Fun pet store! I bought 2 Java rice finch years ago and they are amazing birds! They do have a lot of pets and supplies.

They always have a good quality of pets, from fish, snakes and lizards. They also have birds . This is a good place to get pet supplies and food. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable in their products. I've been going here for a few years and I definitely prefer them over the chain pet stores. read more

My husband called Pet's & Such asking them if they had a particular Betta tank available that's been difficult to find. They said yes. He drove the 45-60 minutes to get there only to find out that wasn't true. Instead they sold him a different tank that they said might be better than our current tank. It was worse. The filtration system was not as good, the water pump output was just as disruptive, and despite it saying it was a 5 gallon tank, it was clearly smaller than our current 5 gallon tank. My husband drove the lengthy commute back to return it. They gave in-store credit, something which they conveniently didn't mention when he asked about the return policy when he was there the first time. If we had known that we wouldn't have risked getting the tank in the first place, especially considering the commute for us. So now if we want to use our store credit, we're looking at about a 2 hour commute to get anything ... read more

This is my go to place for exotic pets!! Love coming here to top off on supplies for my Tarantulas! They have a bountiful selection of cork bark, different sized crickets, and other feeders! They have so many Tarantulas to pick from, it's hard not to come home with another lil friend. As a cherry on top it's one of the few places in Utah to supply tarantula cribs! They have just about everything you could need for a habitat wether you are just starting out or setting up another one! The staff is very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable! Especially the owner, he seems to really love what he does and it shows in his shop. I always feel welcome here, I can't recommend pets and such enough!! read more

I had never heard of this store, but my husband was really wanting a Pink Princess Philodendron and someone said they were here for $30. That's a phenomenal deal, so we figured we'd check it out. They actually had quite a few Pink Princesses when we arrived. He chose one and then I started looking at all of the animals. There were so many different types to choose from...and some I've never heard of. My husband was geeking out over the fish because they had some he'd only read about. We almost went home with 4 baby Russian tortoises which we would have named after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (they were so cute)! I stopped in my tracks when I saw the Dwarf Puffer Fish. They were so intrigued with what I was doing and wherever I walked, they would follow me. I wanted to go home with the whole tank of them (they were $10 each). If I can get something set up at home, I'll definitely be back for them! It seemed to us as though everything was being treated well and being taken care of. There were many employees working and I think every single one of them asked if we needed help. They were extremely knowledgeable when we had questions. One employee was doing a little bit of sweeping with a rat on her shoulder (at least I think it was a rat). I loved it! If I had the space and money, I could get into a lot of trouble here. This is a really neat shop that I hope I get to visit again soon (and hopefully bring home some dwarf puffer fish)! read more

I was on vacation at my home in Park City and I decided to drive down to this pet store to check it out. Out of all of the pet stores that I have ever been to, this is by far one of the nicest ones. The animals were all well treated and had nice, clean enclosures. There was also extremely friendly staff that were eager to help and answer questions I had. I haven't had any real issues with this business. I've been there many times over the years for different things. I've always been acknowledged when I come in and treated well. My only issue is once I sent a message through their Facebook page back when I had Facebook, and they never replied, ever. I still go there though. No he tenido ningún problema real con este negocio. Started coming here after I was done with feeding crappy crickets to my bearded dragon and started with Dubia roaches which are so much better!! My beardy loves them and I love them too. So much cleaner than crickets, not smelly and full of good protein. So I fin ally started buying my dogs food from here as I had done the rounds with pet stores! Did big chain stores like Petco and Petsmart and was not happy. I also tried online ship direct to my house and was still not impressed. This place has excellent staff and a great selection with competitive pricing that still whoops the bigger chains. Love this local gem. read more

After visiting a dismal and disturbing pet store in Taylorsville known for their selection of reptiles, I was delighted to walk into Pet's & Such. Bright, clean, uncluttered. I was in the reptile décor section for less than a minute when I was approached by an employee asking if he could help me. When I asked if he had a certain reptile in stock, he replied that he did not, but named a suitable alternative. After browsing a bit, I went to the reptile section where again I was approached by a different staff member asking if he could help. The reptile the other employee had mentioned was a Redheaded Agama. I asked if I could inspect the animal. The staff member hesitated and didn't want to get the animal out. He let me look at it through the plexiglass and then proceeded to try to talk me out of it. He stated that Agamas are not great reptiles in general - that they were hard to handle and difficult. Anyone who has experience with Agamids know this simply isn't true. It was discouraging that this employee didn't know what he was talking about and was giving out misinformation. This store has a great selection of reptiles and supplies. And it seems that they take very good care of them. Their prices are quite over the top, but they are a locally owned business trying to survive. What do you expect? read more

