Pete's rebuilt the E4OD transmission of my Ford pickup two years ago. At the time, it had about 160,000 miles and had been well cared-for, but was giving me trouble - not shifting properly, sporadic hard-upshifts, stalling the engine when Reverse was selected. This had been happening off & on for several years. Pete's initial diagnosis was "new pump and torque converter", but went on to recommend a full rebuild. I'm not sure what else that entailed (new solenoids, valve body, seals?) as it wasn't really explained, but I gave them permission to perform the extra work since the transmission would need to be removed in either case. The work was finished later than they anticipated - by several days, actually -but this wasn't a problem for me since I had alternate transportation. I've only driven about 1,500 miles since then, but the transmission has been nearly flawless. All of the forementioned problems were resolved by the full rebuild except for the sporadic hard up-shifts. Since I don't drive the truck very often, I called Pete's when it happened again. They didn't seem that concerned and suggested I bring it back for further diagnosis, without offering a reason what might be causing it. I've since learned that this symptom could be an issue with the PSOM in the dashboard, according to Ford owner websites on the internet. Restarting the engine clears the problem for the time being. Overall, I would give Pete's a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I've found them to be very approachable, have been in business a long time, and most importantly - they do very good work. All I would suggest is that you build-in some extra time in your schedule for them to finish. read more

BEWARE OF PETE'S LINDEN TRANSMISSION! I have a Ford T9 transmission. It was used in the Merkur XR4Ti sold in the United States from 1985 to 1989. This one was in a friend's garage for the past three years. I wanted it checked out, and rebuilt or whatever it needed before using in another car. I have rebuilt these in the past, but my time is limited, and I wanted to get it done quickly. I took this to Pete's Linden Transmission on Route 42 in Sicklerville, NJ 08081. I sourced a rebuild kit from the UK containing gaskets and oil seals. I think I dropped this off the end of May, or early June. I went to pick it up on July 18. Talking to Pete, he said he had been doing transmissions for 30 years. Funny then that the transmission had a problem. As anyone who has ever driven a manual transmission knows, when in neutral, you can move the shifter left and right easily. On my transmission, this caused a loud clanging noise from within. Pete told me this was because there was no oil in it. But there was no oil in it when I dropped it off, and it didn't make that noise. I left it with him. Fast forward to three days ago, August 31. I got a call from Pete saying the transmission was ready a couple of days earlier. This time, the transmission is worse. Only reverse, 1st and 3rd gears can be found. 5th is over there somewhere, but the shifter doesn't move over there. Worse still, 2nd and 4th gears cannot be found at all. I was reluctant to force the shifter, in case I made it worse. Pete had my transmission for 3 months, and now it is worse than ever. Who let's customers take stuff that is incorrectly repaired? Now, I am leery about even letting him take another attempt at it. I have contacted my credit card company about getting a refund. Meanwhile, I am now out a transmission, unless I try and fix it myself, or take it to another transmission shop. read more

Upon recommendation I brought my SRX here. Got it back in time for my two young sons to drive it down to Virginia. About five miles out from their destination the cars tranny took a massive shit! Dead in the water. I really liked that car even though it has it's problems. I took it there too have a problem fixed and instead it's life ended stranding my kids. Had to leave the car there and seen it for scrap. Pete can fucking rot in hell for that. read more

Pete and the guys took care of my transmission and did exactly what I specified, didn't give me any grief on parts I provided either (new 'performance' parts, just to replace weak OEM stuff). I took my Subaru Forrester in at the recommendation of Mavis for a possible issue with the transmission. They checked it over, determined it was only low a quart of transmission fluid, filled it, test drove it and checked for leaks. It is driving like it was before. I was stunned when I was only charged the cost of the transmission fluid. Pete and his team are great and I recommend them highly. read more

This shop is outstanding. I had my car fixed at a place in Philly and it broke twice in 1 year for the same problem and each time it was in 2 months! They wouldn't fix it in warranty so I took it to Linden. He fixed it in 3 days and did it correctly and at a really good price. He discovered that the transmission was an old junk yard one. Terrible. Brought my e250 van in for a speed sensor problem. Vehicle would register 100 mph when i was only doing 40 mph. Pete took care of the problem and when i went to pay the bill i was told there was no charge. I never expected this. EXCELLENT!!!!. After searching on a Sunday for a good transmission repair shop I found Linden Transmissions on the web and none of their reviews were below a 4. Had my car car towed there on Monday at 8:00 fearing the worst as the transmission cooler lines had sprung a leak. The owner Pete called me at 8:30 confirming I needed 2 new transmission cooler lines and that was all. Transmission was not damaged! While there I had them replace a broken motor mount and the car was ready by 5:00 that night. We all know transmission shops are known for steering clients into having the trans rebuilt when all was needed was a simple part but You cannot go wrong taking your car here.
