Came here for grooming, they told me I could upgrade to a pick three from two options I was already getting and then charged me $70 saying the options I picked weren't included so they just charged me for both, my dog looked exactly the same when I picked him up. It was clear they didn't even touch his ears, then they stiffed me on a bandana that was promised with the package I got. $70 for a poor cleaning and nonexistent/uneven trim. I'm 100% sure they didn't brush his teeth, which I paid for. And three hours of time. Will not come back. read more

I was really terrified for a dog I saw at the grooming salon yesterday. Before I even entered the store I heard a dog screaming in pain and wondered if someone had accidentally hurt a dog. As I came in I realized it was a little 5lb yorkie, getting brushed. I watched as the groomers comb would get caught on a knot or a mat and she would just yank until it ripped out- probably excruciating for the dog. He yelped and tried to bite her and she calmly acted like he was being a big baby. This is not okay. The owners run errands and trust their dogs to professionals but they're just in a hurry to get to the next dog and the next dog, they're either unable or unwilling to respect the dog and their ability to feel pain. read more

Had a great customer experience at Petco tonight. Went in to purchase my absolute favorite pet product, cat litter :-). Found some discounted at the display (2 28lb boxes) and brought them up to the register. When I was being rung up it rang up 3 dollars more per box than I was expecting. Asked the cashier to price check and he ran back to display. Cashier came back up and indicated that he was sorry but the discount had expired on 11/23...and this is where it gets good. I didn't even have to say a word. The shift manager heard the cashier from a distance and yelled to him that whatever was on the shelf tag was the price they would honor. Kudos to you shift manager...you are a star. read more

Petco. It's convenient and that's the reason I go there. I can find better prices, with free shipping, online. The service is okay, with one blatant exception. An elderly woman, who is proud of her ignorance, has consistently been rude and argumentative. I've been informed her name is Deb. She does this insufferable behavior in a passive aggressive manner. When she says "Have a nice dayyyyy!", it's like she's really saying "Screw YOU". Whenever, I've had the displeasure of having to deal with her at check-out, she has consistently demonstrated that she is incompetant and glacially slow. I've been a customer of this store for years, and spent a small fortune. However, to go to Petco and wonder when Deb is going to run her rude passive aggeessive game on me has convinced me to think twice before giving Petco more money. I should have gotten the hint when my dog took a dump in the check-out line! In short, everyone else has been great! It's way overpriced. There's one bad apple. Deb should find a job elswhere, or be sacked! Addendum: Wow! Searching for an alternative to overpriced Petco, I discovered Mud Bay. The people are genuinely warm and friendly. (No hostile subtext attached). The prices are more fair...closer to the ones online. Yayyyyy!!! The gentleman who helped me was very knowledgable, kind, and laughed when I mentioned I was a refugee from PetCrows. He carried my stuff out to my car, even though it was across the street. "Thank you!" Not only THAT...he gave me a personalized welcoming greeting card that was signed by the crew and had a 5 dollar coupon for my next visit. There will be many more visits. I adopted two kittens. They came home with ringworm, feline herpes, and fleas. Wrote a letter to Petco. They "never received it." This has cost me both time and money and I'm still not rid of the ringworm!? More doctors visits today for pets and humans. And the laundry and vacuuming time, had to move Thanksgiving to someone else's house. Had to miss a couple days of work because ring worm is so contagious. I imagine it's been passed to all the other rescue cats on their premises, as well as any customer who reached through the holes to pet the kittens, or any pet brought into the store who was in close contact with the rescue cats. This review is for their awesome groomer, Ashley - she is the best I have ever had and if she ever leaves there, I don't know what we are going to do! She has been grooming our westie, Malky, for a couple of years now and I tried Petco because I was continuously looking for a groomer who did a good job at a good price and just could not find one. There are some freaks out there! Ashley is so gentle with Malky, he has arthritis and she and another groomer lovingly support him in the backend while grooming him because she knows he cannot stand for long periods of time. She is so quick, too, pay an extra $10 for the "express" groom, in and out in about 2-2.5 hours and they don't have to hang out in kennels all day. Totally worth every penny. The groom itself is only $45 which I think is really reasonable. Also, she is very knowledgeable about dog health and actually diagnosed my dog with a paw infection that took the specialist vet $700 to discover! And she pulled something out of his paw which he had been limping on for months and no vet EVER saw it. It was some tree pitch that got embedded in there - she is my hero!! She does a great job, just what you ask and you can really trust her with your dog. Malky used to cringe so bad when going to the vet and he is not nearly as bad now that he knows he's going to be okay with Ashley. I am a volunteer kennel attendant, and I know when someone is good with dogs, and she definitely is. Ashley is the best, I will never take my dog to anyone else! I don't know why this Petco is getting such bad reviews here - I have been going here for 10 years and have never thought it was dirty or the staff were bad at all. They are always super helpful and their dog food choice is really good with lots of excellent brands, unlike PetSmart who still carries mostly crappy low grade dog food like Purina, etc. I don't like the caged animals, I don't agree with selling birds, snakes, turtles, mice, etc. but I would never say this Petco is gross or dirty, ever! And they have a lot of adoption events there trying to help give rescue dogs and cats a good home. read more

