The lady and the guy working there were very friendly, nice and welcoming. I picked the chicken and mushrooms fried dumplings for CDN 10.99. The dozen dumplings arrived fairly quickly. The filling was very salty for my taste...There was a dipping sauce and dipping sauce made it even more salty...the texture of the dumplings was nice and spongy...very fresh, but the filling was just too salty for me. There are so many varieties including two vegetarian ones. You can order the dumplings alacarte or as part of a combo. We ordered the cabbage and vermicelli dumplings with hot and sour soup. Added a side dish of the dried tofu salad. Honestly everything was totally on point. I especially really appreciated the handmade dumpling skin which was thick and chewy. The soup dumplings were ok but the meat was over cooked, the wontons with peanut sauce were unbearably spicy and the steamed dumplings were ordinary. The service was horrible. The waitress was running back and forth in the restaurant. I understand it's busy but to actually run creates a very stressful ambience. Everyone got their food relatively quickly but mine took 30-40 minutes more. Everyone was done eating by the time I got my order. I used to really like the Petit Poisson Rose when it was a regular Chinese restaurant. I was a little surprised to see it convert to a dumpling place since the former restaurant had enjoyed quite a bit of success. I went in to try their food yesterday and ordered a serving of pork/coriander xiao long bao to go. The food came after about 10 min, and was nicely packed in a aluminum tray with a little container of sauce (mix of soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil and green onions). The xiao long baos were good, but given that prices are a bit higher than that of Qing Hua, and menu choices are similar, if not a bit more limited, I think Petit Poisson Rose might not be my first choice for dumplings in Montreal. I have to say that the interior is quite nice! It is trendy, with art and neon signs on the walls. We saw women in the entry display making dumplings and were excited to try a new place because dumplings are life. One star off because there was a strange fishy/trash smell at the entrance, but it went away when we went down the stairs. We tried the steamed juicy pork and juicy lamb dumplings. When they meant juicy, they really meant it! Both had a ton of soup inside. We preferred the flavour of the pork, but both were satisfying for the affordable price (dumplings were about $9-12). 3.5/5 Interesting place in downtown near Concordia University. My local friends took me here as they rave about the low prices and large portions of the dumplings. I have dumplings quite often so I definitely expected a lot out of this place. The restaurant ran out of xiao long bao on a Monday night, so I had to go with their regular dumplings. I had their juicy pork and coriander dumplings, which was quite juicy but definitely nowhere near the caliber of xiao long bao. The wrap was also quite thick, which is not how xiao long bao should be if they use the same wrap. Service was as expected for these establishments, don't expect much out of it. I'll consider updating my review once I try their xiao long bao, maybe during my next visit to Montreal. read more

It's a small restaurant; by the window we see the cooks making the dough for the dumplings. It's pretty cool. The inside is pretty ordinary but the cleaner than dumplings joints. They have a pretty simple menu dumplings, soup in dumplings, salads. drinks and deserts. When you order dumplings, you can have it either steamed or fried (extra charge). Dumplings were delicious but missing slightly some flavors. Without the sauces (soy, chili), it would have been very bland. I also ordered the edamame, sadly they were out of it. The xiao long bao were extremely juicy and the skin wasn't too thick. However, the soup inside lacked a bit of salt so you absolutely need to add sauce to add flavor. The dumplings were very tasty and juicy. The crispy skin layer was very thin. The service was quick and you can also look at how they make the dumplings and bao from the outside. The staff was nice. I love this place. The decor is amazing, a very modern approach and it is covered in really cool art. I immediately wanted to have a birthday or celebratory dinner there. Really great selection of dumplings, I always go one of the Xiaolongbao varieties (soup dumpings.) I will give their non-soup dumplings a try when I'm in a larger group, the prices on them are really good. The tofu strip salad blew me away, I haven't really dabbled in anything quite like it before and it was so flavourful with a little bit of heat. Big menu, big tables with lots of space, great for lunch of dinner. Lots of competitors in the area but this place might have an edge. read more

That's not how it should be made ... what a joke Pork flavour one was disgusting literally. I throw them in the garbage! The shrimp one was acceptable taste. My chinese in-law family makes way better food than that in small home kitchen while they have a professional kitchen and can't even made something decent.... It looked very nice, but what shocked me the most it's that it was almost tastless. I couldn't taste the mixture bun, porc and shimp complementing each other. It was just, blend.. Second order was a pork dumpling, my personaly favorite kind of dumpling. Yet another dissapointment. The meat inside felt extremly tough. It felt more like the meat ball you eat at hotpot. My friend and I were here for lunch. We had one xiao long bao and one dumpling. Service was a bit slow and we didn't get water half way though the meal. My friend has never tried dumplings before. She liked both dishes. We had lamb with coriander xiao long bao and pork with leek dumpling. The coriander was strong. The leek was not strong. I would avoid chicken dumplings which was the first item of the dumplings section. For me, chicken was normally used in wonton. The ambiance was really nice. Like a traditional Hong-Kong style.
