They analyzed all the water points in the house determined it was just a quick cleaning of the water tank that was necessary. Despite being here over an hour only charged for the initial service call. They printed out an entire history of how they have serviced the water tank. I recently called Peter Snelton& Sons because my water just stopped. We are on a well. It took less than an hour to get someone out to look at it. His name was Rich and I have to say that our experience was really great. Rich explained the issue, fixed the immediate problem and also explained the source of the issue. We were very happy with the recent service we received. Our water stopped working unexpectedly on a Friday evening around 8:00. After leaving an after hours voicemail, I promptly got a return call and arrangements were made for them to come out first thing the next morning. Luke and his crew came on short notice when our well system stopped working. We were quoted a really high price by another company over the phone and to add insult to injury told us that they would not be able to get to us for another six to eight weeks. meaning no water for six to eight weeks. I was then told to think about connecting to city water, which would have been six to eight weeks as well and about 30,000 to 50,000 dollars to install the piping. Luke assessed the situation, took photos and explained the issues with our older well. He explained the different options. Class act service! Called them on Monday morning at 7AM and got an appointment on Weds. Ryan, who is awesome to talk to and is very parent and will answer your questions. He said "we have 4 families without water right now , and our office was closed last week because of Covid.... Had them out to check on a leak I had. Similar to the other experience, right away they saw an issue with my pressure tank (waterlogged) that they installed 12 yrs ago. Their replacement model is inferior to other options and their prices are extremely high. Not to mention that they didn't even try to repair the existing one. I drained it and then re pressurized it and it is no longer water logged. It has held for more than two weeks now. These tanks need maintenance and they didn't even recommend that or even try anything for their exorbitant service fee where they just looked over things. For what is worth, others have told me that they are really good with wells. But their crazy high quote for a pressure tank has soured me on them. read more

These guys came and pulled out our well pump and replaced it and made it look easy. All this was after a previous contractor came out and struggled with it for a couple of hours without success. They didn't recognize the well cap type, they didn't have the technique to connect to it and pull it out, and they didn't have the correct seals to use with the replacement pump even if they were able to pull the old one out. Peter Snelton & Sons recognized the well cap model right away, had well-rehearsed technique to pull out the sticky old pump, and had the right seals on hand to use with the new pump. They overcharge. And they collected a water sample to turn into Lake County, kept the sample for 4 days, lied on the Lake County form and then my sample came back positive for bacteria. No wonder! (Samples need to be turned into Lake County within 24 hours.) Instead go directly to the Lake County Health Department. They will give you the kits OR come to your house for a fraction of the cost. We had an emergency and ran out of water! Within 3 hours of our Friday call, Ryan showed up and expertly and professionally diagnosed our problem- and put up with a ton of questions! It turns out we needed not only a new pump but a tank as well and as you can imagine that's not cheap. Their patience, kindness and friendliness made it bearable. I appreciate their responsiveness and commitment to getting us water again in time for dinner! They put in a new pressure tank. Not very hard to do. They charged me over twice the cost of the exact tank I found online and labor was high. I could swallow the high labor but to charge $700 over on the tank's cost was ridiculous. My bad for not asking for a quote. read more

Avoid this service at all costs. These people do not care about their customers in any way. The guy who came and looked at our well was rude and was talking on the phone to someone complaining that we hadn't mowed our lawn in a while (lawn mower is broke). He was dismissive and rude. They were supposed to come fix our well pump on Monday. Well, it's now Thursday and nothing has been done. We were told on Monday that the work would be done on Wednesday morning. At 3PM, the work was still not done. One of the workers called my sister and said they would not be able to make it because the previous job was taking too long. After this, we called the office and were told that this was not the case. We were told that the guy would be there Wednesday evening after his job, regardless of the time. Well, we did not hear a word from them the rest of the night. When we called them this morning (Thursday, four days after the work was originally scheduled to be done), they said they were not able to fix it the previous night because another job took too long. However, they did not even have the decency to call us and let us know this. They said that they "possibly" would be able to make it in on Saturday but couldn't guarantee it. We have been without a working well pump for over a week and a half now. We called a competitor and they were able to schedule us tomorrow morning for repair. Do not use Snelton, they are unprofessional and should not even be running a business. Money does not go nearly as far as it used to, so customer service is an important deciding factor in where to spend one's money. These people obviously do not care for their customers and should never be the recipients of your money. read more

This is my first time to write review, but I felt I am obliged to do so! Will never use their service again! They don't respect customer, did not complete the work as they quoted me, and had to return one the second day, and they upsell expense products that are not even needed! We live in Long Grove with private well, with a need to replace a malfunctioning pressure switch, gauge, shut off valves and pipes in between. Called them up and came out on the same day. I was at work and my in-law called me saying that per the technician, we need to replace the water tank ASAP because it rusted out from bottom, which costs extra $1200! (when I call back their office, Peter Snelten said it should be $1000) The guy try to sell their fiberglass water tank because "it never rust", and said the life span of a water tank is 8-12 year (as I later found out, that's probably true for fiberglass tank but metal tank last twice as much). I did not replace it right away because I don't like to be rushed to make a decision without any research. I am so glad I did not fall into their sales tricks! I called 4 different well drill companies around, and all told me to stay away from fiberglass water tank due to its infamous quality issues because they are cheaply built, over priced, and expect to last HALF of time a blue stainless steel tank does! The quote I got is anywhere from $675 - $850 for replacing my water tank (v.s. $1200 quoted by one of the young Sneltens on site), and all with 7-year waranty instead of 5-year offered by Snelten. Based on my research and conversation with other well service providers, I truly believe Snelten was using scare tactics to sell me their fiberglass water tank. The rust of my metal tank is caused by condensation of moisture in basement, it's outside, not inside. For metal tank, the water is saved in rubber bladder, and will not in contact with metal at all. If there are any rust, it is normally not rust from inside (unless the bladder breaks, in which case your tank will not function), but just surface rust that can be cleaned and treated. If they are in business since 1920s, they should know it better than any consumers. Based on conversation with other well service providers, I ran some tests, and it looks my water tank is functioning well. That's not the end of it. After I return from work, I found out that they only replaced pressure switch, but not the rusty gauge which was part of the repair and was paid for (FYI: Menards have the pressure switch and guage set for $20). I thought I also requested to replace drainage valve and main shut off valve, but they only replaced the main shut off valve. I called Peter, he was surprised that the gauge was not replaced even though it was quoted and paid for, but would send someone to replace it. I told him that I thought I mentioned two valves need to be changed (the one right above and right below the gauge), but they only replace one. Then Peter shocked me with the reply, "Don't start with that CRAP!". What? Is this the way the business owner talks to their customers??? This is the last time I would use their service. If they charge more for their service and products, you would expect better service and products, but my experience with them is very opposite! read more

They even gave me the exact specs for a pump from a home improvement store. These guys came out and told me I needed about $2,000 worth of repairs including a new well pump. I called a local plumber who told me I just needed to change a $30 filter. We did that and everything has been fine for about 6 months now. However, they keep sending me a bill for $200 and the owner himself called me looking for the money. I politely told him that sending a guy here for less than 5 minutes and then blatantly lying about what work needed to be done is not worth $200. I just got another bill today and decided to look on yelp and now see there are many others that this company has mislead and/or overcharged. Let the $200 go Mr. Snelton, these bad ratings are costing you much more. Please send me a confirmation of eliminating the frivolous charges you are trying to collect.
