I wanted to love this place. Had a different vibe to it than other diners. Like they were trying to be upscale. Our server was really nice and attentive. I thought the food was under seasoned. But I am willing to go back and try a different menu option. They did have a great selection of beers, and I saw an apple cider margarita on their specials board that sounded tasty.

This was a great spot for lunch while visiting the area. Kind of a hidden gem since its not too big but easy to spot from the road! Our waitress was running the whole place by herself without issue - many thanks to her! It seems like locals frequent this place as well, and I'm not surprised from its hip but cozy interior combined with the great food. Their pulled pork and beef burger were one of the best I'd ever had. Definitely going back if we visit the area again!

Wifey and I were up here with my sister and law and brother in law and they recommended Truss and Trestle. (Full disclosure- my nephew's girlfriend works here) First off - they have a very nice craft beer selection and a full bar. The owner, Gerard, smokes his meats on site and while I only tasted the pulled pork it was the best pulled pork I've had up here in the area. No lie, it is fantastic and my brother in law a burrito with brisket and he raved about it too. Wifey ordered the pulled pork and black bean quesadilla and I had the BBQ chicken and black bean quesadilla. I also ordered a KCBC Zoctoberfest and Wifey had a KCBC Superhero Sidekick IPA. Our quesadillas were freaking amazing. I mean, it's just a quesadilla, right? WRONG!!! There are lot's of great selections on this menu, but if you come here I 100% recommend these quesadillas! You won't walk away from this meal hungry...I'm a big guy and I was stuffed. For dessert we had some kind of cheesecake concoction that was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I can't say this loud enough...come try Truss and Trestle...you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to come back and try something else on the menu!

While visiting the area for the weekend, this place was recommended as an option by our host. We popped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast and loved the place. We sat at the counter and ordered a Bacon, Egg and Cheese and a breakfast burrito. Both were excellent. The staff was friendly, but service was a tad slow. No biggie as we weren't really in a rush. They have a full bar and my wife had a mimosa, which she loved. We enjoyed our meal so much, we returned the next day and tried the French toast and a Sausage, Egg and cheese. Very good again. Definitely worth coming here if you are in the area and looking for an easy, comfortable meal.

This place rocks. The food was great (diner food but everything is fresh & really well done), outdoor patio is beautiful & shaded, indoor bar is really cool, & our waitress was extremely nice. Came here on our yearly trip to the Catskills, will definitely return.

Is there a menu anywhere? Are there any vegetarian options?

I did find a menu online. I didn’t look that closely but I did see salads and they also gave a breakfast menu with dinner that had eggs and options.

Of course we cleaned up and walked over and were even more thrilled when we arrived to a completely empty dining room with the exception of our wonderful waiter and attentive host. It felt like the perfect, cozy intimate space to the end of an otherwise rainy, somewhat crazy but fun day. We shared a bottle of red on recommendation and had cocktails. The waiter was warm and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The ambiance is cozy and has an elevated feel. Service was exceptional and it was the perfect, memorable evening. Ended dinner with what I recall was a complimentary chocolate truffle. 10/10!

Service…read morewas indeed spotty on the Saturday night we came here and prices- well....they veer into sharp-intake-of-breath territory, but the cocktail and wine list are good in value. We'd just wrapped up seeing a property in the area- so coming here for dinner, fell just in line with timing before heading down home. Butterfield is Hasbrouck House's on-site farm-to-table restaurant located a bit north from New Paltz. While we didn't stay at the hotel, folks can certainly dine here. Don't even think that you'll be seated in an ultra-cheap bar area because their bar is put together elegantly with brushed, brassy-gold touches, navy, grey+cream patterned wallpaper and a comfortable tufted leather(?) sofa against the windows. Those are pretty much the overall touches with lots of tone and a lot of warmth. Music was a great mix of 60s-70s R&B. Yeah.... here. Hubs and I were digging it. Naturally, Butterfield's menu will change regularly according with what's in season and available. Between our 'Small Plates' of mixed Beet salad+ yogurt ($18) and hubs' crispy wonton Tuna Crudo+ yuzu tacos ($22)- they were very tasty and pricy for the small size. Mr. Mixologist packed our cocktails extremely well with an incredible TKO. Our main plates were very good- but again, small for the dollar amount. No one needs to gorge on food- but I wished my palm-size $44 Halibut was a bit bigger. To their defense, it had a tasty rub and done PERFECTLY moist though. Hubs' $54 "dry aged strip loin" was a total of 3 pieces. And my take-out Truffle Risotto had uncooked rice. Again, it's small and expensive at $38 for a main plate Hubs and I eat well and usually, money is no object- if it's within reason. I totally get that fine dining typically means splurging a little for high-quality items or that Butterfield is using 'complex cooking techniques' or that you'll get an original dining experience in these neck of the woods for those who want uniqueness. But there are a ton of restaurants that use the same skill set, quality organic ingredients, root veggies, etc- and they're way more reasonably priced than this location.

I ordered the Bright Idea cocktail, and enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second. My husband had the Warm in the Sun cocktail, which was also delicious. The white sauce was good but not my favorite, next time I'd try smoky buffalo or buffalo. The ranch dressing was amazing and herby! I wonder if they make it in-house. On to the entrees - I got the shrimp and grits. The grits were creamy and so good. The sauce was wonderfully flavorful. The Roost: A Delicious Start to the Day…read more Breakfast at The Roost was exactly the kind of local find I love discovering while traveling. Fresh, homemade cooking, a warm rustic atmosphere, and a menu that gives you plenty of reasons to come back. I ordered the Oyster Po'Boy ($15) and substituted the side for the garden tomato soup. Absolutely delicious. The oysters were fried perfectly: crisp and flavorful without being oily or heavy. Marie knows what she's doing! The sandwich was packed with flavor, and that tomato soup was the perfect accompaniment. We also ordered the Two Eggs with home fries and breakfast greens ($7), along with a side of sautéed greens ($4). Everything tasted fresh, comforting, and thoughtfully prepared. And, of course, breakfast had to be washed down with a delicious, refreshing iced coffee. The Roost's rustic, inviting decor adds to the experience, and I especially enjoyed the artwork displayed throughout the dining area. There's something really special about enjoying good food surrounded by local art. We were fortunate enough to snag a table on the screened porch, which took the experience to another level. It had that relaxed, almost alfresco feeling that made it easy to slow down and enjoy breakfast. The Roost is definitely worth a stop if you're looking for fresh, homemade food in a welcoming setting.
