Delicious but kinda expensive. I've eaten this twice now with both being at different events where they had a booth. This one was at the global grill festival at Northridge park. I went to there event in Reseda with other vendors. I got the brisket sandwich. The brisket was good, had a good char to it and was super tender. Didn't get the Asian flair to it because it wasn't as prominent in the flavor. Not a bad thing though. The bread itself was awful because it just fell apart when eating it. It also tasted a bit grainy just like empty if that makes sense. Even though the brisket was delicious, I don't justify $20 bucks for a sandwich, which was normal size. Pete's Meats SFV made a pop-up appearance at a local brewery this past Saturday. The owner of the business was friendly and cheerful. He was proudly serving his meat specialty and was very excited to be there. At the time, he said he was only serving beef brisket and pulled pork? Anyways, I went with brisket since I originally wanted tri-trip. I chose the sandwich rather than the bowl. Sandwich does come alone so FYI, however, the sandwich was layered thick with lots of brisket meat. Juicy, tender, seasoned well and meat would easily fall apart with each bite. Overall the sandwich was very satisfying and did not leave me feeling heavy afterwards nor drowsy. This dude is super chill and the meats are superior. The brisket burger is MASSIVE and quite tasty. If you're not that hungry the boiled ramen eggs are the ticket. He boils them just right with the slightly runny yolks and the ramen seasoning makes them incredibly delicious. The macaroni salads are also a good side to consider. Pete posts up at the Naughty Pine Pub in Westlake Village on Sundays and it is worth the trip there. Either get some ramen eggs to go or order a burger and grab a beer inside the pub. I gave this place more than one try, but unfortunately my experiences were disappointing. The first time I went, the food was very dry and lacked flavor. The second time, it seemed undercooked. Consistency is a big issue here. I also felt uncomfortable with the cleanliness of the space, as it didn't appear very sanitary. Additionally, my interaction with Pete left me feeling unwelcome. Stumbled upon Pete's Meats on yelp while searching my area for new restaurants. Checked out the website and the pictures looked great but they were professional, no yelp pictures. Decided to take a chance but then realized they were a pop up. Luckily they were at a bar today, so ventured out through traffic. They were setup behind a bar in the tiny parking lot. I could smell the bbq. Decided to go with the brisket plate 1/2 lb. Wife had the pork belly bowl. The owner was a super nice guy and offered me a sample of the brisket. Man was it good! Decided right there to bump it up to a pound. Ordered both the fatty and lean. Great choice by me. The brisket was some of the best brisket I have had! Better than the big names I have been to. Better than Slab, better than Bludsos, better than anything currently in the valley. So good! Lean was so moist and juicy and the fatty was perfect. Had rice and slaw for sides. Slaw was ok and the rice was fine. Wife said the pork belly bowl was good but she ended up eating my brisket. Couldn't blame her, it is that good! So happy to stumble upon Pete's. I've noticed that a lot of people place orders in advance and was wondering why my plate/meal took longer then normal then I realized they had to make 10-15 plates before mine. I'm a pescatarian, I don't even eat meat but I go just for Pete's awesome potato Salad & slaw. and my friends go for the meat and they tell me he's got the best smokes brisket. plus I love a good fusion cuisine and this is a BBQ/Asian Fusion. The quality of food does not excuse the level of disrespect these people have. I showed up at 3 for this pop up and had to drive around the block a couple time to find them. They arrived about 330 which is no problem good bbq is always worth the wait. I had asked them If they took card and waited near by as to not hover over them while they were getting ready. Then what can only be described as their regulars/ family arrived. I stood patiently in front of them as they serviced one couple who arrived after me and not only did they get their food but he feed both of them a half rack of ribs for their wait while I stood there completing and hour long wait time (430 at that point). Then they were about to take a whole other order from another lady who arrived after me untill me wife exclaimed "excuse me where do we order?" In which case we were treated like we were rude ones and should have quietly let all their friends and family order and eat in front of our faces and sat quietly waiting for our scraps. Not one bit of food was offered for our wait. IF YOU DONT ALREADY KNOW THEM THEY WILL TREAT YOU LIKE SHIT. They have enough regulars to worry about don't bother them with any increased buissness.
