VEGAN DINNER and a good dinner for all. Party of 6, we came for dinner after a busy Saturday at the Sheep and Wool Festival. We had a reservation and were seated with no wait. It's a very comfortable space and not noisy, so we were able to talk. As a vegan, I rarely get a coherent meal at a restaurant. So this was a pleasant surprise. Two of our six ordered and enjoyed the vegan Autumn Bowl of lentils with root vegetables. We enjoyed the crispy artichokes. Well executed. The sauce was spicy and enjoyed. Our party enjoyed Willow Salmon, with fennel orange salad: delish!; Pan Seared Trout was enjoyed; The duck breast was enjoyed. We got a bottle of red wine and some cocktails. All good . I had a strawberry margarita . We all had a good meal and a good time. Considering that the restaurant was not full, we felt the service was Slow. All of the staff were very nice. Bathroom was clean. Parking lot under the facility is large and adequate. Especially nice in rain and cold. A note about the Autumn Bowl: It's priced at $34 (all inexpensive components: lentils, carrots, squash), while the Mirbeau Burger (8 Oz CAB expensive Beef with bun, cheese, onions, portobello mushrooms, bordelaise, field greens, and fries) is priced at only $28! Also, the vegan Gelato is $3 more expensive than the regular Gelato. Why? The pricing doesn't make sense, and I think it should be re-evaluated. I'm grateful & appreciative for the vegan options. Had Christmas dinner for third year and it continues to be an outstanding dining experience. Service and ambience is not surprising. The quality of the food is amazing on a holiday with high volume. Our party of six was happy from foie gras and oyster appetizers to scallop, duck breast and steak entrees. The masterful pastry chef outdid herself with miniature Christmas trees filled with chocolate cake and mousse covered with green whipped cream "leaves". I came with a close friend for a late breakfast and I'm in love. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is warm and friendly. I also liked that they have a tray of readers for customers to use for reading the menu. Hubby will be happy about that!! First the coffee is good and they leave a pot at table for refills. I love that. Also they have non-dairy milks which made me very happy. I ordered the eggs Benedict with sausage instead of Canadian bacon. It came with a little salad and smashed fingerling potatoes cooked perfectly. My meal was delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. I can't think of anything I would change. My friend had the avocado toast with smoked salmon. I had a taste...I've never had smoked salmon this good. This place was great. We got some coffee and tea and then had some sourdough, stuffed French toast, and eggs Benedict on a veggie hash of sorts. The sauce with the veggies was awesome and that dish was my favorite. Everything else was good, but the veggie dish and my coffee stood out. We celebrated a milestone anniversary here and had an unforgettable experience. The service was outstanding, the upscale decor warm and elegant, and the food was incredible. The dining room is elegant and comfortable. Service is generally good and attentive but the food was just not good. The baked brie was not hot enough to be spreadable and the sweet jam on top of it made it too sweet. I got the mushroom risotto special and the cook must have forgotten to put any salt and used water instead of broth because it was so bland. I had to add salt on every bite. We were excited to dine at the Mirbeau/Willow to celebrate a special birthday. Our experience was marred by the complete lack of service. While the food has its merits, dinner specials and desserts were good, appetizers were extremely bland. We waited at least 15 minutes before any cocktail order was taken, once our entrees arrived no one came by to check on us for the rest of the meal. We would have loved to have had wine with our dinner, unfortunately our server was not to be found. Small things like repeatedly asking for more water (which was warm) could be avoided with frequent check-ins. In summary, while some of the food was enjoyable the service needs significant improvement to match the dining experience expected at Willow. read more

Absolutely a mess. We've been here 3 times now & it just got worse & worse each time. The first time we came we had a little snack which was a Brie dip at the bar, some oysters & a few cocktails which were great. & the bartender was so nice I think her name was Tori. That's literally the only reason for the 1 star. The second time we came for dinner everything was so bland & came out 45 minutes after it was ordered & was cold. So we had to send everything back & got a nice eyeroll from our waiter. The duck was bland, the steak was bland & the pasta was boring. The third time we tried this place was for lunch & not sure how but it was even worse. I ordered a Bloody Mary that was literally just horseradish it was disgusting. My burger was the most boring burger I've ever had I've had better burgers at McDonald's & don't even get me started on how insanely rude the waitress/bartender was. She was so mad when I asked for another drink rolled her eyes sighed out loud walked away, threw the plates & we could hear her talking badly about us in the back. She barely ever came back to the table. The food again came out ice cold & super late. This place is just a mess & needs to just stay as a spa & blow up the restaurant immediately. read more

We ordered the oysters for our appetizer, and they were very good. The waitress was nice and talked us into getting the venison. If not for her, I probably wouldn't have ordered it, but I wanted to try something new. While I'm not usually the biggest fan of venison, she was right, and I did enjoy it. I think if I were to go back, I probably would stick to the steak or maybe have ordered fish instead though. The chef came out to talk to us and ask us if we enjoyed the venison, which was relatively new on the menu. The dessert was super cool. It had a thin chocolate shell, which melted after the waitress poured the hot caramel over the top. The tart blood orange flavor helped to cut some of the sweetness. It was super tasty and had great presentation, although I wish I took a video or had a before and after photo. read more

