Didn't have the experience with the problem. It was an electrical issue which I believe was over their head. I paid $300. For a repair that lasted only 10 days. Returned the car, after 2 days they still haven't found out the problem. I got my car back and that's it. Would not recommend this shop. read more

I have been going to Mr Brakes for about 10 yrs now. Paul (The Manager) is one of the most Honest Mechanics I have ever met! Always gives me the price B4 working on my wife, or my car. Explains everything in detail so you know what's wrong, and what they're going to do, and B4 they do any work. The 1st time I went there I even looked up the problem and googled the estimated price and Paul was and still is right there or under with his prices. I went to Mr. Brakes when I was having issues with my brake calipers. The atmosphere is phenomenal, the cute receptionist was young and professional. The owner Paul is a straight shooter. They took my truck in and I waited in the lobby where the receptionist and Paul were extremely friendly and down to earth which made me feel very comfortable and time go by a lot easier. After about 20 minutes Paul took me back into the shop and showed me exactly what was going on with my brakes, calipers, etc.. We then went back into the lobby where he gave me 2 different quotes using two different style brake pads and calipers. He suggested the cheaper of the options and didn't try to push the newer more expensive style setup because he didn't feel I needed it based on my regular driving habits. They only had an hour left until the shop closed, but he ordered the parts, installed them, and stayed a half hour late to make sure that I could take my truck home that day instead of coming back. Again, the time waiting in the lobby did not feel that long because Paul and receptionist were hanging out talking with me, and breaking each other's chops. Overall this place has a very hometown feel for a corporation and the owner isn't out to extract every penny out of your pocket. They do their job well and have a professional yet relaxed, friendly way of doing business. Don't waste your time and money. Various things over the course of using them for auto work. Different lug nut put back on after getting tires. A "new" battery that the sticker was partially torn off so it couldn't be identified. "New" rotors that were not replaced. Tires that weren't rotated. read more

The girls at the desk know their stuff and will do everything possible to get the job done for you as quickly as possible. I've gone here for a simple oil change, brakes, tires and extensive work that requires time and labor. I had an issue that was draining my battery. Paul and another mechanic extensively spent all day researching what the issue was and solved it same day. I cannot day enough good things about this place. As a female it can be intimidating to take my car for work. Never at this place! They explain the issue to you so you understand fully. I drive by here all the time. 10/25/16 was the first time I came here. I needed to get a light bulb change on the front passenger side of my car. I had to come back in November 2016 to get my exhausted pipe fixed along with new brake pads and rotors. The repairs aren't done well. If you want quality repairs done this may be the wrong place. I wanted to continue to use this repair shop due to location but they don't keep me posted on whats going on with my car. Instead they just keep me wondering whats going on and I feel like they don't care if they are holding up my schedule or the things that I have to do. They were not able to properly do my repair after having my car in the shop two different days. They had my car for close to 12 hours for this one repair ( paid nearly 900$ to buy and have a cat converter installed.) It is still making loud vibrating noises. When I asked why they tell me they can not properly fit the part..... not sure what this means because I paid for the part and the repair so I definitely feel a bit cheated. Now the exhaust is still leaking. When I first came to this shop I had an issue with how much I was charged for labor on a couple repairs (break switch, pigtail) I was apologized to afterwards and given a free oil change. I decided I would be kind and try to continue my business with them so I paid a little over 500$ to buy/install new tires which is a fair price and seemed to work out okay. (other than them not being able to fit my cap on my rim) Now it seems even if I spend money here they don't care if the job is done right. I'm getting tired of having my time wasted and I really want quality repairs that are done right. read more

Not thrilled with my first experience, but satisfied with the outcome after the third visit. For the time, cost, and outcome....I could have gone to the dealer and had it done for the same price or cheaper and a piece of mind that genuine OEM parts were used. Also the knowledge of the front desk help was not very good, kind of felt like I was being told things that were not true. Like the job was going to be an hour, and took 3. Also, bring your own drinks because there is no water or soda machine. Big Cheese pizza is a block down if you need a drink while you wait. This franchise shop is nothing more than a money making machine for the lack of quality work and parts you receive. Do not waste your time unless you need something right away and can't get an appointment elsewhere, but be prepared to wait awhile and be over charged and sold on upgrades. I give it a 3 stars only because the brake work was corrected. Overall, not the best, but also not the worst of places to fix a car's brakes. It's like going to McDonald's, you satisfy your hunger with junk food but ask yourself 'why did I just do that to myself' an hour afterwards. read more

