At that time, I also requested that a NYS Inspection be done on my vehicle during this routine service visit. Not until I got home did I realize that the inspection of my vehicle was mistakenly not done. After this was brought to the attention of the new Service Manager, Richard Hines, he immediately went well above and beyond my expectations in attempting to rectify the innocent error in failing to inspect my vehicle, by offering to pick up my vehicle at my home and leave me a loaner vehicle until which time the inspection is completed......then returning my vehicle back to me at home while picking up the loaner....The offer made by Richard in rectifying the situation is a clear indication of his committed effort in providing the most exceptional of service to the customers have come to expect from Grand Prix Subaru....Such an effort should not only be recognized , but should be highly commended......Thank you , Richard...... read more

STAY AWAY LOL I canceled a warranty on my vehicle (that was pushed by Adam Frania), and the refund was processed back in Jan. However, months later, the dealership has still not applied the refund to my loan account. When I contacted the warranty company, they confirmed that the claim is closed and that the dealership has already received the funds. Communication has been terrible. I've had to repeatedly reach out just to get basic updates, and even then, I've either been ignored or given vague responses with no real resolution. Antonio Salamone literally has no idea what's going on. This level of negligence and lack of accountability is unacceptable, especially when it involves a customer's finances. A reputable dealership should handle something like this promptly and transparently. If you're considering doing business here, I highly advise you to think twice. There are plenty of dealerships that actually respect their customers and handle transactions properly--this is not one of them. This was my first time purchasing a car and I 100% feel that they had taken advantage of me because of that. They did not explain the process out to me nor did they contact me AT ALL. Jerks you around when buying or leasing a car. Pretends they are giving you a great deal when they aren't. Talked me into a 39 month lease - but didn't say I would need to pay extra because the warranty ran out in 36 (until was signing the paperwork) and would have to buy additional insurance to cover the last months. And that extra insurance was paid each month of the 39 months lease so ended up costing over $350 more for the lease. Another issue with the 39 months lease is the remote start suddenly runs out in 36 months unless you want to pay even more - and sure wasn't ideal in the winter. Difficult servicing because of the location of the dealership. Very congested area with cars zooming by. If you refuse to do expensive unneeded maintenance, they make you wait hours for a simple oil change. At end of lease, they tell you they will buy the car when you turn it in and that you don't even need to get it appraised beforehand. Then they back out and stick you with a disposition fee and possible damages even though the car is in good condition because you don't want another car from them. But of course if you do want a car from them, they're all smiles and will waive the last payments and the disposition fee as a courtesy. The car itself gets lousy mileage. Supposed to get 26 city and 34 highway and barely gets 22 combined. Has some bizarre quirks as well that worried me when driving it - and not things that are normal performance. Of course the service department could never replicate it. And beware the so called leather seats. A place that repairs seats said it's a known defect in Subarus and not cheap to fix. read more

I bought a 2014 forester from them. They we super hard selling the extended warranty. Like aggressive scare tactics... On multiple service checks they didn't rotate my tires when it was listed on the paperwork as something they had done. My last service check I knew I needed new tires and didn't want to pay what they wanted to charge for tires I didn't want. I got the tires I wanted up the street at a tire shop where they noticed on of my brake rotors was badly worn and the caliper pin was sticking... grand prix missed the brake damage in their inspection and let me leave the lot in a car that was dangerous to drive. read more

