After two years as a satisfied customer, I experienced something that has left me gobsmacked and saddened. My dog spent five nights at Petopia with strict instructions that the cone she was wearing could not come off for any reason due to her severe allergies and scratching. This place is hit or miss when it comes to super friendly staff, and almost lecturing personnel. Plus the infrastructure looks weathered. We've spent 4 figures here for extended boarding and doggy daycare over 17 months so I feel like a review is necessary. Booking online is straightforward, even for same morning reservations. You get a confirmation email during business hours. For the most part, we are satisfied, but their service and facility doesn't warrant 5 stars. When we picked up our dog during one of the boardings, she had a cut on her eye that they never made us aware of at the time it happened, so we had to hurriedly go straight to vet to get her checked out. We also have to ask about how her day went, or else it's just pick-up and pay. Daycare rates are pretty affordable, but they've recently raised their prices . $25 for half day and $30 for full day. We are comfortable here but not averse being open to other options. read more

I frequently board my dog here, and each experience has been consistently good. They give me a thorough update on how he's doing any time I call for a check up. He also seems very happy and well nourished every time I pick him up. They also offer in person tours that are set at certain times of the day, and the facility seems clean and well kept. The only reason why I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because of the cost, and the fact that they don't provide picture updates like other boarding facilities. read more

I have been boarding my senior citizen Silky Terrier at Petopia Pet Resort after not having good results at a VCA boarding facility. I have been very happy with the staff that takes care of my little one. They listen to the needs I have for my dog and follow through. I feel that my dog gets more personalized attention at this smaller facility than at a larger boarding place. When I call to check on her, staff will check and give me a report, not just say that she's fine. Several times when I'm checking in, I see people with their pets (looks like they are waiting for their play day) and there is so much excitement. That tells me something. I have to say this place definitely deserves all five stars . They are always very friendly and when my dog and I arrive he is just super happy and ready to jump out and play ! The staff always greets Max like he's their own and that's what I was looking for . I was very nervous leaving him the first time and probably called every hour too check up on him during a half day stay . The staff is never rude and everything is very easy from making the reservations, drop off and picking up ! I highly recommend this place! We got a new roof on our house last week. Needed to take our dogs someplace to keep them from stressing out. Our dogs haven't had exposure to other dogs before and don't take kindly to other dogs during walks, so I was thinking of boarding them. Over the phone, Hayley at Petopia recommended that I bring them in for an evaluation for day care to see how they would do. The pups passed the eval. I ended up taking the dogs in for day care six days while the house was getting roofed. They looked forward to the ride there and couldn't wait to go inside to their day care each time! I was nervous leavingmy babies here for a few days. Scott was wonderful! He was reasurring. The staff are very organized at this facility, unlike our last boarding place. I would call and email to check on them everyday. When we picked up our babies, they were clean and had no issues. No exit bath, they were clean! I love how the doggy rooms have access to a private dog patio where they can do their business. The facility was nice and clean during our tour prior to boarding. Scott, you are the best! If I could give one star I would!! I dropped off my dog for doggy day camp and when I went to pick her up they didn't tell me about the blood or fur missing on my dog until after I had paid! My husband and I don't abuse our dog. I asked to see the cameras and the incompetent, rude, and neglectful owner told me that there were none. He didn't even offer to refund me my money I had to call my bank and dispute it. Don't let your dogs come here for doggy day camp as they are clearly running some kind of dog fight/they don't know what the hell they're doing. I didn't even get so much as an I'm sorry or a call. I only found out about my poor dog when I picked her up. Will not be coming back and I will tell everyone I know to not leave their dogs here! You guys suck! read more

