WHAT THEY DO WELL The staff are professional and helpful. I've never has any issue getting an appointment in a reasonable mount of time. They are also good at working with insurance providers. The exam rooms are clean and provide ample privacy. (The same is not true for a competitor just down the road) ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT I Seemed to be at the mercy of the dentist on shift whenever I went in. I prefer a little more consistency for the sake of patient continuity. Unfortunately, while the service I received seemed great at the time, I ultimately ended up with 2 failed crowns, and each time was referred to an Endo for a root canal. In both cases, the root canal was halted mid-procedure due to the fact that the tooth was cracked to the bottom of the root in multiple places. The Endo claimed that in both cases the DDS should have seem this in x-ray and never crowned in the first. The only good option from the beginning was to extract and get an implant (or denture). Since this office doesn't perform those services, one can only guess they wanted to get paid for the crown work, costing me the patient thousands of unnecessary dollars and much discomfort. To be fair, the crown did postpone the extraction by several years. SUMMARY If you are just looking for cleanings and basic dentistry at a convenient location that is clean and accommodating, this is a great place. If you require any care of a more serious nature and want to work with someone you can trust, look elsewhere. read more

I have finally found a dentist where I feel confident that they actually care about my teeth/mouth. The staff is very knowledgeable and I feel like I'm in good hands. They have taken the burden off of me to know how often I should be getting my teeth looked at & what questions I should be asking. They got me on a regular check-up schedule and recommended a new toothbrush and new type of floss that have greatly improved the health of my teeth/gums. They also have the friendlist staff; everyone from the receptionist to the dental assistants to Dr. Yi himself is so kind and helpful. So happy to have this kind of care for my teeth finally. I'm a client of Dr. Yi for the last two to three years due to changing locations. I've generally problematic teeth that had dentists create more issues on it than actually fix it, except a few. I can say with full confidence that I trust Dr. Yi. He saved a molar I had from removal and an implant by referring me to the right orthodontist and doing a perfect job of a crown on a molar that takes the place of two teeth. All other dentists and orthodontists recommended removal because of the tricky case, all about 4 years ago, but with Dr. Yi explaining my options, and because my insurance was good I took the longer route to save that molar. He gave me full information to make a good decision. Thank to all of that, I have my natural tooth saved to this date. He's a great dentist. All other services like cleaning and such are also great! Here is where I confess that I came here not of my own volition; I was required to have my teeth checked up on. I have mixed feelings about visits to the dentist since it's kind of hard to reconcile all those tools in your mouth and making small talk with someone you see at most twice a year. Anyway, I came in early for my appointment and they were nevertheless able to squeeze me in. Really all they did was examine and X-ray my teeth. Dr. Yi said that my teeth looked good, which is somewhat surprising for a guy with over 620 Yelp reviews. He also mentioned that I need to floss more, and he recommended teeth whitening strips. This whole process was fairly quick; I was in and out in under fifteen minutes, although there really wasn't that much work to do. I didn't undergo surgery here or anything. It was just a simple and painless checkup that thankfully saved me a lot of time. Five stars for one of my easiest dental appointments ever. read more

My first session with the group was a great experience. The are friendly at the front desk. It is a nice clean office with private rooms. The location is right in the heart of the Junction. Only con is parking is all street on California ave or a neighborhood behind. My appointment was at 1100am and there were a few spaces open on California Ave. I got x-ray's, an annual exam, and a teeth cleaning. Then Dr. Yi did an additional overview with some time to ask questions. He was very nice. The dental Hygenist, Maureen, did the x-ray's, annual exam, and teeth cleaning. She was very thorough in her work and very considerate in her approach; asking how I was doing every few minutes and always making sure to drain the saliva that collects. I'm sure the rest of that team is great, but I can only speak to Maureen at this point. Overall, an excellent first experience. I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

I have been going to Dr. Yi for 28 years, since he took over Dr. Borish's practice and have never cancelled an appointment. I go faithfully every 6 months and have always paid on time. I lost my job this fall and wanted to just get a cleaning this Dec. since I have no insurance and will be paying out of what little saving I have left. I was told absolutely NOT, he will not do that, even tho I did once when his office had cancelled on me which put my appointments out of schedule (I like them each June and Dec.) to get it back on schedule and insurance wouldn't pay as it was too soon. I have called a couple other dentists and they say they would do just a cleaning if I were a regular patient of theirs. I will be getting a new dentist as soon as I have a job with that benefit again. In the mean time, Dr. Yi is more interested in making more money than in helping assist his current patients. Too bad he has no loyalty to the ones that have stuck with him since the beginning. read more