The VIP program -- which promises complimentary oil changes and is still advertised on their website as a lifetime benefit that "never expires" -- was a factor in my decision to buy here. The dealership honored free VIP oil changes for years. I have invoices proving it. When I came in on 4/13/2026, I was denied and told the program doesn't work that way. The Service Director cited conditions that appear nowhere in the program terms. Be cautious about the VIP program promises when buying here. I leased a plug-in hybrid crosstrek back in aug 2022. I knew they were charging me a mark-up but I needed the car right away and agreed on a monthly price of $XXX.00 for 39 Months with 1.2k mileage a month. I signed the agreement on May 2022. Paid the deposit of $500. A week later I find out my workplace has a $XXX.00 credit when leasing/buying a car from Grand Prix Subaru. I contacted the GM directly and asked for some upgrades (Weather proof flooring + LED Lights). I have the e-mail chain with him replying that he took care of it. Come Aug 2022 and the car is delivered voila: Suddenly the rates are different. The bank is financing differently than MAy 2022. Then why did I pay the deposit on a paper that states my original rate? I'm not just paying to reserve the car, I'm paying to reserve the car at THAT PRICE for THAT DEAL. Also what else: The car did not come with the upgrades. General manager did not even come out to explain. I had to fight tooth and nail to get the weather proof flooring. I wanted the price of the LED Lighting as discount but they said I could only choose one. I kept fighting some more and they put that in credit towards the service department. Went in for my complimentary service and guess what? No Credit on my account. All the sales people are nice. It's the upper management in this place that'll screw you over. Bought 21 outback a few years ago , buying process was relatively smooth and the dealer worked hard to get me the car we wanted . The car we wanted , color and trim level was very difficult to get . YMMV with service , Dan the repair liaison is a good guy and strong customer advocate. That said avoid the high priced extended warranties, IMO they're a rip-off and a huge money maker for the dealer . Trust me they will look for ways to wiggle out of honoring the warranty . Like any car dealer just be specific and don't let the finance /service types do Jedi mind tricks on you . I have had my car serviced only at Grand Prix from day 1 and had been satisfied--the work and service was excellent. But something changed 2 years ago--sloppy work, little mistakes that required I go back for a fix which was inconvenient. I then started to be inundated with marketing emails followed by "reminders" to service my car when service was unnecessary. But this year when I brought my car to be service, some of the routine work was not done. Bought my 2015 Crosstrek here. From start to current, bad experiences. Let's start with the salesman when i was in first to get my car. Lets first note, that salesman was gone when i brought my car back for its first maintenance - not a good sign. He at that time told me oil changes and NYS inspections were free for life. I still have the screen shot that he gave me saying this. Only to find out they either changed it or it was never, oil changes for life. Only first year. At time of test drive, i asked if we can take the Crosstrek to test it on uneven roads. He said that we had to stick to the routes they are given. Lie I find out later. And the car handles like complete garbage with the factory tires. The worst and the car has no pep. Was never taken on a road where I can test that pickup. During the times I have taken my car in over the years, its always an issue. Factory maintenance, and i schedule a loaner car. I arrive, and they say "oh we dont have enough loaners today". They didnt calculate it correctly. Their shuttle service is some guy that takes one of the cars to take you home or to work. Nice to offer, but if they dont have a car or someone to take you, your stuck. Any time we call for appointments for service, you always feel rushed off the phone. And i am not alone there. I know 2 families that bought from Grand Prix, and they said the same thing! Over the years, we have asked them to look at issues, such as AC being not cold and clicking noise as we drive. Each time, they say they are unable to find an issue or hear issue. Now that my warranty is up, I am willing to bet they find these issues now. Their VIP promise is just a gimmick in my opinion. You would think over the years, it would have gotten a bit better. But, its not. I cant say its been worse, but never got better. Just feels like its sell the car, get them in and paid, and thats it. Service is just that, service. Nothing great. Staff is always friendly but sometimes feels fake. JUST DO BETTER. Dont make empty promises. I would suggest changing the oil change VIP. Very disappointed with the "FAKE" VIP service. I was told it will give me free oil changes lifetime before I bought the car. But it isn't, I have been charged around $ 2000 for the VIP service on the receipt. Yes I know, all services have their cost. But when I go to this dealer for the third or fourth time, I was just told "NO MORE FREE OIL CHANGE", so each oil change cost me $ 500 without any information of the brand and type of the oil or the filter, which I can do it myself for only $100 with the best full synthetic oil and genuine filter. Do they consider my life would be ended in one or two years? Without being forced to pay so much money for something far from worth it, I can also have my right to choose or not to go to this dealer to do the oil change. I have lost both money and services by their trick Be careful to make your deal with this dealer! read more