Last minute our dog sitter fell through and we needed a place for our girl so we could go on our anniversary weekend. I've never kenneled my dog before and had the WORST anxiety about it. After touring another place and wanting to cry I decided to try Petopia. From the first call Carol was willing to answer all my questions, she was so kind and instantly put me at ease! When we arrived my Lola girl was SO excited to play on the yard she barley noticed we left . The rooms were spacious and looked like somewhere i could sleep for the night (and i refuse to leave my dog somewhere I wouldn't go). We been boarding our pets at Petopia for over 30 years and have never had a problem. Our pets don't hesitate to go to the back with the attendant when arriving. They seem comfortable and "say" goodbye to all staff when they're picked up. They have never acted nervous or afraid when dropping off or being picked up. When our older dog got sick it was noticed immediately and was handled with appropriate action and loving-kindness exactly as it should have been. So grateful for their thoughtfulness. read more

My dog has boarded there on multiple occasions. I find the rates are reasonable when compared to other facilities that offer the same services in the OC. During my dog's most recent stay, which lasted over 20 days, I left her at the facility after she had an episode with pancreatitis. I left her with needed meds and food to recover, but it was a very difficult decision. I was able to email the facility for updates and was relieved to come back to find her having a better appetite than when I left. I can always tell that my dog seems relieved that she's back home but I can also tell that she was well cared for while staying at the facility. read more

They were accommodating from the time that I called to get information to the day that I picked up my dogs. I had lots of questions and they were very patient and professional to put my mind at ease. We 100% recommend this facility for dog boarding. We went to Disneyland for a week and were so happy our dog was able to play throughout the day and have a private suite with a patio where he could walk around and go potty when left unattended. The staff we interacted with were extremely kind and listened to all our "tips" we left to care for our anxious Lab. The only drawback was I wish there was a daily update or photos/video to check in on him. We had been boarding for years. Not sure if management has changed but we just picked up our dog from a week boarding. He came home with a hotspot and fleas. He has never had fleas in his life he's an indoor dog and doesn't interact with other dogs. At Petopia we paid extra for him to have individual human play. So either they don't properly clean the rooms or the play area. I spoke to someone at petopia. Their response was "I'm sorry Fozzy has a flea but this conversation is going in circles. These things happen all the time.. blah blah blah" So devastated and so disappointed. Never going to board my dog there again. Wasn't offered a bath or money for flea medication and Eric was indifferent and not very helpful. read more

What an amazing place! My wife and I travel a lot and need to board our 2 little chihuahuas regularly. After quite some research we found Petopia, and we couldn't be happier. The minute we did the tour, we were impressed with the staff and facilities. They seem to really care for the animals they are housing, knew all their names, had some kind words for them when passing. Now, when we drive up to Petopia, it seems the dogs are already getting excited, can't wait to get out of the car and into the building. The receptionists have always been extremely friendly and warm, and the kennel attendants usually play with the dogs in the reception area before taking them to their home away from home. While we are traveling, we usually receive updates and pictures and see that our little rascals are enjoying their stay. When we pick them up, it seems hard for them to say Goodbye to the staff. We really don't understand where the negative comments come from but our experiences for several years have been nothing but amazing!!! Keep up the wonderful work. I boarded my cats here for a week while I went on vacation. Both of my cats are under 6 months, so to cut the cost of boarding, I had them housed together. When I came in to drop them off, I was allowed to look at the cat room. It's cute and cozy, has a big window with a street view and has about 12 cages or so. They're the two tired cages so they have ample room. The resort offers play time for your cats (at an extra cost), but from what I gather, the cats get attention no matter what. I was asked to bring my own food which makes sense as that's what my cats are used to, and I wouldn't want to upset their tummies. I also brought along a few toys just in case they didn't carry any. They updated their Facebook page with pictures of my babies and I was so happy to see them! I was told they did really well. Once I came to pick them up, they seemed like they had a relaxing time! My two dogs seems to love this place and I adore how much individual care they seem to give them. When I walk in, they usually know exactly who I'm there to pick up without me having to remind them. They know my pet's little quirks and habits, which tells me that my dogs aren't just another dog there, that they are being treated well. I just wish they'd update their Facebook with their current overnight pups more often. :D Any time I'm outta town, I check their page daily, hopeful for updates.