You can't lie to a dentist about your flossing habits. The writing's on the wall with that one. I don't floss as often as I should and that's why I get to take a few more trips back here to have some fillings put in. I don't mind going to the dentist and actually almost like it. The bi-annual cleanings are easy to schedule as Dr. Yi works Saturdays! I try to get in with him as early as possible. I used to live literally 1/2 a block away but since moving to Bellevue, it is a lot more inconvenient now, but that's okay. I really do like Dr. Yi and his staff. Everyone I've encountered have been really wonderful and very conscientious about making you comfortable. As everyone has mentioned Dr. Yi is upfront about everything without sounding scolding or judgey, thank you for not making me feel guilty for my chocoholic tendencies. The Front desk staff is great, I can email asking about appointments and also what estimated costs are with prompt replies. I appreciate this attention to customer service as most dental insurance plans aren't as comprehensive as medical and being able to plan for a small hit to the wallet is really helpful. read more

Full disclosure: I have extreme anxiety of the dentist, and since i didn't have insurance for a long time, I hadn't been to see a dentist in almost a decade. I was terrified about what they'd find, and how they'd treat me since my last dentist was a total jerk. (To be fair, his hygienist was a jerk, the dentist himself was just judgy). Dr. Yi was referred to me by Summit Implants and Oral Surgery after I swallowed a crown in August. The specific requirements I had were someone who was non-judgmental, thorough, and friendly. Dr. Yi and his staff met all of these requirements! First, his hygienist was incredible. She was very knowledgeable a so helpful. She helped ease my stress right away. She did my cleaning, was very careful about my sore wisdom teeth, and actually was complimentary about my oral hygiene given the time that it's been since my last dental visit (only 2 cavities!) Then I met Dr. Yi, and he was exactly what I needed. Very to-the-point and we came up with an action plan so that I knew what to expect from my next visits. I'm a huge planner, so this was grateful to have some sort of plan for the next 6, 12, and 18 months, starting with my wisdom extractions, fillings, and a potential trip to the orthodontist. Fresh out of college in 2003, I randomly chose him because his office was nearby and he had good reviews on CitySearch (pre-Yelp) and I have continued to visit, twice a year. He and his staff are first rate, and it has been great to "grow up" with them. My 85 year old grandparents started as patients when they relocated, and he has gained the adoration of my grandmother, who ran a dental office "back in the day." I am so disappointed with this place. I've been a patient of Dr Yi's for 20 years or more(!), but for the past 5 years it has simply been impossible to get a reasonable appointment, they are always booked 6 months out. That's not what you're looking for when you choose your long-term dentist, it has literally affected the quality of my teeth. And this time, after waiting those 6 months and finally getting my time in the chair, I chatted with the office in advance to verify the time and date. The front desk not only wrote down the wrong phone number but also told me the wrong day(!), causing me to miss the appointment, then they continued the offense by charging me $50. Subsequent calls to Dr. Yi have gone unanswered. And now he sends a letter terminating our relationship because I'm obviously not going to pay for a scheduling error that was made by his own staff! The good news is we won't have to wait for 6 months any longer to see "our dentist", I'm moving the whole family to Dr. Holliday also in the Junction who is totally awesome and trustworthy. read more

Visited DR. YI for evaluation and second opinion on a major problem under a permanent bridge. The office staff was courteous and professional. The visit was prompt. The X-ray technician was very good, offering insight into what he could see. Dr. Yi was great. This was my dentist as well as that of my daughter until recently and a very strange incident happened while I was getting my teeth cleaned. Dr. Yi admitted to me that he was watching me while I was on my walks in my neighborhood,he was stalking me. he should have been treating his patients instead of watching me on my walks. This conversation happened right in front of his dental assistant, her eyes bugged out when she heard he was stalking me. I do not recommend this dentist. He is a creep! We have since found another dentist who we feel more comfortable with that is local. It also got really weird when we realized that Emma and Laura no longer worked there and both left at the same time, we never clicked with the new billing and receptionist. Something happened for most of his office staff to suddenly stop working there. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Yi- came here thinking to get a tooth looked at. During my evaluation they found another tooth with a deep cavity that may or may not need a root canal. It turns out I did need one, and a crown- and I needed everything done in about 2.5 weeks because I was traveling and getting married. Dr. Yi's office was super accommodating and squeezed me in a short time period to get all the appts in. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Hopefully I won't need any more root canals, but I will surely be back. read more