I recently purchased my second Subaru from Grand Prix. With both vehicles I purchased the extended warranty and for the first year, they include free oil changes and lifetime inspections. I am always wary about using the dealer for service because they always try to upsell you additional, sometimes unnecessary, adds. I was due for my 90 day maintenance and oil change. I reluctantly called and was informed that I had to make an appointment for a 15 minute oil change. I was very specific that I would wait for my car and that I expected that if I made an appointment that I would be taken in at that time slot. I was assured that this is the reason for appointments. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment and waited 20 minutes for a "service advisor' to check me in for my complimentary oil change. He asked if I would be leaving my car or waiting for it. I told him that I would wait and that was the reason I agreed to an appointment. I was then informed that it would be a 1 1/2 to 2 hour wait. I expressed my displeasure with this and asked why they would even make appointments that they could not honor. He informed me that there were 4 to 5 cars ahead of me. My time is very important so I told him to cancel the service and give me my car back. I wasted almost 2 hours. This is probably the worst service department anywhere. Don't be fooled by their "VIP' service. It's just a sales pitch that they don't honor once you drive off the lot. Not sure if this is the way all Subaru dealers operate or it's just this one. Unless I have a major warranty issue, I will not go back there for anything, including my next Subaru purchase. EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED read more

It specifically says this in the pamphlet they hand out to induce you to buy from them. Did they give us a loaner? Nope. Plenty of excuses about how that's only for "major" services, but no loaner. I went in for an oil change, wheel alignment and an inspection. I was told they were busy and would be about 2-3 hour wait. While waiting they sent me a text with a list of recommendations for different parts I may want to fix on my car (shown in picture). I declined them all and finally received my car after waiting 4 hours. I drove off and after a couple miles I noticed they never changed my inspection sticker. So I had to drive back. When I told them about the inspection sticker they told me it didn't pass the inspection because of light bulbs I didn't choose to replace. All I was given was a list of recommendations which I thought were optional. And I was never told by not replacing certain things on this list that my car would not pass inspection (was never even told at all that my car didn't pass the inspection). Decided to replace a few things on the list on my own. Take a look at how much they're jacking up these prices. $90 for a filter I got for $20 and took me 1 minute to replace. And $48 for 2 bulbs that cost me $7 a pair. I've been taking my car to Grand Prix for repairs ever since I purchased the car here in 2015. But they keep doing things like this to me, so I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Update: after replacing the bulbs and filter on my own, I went back the next day for the (free) inspection. I got there at 9:30 and they told me I would have to wait 2 and a half hours. So I left and took it to a local mechanic. It passed the ($37) inspection and the local mechanic had my car a total of 9 minutes. read more

I recently bought a car here and it was a pretty typical 'car dealership' workforce. A 'meh' experience is all I can muster. A main complaint I have is that when I walked in I said I was interested in a car they have on the lot and they brought over a well dressed sales person and were like "please sit down a let me help you". Once they realized I was looking at a 21k pre-owned car they said, "oh we can't help you" and lead me to a different room where the "used" sales associate could help me. It really makes you feel like you're second class even though I walked in with an approved loan, $6000 down payment, and a 800 credit score. The second issue was that I came in at the end of the month and the manager was trying to make me buy the car asap so that he could make his numbers for the month. Not great customer service. Other than that the car I purchased from them is quality and there's no issues. So I guess if you're buying a car, expect to deal with typical car dealership attitudes. What can be said about this place. They advertise VIP service but that is the furthest thing that they provide. VIP service clearly states when you buy the car (they probably changed this now with all the complaints) VIP with life of car. And one of those was complimentary oil and filter changed. Even my salesman at that time said it's something not many other dealerships offer. Later, you find out it's for the 1st year. Then after that, it's charged or free with a maintenance (ie 75k miles) which will cost an arm and leg anyhow. But let's focus on their prices. We recently had the car in for 75k service. They priced us out for 3 "attention now" type services. It was going to cost over $4600 for these services. We declined and was told Subaru will be a bit more expensive bc they back their parts for 1 year. We shopped around. Most places telling us this was an egregious price inflation. We found a shop we were happy with. Nearly 62% less that Subaru, using even better parts AND they back their work for a year from service date. Spoke to service advisor at this new mechanic we will use going forward. Told them we paid $399 for rear differential fluid change and he shook his head in embarrassment for Grand Prix. He said they work on probably 2 or 3 Subarus a week, and they hear a similar story. Grand Prix should be ashamed for their price inflation. And that they lie during car sales, to lock you in. It is shady and a sneaky practice. Think twice before buying from Grand Prix. Think 3 or 4 times actually. Get EVERYTHING in writing that they claim to offer. And after your warranty is up, shop around for a mechanic. read more

