I think it's about time I air out a bit of dirty laundry regarding a very "known" shop in the northeast named PetrolWerks... After months of research and digging, I found an incredibly well regarded performance shop named "PetrolWerks" located in Long Island, NY. I spoke with the owner Moe Khan (Can't tag he blocked me) about undertaking the completion of the engine swap and was promised a 6-8 month timeline for full completion (Brakes, Suspension, Electrical, etc...) There has been numerous interruptions on his shops behalf (Eviction from previous property for safety compliance issues) which delayed the build for a bit. Eventually I saw a post by a very well-known enthusiast in my area that had to "repossess" his car from PetrolWerks and he explained to me in full detail the whereabouts of my car, and the condition it was likely in... I was very surprised to hear this, and made every attempt possible to get my car out of the place it was. After weeks of trying to reach someone with nothing but silence, I decided to just "show up" with a flatbed behind me. When I called the shop to tell them I was outside with a truck to pick up my E30. I had to go to a secondary location where Moe told me the car was, and I wanted to throw up when I saw the condition/state the car was left in... This car had a low mileage fully refreshed/resealed/machined S52 swapped into it, with every part to complete the swap twice over. When I arrived, every single part I had provided was "missing" and the engine bay had a TREE growing through it. Upon inspection once I brought the car home, the damages from the neglect left me no choice but to send the car to be crushed/scrapped. THIS SHOP IS THE WORST!!!!! They take advantage of most of their customers but the few that make them look good on social media they will do anything for. I do not use social media at all, so I was taken advantage of brutally. I found photos of my motor in another persons car at one point and was never told anything about why. Then "oddly" my car wasn't running and had no motor in it for over a year and a half????? I can only imagine what was happening to my motor during that time. Also I was yessed to death and promised everything and completely ignored when it came to the majority of important things that I wanted. The workmanship is AWFUL!!! I saw them set my car on fire while they were rushing to weld things together so that I could take the car back after I had threatened to tow it out due to their lack of doing anything for so long. It was in pieces for nearly 2 years! Its easy to find a person that throws high quality parts in to a car. Its another thing to find a shop that knows how to do it properly. This shop just doesn't know how to do anything well except for stacking cars all over the property. I also hated how Moe always knew how to justify how things were going. He knows how to talk and make you feel good while he ruins the dreams you have. Also, to all the guys that support each other on social media and business with Petrolwerks, you're only as good as the shops you work with and you should be embarrassed to support this one. This is a personal review but I almost never wrote it. The motivation to write it came from witnessing numerous other examples of other people being taken advantage of (that aren't writing reviews for themselves) and Moe not seeming to care at all. It should've been a dead giveaway seeing 1000 cars stacked up outside in a thousand pieces. as if that wasn't bad enough, the shop is a disgusting workspace. If you have a nice car you shouldn't bring it to a shop that is this embarrassing to the neighborhood or the car world in general. I'm sorry I didn't pay attention to other bad reviews. I gave them a call months ago because I had a 3.85 FD rear differential out of an E92 M3 that I was looking to get rid of. I spoke with Mo and he told me to bring it in to have a look at it. When discussing pricing, he asked if I wanted to trade for anything. I said I'd trade for an E92 M3 transmission output flange and an M4 flywheel. He said he absolutely had them somewhere in the mountain of junk transmissions laying around in the garage, but he needed time to dig them out. I said that's fine since I didn't need the parts for a couple months. Mo gave me $400 cash collateral in the meantime, to be repaid when I got the other parts. 7 weeks later I call back to see if they dug the parts up. Not yet. Told them I needed the parts in about 3-4 weeks, and Frank said no problem. 3 Weeks later I am calling every single day and I keep getting the excuse that they are super busy, etc. etc. followed by "I thought you said a different part", blah blah blah. Bullshit. Frank then tells me that they have this part and will look for it. More calls and no answers and no returned messages. Finally I get through to him again today and he says they have no transmission output flanges, nor do they have an M4 flywheel. So now that my car is in another shop, sitting in a hundred pieces, having a driveline swap done and is missing 1 crucial piece (the output flange!) that I was promised they had multiple times, they tell me they don't have one at all. So now I am scrambling to find another one so I can get my car back together and driving again. You guys really fucked me over on this one. Thanks for absolutely nothing. 0/10 would not recommend. Great shop. I haven't come here for any official work on my car, but I did come for an inspection. Service was fast and friendly. I have had issues in the past of bringing my car for an inspection elsewhere where they have told me that my car wouldn't pass inspection unless I had the doppleganger changed which, as you know, is connected to the ackamarackus for the mere sum of $2,000. I appreciate this shop's honesty and integrity. Thanks for taking good car of Edgar (my car) during his inspection. If my car needed work, I know that I could trust this shop. read more

