I discovered a tick on my dog late on a Sunday and this was the only store open for pets. The worker seemed friendly enough and asked if I needed help. I asked to point me in the right direction and he recommended an item behind the countrr that I proceeded to buy without much inspection. Guess I shouldn't have assumed he knew anything about meds because he sold me flea meds. Don't Shop Adopt. These Puppies come from Puppy Mills. They are sick Puppy's. They are transferred from poor conditions where they are cramped in small cages that are not cleaned regularly. Lack of very little food and water and vet Care. When the Puppies arrive at pet land they don't arrive during the day they arrive during the night when Petland is closed because they don't want customers to see them. Because if the night workers see the puppies and some of them are really sick they will not take them they will make sure they go back with the transporters. It's the truth look it up. DISGUSTING conditions for their animals. They had puppies soaked in their own urine, dead fish in algae overgrown tanks, and a bearded dragon that appeared to be dead on display! They refused to give him over to me at first and said they had the means to help him (which they clearly weren't helping him at all) and then eventually agreed, saying that their "vet" said that he probably wouldn't live. Even after all of that, they kept the animal for sale on the floor and even left him out until I could pick him up several hours later. I've rehabilitated quite a few reptiles and I've NEVER seen one this bad. I worked tirelessly to help him and he ended up dying after 12 hours. PLEASE don't support this store. Incredibly disappointed in this Petland. Some of the fish were dead and floating in water so algae filled you couldn't see through it, there was a dog literally so covered in urine that his paws and stomach were a bright yellow, the dwarf hamster enclosure is only about 2 feet tall to encourage children to touch and grab them and is entirely unsupervised. The worst offense of the whole store though, is a bearded dragon that was left to die in its enclosure on display, and still up for sale. This dragon was so emaciated that upon inspection, my friend and I assumed him dead and mummified. Once we received him, he died around 12hrs later. I'm just absolutely horrified by their complete neglect of the animals in their care. read more

My mom just got a sweet little man Balboa (dachshund) last Tuesday May 18th 2021 FROM PETLAND in FLORENCE KENTUCKY! He was 10 weeks old. My mother didn't have him for not even 24 hours and that night he started to get sick. She rushed him to the vet and he immediately was diagnosed with PARVO. I went to pet land myself the next day and Pet land did not take protocol to even clean / sanitized the the store ... there was still feces in the same cubicle balboa was in and they also have multiple puppies in one tiny cubicle... Since last week his health declined. Poor little baby PASSED away today. This entire time we have not heard NOTHING from Pet-land. No courtesy call ... NOTHING. Manager avoids talking with us .... So my mother and I just made a trip up STILL obviously no cleaning. There was a employee there named Tylan who just laughed at my mother and I for being emotional about what just happened. I tried to purchase from a reputable breeder. I looked and looked at the Rescues for a younger Tzu. As I have been thru pure hell with my precious other 2 Tzu boys being sick...I thought this was the answer. NO!!!!! My Tzu baby is only 3 months old. I took her for her complimentary Vet visit. She has an inner Ear infection. An Upper Respiratory infection!! NO one should have to bring home a lil one and watch them suffer like this! I just had to put my sweet 10 year old Tzu Boy to rest Sept 24th! I told them of all the heartache we went thru! All the medicine. Watching him struggle and losing him. I supposedly bought him from a reputable breeder. Our 1st Tzu was a rescue. He soon was sick too. You can see why I tried this next option. Petland Florence, Ky told me a Vet came each week to check these babies out! NO WAY!!!! As soon as I got her home I cleaned her ears. They were filthy!! I cleaned them 2 more times...still filthy!! We paid a total of $2600!! She shouldn't be sick!!! SUFFERING! We shouldn't have to go thru this either!!! She's now on Antibiotics and Ear Medicine. I had to drive 40 minutes each way. I have to go back in ONE week to recheck her and to put more meds in her ear. I had a very hard time making it that far this one time. I have my Vet literally 2 minutes away. They need to pay for me taking her there. THIS IS ALL THEIR FAULT!!!! SHE LEFT THERE SICK!!! I will NEVER EVER go there again and I will tell everyone I know to stay far away! No. Just no. I rescued a dog here last year, she was visibly sick and the employees knew of it. I got her and took her to the vet immediately and they were shocked at her condition. Couldn't walk straight, cough, lethargic as can be. She ended up having pneumonia and spent two nights at the emergency vet!!! She could have died.. I went in to inform them about what happened and I was just handed a card as if this was normal. I'm sure more than half those pups are sick. Not to mention i've gotten two hamsters that both died within three days. The only reason i'm writing this now is because I had no idea this place was still in business! I have thinking of getting a puppy. I actually was at Petland to look for a couple of new fish for my aquarium, though. When I walked in & saw the puppies I melted. When I asked the breed of one of the puppies I was ignored. I commented on a Yorkie puppy, I was ignored. I asked the cost of the Yorkie and I finally received the replie "They're $2,000 - $6,000" in a tone as if I had annoyed her which left me feeling as if she assumed I couldn't afford a puppy. In my opinion, yes the puppies are over priced. Treating a customer like they can't afford what your selling and to rudely ignore questions makes me wander how they're still in business. When I tried to purchase fish the girl at the register yelled across the store at Ms. Rude who obviously was not happy about having to assist me with my fish purchase. The fish seemed STARVED when I got them home. I can only hope the pets receive adequate care. I had to leave 1 Star to be able to post. read more

