Love the class! Really appreciated the beginners lesson before the class started so I could understand the instructions!

Amazing work out, great trainers, worth every penny! I've been a member for over 3 years and continue to love the gym and the workouts. Last summer, I moved and cancelled my membership, but after trying out multiple other gyms-nothing measured up!! The fighter conditioner classes are like no other work out you can get at other gyms. The trainers and staff are friendly and really know what they are doing. There is zero intimidation factor at this gym-everyone is there to work hard, no matter what level you are at. I have recently participated in the 6 week training camp with Sam and it was great-even signed up for a 2nd 6 week session! I recommend Peter Welch's to everyone and anyone! read more

I have been going to Peter Welch's since 2010 and even though I've moved several times since then, I've never found a better gym with a better team of trainers and instructors. Peter Welch's boxing conditioning classes are full of cardio, strength and boxing drills perfect to get your heart rate up. I took my first class here last week and absolutely loved it. I felt safe during these Covid times, everyone wore their mask and everything was well sanitized. The bathrooms and workout equipment were very clean. The workout was a great challenge. The instructor was very motivating and helpful when I had any questions. The music was very motivating as well. I was sore the next day, which is a sign of a great workout! I will definitely be going back to PWG multiple times a week! Just finished trying a class here. We've never done boxing before but absolutely loved the class. We arrived early and Jonathan walked us thru what to expect. The class was cardio, core, legs, upper body - total workout. Gym was clean and not intimidating. Loved the variety of ages and even mix of male and female ratio. Jonathan and James were great. Awesome gym! Actually, I only take the fighting conditioning classes, I think that is what most people do. The classes kick your butt and go by so quickly. You spend time jump roping, doing bag work, shadow boxing, sprints, etc. Very high intensity. It reminds me if the Insanity workouts from Beachbody if anyone is familiar with them. All the instructors are great - no class is the same. I do feel like membership is pretty pricey compared to most gyms, especially if you just go for classes alone and never touch anything else, but once you are hooked you can probably justify the price. (About 100+ a month...less if you sign on with a long term commitment and pay upfront). Also -this is not a regular gym - you wont find cardio or tv's here - strictly a boxing gym - ring in the center, heavy bags everywhere. read more

Best gym and around! I've been a member for 10 years and I still get excited every day to go to class. Peter, the owner, cares about all members and know all of them by name. Trainers and classes are awesome. I have been doing a small group training with Jonathan Rosenthal aka Rosy and it is the best training I've ever had. I can't say enough good things about this place. The workout is FANTASTIC, the instructors will help you without making you feel new or out of shape and the fitness results are amazing. I'm an avid runner and have never been able to stick to a weight training/cross training plan because I get bored or don't want to do it by myself. This is the perfect solution: great cardio, all over weight training, core work and a lot of fun. I sometimes beg for the hour to be over, but I never leave not wanting to come back again really soon. read more

Despite it's hard to find location and tricky parking situation, this gym is totally legitimate. 50 minute boxing class which incorporates cardio, weight lifting and bag work makes for an intense I'm-going-to-puke-my-guts-out experience which is completely worth it in the end. I've been going to Peter Welch's gym for three years now- three to four times a week - usually the 5:30AM class... I look forward to the workouts each day & hate missing class. Great idea to mix up trainers, so you get a different workout each class. Chris and Derrick's classes will definitely make you wish during class you never came but after so glad you did. They are intense! Two things I think they could improve on is adding core work to end each class! And their women's locker room- for the amount of people & money per month they could definitely make it nicer! Overall, a great place to make friends and get your a** handed to you with a great workout! read more

First time Peter ask me to try out his gym I was a bit uncomfortable, I said to him "I don't box, nor do I know how to." He insisted I give it a try and since then I never left, it's going on two years now and I can say this is the ONLY gym I can say I want to work out and I truly enjoy it. I've joined many other gyms in the past, but overall Peter Welchs gym has transformed me mentally and physically. I've noticed my whole body toner than it's ever been and I love the energy from the classes. All the staffs are very nice and helpful, they want you to learn the proper techniques and they sure give you a heck of a workout every time. read more

