I scheduled and canceled Ollie's euthanasia appointment four different times because I just wasn't ready, and they never once made me feel guilty or pressured. They even allowed me to arrive and then back out when I couldn't go through with it. That level of kindness and humanity is something I will never forget. When the time finally came, they gave Ollie such a peaceful, dignified passing, and gave me the space and support I needed. I also want pet owners to be aware that many veterinary clinics today are owned by VCA Animal Hospitals, which is part of Mars Corp. the same company behind well-known candy brands. Since that corporate takeover, many practices have become more expensive with vets and staff paid commissions on what procedures they sell! Wine Country Veterinary Hospital is independent and not owned by VCA/Mars, and it truly shows not only in their fair pricing, but in the genuine, heartfelt care they give. She succeeded in diagnosing and treating my bulldog when the Veterinarian that I had been with for the past ten years failed. He was more concerned talking about his personal life than my dog. Her name is Fur Elise but my son calls her "Fur Obese". The vet came with a truckload of vet stuff; he spent a good half hour with me before coming in to the house, talking about the cat issues and giving her a pill sedative so that he could examine her. He managed to corral her safely, wrap her in a cat blanket with a secure closure, and gave her an exam. He prescribed her some medications and gave me advice on feeding portions and types of cat food to consider. Very grateful for his thorough discussion with me. My cat is fine now, no longer vomitting, and has lost a little blubber.

When I arrived at the ER, Delilah was seen immediately and received medical attention right away. The team worked quickly to stabilize her, and throughout the entire process everyone was kind, respectful, and compassionate. A special thank you to Dr. Henry, who was wonderful during such a difficult time. She was honest, clear, and compassionate when explaining Delilah's condition and prognosis. She gave me her professional assessment while also supporting me through the heartbreaking decision to let Delilah go. Her kindness and empathy meant more to me than I can express. This was my first time visiting this hospital, as I had never needed emergency veterinary care before. Even though the circumstances were overwhelming and emotional, every staff member treated us with care and respect.
