12 Volt battery dead on my dad's 2012 Lexus. AAA could jump it, but couldn't replace. I thought I'd just replace it myself when I was told NO some recalibration with the cars computer needs to be done. That's when the tow company suggested Peterson's. I called Peterson's and told them the pickle I was in with my dad's car. Left a message and they called me back in about an hour. Said they were back up about 2 weeks with appointments. Ryan said he could squeeze me in for the battery the next Monday I was in town. That was such a relief. I need this car operational for my 80+ parents. Jumped it myself and drove it over. Ryan was expecting me. Replaced the battery AND saw I had a low tire notification. He topped off the tires. I also needed some replacement clips for the engine cover, because of my amateur poking around I broke them. Ryan looked up the part and how many I'd need as I left the cover home. He gave me 4 clips. Big thank you for helping a daughter out so her 88 year old dad won't be mad. Next time it needs servicing I won't drive it to Sacramento where I live. These guys (Ryan helped me at the desk and Randy worked on both my cars so far) here seem very helpful especially for as busy as they are, and they still make sure to address all your questions/concerns. I got brake work done on both my 2006 Toyota Priuses and they did a great job! They also used OEM Toyota parts which is even better in my opinion. This team is all-star. Ryan frequently knows exactly what's going on with my car from a verbal description of a problem (phone or in person) and has been able to tell me how long it'd take to fix and a general estimate of cost. I've been amazed at how cheap some service items have been with them (they often don't charge labor for small things like replacing bulbs), and for the more expensive service items their prices are reasonable and he'll tell me what's wrong, and let me know whether it's a critical item so that I can decide if it's worth servicing or not. Often, when it's not, he's suggested I don't service it yet. They're also usually fast for most service I've needed and their time estimates are good - I don't think I've ever had to wait longer than expected to get my car back if I've left it with them. Overall, I trust this shop quite a lot - far more than others I tried before I had a Toyota that I could bring to Petersons. If you have a car that they service, I really suggest that you give them a try. read more

I truly wish I could give more than 5 stars for Art and his business. My girlfriend and I were in Nevada City on a long road trip. We had pushed our 2006 Toyota Prius to it's limit. We were on our way to find a camp spot and around 4:45 our MAIN CAUTION symbol lit up. Then our HYBRID SYSTEM ALERT light lit up. The manual said to stop driving immediately and call a Toyota dealer. The closest dealer was about an hour away and didn't have an apt. for 5 days. They told us not to drive the car any further and get it towed to their place. I didn't like that answer, so we called Art. It was now 5:05pm. When we told him the car still ran fine, he told us to drive to him, he closes at 5:30. We got there around 5:20. He hooked the car up to his computer and after about 5 mins, he walked to the back of the car and said "I'm gonna show you what your problem is." With that he popped the trunk, pointed to our fully packed car and said "this." All our stuff was preventing the battery fan to work properly. He moved some things around and said "that should do it." He reset the lights and said "Have a good camping trip". The amount of relief that swept over my girlfriend and I was indescribable. And then the same amount of admiration for Art swept over the both of us. There we were, clearly from out of town, clearly clueless about what was going on with our car, hoping for the best, prepared for the worst. He gave us, not only the best news we could have asked for, but he didn't even charge us! Not only that, he pointed us in the right direction of an AMAZING camping spot by the Yuba River!! (which we went to) Car trouble on a long road trip can be the difference between a dream or a nightmare. Not only did Art make this into an incredible dream experience, but we now have a "most honest mechanic in the world" story. Thank you Art, for being a good man. A very good alternative to the Auburn Toyota service department. My Sienna is not a hybrid, and they fixed the stereo for $50 less than the local car stereo specialist quoted. So don't let the word "hybrid" scare you away. They repair all Toyotas. read more

On of the rebuilt axles I had installed in my 2008 Subaru just over a year ago went bad. I was horrified because these things are expensive and I was told it would last much longer. Ryan (Petersen's main-man-in-the-shop while Art is recovering from knee surgery) convinced the dealer to give me a new rebuilt axle at a little over cost and then he had it installed it without charge. now that's service!