I visited the Vetco Vet Clinic inside the Petco in Shoreline (Seattle) for a wellness check-up for my cat with Dr. Brad Krohn. I have several veterinarians I visit, but he is by far the best in the Seattle area and I consider myself a savvy pet owner. He was the most compassionate and knowledgeable of any vet I've worked with and I just can't say enough good things. Because I have several animals, I have found that these new wellness clinics that are popping up in Petco's are the trend for pet owners to save money where your regular vet is going to charge at least twice as much for routine vaccines and flea treatment. A win for all involved and can you say that your veterinarian graduated with honors at the top of their class? read more

This review is for "Vetco" I brought my dog in just to update 2 of her vaccines. The assistant was very nice but the vet didn't seem like she wanted to be there she looked very mean. And then the assistant told me it would cost $52 for TWO VACCINES. So I walked out of there and took her to another vet got the same vaccines for $25!! I took her to vetco expecting a great convenient experience but it was the complete opposite!! I suggest hiring a friendly vet that wants to be there. read more

After coming to this store on several occasions in the past and reading the sign that clearly states "grooming hours" 8am-8pm mon-sat they actually don't open for general grooming services until 9am. In fact the 8am is apparently by appointment only and only certain services are available. So when I showed up at 8:30 I waited. Change the sign to a simple 9am OR clearly state what the 8am grooming time actually means. read more

I have taken my dog to Petco Grooming for 10+ years, 6 at this location, and have been consistently pleased. So has my little (37 pound) buddy, Lucy. The groomers know what they are doing and they do a good job. They are clearly animal lovers and treat Lucy and the other dogs and cats I have observed there with kindness and gentleness. I am 100% comfortable leaving Lucy there. I always get a full report; her ear looks irritated, she may need to see her vet, etc. They do such a good job trimming her fur, skin treatment (she has dry skin), nail trims, and everything else I ask to be done. Joi has been grooming Lucy for quite a while now and Lucy and I are both very happy about that! Joi is a talented angel! read more

So I didn't know wether to rate this place as a 1 star or a 4. It depends on whos helping you. I spend quite a bit of money here as we have 3 pets. I came in about 4 days ago and purchased a powersun light for my bearded dragon. The previous review I had purchased one before but the lizard deal fell through. Anyway I took it home to use it in the zilla dome I bought. It didn't work. I discovered it was the bulb that was broken. I had purchased a double mini dome by zoo med as well from this location which was 41.99. Between the bulb and dome it was almost 100$. So I brought the bulb back in and told the guy NOEL who was working that it stopped working after 3 hours. He gave me a whole bunch of attitude. I left because I had purchased a Solar glo light from petsmart. I deal with electrical stuff at my job all day so I know what I'm talking about. I had a ceramic ballast and all the right wattages for everything. So when I got home and tried my Solar Glo out from PetSmart I was pretty mad that it didn't work either. It turned out to be the dome this time. I came right back because my dragon was in desperate need of needing his lights, UVA, UVB and heat. It was the same guy working again. I said only one side of the mini dome works. He said that kim needs to write a note on the box because this is an issue and I've been in the store twice today. When I told him everything I tried he still had an attitude. Kim however was amazing and helped with the new light dome. She tested it, matched it to the online price at 22.99 not 26.99 and then took off 4 extra dollars for me. I will be back only if shes working because she understood my frustration and knew how to fix the issue. I get so mad when stores like this give you problems. Its not even their money and I didn't want a refund I wanted to do an exchange for just a single dome not double dome. She made my day. Avoid Noel if you can. He's kind of grouchy. I always go here for dog food, but yesterday I saw a groomer really mishandle a dog. She was trying to trim the dog's nails, and pulled one of the pooch's legs into a really weird position, and the dog squealed in pain. Then, she decided to be a bit less lazy, walked around to the other side of the table, and easily clipped the nails on that leg. A few years ago, I took my small dog there for a nail clipping, and the groomer was extremely impatient and rough with my pup, who was scared. I knew a really dumb person once who said she was a groomer at Petco. I don't think they are very picky about whom they hire. read more

This review is for the grooming department. So, I have a 2 lb chihuahua and a 45 lb mutt with crazy fur that doesn't get wet unless you submerge her and massage. We took said dogs camping at a lake in New Mexico, and then down to California. Needless to say, they were pretty stinky. We called around to other groomers to try and get them in for grooming the same day we drove home, but nobody had an opening. One place laughed at me. WTF. Anyway, so I called Petco, and they had an opening. During the drive, we realized we were going to be 30 minutes late, so we called, and they said it'd be fine. When we got there they told us about the deals and what we could do for the big dog's crazy shedding, and then gave us an estimated time, about three hours later. They called once they were done and left a message, which was nice. The dogs smelled great, and big dog looked beautiful. Cost was pretty good compared to what we usually pay. Over all, a great experience, and I'm definitely going to them from now on. read more