We took out extended warranties for 2 subarus and then cancelled within 14 days; Zurich refunded the money to the dealership, and the dealership is refusing to release the funds to us. read more

They are open but service and communication between their staff and with customers is horrendous. The service department puts one charge but the same information when paying at the cashier is sometimes vastly different by a large amount. I asked them to look into the AC which wasn't done. Two months ago came here for break checks and was told front breaks are fine and only changed the rear breaks. Then went back due to still hearing noise occasionally and now all of a sudden front breaks needed urgent change with adding another $600 charge. The one good thing about them is that their staff is nice and will try to reconcile. The manager stepped in and changed front breaks without charge. They still need to improve communication and transparency. Every staff says something different. This makes them not trust worthy. Go somewhere else. read more

I've probably sunk $2,000 into this $10,000 car in the past 6 months. When these things first came up, I reached out to the person who sold me this car. His response was basically to shrug and tell me that the average person spends $9,000 a year on car repairs. What?? I bought 2 new foresters from this dealer RIGHT when the world shut down in COVID. I came in knowing which 2 foresters I wanted and they saw that, I will give them credit with that. The main issues started when it came down to actually buying the car. The finance and sales people here are sleezeballs when it comes down to money. I was selling them my old jeep. In the paperwork they worked the money they'd give me for my jeep into my financed amount. Excuse me? I told them that's not happening, I am not paying interest in the money they are going to give me for selling my old car to them. I made them write me a separate check. Then it came down to the fiance nonsense. They use chase for financing. I told them from the beginning I was going to be using my own bank and I do not want to use chase. I got a better loan and just don't like chase. The next day after signing paperwork to buy the car, I get a notification I got a hard credit check from Chase. They simply didn't listen to me and run my credit anyway with chase. So I used my own bank and had 2 hard credit check run. Annoying The day of the financing paperwork....I like the price of the car, no issue. These slime balls had an INSANE amount of dealer fees built in. I'm talking about almost 2k. From destination fees which are BS, to 2 really, really slick dealer fees I warn people of from this dealer. They throw in a 400 dollar "replacement key fob replacement fee". Incase you ever need another key fob, supposedly it's covered since you paid this fee. Which frankly, I don't Believe for 1 second they wouldn't give you a hard time if you ever tried to order one from them for "free". They also had another 400 dollar fee for some BS paint protection chemical they put on the car. For both fees I was in a HEATED argument with them about. They insisted on the logistics that they can't remove them, blah blah blah. All slimeball tactics. They would not budge off these fees and I was unsure how else to proceed with all this since it was right when COVID happened and everything was shut down. I ultimately signed for both cars only getting the BS destination fee knocked off, and paid like 800 dollars in those other BS fees. I pretty much told them as I left that I'd never buy a car from them ever again and they were slimeballs. Fast forward to like 3 years later and I needed another car for the family. We ended up going to another Subaru dealer, north coast in Glen cove. LEGIT night and day difference in people, pricing and process. No BS fees and that dealer even told me grand prix is known for that slime stuff. The car I actually bought from north coast was a new car being sent to Grand Prix.
