    Close-up of the oily gyro
    Evan W.

I've seen a lot of posts about Yasu Guys and really wanted to like it more than I did. But let's start with the good things. The owners have created a clean, brightly lit and comfortable restaurant in a very small, corner spot at an equally small corner center. The ceiling is a bit dilapidated, but everything else feels new and welcoming. The menu is a simple affair: a few Greek style proteins prepared as a gyro, a plate, a bowl or a crunch-wrap. I opted for the traditional mix of Lamb & Beef as a Gyro with tomato, onions, hot peppers and tzatziki sauce. The portion is generous, and comes with a small side of fries (or other choices) for less than $20, which is a good deal these days. While the presentation fell in line with any fast-casual spot, the meat itself was very oily. In the photos you'll see how much oil was seeping from the sandwich (the paper wrapper was soaked). The meat was nicely seasoned, but the flavor was ultimately overpowered by the excessive oil. I'm assuming this is because the meat is being held in a steam table allowing the oils to collect rather than being carved fresh from a vertical spit. The fries were standard issue, but okay for being included. Drinks are only available in cans, no cups or ice. It's possible that other meats from the menu would be less greasy, but I'm not inclined to return to find out.

Yasu Guys was, honestly, the 3rd attempt this day for a Greek/Mediterranean lunch. But sometimes pleasant surprises are waiting for you at THE NEXT SFV strip mall. lol My friend and I immediately felt the welcome hospitality of this cute, friendly, traditional Greek spot when we walked in and received a welcoming 'Yasu!' from the owner. We set to work with the menu, both wanting something on the light side, but protein is always a MUST. Not seeing an "Add a protein" option, we simply asked and were told 5oz of the marinated chicken could be added, but the presentation may not be perfect. Since many people had been requesting this, a solution on the menu would be added soon. We appreciated the attention to detail of presentation, but it's a salad. I figured a piece of grilled chicken would be added to the top and a day called. When our salads arrived, we were again asked how we felt, because he wanted to make sure we were happy with how it looked as well as tasted. Very considerate and we were pleased. It wasn't just a piece of grilled chicken it was about 5oz of slowed, simmered in Greek herbs, chunks of delicious chicken on top of an already delicious traditional Greek salad. Perfect for this hot Valley day! A traditional Greek salad is chopped with greens with red onion, tomato, feta, Persian cucumbers and tossed with olive oil, lemon juice and seasoning. The additional stewed chicken paired nicely and satisfied us completely. As we noshed, gabbed and lingered over lunch, MANY orders were be picked up and many customers were smiling and joining in conversations and laughter. THIS is a great neighborhood eatery. Both my friend and I bookmarked Yasu for a future lunch, but next time it will be the first stop. Cheers! "CC"

Friendly greeting when you arrive. I ordered the beer n lamb gyro and it was a hearty sandwich. It comes with fries but I mistakenly ordered some more. That sandwich is so meaty and good you don't need any extras. A few tables inside but seems more like a to go. It's made fresh so I suggest to call in your order.

This place is absolutely worth the hype, phenomenal from start to finish. We ordered both the chicken Crunchwrap and the beef/lamb Crunchwrap, and each one was incredible in its own way. Perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and packed with that satisfying crunch in every bite. Now let's talk about the garlic parm fries... I'm going to need those every single time. Thick-cut, perfectly crisp, and absolutely drenched in sauce the flavor was insane. Truly next level. You can genuinely feel the love and intention the owner has poured into this business. That kind of passion shows up in the food. I can't wait to see more locations open up. And one small wish for the future, a tostada shawarma bowl on the menu would be a game changer

Having recently went to Greece, the hunt is on for some authentic Greek cuisine in LA I already love the Crunchwrap at Taco Bell (haha) so I was intrigued by their spin on it. But mostly my focus was getting my hands on some gyros and the delicious dessert bougatsa. The beef/lamb gyro was filling and the pita was nice and soft. It was loaded with meat! The tzatziki sauce was very good and had bits of feta in it. The fries were on the side which allowed them to remain crispy. The garlic parm chicken gyro was also good and was juicy. I wish they had the pork gyro like Greece but they said sometimes they will have pork as a special. I really enjoyed the Crunchwrap as well. The tostada inside remained crunchy and loaded with the garlic parm chicken is YUM. Now for the bougatsa, this is a yummy philo dough pastry stuffed with custard and sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon. If you like churros this should be right up your alley. They get the dough shipped from Greece and bake on the spot when ordered. It's definitely worth a try! Yes they are in a tiny strip mall with like two smoke shops and a liquor store but no worries, the food is good!

    Crunchwrap. Not crunchy.

This place was/has been blowing up on the socials, so I dropped by and ordered the Greek crunch wrap supreme. It was mega-ok. I think the strength of this place could be their Greek food and roasted meats, so why push this item that is subpar Mexican carb vehicles? They didn't select a tostada that could withstand the steam bath that is their tortilla pocket, and the flour tortilla is nothing the write home about. It made me feel misled that they even offered this bastardization of a food item to me. They're worth a try, but don't go out of your way, like I did. And please, just stick to the Greek food.