I took Bob to the Petco in Shoreline to get a haircut like I have for the last 2 years. It is the worst haircut ever he doesn't look like my dog. . When I called to make the appointment I gave them notes about what I want his tail longer a mohawk on his head. They did none of that and shaved him almost completely bald. The manager then called me to apologize but made excuses it was not related at the time he was dropped off. That's why I called ahead of time and gave you notes I wasn't going to drop him off. I got my dog groomed here once and that was it for me. The staff were friendly and welcoming when you drop off your dog. Unfortunately, my dog's haircut was pretty horrible. The cut was uneven and there were many odd looking hair pieces sticking out from all over his body. I had to go home and end up trimming him all over again just to make his body look proportioned. I personally think the guy who cut his hair was a newbie. The price was same as Petsmart but was not worth the price. read more

I learned so much from him, and I've observed how great he is with dogs of all sizes and ages, not just mine. They have a decent selection of items, but I notice they have a lot more dog food options than cat food and they don't have a great selection of litter. Prices are a bit high so I tend to only stop in when I need something other than cat food. I found an area with 99 cent cat toys which is great because my cat likes the simplest toys and loses/destroys them quickly so this was a great find. read more

Better selection and some prices than Petsmart but it took approximately 30 minutes to get 3 goldfish. Had to wait at the aquatic center for 10 or so minutes (and this was after informing the cashier that I needed help). Then there was 3 people standing in line in front of me with one cashier and so the cashier has to go help someone out of the store. Then there was no cashier for a few minutes. The only other employee working, blamed being short handed on "state law" saying that they absolutely had to send 2 employees on break. I know there is laws about employee breaks, but these should be better planned so there isn't a skeleton crew at 6pm when stores tend to be busy!!! read more

Man this pet store makes me sad/frustrated every time I'm here. With few exceptions I think most people who work here just aren't paid enough to care about animals nor are given the knowledge to be able to do their jobs. A few months ago I was looking at lizards and saw one had his leg trapped under a water feature, they moved it to release the lizard and found two more squished UNDER the water dish. The person who cleaned the cage or filled the water last just didn't look and squished animals. Last night I was in and a mouse was trapped under a wheel from the same type of situation I assume. The ferrets cafe is ridiculously small and overcrowded and the cat cages are abysmally small, they should be ashamed that they keep cats in tiny cages right by the dig grooming area that noisy with barking dogs. They obviously don't have an animal care specialist setting up their cat area or they wouldn't have places it there. Every cat there looked stressed and sad. I watched a groomer tearing at a dogs fur while brushing it and walk away from him while he was three feet off the ground and hooked to a tether. If that dog had jumped he would have broken his neck. Please hire better people and keep an eye on your employees until you're sure they are meant to work with helpless animals. Two years ago we purchased rats for pets and the guy grabbed them by their tails to pull them out of the cage, anyone who knows anything about rodents knows not to do this, so I see training has not improved since then with my recent observations. Every time I'm in there I see something sketchy, please train your people! read more

I have always had great service at Petco. It is true that you have to search for what you want, but the checkers are always wonderfully friendly and one of them even has her adorable little dog with her sometimes. This is a review of a puppy training class and its trainer, Arlen. We got a new Labrador Retriever puppy in March 2018 and signed up for Puppy Training 1 at Petco Aurora Village in Shoreline WA. Having had 3 dogs over the past 15 years, we've been to several training classes and Trainer Arlen is the best dog trainer in the business. His approach is positive, rewards-based, effective and really fun. We cover sit, lay down, wait, and introductory leash training in class. Arlen is good with each and every dog in the class. Our puppy is so excited when we pull up to Petco because he knows Arlen is waiting inside. We were so pleased with Arlen and his training methods that we have signed up for Puppy Training 2. Brought 2 of my dogs in for shampoos. I do this 4-5 times a year. My dogs have been going here for years, last visit was 3 months ago, I believe Mary was their groomer and everything went smoothly. Last week I dropped them off - less than 25 minutes later I get a call asking me to come pick them up. One dog didn't want a bath - so they didn't bathe him - really?? the other one they claim to have washed - but did not dry her - and I have my doubts that they actually shampooed her. So...I had to take my dogs, one of them soaking wet, elsewhere to be shampooed. I hadn't seen this girl before - she may have been new, clearly didn't know her job - to top things off they tried to charge me for this - FOR WHAT??? NEVER GOING BACK!! read more

For FOUR HOURS in a cage waiting for a bath, is what this Petco Aurora Village pet grooming service does. That was shocking to me. We repeatedly asked to make a bath appointment that day. But they wouldn't, even when you personally walk in with your dog. At three o'clock in the afternoon, they said to us, "just leave your dog here and we'll get to him." You say you'll wait or shop inside the petco store and come back in an hour, and instead they'll say, "No, you can pick him/her up at 7:00 o'clock pm.." If the puppy-dog wasn't so dirty and long-nailed, I'd've spun around and had my family take on the puppy. But on a day like that. Oh, I hated that. The price for that particular pup's services was about $27.00. Larger dogs cost more. I just can't do that anymore. read more
