They have helped me with many issues from diagnosing leaks, simple repairs, complicated on demand boiler issues, venting issues etc. etc. They almost always get it right the first time and if they don't they wont disappear on you. Not recommended. I called them to replace a piece in my shower. They replaced the piece while forgetting to add a necessary metal piece, resulting in the shower breaking down two months later. I had to call in another plumber and order another new part. As a result of their negligence I had to pay double. Avoid this company. read more

Victor and Leo (excellent plumbers from B&D Heating) were able to fix my clogged kitchen pipe quickly and explained the problem clearly. They were here early this morning and fixed the issues in no time. Victor and Leo were very polite and explained everything clearly. They also made sure to clean up and removed any debris. The new p-trap was installed perfectly, as well as snaking the pipe, and I haven't had any problems since! I was recommended to this company by others in my building -- please take your business elsewhere if you care about not freezing in your home, or not being ripped off. B + D were the most unprofessional company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. Their technician who visited our apartment was friendly and seemed knowledgable, but everything after that was a disgrace. They couldn't fix or diagnose our issue, and worse, they seemed to have no interest in actually doing so. They told me they would call me 8 times over the course of 3.5 weeks, I never got a call, I had to follow up every time with them -- reminding them that we had no heat or hot water. They lied to me about a part being hard to find (I ordered it from the company that they told me were out of stock within 5 minutes of hanging up the phone. They told me they would get me an estimate for additional work for our boiler room, they never sent it (they said the estimate would take two days). They charged me more than $200 over what the cost of another part is available for online, on top of another $850 bill - again, they fixed nothing in our apartment. I called another (cheaper) company, who was not trying to rip me off like these con artists. Go elsewhere! read more

I don't leave reviews. Ever. But I'm leaving one now because Josh and B&D Heating saved my life. My basement flooded in the aftermath of Ida in fall 2021 and I had my boiler replaced with a heat exchanger by another company. The heat exchanger never worked properly, despite literally dozens of visits by many different plumbers over the course of 9 months. Josh fixed it in a day by discovering a tiny but catastrophic mistake in the original installation that no one had been able to identify. That was last year. Over the weekend an improperly insulated pipe burst in my laundry room, and he fixed it in an hour and gave advice on preventing it in the future. These guys are pros: they explain what's happening, they fix it quickly and efficiently, their craftsmanship (cuts / welds/ precision/ neatness) is top notch, and they clean up after themselves. From Bill the owner, to Greycha who has since moved on, to Alex, Linda, Maria, and all the guys who have crouched in my teeny tiny boiler room to figure out what is wrong with the heat, the water flow, the water temperature, the thermostat, the burner, the toilet, the kitchen faucet, the bathtub faucet, leaks...the list goes on. Each time they've made an effort to get out as soon as possible, and even the few and far between times there was a discrepancy in charges, the owner Bill was fair. soo.. I once spoke with a real estate lawyer and his advice to me was....stay as far away as possible from plumbers. Always call a handyman first to see if they can do the job, because they will be more honest and cost less.... 1500$ later - i should have listened. I called B & D plumbing to have our boiler winterised - nothing was really wrong..just wanted to be prepared for the winter....They came, they charged - then i all of the sudden had an error message on the read out - they came, they charged, then i had yet another error message on the read out...they came, they charged....this was over the span of 8 weeks. Not cheap, but reliable and willing to help when things go wrong (which is always on a weekend or a Saturday night). These guys are professional plumbers. Premium price, but quality work. Get what you pay for. The business office is rough around the edges. Phone manner is brusque. Key information about the job communicated over the phone consistently does not get relayed to the plumber showing up for the job. For example, the truck often does not have the necessary parts, requiring the guys to burn precious time rooting around the truck and improvising. However, the plumber and his apprentice who do show up are respectful, diligent workers, competent at their trade. For that reason above all others I'd use B&D again. read more

