I scheduled a grooming appointment well in advance and provided all of the required information for both of our dogs, including our veterinarian's name, location, and phone number in case of any issues. Both dogs are fully vaccinated, and our oldest dog has even been groomed here before, so this information should have already been on file. When my husband brought them in for their appointment, he was turned away because staff claimed they did not have the necessary information. This was extremely frustrating, especially since the documentation was also attached to our dog's collar. My husband and I both work over 60 hours a week, so we had to carefully plan ahead for this appointment. This was the only time we had available, and instead of any attempt to help resolve the situation, he was treated rudely and sent away. When I later called to ask about what happened, the manager had a very poor attitude and spoke to me in a condescending manner, as if I were a child. That level of customer service is unacceptable. We will be taking our pets elsewhere in the future. I do not appreciate being talked down to, especially when we did everything we were supposed to do well in advance. Grooming salon is wonderful. The staff is patient, was gentle with my dog and it was my dog's first time being groomed. She's a Golden Retriever. She came out of the salon so pretty and completely coifed... what a treat!! Maria and CJ were great! I didn't get the young man's name but he was attentive, too. What a truly dismal retail experience. The Spokane Valley/Veradale location of Petco is a "prime" example of what is driving people to shop on Amazon and away from the brick and mortar shops "of the local community." Every time I visit this store the sales floor is a travesty. Regardless of the time of day, several of the aisles are completely unshoppable and entire sections of the store are inaccessible due to mountains of to-be-stocked freight, and piles of cardboard refuse. Yes, there is a global pandemic and retailers are struggling with finding associates- but there are plenty of other local retailers facing the same struggles that are able to maintain a MUCH more acceptable retail environment. read more

I went to buy food for my dogs. The sales kid was rude as can be, he then had another gal help me who was equally or more rude than the kid. Fine whatever, I then got a survey in my email and was asked what I thought of service, well I was honest. A manager or something replied and said he'd scold them, well in the process I was sent a 65$ bag of food on the reoccurring automatic send you site. Sure, their customer service is friendly (if a little... Unique.. In appearance) but they DO NOT take care of their animals. There was a red tailed boa on "75% off clearance" that was on the brink of death. Starved, ragged and just in plain rough shape. They had a ball python as well, sitting at 76 degrees (should be around 83) and 33% humidity (should be above 60%!!), that poor thing was starved, didn't have a hide (they NEED HIDES!) and trying to throw a shed but couldn't because the humidity was too low. 8 koi fish in a 5 gallon cube? That's cruel! 7 dead beta fish just sitting on the shelf? This isn't the first time I've seen this kind of animal treatment at a Petco and I can't believe someone hasn't done something about this yet! read more

I was extremely disappointed in the grooming service I received for my dog today. Last time I brought him to this location I was very pleased with the grooming and treatment he received and the staff was so nice. This time it was a different story. When I dropped my dog off for his bath, the staff member who was going to take care of my dog told me he has strep throat. When I told him "I hope my dog doesn't get sick," he told me that "dog's don't get strep throat." After I left, I consulted with my veterinarian who told me that while dogs do not get strep throat, they can get another bacteria from being around someone with strep throat and can get very sick. I called the store back and was told there was no one else to groom my dog and that they had already started his bath but they could stop and I could pick him up; however, I could not do this as I had already left to get back to work and there was a snow storm. I said just to go ahead and do him but that I didn't understand why someone who had strep throat was working with dogs, or working at all. After more thought, I made a complaint with Petco home office. They ended up calling the store and Zack from that store (maybe the manger) spoke to the gentleman with possible strep throat and he told Zack that he had a sore throat but not strep throat. That is not what he told me, but regardless I don't think he should have been working. So now I'm think if he has a sore throat, who's to say he doesn't have Covid. My mom had a brain tumor earlier this year and I do not want to get her sick. This is the main reason for this review and my disappointment. Normally it takes 4 hrs to do my dog, but they texted me less than 2 hrs that he was ready. I picked him up and he was wet. The worker told me they can't do my dog anymore because he bit at him. My dog does not bite and is not aggressive. He nips a little bit, but that's not abnormal for a puppy, and if he nips then stop doing what you're doing. When I brought him to this location last time, no one said anything about him biting or nipping. The worker attached the leash to his dog tag, not the collar, and it broke and the dog took off in the store. I told him and he didn't come help me get him. I called the store after I left to inquire about this nipping. The girl I spoke to stated that he only nipped when they tried to comb his mats out around his face and ears but no other time. So, if that's the case then why not stop doing that and just let it be. The mats were still there when I picked him up. Also, my appt was at 11am and they didn't take him until almost 11:30am because they couldn't get the computer to work. That part wasn't a huge deal. None of the staff in the grooming area were very friendly to me. Last time I was there they were great, but not this time. Previously, I had recommend this location for grooming services but I will no longer recommend. read more

