More about him in a bit). The one girl set me up after paying and walked me to the back. They set you up with a bottle of shampoo, conditioner, two brushes and two towels. The metal tubs were spacious enough for my 50 pound dog. I wish the tubs would lower as I had to pick up my dog. The washing area has a nice stream of water and I live that they have rubber mats on the bottom for the comfort of the dog. Otherwise I can see that metal tub being slippery. The one girl again was super friendly to get me a refill on the soap. At the end, they have a blower station that's worth the $15 by it self! That does raise and lower. One thing that I noticed is that they disinfect the tubs after every use! Now back to the guy behind the counter. When I inquired about the cost and what you get, the young lady stated that for $15 you didn't need to clean up, they did and it was included. I worked retail and in guest service. I won't leave a mess knowing how it is. However the jerk behind the counter chimes in when I asked about price and what you get by saying " and make sure to clean up after your self. I get some folks are pigs and might make a mess. Someone needs to explain to him that sometimes you have to be nice to folks because some of us might be new customers. I did tell him that. He seemed to pipe down not expecting me to clap back at him.

Charlie may not have loved it, but I did! :)

This was our first time using the dog wash and while Charlie wasn't too impressed, I loved it! After a quick how-to from Justin, we were set. Like other reviews mentioned, they provide you with shampoo, conditioner, brushes, scrubbies, and towels that you don't have to wash when your done. Then a nice blow dry and wa-la! How awesome is that? It's really easy to get in and out!

Refillable cat litter options.

The employee was on their phone the whole time I was there. It felt unprofessional and uncomfortable.

SADTC helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life - raising a lab puppy…read more When I chose Kona as a puppy 7 weeks old, I knew her parents - a 110lb male and a 100lb female. They were short and stout and STRONG. I used my brain and decided I did not want a 100lb lab ruining my life, my things, and my patience, so I decided to put her through some training classes as opposed to buying a few books and doing it on my own. I had watched through the window at a few of the PetSmart training sessions and not blown away by what I saw, or by the people who were attending the class (classmates are very important in dog training classes, as you don't want to be with somebody who can't or doesn't want to handle their jerky dog). Luckily, I bought a wire dog crate from a woman on Craigslist who told me all about the wonders of SADTC (I met her at the Humane Society where she and her German Shepherd were attending a class). I kept SATDC stuck in the back of my mind until I felt Kona was ready for some good ol' fashioned learnin.' SADTC holds their classes at the SA Humane Society at 410 & Fredericksburg. Each of the classes I took had about 15 people in each. All dogs are to have their shots, and luckily, most of the dogs weren't total dbags to begin with. Kona and I took the Clicker 1 and 2 classes, and both instructors were smart and knew what they were doing. By the end of the Clicker2 class, Kona can sit, stay, down, "leave it," walk very well on-leash, and do a few other entertaining tricks. If you are a crazy-dog-person, the further classes include something to do with Dog Dancing, as well as more involved obedience classes to prepare you for showing your dog if that's your thing. A caveat: Your dog will only be trained as well as you train it. Don't expect magic to happen if you aren't willing to practice and learn along with your dog. A+++ Would train with again!!!

I'm here to tell you that my husband and I couldn't be happier with the wonderful experience and results we have had at Wet Nose Training. We paid for the 3-week training and I'm really glad we did. Yes, it an investment to properly and thoroughly train your dog but when you think of having a well-behaved dog for the next 16-18 years, it is a sound investment. Also, this is one of those times you get what you pay for. Let me tell you, I did not see how I was going to be without my baby for 3 weeks. I kept reminding myself that we were doing this for her good so that one day she could be an off-leash dog on hikes and playing disc golf. A well-behaved dog has so many more opportunities: she can go to restaurants that allow dogs, she's welcome at other people's homes, I can trust her near children, the elderly, and other dogs. It is my saddest regret that my old dog was never trained and was poorly socialized. It has limited his life so much. Lucy got to go to Rudy's the day we picked her up! Andy is very transparent in letting you check out the environment. There is an inside work area (as well as an inside kennel room), but plenty of stimulating outdoor area for your dog to learn and practice, all surrounded by sturdy iron fencing. Once I saw the environment Lucy would be in I knew she would be safe. They only work together dogs that will be safe to work together so that your dog can develop his/her personality and confidence. I've attached pictures of our Lucy playing with a cute little friend she made there. She also went into her first heat while there and Andy and Amanda handled it perfectly professionally. We were always kept in the loop with what Lucy was working on. What made us first interview Wet Nose Training was that Andy kept getting singled out in such rave reviews at his last place of employment. I searched him out and saw that he had started his own training company. Then, when we interviewed him (we interviewed 4 other potential trainers), we found that his METHOD was the one we were looking for. As I understand it, they teach basic manners with positive reinforcement, teach leash training using a flat collar (cross between a regular collar and a prong) so that Lucy could learn what he wanted. There were also very high quality treats to reinforce good behavior. Then they add in an ecollar. That was the part I was most afraid of. On a scale of 0-99 we only needed a 12 to get her attention. She had ample opportunity to learn what was expected of her first without the ecollar before it was ever used, and it was never used without notice to her. To me, this is the most constructive way to train. It's layers of learning, like learning your alphabet before you start reading a book ;) Andy knows dogs. And Andy LOVES dogs. He truly understands their nature and gave us so much insight into Lucy, like how to watch her thought process unfold and what her "tell" is before she makes a bad choice of action. We just had a follow up the other day to iron out some of our questions so we could more accurately reinforce what Andy had taught her, and he'll be coming to our neighborhood soon so we can fine tune some of her behaviors in her natural habitat. The fact that she pauses before going through a doorway until told she can, sits when she sees another dog rather than charging them, can be put in "place" when we need her to stay still to answer the door, and leaves her cranky old brother dog alone has been such a relief. I highly recommend Wet Nose Training.

From the very beginning, Dean was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient - not just with Henry, but with us as well. He has a way of making training feel approachable and even fun, which made such a difference as this was our first experience with a dog trainer. Nothing ever felt overwhelming or intimidating. Dean was also very reassuring that a lot of what we have experienced with our Henry was normal puppy behavior. What really stood out to us was how personalized the training was. Dean took the time to understand Henry's personality and our lifestyle, and then tailored everything to fit our home environment. That made it so much easier for us to stay consistent and actually implement what we were learning day-to-day. Henry has learned all of his basic commands and is doing so well. We've seen such a transformation in his behavior, confidence, and responsiveness. It's been such a joy to watch him grow, and we truly feel like Dean set us up with a strong foundation that will last. If you're looking for someone who is not only skilled at what he does but also genuinely cares about both you and your dog, we highly recommend Dean.