Middle eastern food can be repetitive, so I was excited when I saw this place online and it had positive reviews. I was interested in trying the Beef and Lamb Crunchwrap, but reviews mentioned that it wasn't a lot of food for the price and I was feeling hungry. Instead, I went with the Beef and Lamb rice plate. My rice was drenched in butter to the point where it seeped through the box and I started to feel nauseous while eating. On top of that, the to go box was shallow and barely had any chipotle aioli on top. If you're cool with paying $20+ tax for a middle eastern fusion snack, I would give this place a shot. For me, the portions and price point don't entice me enough to try this place a second time.

This place rules. Yes it's a little pricey but so is all good Greek food. I accept my fate. The guy that works there is very charming and likable. and maybe super handsome but who cares we are here to discuss food. The greecie fries(great name) are bomb as hell with the garlic whatever on it. The Crunchwrap was really good too, I think the banana peppers really add to it. The place is super cute and I love the mirrors on the wall. When you're sitting on the left they frame restaurant and bald guy very well. I'll attach a photo. Overall no complaints it's bomb and I will be back. Simple as that.

First time trying. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall. Walking in, it is still pretty spartan, as they are just getting this location going. The guys working were friendly and helpful. They were also apologetic as they were out of the beef and lamb gyros meat. I ended up getting the chicken gyro crunch wrap. I also got the Garlic Parm loaded fries. My wife got the Classic Chicken Rice Plate. My wrap was good, but they use a tortilla, which was not substantial enough. My wrap was a bit hard to eat as it was falling apart. Probably because everything was very juicy. It was very good from a taste perspective. The fries were also really good. My wife's plate was good, but she would have preferred the beef, rather than the chicken plate. The owner was very gracious and gave us a complementary cheesecake slice. That was really good. Overall, they are just starting this location and are still working out the kinks, but based on the service and what we had this place will do very well.

Found ourselves in North Hollywood after seeing an IG reel about this spot so had to give it a try! We ordered the garlic chicken Crunchwrap - the sauce was delicious. It was a smidge burnt on the outside but the tzatziki sauce balanced out the flavor well. We also got the loaded fries with beef - yummmmm! Big portions so I'll have another meal from the leftovers. Delish!

    Falafel crunch wrap

I feel like a lot of Mediterranean/Greek places neglect their falafel dishes and focus more on making their meat options taste good since those are what most people order, and this place felt like one of them. I was excited to try a Greek crunchwrap, but the one I had had zero flavor. Their falafel definitely needs improvement -- it was dense, dry, and lacked seasoning. The tzatziki sauce they serve on the side helped a little, but it was still pretty disappointing overall. The crunchwrap itself also wasn't very big, so paying $15 felt overpriced for what you get. The only positive thing I can say is that the ingredients did seem fresh.

This fast casual eatery located in Van Nuys off Vanowen Street/Hazeltine Avenue in a small plaza lot with local neighboring business is one you need to try! The Yasu Guys crew are cool, caring and kind serving up a variety of modern Greek street food with nothing but local flare and flavor all seven days of the week from 11am until Midnight. Y.G. is so good, that it makes me miss living a beat away from the area ( I could walk hear in five minutes from my old place). Starting off as an incredible LA Valley pop up and slowly merging into a full on restaurant that's blooming more each day. Yasu guys still offers the pop up experience (check out their Instagram for the latest updates), including catering events. Their menu consists of crunch wraps, gyros, gyro plates, gyro sliders, rice plates, tacos, desserts, salads and sides. Extremely plant-based friendly with out of this world falafel and other offerings without sauces. Loads of vegetarian items including those with feta, aioli, etc. Available for pick up or delivery via UberEats, Postmates, DoorDash, GrubHub, etc, with future options to fully dine in. Some of the third party apps list some of their items with tzatziki as vegan (like the Vegan Falafel Greecie Fries and Falafel Plates), which isn't the case sense they make tzatziki the classic style way (with greek yogurt/dairy). Being vegan, this is an important minor detail to me. I'm hoping they'll add a garlic sauce or tahini in the future for a dairy-free alternative. They do offer mustard and my order of Greecie fries came with them and were extra delicious. I'm very in on Yasu Guys, with those delicious fries, falafel and assorted offerings that spice up your life :D

1/2 of a chicken crunch wrap. Small and tasted like something from the frozen section you get at Ralph's. And that taziki sauce was - meh.

I saw a few positive food blogger reviews of this place on IG so I decided to give it a try. This afternoon for lunch I took my wife and it was an incredible disappointment. It is in a tiny, overcrowded strip mall with zero parking. No spots in the small lot and no easy street parking. We had to park many blocks away. Once there, walking past the grime and flies into the restaurant we were hit with a pungent smell of Pinesol. The cashier was mopping but the smell was so strong - you could taste it. So instead of eating in, we had to ask for the food to go. Ordering: We were told they were out of beef, lamb and falafel! This is a Greek restaurant, right? Aren't those the main ingredients? So we had to go with chicken. So, we ordered 2 chicken crunch wraps, fries and 2 cans of soda... over $55! Wow. Insanely expensive for what we got. The food: Totally mid. Tasted like a frozen quesadilla from Ralphs. Also, not filling.