The food here is phenomenal whether you stop by for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Over the few days during my last stay at Mirbeau I treated myself to all three. For breakfast, the French toast was delicious! It was bigger than I expected, and I couldn't finish the whole thing, but it was soft and flavorful. When I stopped by for lunch, I got the French onion soup, which was GIANT! Another thing I couldn't finish, but enjoyed every taste. The cheese was gooey and the soup was filled with onions and bread, as it should be. I also got the avocado crab toast. This was even better, and I forced myself to finish every last bite. There was an entire avocado cup up on top of an enormous pile of crab. I could probably eat this everyday, it was so good. Finally dinner. At first I wasn't as excited by my options, but then I saw the spicy crab spaghetti, and I expected it to be good. But it was AMAZING. But, be warned, it definitely has a kick to it. You can't have dinner without dessert. We ordered an ice cream sundae, not expecting much, but I should've known better. The ice cream was under a chocolate shell, that we melted with warm gooey caramel. There was also a brownie (which I will admit was meh) but I didn't even care because the rest was so good. So do yourself a favor and stop by Willow for any meal if your are near by. read more

3 stars? Doesn't make sense to me. People must have stepped on dog poo prior to their arrival or something. Willow is a fantastic restaurant. People are kind, servers are full of smiles. The food is delicious. Yes, the toasted sourdough sandwiches cut up the insides of our mouths but it's expected. It's like diving head on into a piping hot NY slice and getting the roof of your mouth torn apart. The crab toast was excellent. So much crab. So much flavor. Our meal was spectacular. First the setting outside is like something out of a movie set. Lush and green and that night the rain gently fell on the protective awning. So perfect. Then our server Michelle was a delight and helped guide us through the most interesting menu. And her partner Victor took great care of the wine and rest throughout the meal. The chef seems to be inspired by different cultures and preparations from around the world. The raw tuna with avocado and spanish sauce was a great way to begin. And then we opted for the cauliflower and carrots that were farm to table great with a special micro cilantro and a very interesting tihini sauce. But the best was yet to come in the form of an Indian flavored halibut with tumeric that was blackened and delicious and we also shared a more Italian infused spaghetti with shrimp.. All prepared perfectly and not to be outdone but the coffee and donuts which was a magical journey of white and brown chocolates and edible spoons and cups and cream that was incredible. read more

This is an example of a rating the is totally inaccurate to the actual quality of a restaurant. Willow is great, reasonably price, stellar atmosphere, and great food. We had a delicious French onion soup and burrito/heirloom tomato appetizer. Sitting outside on their terrace overlooking peaceful woods. Entrees were a perfectly cooked salmon with buerre blanc and spicy crab pasta. The Brussels Sprouts need to be ordered. I know, they're just Brussels Sprouts, but theirs are exceptional. Trust me!!!! All cooked to perfection. We paired with a bottle of Sancerre. Give Willow a try, don't trust rating if below 4-stars, sit outside, and enjoy! read more

Went here over the weekend for a bachelorette brunch and really enjoyed it. Our waitress was really nice, I accidentally spilled my mimosa and she gave us another! We started with the board, everything was amazing. It came with a couple of things including a waffle, bacon, bagel chips, cream cheese. All were tasty. Admittedly I'm a bit of a food snob...so I'm perplexed why the overall rating is not higher. Every single person was genuine nice and concerned that our meal was good. Both Leighann our waitress and Amber the bartender were friendly, personable, and knowledgeable! The French onion soup was HUGE and spectacular. The carrots and cauliflower with cardamom tahini and cilantro was so unique and delicious. The entrees of blacked halibut and potato crusted salmon were excellent and huge portions. My only minor complaint is that the Walt Pinot Noir was refrigerated and too cold. It did open up but cellar temperature Pinot Noir would have been preferred. Overpriced and overcooked. We went there to try their $24 beef burgers as they were recently rated best in the Hudson Valley. We sat outside on the covered porch, which was nice. The staff was very nice. We ordered medium & medium rare burgers. They both came out well done slathered in mayonnaise with an oddly marinated portobello mushroom & caramelized greasy onions . The truffle fries were cold and greasy. A glass of Barolo was $19 (a small glass, low quality wine). This lunch was a true disappointment for such a good review and fancy place. Visited this establishment June 2022, Sunday brunch with my daughters, ordered charcuterie, oysters and sandwiches. An hour later the charcuterie...I could have done much better myself, oysters made me barfy, sandwiches , well I think I could have done a better job at home. The mimosas were great and I didn't mind all the nonsense because I got to spend the day with my girls! Parking a block away, still want to give it a second chance because I still have a gift card, but I'm apprehensive about the menu and whole pretentiousness. Yes I am a local and I know where the best eateries are in Rhinebeck...Mirabeau/Willow is not one of them! I understand that covid has created a unique situation for every venue but a year and a half later, people here are now eating in robes and slippers and the waitstaff (when you can find one) look more like attendants in a ward. We went back to Willow 15 months later and the food was better then last year ! Maybe because we did meats for dinner instead of fish - I got the burger and my husband got the chicken. I loved all the truffle on my burger and the mushroom/onion combo was good. I also enjoyed the tuna tartare - average but good. It felt VERY safe with covid. I loved sitting outside and would likely do again even post pandemic. Tables very far apart. Wait staff excellent with masks. We got breakfast and I thought that was very good as well (similar to my last experience just overpriced). I got the farro, ricotta cheese, avocado and egg - really interesting combo. We each had salmon burgers for lunch, which come with a nice salad, and the burgers were delicious! big, moist, cooked perfectly. We had a lovely server who was attentive and when I said it's a birthday, she brought ice cream on a decorated plate with a cookie. It was a perfect lunch on the restaurant's porch.