Went to Mr Brakes on 4/24/19 because my car a 2004 Saturn with 206000 miles overheated while in D.C prior to this I had bought my car to be fixed because i had a gas leak needed shocks among others things i told them to check for the overheating because the needle moves up when i'm stuck in traffic but never overheated before they told me they didn't see anything so fine I paid for the work that was done at the time. the issue with that was I paid it, but Amanda told me one price over the phone then when I got there it was $82.23 extra I questioned them about it was upset about it they tried to tell me some story about tax but I paid it. however I said I will monitor this because that wasn't the first time that happened paying extra after they give one price I've been going to this shop for years. This brings me back to 4/24/19 I dropped the car off around noon- ish I left the key with them(Amanda) explained what happened in D.C and left the shop so now i call back to get a status on the car about an hr to 2 hrs later got Dina on the phone I asked for Amanda however she wasn't available so I asked Dina what the status on the car she said its not overheating so they are trying to force it to over heat I explained to her that needle only moves higher when im stuck in traffic she said so it's like a stop & go situation i sad yes i guess she said she will let the mechanic know so now I go back home instead of going to wait in the shop for my car, Amanda calls me back very close to 6pm to tell I need a new fan as well 3 other things she quoted a little over $400 & as i was about to ask for to explain the breakdown she told me to hold on then she got back on the phone & said it was 334.72 i said fine i also asked her Amanda if that includes the taxes she said yes i did because of the previous time when they charged me extra . Amanda said the car will be ready the next day which was 4/25/19 i said ok now it 4/25/19 i didn't want to call too early because why rush them i want the job to be done properly so i called in the evening that's when Dina answered the phone again i asked for Amanda because I've been dealing with her for a long time she told me Amanda wasn't available again so I asked Dina whats the status on the car she said to me they are still trying to get the fan to work i said ok so now i wait for them to call me Amanda calls me late in the evening to say the fan is working but they want to keep it over night to make sure everything is good so i said they told me the fan wasn't earlier she said it is working i asked when can I pick up the car Amanda said I can pick up in the morning on 4/26/19 i said ok. It's now 4/26/19 i get no phone call that the car is ready finally i get a phone close to 4pm saying the car is ready & the cost is $549.70 I said what! for what? you (Amanda) told me on 4/24/19 its 344.72 she said she never discussed the price with me over the phone & that price didn't include the fan so now i'm really upset because I said you did she said it must have been Dina then she had the audacity to tell me phone calls are recorded when she asked if i wanted them to replay i should have said yes but I was so disgusted by her lies i was too upset to even deal with her .i never discussed any prices with Dina only status updates so we are going back & forth & its going nowhere so I asked to speak to Paul she said to me that Paul said he's not getting on the phone to argue with me if I want they can remove the parts & I can pick up the car the following day I couldn't believe what I was hearing i've spoken to Paul in the past & never expected that reaction from him. I went up there to pay for my car and off course Dina wasn't there which I figured since Amanda was throwing her name around. I was going to leave this review the very same day that is how upset I was but then I thought about it & waited it so happened that the fan that they put in my car was very noisy on 5/1/19 when I shut off the car then I notice the AC wasn't working as well so I took it back on 5/2/19 to the shop just in case one thing had to do with the other this time I dealt with Dina from the start because I don't like liars once I catch you in a lie & you have the audacity to lie to my face we are done. told the Dina about the fan & the AC she had the mechanic look into it . I also told her to tell Paul I wanted to speak with him she came back & said he's a little busy at the moment but I was under the impression he would eventually come out & speak with me that was my way to see if Paul did say the things Amanda said he said but he never came out to speak to me after Dina went back in to let him know I was still waiting he never came out to hear what I wanted .just remember people I was a customer asking to speak to a manager/owner & this is the customer service I received. On July 17, 2013, I called requesting to speak to Paul (a person that came highly recommended) after getting a quote from Pep Boys of $400. I asked Nicki if my car qualified for the $89.99 brakes and she said no, it would cost $149.00. When I asked how she determined the price on a car that she did not know the make and model she went into some lie about brake types. I then asked if she was a mechanic and she said no, and slammed the phone down on me. I called back she again slammed the phone down on me. We brought our car in for an OIL CHANGE, got a call 4 hours later that we needed the clicker to unlock the car because the alarm system was preventing the car from starting. We get there and it's no longer the alarm system it's one of two sensors that they have to have delivered. It's 4:30 and they close at 6 so we ask if it will be ready before they close, we're told yes and they'll call. At 5:30 my husband calls and they haven't received the sensors so it won't be fixed until the next day. The next day we are now told the computer needs to be reset to recognize our keys and a coil in the engine has gone bad and now although they have the car stared finally it won't drive without a further repair. Obviously I have a reason to be upset, again I brought my working vehicle in for an OIL CHANGE and now it's barely running, took a day to get started, and is sputtering when idle. The only response from the girls up front was that there are things wrong with my car since they just fixed it not too long ago. Not only was that a totally seperate issue that the mechanic even said had nothing to do with the current issues, but if it had been doesn't a reputable company warranty THEIR REPAIRS. This whole situation is shameful and unprofessional. I will never be using their services again. read more

The first time I met Paul at Mr brakes I didn't like him very much. I was getting brakes for a friend's car. The car needed motor mounts and I was against it. He told me it wasn't safe for my friend to drive and he wasn't gonna just do the brakes. I had him do the repairs and said I'm never going back to them. I had no mechanic and needed repair on my car and found myself driving to his business. Now I had a big argument with Paul about my friends car. On the way I was saying I am not going to that place. As I was turning in to Mr brakes I realized this guy was the most honest mechanic I met next to an old boss of mine when I was 17 pumping gas. That was about 4 years ago and is the only place I bring my car for service. They are very fair honest friendly people that do great work and keep my car on the road. I have 165000 miles on my car and it's still going strong knock on wood. If you need a trust worthy place to bring your car this is the place to go. read more
