Well this place was hard to find although it was well worth it . My sister seen this on Khontv2. So she told me let's go check it out. We finally got there and there's really no visible signage but we parked in a area looks like a clinic. In the lobby of the building there was a Longs pharmacy. There it was Pete's Belly Bustazs we ordered some homemade dressing a French, Somen and oriental. We also brought some salsa back to the hotel room to try . We also ordered cheese burger to go sorry no pics because I was so hungry and it was very good. Homemade patty with lettuce, tomato and cheese. Went here because of reviews from Yelpers and a KHON TV spot. Bought a couple of bottles of salad dressing which was featured on KHON. We also bought a couple of cheese burgers. It's a little crowded for parking but the food is worth it. Patties are homemade and the people are friendly. It's just a walk up window for take out but it's a great place to grab some good food. Caravalho Park isn't too far away where you can park and eat your food if needed. read more

I would give 4 stars for choices, friendliness and speed but need to focus on the food itself. I got one of the daily specials, Curry chicken stew that came w/rice and potato/Mac salad $8.75. It came out within 2 mins. and nice and warm. But the downside was it was more of a potato curry w/carrots and bits of chicken morsels in the curry gravy, no actual chunks of chicken. Basically it was a carb bomb of potatoes, rice and pasta. The veggies and curry were cooked good but everything completely bland, no spice/heat at all. Thankfully I had packets of S&P to help. Should have had a sandwich or salad I'm sure it would have been a better choice for me personally. read more

I have ordered food from Pete's over the course of ten years. Although I have not tried everything on their menu, I have tried their regular bentos, snacks, and specials. PLUSES The quality of their food has been very consistent since the first time I ordered a bento from here. When I'm craving for a plate of freshly fried chicken katsu, I can always expect that from Pete's. Unlike many restaurants in Hilo, they have always kept their quality of food the same. I've never had a problem with their service. I've never had to wait for more than 15 minutes; even with a long line. Since it's a order/pick-up restaurant, getting food here is simple. NOT SO IMPRESSIVE Personally, I'm not a fan of restaurants that have 50+ items on their menu. It's obvious that many of their ingredients are not fresh, and some of the dishes are mediocre. Their prices are reasonable, but don't expect anything impressive. It's too bad they close at 2:00pm. Awesome little hidden food shop. I tried as many different things as I could justify and I was pleasantly surprised with all of it. I ordered katsu with Korean sauce for my little brother and a regular breakfast plate for myself. I normally dont like fried food in the morning, but my little bro slept in and I didnt think the breading would hold up so I ate that instesd and gave him my breakfast plate. It was very tasty even tho it felt a little heavy for breakfast but that's on me not on them.They even deliver! I look forward to eating here agian and trying everything including the specials! To be honest I get excited to see the doc only because I will be close to this food. They have hands down the best plate lunch in Hilo. You can taste the love in delicious morsel. Korean chicken is my favorite. I'm not a. If fan of Mac salad however this place made it an addiction. I also love their Hawaiian plate they do. Everything I've had here for many years has only made me want to eat here more. If you want a amazing lunch I recommend calling your order in. This is a take out place. The salsa is the best on island too. They make their own chips and it is a perfect combo. The bento is good too if you get there in time to get one. For a hole-in-the-wall attached to a medical building, I'd say this place has pretty flavorful food. They have daily specials, come by and check out their revolving menu. I personally enjoy their spaghetti, which they usually serve on Thursdays. They have food made to order, as well as bentos and little desserts that are grab-n-go. They also have salads that are a pretty big portion! Can't say that I've tried everything on their menu, but their food has been consistent in the time I've been going there. Service is always fast and friendly. They open at 7am and close at 2pm, so don't wait too long to order their daily specials. They seem to slowly run out around noon-ish. Enjoy! read more

While visiting family, we happened to hear about Pete's. I had the somen salad and my husband enjoyed the traditional katsu plate. The somen dressing was delicious and the noodles just right that I ate my plate clean. This special restaurant is our favorite places to enjoy delicious, fresh, amazing local foods! Our son who is our oldest and also our youngest daughter LOVES the Chicken Katsu here. They will only eat Pete's Chicken Katsu. And my husband's favorite is the combo plate of Fish & Teriyaki Beef. Our other daughter loves the fresh Somen Salad or the Chicken Katsu too. My favorites are Chicken Katsu, Korean Chicken, or the Teriyaki Beef plate. The Mac salad is delicious. Their musubis usually always sells out before 10am. EVERYTHING TASTE GOOD AT Pete's. The salsa is amazing and fresh. Please go visit Pete's and try their onolicious food! They are so welcoming and so nice.