I have never experienced such poor service in all of my years dealing with Infiniti service. I brought my car in for NYS Inspection and airbag recall repaired... I pick up my car and the dashboard is damaged with scratched and cracks, my Bose front speaker has white stuff spilled in it and bent, the cd and DVD player wasn't working, the speaker sounded like a transistor radio, the glove compartment door was loose, white substance spilled on the center panel passenger side, the upholstery cloth panel was loose and exposing foam panel, dirt, and oil stains on roof and sides of the car. I could not believe my car was in this type of condition. This is unexpectable performance. I had to call the General Director to get in touch with the Manager of Service... The Client Specialist called and asked me to rate the service and I told her a ZERO. I would not advise anyone to patron this site at ALL or at least the service department. Let me start out by saying I find it hard to believe all of the good reviews are legit. The waiting area was like most repair shops. Not that clean and not that nice. I could not see me spending any time there other than to wait for my car. In fact I had to get up and walk outside a bunch of times just to get out of there. I think when the owner is in things are OK but the experience I had was awful to say the least. I am a business adviser and have worked with thousands of businesses over a 30+ year career. I can tell when there are issues and this business had serious issues in the back. It wasn't so much the work that was done but the way they handled my situation. It was obvious to me that they were not working on my car because they kept coming up with excuses about why it wasn't ready. I brought my car in on Wednesday for an alternator. I asked the gentleman at the counter to also take care of one of my headlights. The price of the alternator was around $900 so he said he was "shopping around for a better price". He took very detailed notes to a point that I thought was obsessive, excessive and unwarranted. I've had plenty of work done to cars and I never came across anything that even came close to this. I got a real bad feeling about this and the worst was yet to come. I was told it should be ready on Thursday. Thursday afternoon came and no phone call. I called and they said it would be ready Friday. Friday came and they said it would be Saturday. After two and a half days of not having a car I was finally informed Saturday evening that my car was ready. When I arrived I was told it would be a few minutes. I was told this several times. A few times a mechanic would come out for something and ask me what I was waiting for. When I told him the blue Mercedes he would say "Oh yeah, it's just about ready". I must have waited an hour and a half before I actually got my car. When I started to drive away I realized that despite his detailed notes he did not have my light fixed. It was just a bulb but I specifically told him that I needed it fixed. When I brought it back he said "oh shoot, we forgot about that". And they replaced the bulb. As I was driving away I noticed that my heat gauge was not working. Once again I had to go back. This time I had to go through the back and find one of the mechanics I knew was involved with fixing my car. The place was big. A lot bigger than it looked like from outside. It was almost like they had a second building that was hidden from the public. I felt sick when I saw the people they had working there. They looked like homeless people working on cars. If you don't believe me ask them to show you around the back only don't stop at the immediate back. Go all the way to the left and you will see what Im talking about. I found the mechanic and he claimed something about pulling the wire out to fix the alternator and it was corroded or something and probably wouldn't work. I think he just forgot to reattach it. He reattached it and it worked. As I drove away the check engine light was on. Once again I went back and this time Mo was there. He fixed the check engine light and I found him to be a likable guy. Had he been around I'm thinking I may not have all of these problems but a good business has to run without the owner there. He would need to put someone competent in charge and the people I had to work with did not handle my situation properly. I believe that I was pushed off to the side because they had other more "urgent" business to attend to. Had they told me they couldn't get to it for a few days I would have said fine. My advice is 1: Don't rely on all of the positive reviews like I did. 2: Make sure Mo is there and on top of the job. 3: Check out the adjacent building where they have people that are probably not legal working on cars. 4: Make sure they are not the ones working on your car. One last thing-they list their hours as 9am-7pm. I don't think they were ever in before 11. That should tell you something right there! read more

Petrolwerks is awesome. I have been coming here for the longest time, and it has always been a true gear head's dream. They always have the most complicated cars in there, and if you own a complicated car, you would want to bring it somewhere where they know what they're doing. I bring my BMW in for regular maintenance, I'm out of warranty so the dealer isn't an option; between the dealer and here, I probably cut my costs down by around 50% or more depending on the job. From simple things like oil changes to the complicated engine swaps they are the people you want to go to. Moe is great, he is a funny guy but takes things seriously and will get the job done. He will listen to everything you have to say, and will catch things you never thought of, and will check EVERYTHING if it is of concern. They do everything as well, its hard to find a very good performance oriented one stop shop. You won't be disappointed here! A true car guy's haven. read more

I gotta say, Moe, the owner, is a great guy and knows his stuff. Now I'll give my review. I brought my 2002 Maxima to him a few years back for a door hinge replacement as mine was sagging (thanks Nissan). So he installed said door hinge and even painted it to match. Well, I was so impressed with his work that I came back to do a valve cover gasket, new spark plugs, thermal intake spacers, and exhaust work. I had a bit of vibration from the exhaust work at first but that was because the manufacturer didn't do a good job making it. I came back and Moe fixed it no problem. He didn't complain like most shops do, he made sure I was happy. So now a few months later, my transmission started acting up. I drive a 6 speed and the synchros in 2nd gear started grinding. I called Moe to see what his thoughts were and after speaking with him I decided he was the guy to do my tranny too. Let me tell you, not only did Moe do a great job that's been holding up for 2 years now, he even took the time to research specifics about my car and discovered a Tranny upgrade that wouldn't cost me extra but would actually cost LESS than initially quoted and last longer (for gear heads I'm talking about the Spec-V tranny swap). Anyway, it put a big grin on my face, because most shops would just try to get the most money out of me possible. More recently I took my other car to him, an 89 Civic that I use as an extra car when someone in the family needs one. The car wasn't running at all. Moe identified the problem, fixed it, and now the civic runs better than ever before. More of a hangout spot, Took my BMW to get two sensors fixed they ended up splicing and burning my vacuum sensor out they didn't even notice,, charge me extra because they said they had to solder it, but they actually only ended up crimping it together, went to a different mechanic they took it out and noticed that they even bent the new sensors, this shop is a parts changer shop they don't know how to diagnose cars read more