Unbelievable. I was afraid to check it out. I felt embarrassed even before I got there - I'm in the worst shape I've been in years! Fractured toe and chubby...ugh! I swear I forget my age when I'm there. I forget whatever horrible number my jerk bathroom scale reads that morning. I forget whatever stress life is presenting. The guys in here are great. Doesn't matter if you're a world renowned athlete or an out of shape couch potato, they really care about your well being and do everything they can to help you get in shape and be the best you can be. I've worked with nick nelson, great guy - very tough workouts, lol, but he wants to see you succeed. I would highly recommend this gym anyday. I've had Nick Nelson a few times, who is a great instructor because he'll pay attention to the needs of people working out. An environment with a lot of encouragement to keep going and push yourself. PWG is the place to be. I've been a member for almost two years. The workouts are addictive and have completely changed my body. Learning to throw a punch has given me a great boost in confidence and is great for stress relief. I've take the fighter conditioning, fighter strength, technique, and private training. I joined Peter Welch's Gym in August at the recommendation of some friends. The workout is fun and challenging and has worked for me as I have lost 13 pounds and built some muscle. Both the conditioning and strength classes are group classes which makes the process not less challenging but fun to work out with others. The staff is very knowledgeable and always coming up with new workouts daily based on an existing foundation of exercises. The boxing theme is great as hitting the bag and partnering up on combinations really makes your arms burn. An incredible workout and experience!! I've been going to Peter Welch's for a year and a half, and I am this gym's #1 fan. I am big runner, but I tend to get bored by running every day. At Peter Welch's, there is NO chance of ever getting bored - in fact, quite the opposite! It's a new workout every time, and it keeps us all on our toes. Moreover, it's FUN! This is by far the best workout I have ever had - and I know others agree. We all leave there completely sweaty and exhausted...and on fire and excited for the next class! This is without a doubt the best workout in all of Boston. I never used to be able to motivate to work out on the weekends until I found Peter Welch's. My body is completely transformed after just doing an average of 1 class a week for the past year - I am stronger, leaner, and generally feel amazing. I love that the gym is no frills and how incredible all of the instructors are, especially Eric and Jen. HOLY AMAZING WORKOUT. Their fighter conditioning class is a total body, challenging for all levels kind of workout. I went with a friend (which I would recommend because they do have you pair up and I'm not a fan of working with strangers) and it was pretty gratifying after a long week to beat the @#$! out of a punching bag, while alternating cardio/strength drills. Bring a towel (there are some drills on your back and the floor can get a little sweaty) and gloves/wraps if you have them. I also brought my own jump rope because I'm picky like that. I would also say that there are limited lockers in the locker room - so get there early if you want to lock your stuff up (assuming you're not driving there). Pretty much smack in the middle of Andrew/Broadway stops on the Red Line. Guys on phone/at desk could not have been nicer (first class was free), and my friend and I are going to try and make this class at least a 1x/week thing. read more

Just went tonight for a free intro. training class. It was AMAZING. Such a good workout, with an enthusiastic staff and supportive members. I learned the basic left and right jabs, and we did conditioning in between punches. It was a great total-body workout and the help I received as a first-timer was awesome (along with other first-timers)! I've heard of other boxing gyms that pay little attention to those with a free trial, but was so pleased that Peter Welch's Gym offered the attention I was looking for! I highly recommend this gym to anyone for a great workout and motivational environment. I have to admit, I was nervous that I would feel awkward, but I felt so welcomed. I will absolutely be starting off with the 10-class package, and possibly even look into personal training! Thank you to the staff for making it such a great experience! read more

Joined about a year ago a little more $ a month than most Gyms,but if your serious about getting in shape & hate to run or have had a running injury its the best strength/cardio workout you can get! Guys/Girls all ages,shapes,& sizes go & everybody is friendly from the instructors to the patrons. Love Boxing always wanted to learn but work,work,work got in the way.Go to 1 class & your hooked even when I miss a week or more I go back to it & glad I do.My only problem is not getting here enough because of work but classes start early in the morning & end 6 or 7 at night so "No Excuses"! Peter Welch's gym has a fantastic kids boxing program. I have watched them work with the kids several times now, and the youthful friendly staff make it nothing short of remarkable. Think of it as a fun, interactive workout with some boxing instruction for kids 5 - teen. I've been coming to Peter Welch's Gym for just over a year now, and it is hands down the best workout you will ever get. The fighter conditioning classes, which are an hour, are a total body workout that will leave you completely beat, but excited for the next one. Each class consists of jumping rope, free weight dumbbell exercises, various plyometric routines, and of course punching! Each trainer has their own unique routine/workout that they continually changing in order to keep you on your toes!