I arrived and the lady says she has no record of my appt and she has another dog coming in and couldn't possibly get them both done. Terrible customer service, and over priced. I made a grooming appointment in which they looked up my dogs profile and background, and there were no issues. I went into the store the next day for the appointment, and they turned me away due to out of date rabies info. Fair enough on having to turn me away, but to look at my dogs profile, set an appointment and not say a thing until I come in, that's complete BS. In these days of declining customer service it is always a balm to receive good and true SERVICE. I buy my pets' food here because they carry the brands I like - natural balance & proplan. Their prices are good, the store is clean and the service is always friendly. Today (June 9) I went in to get my 10th bag of dog food so I could recieve my free bag on their frequent buyer plan. Only problem, they were out of the one I needed. I asked if they had any in back -nope. I expressed my disappointment and was prepared to walk off in resignation. As I was leaving, an associate, Shawn, stopped me a told me he could call and get my date extended so I could still benefit from the program. And that he did and now I have extra time to meet the requirements! Very nice and a happy surprise. read more

Really nice lady. She took great care of my senior pup. Everything went smoothly and my pup was happy! What more can you ask for! She's wonderful! Decent service if you can get any, but good luck with that. I just moved to town and was looking for my go to pet store and was also looking into training for my dog, well I definitely didn't find that here. I went to this Petco yesterday with my family to get a couple goldfish and a few other things. We asked an employee at the register if we could get some help in aquatics since they have to get the fish for you. After 15 minutes of waiting after they paged someone, I had to go ask again. The employee seemed so surprised I hadn't received help yet and came to help himself. I told myself maybe it was just a bad day and I'll try again. Return the next day for a few more things including a few more fish. Again, I ask for help. Again I wait 15 minutes. I then ask again, at which point another customer even says how ridiculous it is how long I've been waiting. 10 minutes later, total of 25 minutes standing waiting by the fish tanks, I put down the other supplies I planned on purchasing and walked out the door, and I will never return. Two days in a row I wasted 40 minutes waiting for help when they were not busy, but clearly too busy to help anyone. Looks like I'll be spending my money elsewhere. Update 10/27/16: Unfortunately nothing was ever "done to make things right". All I got was an email saying basically the same thing as their response on Yelp. Think twice before bringing your pet here for grooming services. Only reason I didn't give one star is the young man who worked on our dog did a decent job. Our appointment was supposed to be at 3pm. Dropped dog off 10 minutes early. We were way off. It took them till 7:15 pm! That's right people, over 4 hours to groom an 8 pound little dog! To top it off, no manager on site to complain too after 7pm. A phone call hours earlier to say they couldn't get to her on time would of been nice. We won't be making this mistake again. read more

Okay--it's hard to get a view of this store from the other reviews already written, they are all really negative or pretty positive. I only have a dog and 3 cats, and we are really close to this Petco, so I go there fairly often. When my two oldest kitties quit eating their regular foods, I got 1 of everything they had. Angel (17) was sick & had arthritis, she'd lost a lot of weight and it wasn't long before she wouldn't eat or drink at all. We had to let her go; Tipper (1 month shy of 128) used to weight over 25 lbs, he had diabetes, arthritis and cancer, and he held on longer than anyone expected, but when he quit eating or drinking, the vet said it was time. I still cry about them. BUT--we have always had good experiences there. I've never even looked at other animals, but I will now. My daughter and her son are the reptile, fish, arachnid people. I will get her to go with me and we can see what she thinks. I have to take a cat & a dog on Sat. for immunizations; my husband takes our dog in for bathing & nail trimming and hasn't had any negative things to say. I'll be back after that with what I find out then. read more
