Sewage backed up into my bathtub and a pipe had to be repaired. I did not know of a plumber and so I just googled for one. I saw good reviews and called them. Excellent service. It took 2 days because of all the work. William, Luis and Jessy were awesome. Very professional, polite, did not make or leave a mess. They clearly communicated every step that needed to be done, took pictures, videos to show the damage. They were prompt, I received text messages with photos of each plumber so I would know who was coming, alerts as they were on the way and when they arrived. There were no surprises. As for cost, again, I have nothing to compare it to, but for all the work and hours, it seems reasonable. I was very happy with the service. I'd highly recommend this company. read more

In summer 2024, I hired Petri Plumbing & Heating to replace the water source heat pump in my NYC condo for $5,691. The new Ice Air unit requires a manufacturer-specified water flow rate of 3.25 GPM. The existing balancing valve connected to it -- manufactured in 2008 and 16 years old at the time -- was rated at only 2.0 GPM, which is 38.5% below what the manufacturer requires. This mismatch was never disclosed to me at any point during or after installation. The company later confirmed in writing that they had identified the valve and decided it was acceptable, but they never communicated this assessment or the associated risk to me as the owner. Within four months of installation, the unit began breaking down. It failed six documented times over the following 17 months, repeatedly leaving my tenant without heat during winter. I paid out of pocket for multiple diagnostic visits across different contractors trying to identify the root cause. I only learned of the GPM mismatch in 2026 -- from my building's property manager, not from Petri. When I raised the issue, the company declined to acknowledge any oversight and quoted $2,892 to correct it -- work made necessary by a deficiency that was never disclosed at installation. After a negative experience with a plumber they sent, I complained, and Petri (Chris specifically) did everything to remedy the situation and give me what I needed. The second team he sent was skilled, professional, polite, and exceeded expectations. An unfortunate thing was that they had to correct the work of a previous plumber, so it ended up costing more than I would have liked, but licensed plumbers are never cheap. Don't trust this company. Don't trust them !!! My hvac had some issues they charged me 3,000$ and said I had warranty 1 day later hvac broke again had to wait for them a week for them to comeback. When they Came back to check why it's not working again he gave me new estimate saying something else broken and we need to charge u 3800$ I Told them i would call back and started searching for family friends to help and found a new person with a different company he came and after checking for 2 min he came back told me the issue is a transformer it cost 70$ and he can charge me 50$ to install total 120$ and gave the new guy 200$ tip for being honest. So please if u want to get robbed ripped off then u can keep dealing with petri company if u want to save money and get a better job done by trust worthy people instead of jail crooks don't call them. I had no heat in my coop for 2 weeks. I called Petri yesterday and to my surprise George a heating specialist, arrived on a Sunday. He explained the problem and solution. gave me an estimate, and returned today with Michael his assistant. Both of them worked hard to make sure that heat was returned with 4 new valves. Just had a great experience with Petri. Same day service that was a lot more complicated than initially thought. A clogged sink in the bathroom that couldn't get unclogged. Fazion from Petri exhausted every possible solution and figured it out. We had two connecting sinks that were misaligned and made it difficult to snake. From beginning to end the service was fantastic. I received a high water bill and was told by the water company to hire a licensed plumber to find the source of the leak and I could hopefully be reimbursed for the money I had to put out. I left a message with Petri plumbing and was called back quickly. I was given an appt right away when I explained my situation. Two wonderful technicians came out and I was texted a picture and a little summary of both technicians before they arrived. The technicians came out and was courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. They found the leak right away and shut the water down to prevent more leaks. Once I made the appt. for a new toilet they send me an invoice right away which I could use to send to the water company to prove I had a leak. I was given an appt. the following day to install a new toilet. The next two technicians were also wonderful and they did a beautiful job installing my toilet. I contacted Petri Plumbing to repair a leaking bathroom faucet and explained that the hot water handle needed a new cartridge. I already had the replacement cartridge from the manufacturer and only needed it installed. I was informed there would be an $89 fee for a plumber to come out and provide a quote, which would be waived if I accepted the service. Although I asked for a rough estimate over the phone, none was provided. The plumber arrived, consulted with a manager, and quoted $519.82 to remove the old cartridge and install the new one. Considering the straightforwardness of the task, I was shocked by the quote. When I questioned the cost, I was told I was paying for the company's "expertise." Continuing to give Petri 5 stars because their service is always top-notch, and our latest job was no exception. We had a bathroom sink whose drain assembly was patched together by the original contractor and required occasional water clean up from leaks. We recently cleared out the vanity to clean and noticed black mold throughout so we ripped it out. Petri came in and rebuilt an assembly in what turned out to be a really complicated job due to reasons beyond their control. The technician, Faizon, was thorough, patient, communicative, and went the extra mile in both workshopping solutions and then performing the work itself. As a wannabe DIY guy myself, I found myself both admiring the beauty of the finished job and feeling jealousy that I would never be able to do that kind of work myself. In short, he built a customized drain assembly that fits within tight confines of our vanity while also looking like it could survive a direct hit from a scud missile. Great job, Faizon. Worth noting that Petri is not cheap. If you are looking for bargain prices, look elsewhere. But if you're willing to invest in your home, what you get with Petri is basically leak insurance, and the assurance you won't be needing the job redone for many, many years. read more

