Silver Oak, under Leah's leadership and vision, has been transformed into a horse oasis and a…read moresanctuary for their owners. She puts her heart and soul into making sure horses and humans are safe and loved. My mare recently suffered a bout of laminitis and Leah was there night and day, going above and beyond to keep Flame comfortable. Knowing that Leah was treating Flame as her own was more support than I could have ever hoped for and demonstrated that she is the consummate horse person in it for all the right reasons. The standard of care she provides is excellent: high-quality feed, deep bedding, attention to detail for grain, supplements, meds, blanketing, etc. Large outdoor arena with varied jump standards, covered indoor arena w/ lights and dressage mirrors, and trails through the forest and surrounding hills, provide year-round riding for a variety of disciplines and interests. Stalls with attached runs, large daily turnouts, and pastures where horses can be horses create a stress and drama-free environment for both horse and owner. The property is fenced and requires a gate/security code, owners live on the property, and Leah and her staff truly know horses so that horses, clients, equipment, etc. are always safe and secure.

The work that she has done with my new, young mare has been amazing. My horse, who less than three months ago spooked at everything, paced and couldn't calm down is now a happy girl who is a joy to take on the trails. Silver Oak offers a large indoor arena, outdoor arena, trails, well-organized tack and feed storage, a nice variety of paddock options, many options for turnout, numerous grooming and bathing stations, and more. It's really a great facility!

Yet tonight when I…read morewent to Chalk Hill Ranch to spend time with my beloved horse, I am reminded of why I moved here. Because my horse and his daily experience is such a high priority for me, I first had to ensure that I found a proper home for him and then I could find my own home. Finding Chalk Hill Ranch was one of the best experiences I have had in the 17 years With my horse. Tonight he carried me back onto the trails for the first time. We had many years riding the trails in the Berkeley Hills and tonight was very special. He and I both experienced great peace in the beauty of the natural environment- the creek, the trees, the birds. And my heart was reminded that this is why I moved. We found a sacred ranch with beautiful people and loving care. We are so grateful.

With access to trails, an outdoor arena, lit indoor arena, obstacle course, and a round pin you truly can't ask for much more. It is a peaceful environment and everyone truly cares about the wellbeing of your horse. It's the type of place where if I can't make it out for a few days I am not nervous. I know if something was amiss with my horse I'd be notified which provides me with a ton of peace of mind.

My partner and I did a private Eagle View ride, and on our horseback riding hike, a couple of the staff members chatted with us while guiding us along the trail. My partner was hoping that they'd share a little more about horses or the trail, but I didn't mind so much. The staff also helped us take photos. When we got back, the staff let us hang out with the other horses past our hour, and I think we stayed for another 20 minutes brushing horse manes and taking pictures.

I understand it can be challenging for trail groups when there's a mixed group like ours - one advanced, some intermediate, and the rest beginners - but Five Brooks made it so every single one of us had an enjoyable time! We chose the Salmon Creek 1.5 hour ride and had a blast with our guide, Jay. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get that close to the creek as I thought we would from other reviews and the description on the website, but maybe it was due to our group size (7 + guide) or our mixed levels of experience. We did get a few opportunities to trot, and the sights were gorgeous. I may have fallen in love with my horse, Cody, a beautiful palomino (which is saying something because I have a palomino of my own at home) but he was so responsive that I really enjoyed riding him. I have family in the area, so I'm already trying to plan my next trip so I can go ride with this group again!