Not organized at all. Made an appointment for 03/09/2019 to have my headliner replaced. Arrived @ 9:00am when they opened. Nobody was there. Came back @ 10:00am, Nobody was there. Called @ 11:00am and finally spoke to someone who told me that they don't see an appointment, which I made with the owner Mr. Khan. (I have the "YELP" email conversation to prove it.) They told me that Mr. Kahn was in Texas and they would call him. Got a call back at 12:00pm and was told to make another appointment. Needless to say, I found another place close to me to do the work. I wasted half a Saturday chasing this appointment, only to find that the owner, Mr. Khan, never told anyone about the appointment. I wish this place was run better because I only live 3 blocks from here and would LOVE to find a reputable shop that says and does what they say they are going to do. I was quoted $550 to do the work needed.I went to pick up the car on a Monday even though I was promised Friday.I did have a appointment made 10days earlier ok Covid np.I get there Monday to meet the owner MO for 1st time with a $1700 invoice. I had to agree on half just to get my car out of there.The owner MO went outside to talk to the person test driving my car while we were trying to understand each other.I got the car back with multiple vacuum leaks that took me 2 days to find them all.They were supposed to smoke test the car for vacuum leaks.How did I have one of my blowoff valves destroyed causing it to open after 2500 rpm a rev-it was removed that never comes loose it was brand new .They tried keeping 6 injectors - 6 sparkplugs;I forgot in there shop and had to go back to get them worth 1g alone.I had a new Stillen front lip in the car just picked up from infinti and can no longer be used they destroyed it by bending it the answer was heat it up it's polyurethane.I had the oil changed there but the car was bellowing smoke after I left for 2 days. I got the oil dropped immediately later that day and the smoke went away.( the pic bellow is after I put 2 quarts of 5w30)to find out it was diluted with something the filter is going to a lab to have tested Pic will be on the bottom.The picture does no justification of the watery viscosity of what was in my new engine and turbos!!!!by way they only except cash!unprofessional Business bottom line!!! read more

Look, nowadays mechanics CANNOT be trusted. But when i tell you this company here is gold, i mean it. The entire staff is very down to earth, easy to talk to and patient with any questions. They are informative, young and passionate about what they do. Over the years they have come a long, far way. If you own anything ($500 Honda to a $500,000 Mclaren) bring it here. Reasonable pricing, caring, non-stress environment and people. I don't need to mention Mo because as you can tell from the other reviews, he's a fantastic guy. This was the first time I worked with Petrolwerks and Moe I have to say, It's was a pleasure dealing with Moe and his team. He is very personable and down to earth guy and will always keep you in the loop with whatever size project you have going on. He even called me one night at 11pm when he was leaving the shop just to give me an update which I appreciated. They did great quality work and I am very happy on how my headers, full exhaust, gauges, clutch and transmission swap came out. Drove my car there in hope of a fix for a slight overheating issue and intake leak. 6 months later i towed it back to my house to do it myself to find my engine completely filled with water. would have been an easy fix for a shop but they only work on bmws here. read more

Moe has been there for me and is my go-to guy for the last 5 years. He's extremely friendly and honest. He'll walk you through and show you what the problem is with your car and give you available options on how you want to handle the matter. Most of all, I trust him. It didn't take long for me to see him as a friend first, and mechanic second. The shop is a 32 mile drive out from where I live, but I have no issue driving there. Perfect example of judging smethibg based on looks, (just bc something or someone looks good on the outside, it doesn't mean they are good on the inside).... The reviews look good, the cars that are there look good. The service you get is horrible to put it mildly. Don't bring your car here, there are many other options, don't let this be one. Please learn from my mistake, I was extremely gullable with this place. Unlike most mechanic shops that want to fix your car as fast as possible for the most amount of money, this place will fix their own cars, and use them to win races while your car sits there. They have no problem collecting money from you yuover and over, but you will never get a straight answer to your questions. Forget about calling them for an udmmbvthey rarely answer, you will get a machine, and won't even a response. If you being your car there do it only have panother car to get around in, and don't mins not having your car for years..... mo is a great guy but he doesnt know about half the stuff hes talking about. there is a bunch of pictures on facebook and other social media but they didnt work on those cars, they just taking pictures of them. had some work done there and found out it was crap when i was doing some service on the car for spring. they might be half decent for puting on ur rims, changing ur oil and brakes but if its anything else more major, i would take it to a performance shop that at least have a dyno. i would not recommend this place for anyone that wants to do more than a oil change . my 2 cents. read more