Highly recommended- our hot water heater died and we called Petri on a Sunday night once we discovered our water heater was leaking water all over our cellar floor and we actually spoke to a person rather than other plumbing places following prompts and leaving messages and hoping for a call back - they provided a timely response - we had our water heater installed by a great team of fellows headed by Fred who explained everything that was being done and what the costs were clearly and concisely so there were no misunderstandings. They were fast and efficient - I thought we'd have to go a few days without hot water but had a new heater installed and running by noon on Monday. Be careful of these guys. They try to sell you over priced services. I invited them over for an annual check up of the heating system. Got this long lecture about what all needed to be done. Just the first batch of services was going to cost me $1,000. The description sounded fishy so I got a second opinion. There was a kernel of truth In Petri Plumbings description but it was vastly exaggerate. I ended up paying $50 for repairs. read more

In addition to everything written below, when we finally got a different company to come fix the heat, they said a) there was nothing wrong with the computer board and the worker had simply failed to properly put the door back on causing the safety system to shut the heat down b) that charging $1500 for an igniter is an outrageous price, way beyond what it should cost, making them think the entire thing was a scam On the first day without heat the guy showed up and said, "I know how to fix it but I'm not going to explain what's wrong." It was only under pressure from my landlord and me that he explained the igniter and computer board were both broken. He promised an estimate that night and an answer by 8 am the next morning about when parts would be available. The estimate didn't arrive till mid-morning and was only for the igniter and we didn't get the answer about parts till the afternoon. Worse, their policy was that my owner had to be there when they do the work (what if he lived in Californa?) and they'd only speak to him. He told them numerous times he was deputizing me and asked them to speak to me directly but they kept miscommunicating about it internally and making him call in again. They didn't get the parts on that Friday (or maybe they lied and were just too busy to be bothered to come out-- they were extremely vague) On Monday the technician who was supposed to come was replaced by a different guy last minute. He only had the igniter and said they couldn't find a computer board. The heat worked for a few hours and then shut off that night. On Tuesday they wouldn't talk to me when I called about the problem-- even just to communicate what was going on with the search for a computer board. There's no reason not to do that no matter what your basic policy is. Then they told the apartment owner that even though they don't have the computer board (and therefore cannot fix the problem) they wanted to come back out this morning to look at the system and that he'd need to be on call and ready to be there when they arrived. We are moving on, hopefully finding people who are better communicators and able to get the work done. FOLLOWUP I'm writing another review because I cannot respond to the owner's comment otherwise. He tried to justify everything by saying we do not communicate with tenants on "sensitive issues" just with the landlords. 1. That doesn't explain the "I can fix it but I won't explain it" comment. 2. It doesn't explain why they couldn't talk to me about making the appointments. That's not a sensitive issue. 3. It doesn't explain why they could not give me an update today on the status of finding a computer board. That's not a sensitive issue either... and my landlord explicitly gave them instructions FOUR TIMES to talk to me directly. I have no heat and they do not communicate well or respond quickly to problems and justify it with this BS policy. read more

I had another plumber in the day before that told me my boiler was cracked and I needed a new one- I thought that sounded weird. that it froze then thawed and cracked as he said- it was never even on so how could it have froze then thawed? I decided to call Petri- rumors were Petri was expensive but really good, but I figured they were my best shot over a new boiler. My dispatch fee to just have them come out the next day was $225 - it was not an emergency same day request. When they got there (on time) they said they could definitely get the boiler working and it wasn't cracked at all . The "diagnostic" to tell me what was wrong was just shy of $300. So before anything was done to start any repairs, "I paid $525" then add the cost of the repair( I needed another new PRV and the radiators bled), this was not cheap at all. They did get my boiler up and running same day and they were there for hours working to make sure everything was working as it should before they left (no, it wasn't cracked) And they gave me a lot of really knowledgeable advice about maintenance of my boiler . Yes, I'd definitely use Petri again and recommend them for a major job that may be complex. But likely not for a simple repair or an uncomplicated leak given their prices. Their technicians were on time, polite, and very professional , and explained everything they were doing and why - Isaiah & Owen were awesome 5 star technicians. read more

The company is professional and responsive -- which, as New Yorkers know, isn't always the case in this industry -- and the people who come to my home are always knowledgeable and considerate.