Not good at all. I recently purchased and bunny who became sick nine days after, two days after their "return/refund policy", the florence location said they would not do anything unless we took her to the vet and that we would then be refunded or assisted in some way. After a 250$ vet bill we were turned away and left with a sick bunny with hypo gastric motility disease with no help or refund from the store. Asked an employee if we could see a dog. They said "it'll be a minute", despite multiple stalls being open. Then they proceeded to watch my family look at this dog through the window for over an hour, looking away any time they made eye contact and not once approaching us about seeing the dog. They kept letting other people look at dogs, and one person working there said they may be taking appointments only, but that was never mentioned to us, just that it would take a little while. Do not get any animal from them go elsewhere. I adopted a puppy took her to their vet who she was supposed to have seen once a week and was diagnosed with giardia and then a week after she was diagnosed with parvo. No other dogs that she has been around have eather diagnosis they where my familys dogs so she didn't get it from us. When I talked to them about the bill they are only paying about $200 of over a $700 bill because they stated that they do not pay for hospitalization like we had a choice if we took her home that day there was a 90% chance she would have died. read more

If I could put zero star I would when I say this place was horrendous I'm not lying, the staff had a attitude when we asked for puppies ,they had big dogs in small cages and multiple big dogs in small cages at a time too .the cages were absolutely disgusting the cages were covered in poop and pee some of the dogs even had poop matted into hair ,some of the dogs looked sick one had a horrible underbite and was very skinny,they didn't even have proper water for the dogs they had water bottles for small animals like hamsters in the cages , me and my family got out two retrievers and they had poop all over them and were fighting, many of the dogs were fighting and they didn't even do anything when we told them about it ,I would've taken picture but it was extremely sad ,I wanted to get the puppies out so they had room to play ,there were five puppies in the same cage all had poop matted in there hair , the prices are outrages for puppies that are sick and have problems, I wouldn't advise buying here . read more

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would, they treat the customer with total disrespect. They were extremely rude and acted like we were clueless idiots. My main complaint is a worker named Cory, he acted as if I knew nothing and continued to question me and act as if I am stupid. I really do not appreciate the way they handled a situation when we were trying to adopt a hamster. I was just there for a friend and have a hamster of my own at home and he was questioning me about what cage I kept it in and what food I have for it, etc. I understand that they are concerned for the animal but they had absolutely no right to be questioning me about my hamster. First off, I did not purchase the animal from your store. Second off, the disrespect I felt was unbelievable. Thirdly, there were many hamsters in the cage that were covered in scabs, growths, and blood. I do not want to be receiving hate about my hamster while you cannot even care for your own. Overall, this experience was awful. I will not be coming back again and I will be helping my friend purchase a hamster from a place with much better customer service and respect. read more
