They did'nt have the gun i wanted in stock but jumped right online and ordered it for me on the spot, i had my gun in seven days. They are very friendly and eager to help any way they can. I've had a couple of very good experiences at this store. The prices on new purchases are extremely fair and competitive. If they don't have something they are more than willing and able to get it for you quickly and very affordable. This is a local gun store where the inside decor is not the primary focus versus an affordable purchasing experience. The staff has been helpful to me and always willing to share their experiences. They certainly are geared towards making repeat customers with how they price their inventory. I will be back. read more

I was looking for a rifle and no one had one in stock, I called a bunch of places and Pete's gun and tackle is the only one who offered to find one for me, not just hang up when they didn't have it. He got it pretty quickly and the pricing was good. They were easy to talk to and answered all of my questions. I have been going there ever since. read more

Pete's Gun & Tackle has been in Hudson for what seems to be forever. Its the log cabin located down the street from Wal-Mart where the road forks. This place is run down, the outside looks like it hasn't been updated in decades. Looks run down, there is probably only a dozen or so parking spots. With the current craziness of firearms this place gets busy fast, with people coming in and out. The inside insist any better, overpriced merchandise covered with layers of dust. Which doesn't seem to have any sort of organisation to it. Layout is weird I don't understand what is going on with the chairs in the middle of the store. The counters are cluttered with junk, paperwork, boxes, random merchandise which just seems to be left unattended. Would it kill them to replace the carpet, the stains on it look older than the building itself. I doubt many people come here for hunting supplies. If your like me your coming here to check on availability on ammo and guns. The prices aren't too bad on ammo, more expensive than Wal-Mart but cheaper than your typical gun range. The selection of handguns isint the greatest and that was back when they had merchandise to sell! If you know anything about the current gun market right now some guns are hard to get. Everytime I come here the old lady is always sitting down with her feet perched up shooting the breeze(you would not think she works there). The regulars who come here and treat the place like their local saloon or personal hangout to talk it up with the owner, rather then help customers he would rather the old lady who doesn't seem to know much about guns or what is currently instock help us out. Assuming your not chummy with the owner. Lame I'm only giving it 2stars because having a extra store to buy ammunition right now is important to me. read more

Some of the negative things said by people are true, most are not. The character of the place is what you see. The people know each other whether the last time they visited was yesterday or last year. Messy yes, but they know EXACTLY what's there. The prices vary, some things I'd order elsewhere and some things are a screaming deal at Pete's. Ammo is cheaper than most. Bottom line? If you want a real gun & tackle store where people socialize with their coffee pick up a few boxes of ammo and look for your nephew's rifle for his birthday. Go there and support your local business. You can get to know people there and maybe create a friend or two. If you want no service, high prices go to walmart. They are the ones who are trying kill local stores, create their monopoly and raise their prices. read more

Pete's (now Mike) are long time pro's. Their knowledge is great and they have always seemed to have the right stuff. One time they even helped me fix my 870 Pump at no charge. Staff is incredibly rude, store is dirty and completely disorganized. I went in to ask about a firearm I've been looking for. The person behind the counter seemed bothered that I was there, sighing before answering my questions and rolling his eyes like a child. I purchased night sights for my MP shield there, best price of any store within 25 miles and install was included. Did a great job on the install and never had to adjust them, witch they would do for free if they where off at all. The place is through back and is a little cluttered and disorganized but i don't care about that, there customer service was great and they have always been far with pricing. read more

Spoke to Dennis who is just a volunteer helper and friend of the owners. I told him I was just looking today and there were a few pistols I wanted to hold and feel. He was very easy going and helpful. He answered all of my questions and let me feel the guns out. He give me all kinds of background and insight on the Sig Sauers I was looking at, and we got into a very engaging firearms conversation. The other staff was amicable as well. Visiting Pete's is like entering the Twilight Zone. This is not a good gun store. It's not a good tackle store. It's not a good business. The store itself is filthy. The employees are unhelpful. I was never acknowledged by three people watching TV in the back. The inventory is disorganized and sparse. Lately, I have had a renewed interest in shooting. I started visiting southern NH gun shops. In the past month, I've been to State Line (in Mason), Collectable Arms, Merrimack Firearms, Bass Pro, Shooters Outpost, and Riley's. Every single store has been good or at least had some redeeming qualities. Not Pete's. This place has no reason to be in business (and I can't believe they still are). Mike and his family are fantastic. They listen to your needs and will help you with what your needs are. They are very experienced and very competitively priced. Personally, I think they have the best prices and I would rather deal with a family business and get that personal TLC. I read the other reviews here and I can see truth in all of them......but I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Yes, Pete's has been there for a long time, and yes it is disorganized, and yes, the locals "hang out" there as though it is a local saloon (not referring to booze as a hang-out place to shoot the bull), chewing the fat sharing hunting / fishing stories. It is laid back, and perhaps a tad disorganized.....but that is also the beauty of the place. You can go in, poke around, fondle the firearms, find some odd things on the shelves that might have been there for decades.....and believe me, that in itself can make the place a saving grace. (finding some old accessory for your old reloader or something similar) Pete's isn't a place you rush into and go through the alphabetized shelf tags to find something.....it isn't even a place that has a website. (OK, they have a website, but it looks to be something like a standard issue from doing a new firearm look-up at a distributor like Davidsons, etc...useful, but with no up to date info on in-stock or used items) But Pete's isn't about speed and efficiency......it is about human to human interaction and support. (no, this isn't the south.....so people there or anyone in New England don't spontaneously chat you up.....but hit them up with a question and I found there people there are happy to chat and answer it) read more

These guys really pissed me off. They come across as arrogant used car sales men. I went in their store to talk about maybe picking up a handgun and another time for doing a trade deal and they were talking down to me and even tried to take advantage of my trade deal well below what it was worth. Great hometown gun shop. The folks here are friendly, knowledgeable and have some cool selections. They also have an informal layaway to boot. Their ammo prices are in line with any of the big box outlets and they always seem to have whatever you need whether it be 22, 9, 45, etc. I highly recommend these folks. read more
