I brought Artie my car about 5 years ago. Maybe he forgot but I didn't. I should have left this review earlier but I was busy I brought my corvette to get fixed and tell him my oil needed changing in my Corvette. My car engine was blown and I ended up selling the car for Pennies on the dollar. Would never deal with this scum bag shop ever again. Artie will tell you he fixed your car and he will give it back and never work again. Avoid this corrupt terrible shop like the plague! read more

Tire pressure light came on for right front tire. Had dropped in and Mike went above and beyond his call of duty. Not only greeted and apologized for the wait (2 min), he filled up all four tires according to what the dealer recommended (on the sticker on driver side door) and checked for any nails and leaks. Even gave me two valve caps to replace the missing ones at no charge. Highly recommend Mike!! Will definitely be back in the future for any and all car issues. read more

I once had to get towed from Citi Field back to Syosset and after multiple useless calls back and forth with a popular roadside assistance company, I finally called J&M and Paul saved the day!! I hate to say I've had to get towed several times with every car I've owned, but every time has been hassle-free!! these people are sleazy bags. I dropped off my car for an oil change and a couple hours later they called me to pick up my car. When I checked the oil, obviously it was not change, the same color and depth as I had seen before the oil change. I went back and told that sleazy bag at the counter and he called me a liar. total asshole. Do not ever go to this fucking place. read more

I recently drove to NYC from Southern California. While visiting friends in Syosset, my BMW 3 series died on me. Every warning light was going off like a pinball machine, and the car sounded like a cement mixer. I had AAA haul the car to J&M, and I thank my lucky stars that I chose them. Randy started by eliminating variables. A reset and oil change settled things down. Randy asked me to put some miles on it and bring it in if/when a warning light appeared. Within 21 miles, the check engine light went off. Randy diagnosed it as an engine sensor gone bad and replaced it. Problem solved! This process took place over a period of days. J&M is a short walk to the LIRR station and train into Manhattan, so access to J&M during this process was not a problem for this city dweller. I came by train to pick up the car on a Saturday afternoon, not realizing J&M was only open that morning. Not a problem. Michael had their tow truck driver open the office to get me my car key, and allowed me to pay the following week. Randy & Michael and their entire team at J&M Auto Repair are good honest people. They understand and practice customer service as well as any organization I have seen. I appreciate the great job they performed and I am grateful for the graciousness they showed that Saturday. read more

Been a customer for more than 10 years and ever since the son has taken over management of this place, they have been less than reputable. Most recently they serviced the car including battery replacement and few other things and delivered the car back to the garage. When I went to use the car and inspected under the hood - the old battery was back in the car; the car was dead and could not start; when I installed a new battery the car would not start; clearly they did not service the car. Will pursue legal action particularly since they quoted one price, invoiced and second price, and billed a third price, what!!! Avoid this place if at all possible. read more

While this is a distance from me, the honesty, professionalism and concern is worth it! Randy is a trustworthy individual who has been in business for some time now. Whenever I head over here there are others who have been coming for yeas and years. My car is always scheduled and they take me on time, my fees are discussed before repairs are done and they even complete it same day if parts and time allow. I have been looking for an honest mechanic since I started driving, and found several at J&M. They are real experts and will explain exactly what needs to be done to your car, why it needs to be done, and how much it will cost. To give you an idea how much I trust these guys, every time my 19 year old daughter is about ti drive ten hours to college, I bring it to J&M to look over everything and fix anything that needs to be fixed. It makes me relax a little knowing the car will be solid for that long drive. read more

These guys are top notch. Years ago my BMW had a check engine light that would come and go for no apparent reason. Took it to the bmw dealer and they told me I'm not putting the gas cap back on right. Brought the car to these guys and Mike did some serious digging to find out that the problem required a software update for the evap system. Great place to get a car fixed. Have brought in flat tires, fixed right away, with no waiting. And got me going. They treat you right and the prices are great. Brought in for tune ups, and recently for a broken muffler pipe. Car has never sounded better. Check engine light is now off as well. I can't say enough good things about them. They are close to the Syosset LIRR station. So if you can't get a parking spot, you can drop off for an oil change, and skip the parking. I've also dropped off my car for a repair and headed over to the wine specialist for a tasting while I waited. read more

They always remember your name and are quick to provide you with any details you may ask about the service being done to your vehicle. Was recommended by a friend whose family has been going here for over 10 years. Went to another local shop with a brake problem and said I needed about $930 worth of repairs or else I'd crash my car and get sued (tried to scare me into getting the work done then and there, and weaseled $40 diagnostic fee out of me). Called up this spot, gave me a brief estimate of worse case scenario after I gave him the details of what the other shop had said - he ballparked me $600 if all those things were necessary, but told me he could check it out and might be able to repair some parts instead of replacing it. Ended up paying much less than that! Will definitely be coming back here if my car ever needs repairs. read more