The rudest customer service ever!! Also they have a 4 hour window and absolute unwillingness to work out the scheduling with you!! When i told them that its impossible for someone to be taking the day off and to hang around the house and wait for them, the person on the phone basically said that thats our problem and we will need to figure it out. When i asked if there's possibility if they can come after 3pm, she said they work until 4!! Who in this kind of business works only until 4!!!??? B & D Plumbing and Heating have been servicing our brownstone for over 12 years and have never let us down!!! Recently, our heat system stopped working and Julio and Anthony went the extra mile to make sure that our Nest system was working and our house was warm before they left. Yesterday, we stopped having hot water. I called them at 8am in the morning and they arrived before noon, assessed the problem and were able to change out the old hot water tank and replace it in no time. I'd had a broken boiler for two weeks and my landlord was non-responsive and I was ready to burn my house to the ground just to finally be warm again. I made an appointment w/ B&D because I have a Navien boiler (and most places in Brooklyn don't deal with those). I called on a Monday and made the earliest appointment--Thursday--but then Tuesday morning they called and said their schedule had changed and they could be there soon. (Amazing!) The guys were super knowledgable, friendly, and non-intimidating, and seemed pretty affordable given how much work they did. I'm a total layman but I was beyond happy with their service. read more

These guys charge $225 /hr. I called them up to work on 2 projects on 2 separate boilers at the same location to save $$. They wouldn't touch one boiler. Spend total of 15 minutes and then send me a bill for $225 for labor for the full hour. I asked them to prorate the hour but they refused. they are getting expensive. read more

We always use B&D for our plumbing issues. Although they probably aren't the least expensive, 1. They are professional. Their plumbers always show up on time and can get an appointment within a day. 2. They are honest. They don't push replacing old functioning equipment. We still have our old Weil McClain Boiler that was installed in 1957 by the previous owner. The plumber of our general contractor pressured us to replace the boiler, however B&D came for maintenance and told us that the boiler was fine. They also gave us good advice about replacing our hot water heater. When something needs to be replaced, they fix what is necessary. We have had issues with contractors not showing up, not backing up their work or being less than honest with repairs. Although B&D is not the cheapest, I continue to use them because I know when I call them, the issue is resolved quickly and honestly. read more

I can't say enough great things about B&D Plumbing. They come to your home dressed in clean work clothes and interact with the customer in a professional demeaner. They always identify the problem quickly, have all the tools, equipment and materials available and the best part is, they clean-up before they leave. Prior to hiring B&D, I've had plumbers come into my home with black greasy boots, clothes and hands, leave marks on my floors and walls. One was installing a stove and within seconds, lost the screws to attach the top of the stove. I had one plumber who put in baseboard heat and left the pipe dripping hot water on my beautiful Oak floors. What a calamity! We've been a B&D since we moved to Red Hook in 2003. They are always responsive in an emergency (even after Sandy) and they stand by their work. I have found them to be reasonable and the work is always done cleanly and with craftsmanship. I would recommend them highly. I love B&D. I live in an old house with old plumbing and a very old and unique boiler. We have had at least a dozen plumbers in and out trying to deal with issues - especially the boiler - and always getting it wrong. From the beginning, B&D properly diagnosed our issues and handled the problems until they were solved. In addition to being professional and knowledgeable, they are also incredibly nice and personable (Bill Jr and I now have a deep relationship). I also really appreciate how fast they are. In a cold winter like this one has been, even when we have had issues, they have always been able to help same day. We had a problem with my toilet before a huge party and they made sure there was a solution in place in time. These guys are true pros. Why four stars? Just one reason: PRICE. Plumbers are always expensive, but these guys are at the top. I have had success with B&D and would recommend this company. I own a place in Brooklyn and I have often had to call them about heating and AC issues. They are prompt, which I appreciate because I have tenants that I want to take care of. And the times that I've spoken with Bill Sr. I get the feeling that he's a rational, fair guy that's not out to BS you. Bill Jr was nice to deal with as well. I recently had an issue where they had to replace a part that malfunctioned within 6 months. The part had a 1 year warranty, which they honored (as opposed to making me pay up front while they chase the manufacturer for a refund and reimbursing me at a later date). Great plumbers - and how often can you say that??? Recently had Tony and Neil over for our kitchen remodel - truly stellar service! Tony was extremely knowledgeable - he saved us the costs of the contractor breaking down a wall in the basement and repairing that wall to get to a pipe by running the line a different way. His suggestion didn't cost us a penny more on his end either, so I knew he wasn't looking to make an extra buck, he truly thought out the best way to do the job. Both guys were professional, detail-oriented, and went above and beyond to get the job done quickly. Couldn't be more pleased than I am - thank you B&D! In the fall, Chris and Eric had serviced our radiators and boiler - they also did a fantastic job and didn't try to push a new boiler on us, even though ours is pretty old. Their honesty, professionalism, knowledge, and thoroughness is what prompted us to use B&D again for our kitchen project. Not that I hope to ever have plumbing issues, but if I do, B&D will be the company I turn to.
