Our silly Princess rolled on something in the backyard that made her a stinky girl. Dinner prep had to wait while we put her in the van and headed over to Pet Food Express for her monthly bath, 5 days early. Fortunately, the traffic wasn't too bad and when we arrived, there were three stations open including one with an oxygenated hydrogen peroxide comb fitting. We used that fitting once before when Princess got skunked. The purpose of the comb is so you can get the cleaning liquid through all the fur to the skin. Especially useful when washing a dog with double coat. After five minutes of that, we switched to the shampoo of the season and proceeded with a regular wash, rinse and dry. When we were done, Princess was back to smelling like a dog! read more

Very well run store. The Staff is outstanding and always ready to help. We love their self-help dog bathing facility. It is priced very fairly for the length of time and all the services offered with it; includes a selection of shampoos, towels, color, and even cookies or treats for the dogs using the facility. The store has a great selection of foods, shampoos, treats, mattresses, leashes, etc. and very knowledgeable staff. The store also partners with VIP veterinarian service and offers vaccines and lab tests. Overall, the store is a one stop shop with excellent and very knowledgeable staff. read more

Took Huck for his bath. The bath facility at the Pet Food Express is great. The tube area is deep and the water is warm. The wands are easy to use. The timer is 25 minutes and displayed so it is easy to see how much time is left. The bath area is kept clean. There are lots of towels and treats for your pup. The staff is friendly and helpful. This place is great! I was visiting Danville and my dog needed a bath. This was our first self wash experience, a 80lb lab I was a bit apprehensive but the staff here is amazing. Unfortunately, no San Diego locations, the cashier looked for me. He was just so kind and helpful! The place is clean as can be, towel and a dryer are available. Plenty of soaps, I bring my own, great water pressure to rinse efficiently, warm water and hooks to keep pup in place with a rubber collar they provide. Thank You for going above and beyond! I always go to the Danville location in the livery and usually have a pleasant experience. Last weekend however I had a very distasteful experience with Alex. He was incredibly rude, scared my dog while I was trying to weigh her and made an unnecessary comment as I was exiting the store, which I'm sure he thought I didn't hear but did. I spend over $200 a month at this store and if this is how an assistant manager treats loyal customers, I'd much rather drive further up to Lafayette and spend my money there. I'm not sure if Alex thinks because he's an assistant manager that he is immune to treating customers with respect and appropriate customer service, but that experience was not it. It is one thing to be rude to me, its another to scare my dog who is small and still a puppy. I urge the manager and corporate to look at the behaviors of their employees. Do and be better Alex. If not for the customers, at least set an example for other employees as you are clearly abusing your position. read more

We have been taking our 2 doggies here for baths for years. The place is clean and people are always super nice and friendly. The prices are decent and sometimes they have great sales on dog foods, flea medications... They also have a wonderful vet service in the back (runs by VIP vet) and host many dogs and cats adoptions. This is a long overdue review. My husband & I have been happy customers for several years as they have excellent products and great customer service. One employee really stand out amongst all - her name is Kathy Casper and she works at the Danville store on San Ramon Valley Blvd. Kathy is a big hearted animal lover and you can tell that she truly cares about the pets and their owners. Our dog is an extremely finicky eater (any pet owner who has experience with that can understand how stressful that can be) - Kathy has made numerous food suggestions to help us with that challenge. Petfood Express has an outstanding return policy in event a purchase doesn't work out for any reason. Kathy is a dedicated and hard working person - she even kept eyes peeled and has placed orders for special requests items that our dog loves, if the store happen to be short on inventory. Buy 3 cans of food, get the 4th free-hooray! I've been a super fan of Pet Food Express locations ever since I adopted a kitten at the Walnut Creek location. The Danville Pet Food Express is just as well stocked, clean, organized and friendly as the WC store. It's a bit of a drive from where I work, but worth it to come here over my lunch hour for their deals on canned cat food. My cats only eat Natural Balance (mainly because I am a fanatic when it comes to their meals) and Pet Food Express prices it competively with larger chains and incents you with the 4th can free deal. Easy parking in a lot and you can find them in the same lot as Walgreens and McCoulous (sp?) Take the drive over here if you can-it's worth it! read more

Dear Pet Food Express, My name is Penny and I'm typing this review with my paws so please excuse the typos. I'm an older dog that is wise beyond her years, and have been coming to this Pet Food Express for a really long time and I have to say, I'm only a dog so my standards might be lower than regular humans but this store is Woohoo! As good as it gets! First of all, the store itself is enormous, so I have a grand ole time sniffing my way up and down the aisles and trying to stick my head into the treats when no one is looking. Also, even though I hate taking baths and like to re-create the scene from 101 Dalmatians where all the dogs howl back and forth at each other, I do appreciate the self-service pet wash you guys have going. My baths are way shorter since the shampoo is built into the water sprayer and I can shed as much as I want in the tub since my fur isn't going down our home drain;) At $15 bucks a wash, I hear this is expensive however I'm worth it and I don't care about money since all I do all day is look cute and sleep. The people that work your store really know their stuff too. When my dog food was put on a recall list, my owners FREAKED OUT, but the nice people at your store suggested a different brand and provided some free dog food so my owners could mix the old brand with the new brand to ease my stomach into my new regimen. The only thing the Pet Specialist could have done better is suggest that I eat only people food....I could really get behind that;) So thanks for everything and keep up the good work Pet Food Express! I love the staff here - they deserve 5 + stars !!! 0 Stars for their pricing - always over priced. I love that they carry a ton of organic , gluten free , wheat free and grain free items for dogs, and good quality shampoos and sprays for dogs. The only thing I don't like about this store is the fact that all their items are usually $2-$5 sometimes even more than other stores. I use the app RedLaser, and will only buy the stuff I need and I will order the rest online from other retailers because I end up saving more money. They do the price match , but they won't honor online prices and they want to see the actual ad. Which is annoying - just look at my phone. I think this is their corporate policy. Keep in mind they are still a local Bay Area company. I do like the fact that they have a self service dog washing area, where you can give your dog a bath . They have a ton of different kinds of products you can use. You shampoo and blow dry your dog , I believe it's $15 per wash. I love the staff , I love the items they sell but I hate the prices . They have a huge mark up . For example the honest kitchen products all have a $3-4 mark up . Honest Kitchen has a loyalty program but the staff was unaware of it , etc. Certain high end brands it's easier to buy online especially if you take advantage of loyalty programs and specials. My dog loves chewing on these large bone shaped rawhides. Although these were made for much larger dogs, it seeks to keep him busy. Whatever makes my little guy happy, is fine by me. PFE makes it easier on the wallet by giving you the fourth one free if you purchase three on a single transaction. This is the only source I buy rawhides from these days. Besides rawhides, they carry every pet needs you can think of. They also have a self service wash stations. Yes, I believe they are used for canines and not humans. read more