I have been a customer since at least 22 years.. I have bought snakes lizzard and both fresh and salt water.. but never again will I hope here.. I understand all sales are final but we you sell a sick animals and wont give a cash refund within a hour after took the animals that is wrong.. so then I have to spend more the in store credit on stuff i dont need.. then to tell me i went 2.11 but wont take my card because it's under 5. yup I lost my temper after but really.. dont shop there sick animals are sold and they dont care. manger was rude when I told him how upset I was and so oh well when I told him he lost a customer that has shopped there for years.. read more

My wife and I have been going here for over a year now for our reptile needs and supplies. Every staff member I've worked with has been fantastic and patient. All are knowledgeable about their animals and how to care for them. Between my fellow reptile/Spider enthusiast friends this is the best pet store in the Valley and I would recommend them to anyone. In response to the other bad reviews I see here, with any exotic animal you need to research the heck out of it before you buy. These aren't like cats or dogs and aren't always hardy. Ask the staff and they will give you all the help you could ask for but with any exotic pet store you can't always guarantee anything. read more

If I could give this a zero star rating, I would. I bought a ball python from Pets and Such, and the employees were rude to me, and besides that, he would not eat. When I called the store, they were rude, unhelpful, and gave me no advice on how to help my snake. A few days ago (about 3 months after I bought him), my ball python passed away, and it was one of the worst days of my life, and they did nothing other than criticize me about how I was treating him. He was a little less than 1 year old, and they refused to give me a cash refund or even give me store credit. I would much sooner get a snake from my backyard than ever go back to Pets and Such. When my son asked for a red eyed leopard gecko, I thought our chances of finding one during the pandemic were going to be like finding a needle in a haystack. I happened by chance to come into Pets & Such and was blown away by their selection of leopard geckos and their knowledge about each of their personalities. They had over six with red eyes and they took their time to talk me through each one of them till I found the right fit for our family. I never felt rushed or pushed to make a decision and I visited the store several times and worked with several employees and they all knew each of the animals well and you could tell they enjoyed their jobs and caring for the animals. Ryan ended up helping us make our final decision and we have a great gecko that is comfortable being handled, a good eater and we have the right lighting for their sensitive eyes. I've been going there for years. They've always been amazing with customer service and returns. Well, until today. We bought rats there literally less than 24 hours ago and one of them passed away. They refused a refund or to replace the rat. We had to pay another 5 dollars if we wanted to get another one. 24 hours and one was already dead! Then, they refused to believe us when we told them she was ill. Mind you, I've owned rats for over 20 years. I know my stuff! "None of my rats are sneezing!" he said, but yesterday, we found a couple on the brink of death. I will NEVER set foot in that store again. read more

I went today to buy a prong for my little husky and boy oh boy, the person that was helping me was super descriptive and amazing with his words. He gave me more than enough information and provided me advices of how to use the prong. After encountering this great employee, I came across another amazing employee that gave me samples of some dog food and advice me on the nutritional values of them. We love our caique it however you spell it. We named it Bobo she is so fun. The bird already gives me kisses and lets my scratch him all over his head. He's not loud and he loves to be out of his cage. He climbs around like a dang monkey and does lots of acrobatics. Funniest bird I know. They are terrible. They deserve negatives. I'm fighting to get them to give me the money back that I spent trying to save an animal I bought from them on Saturday, October, 15th. He had to get emergency surgery the next morning due to mistreatment or poor genetics. Please don't buy from them. I'm out 600 dollars for the animal, some supplies, and surgey. But all I have to show for it is a shoe box with a dead animal in it. They are not helpful at all in our grieving. read more

The only reason I gave it one star was to get this published. This place is horrible. My son just purchased a cobalt tarantula not even 30 minutes ago and it died. The part owner of the store was rude and did not give a crap. His "spider expert" said it died of heat exhaustion. 6 minute drive in an air conditioned car and was brought home and put in the basement where its nice and cool and our other tarantula lived for 9 years. No refunds store policy. They offered 10 off after spending a 100. When asked how long have you been in business he said 31 years and I responded wow 31 years of ripping people off. My husband and son have spent so much money here but never again. Mark's Arc, they at least guarantee there pets with health care for 48 hours. Poor customer service. Our animal died less that a week after we got it, and they were rude when we asked for our money back, turns out they only have a 24 hour warranty. Nice way to cover their own backs. Spent over $700 dollars on an animal and now all we have is a fresh hole in our backyard and a lot of heartache over the loss of a new family member. I came here for a few supplies for my new addition, Phillip, a "pixie" (African bullfrog). I got helped by a really rad dude. I should have got his name. He was very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. He gave me everything I needed for Philip. I'm a reptile girl. So I don't really know much about amphibians. Great selection of both animals and supplies, but much of what they sell is overpriced, sometimes significantly. The only critters with fair pricing are their rodents and tarantulas. They have the best selection of spiders in the valley at very fair prices. Birds and reptiles are very expensive here. They also have plenty of salt and fresh water fish. Fish are healthy, displayed well, but priced pretty high as well. They expanded the store recently and invested in a much nicer fish area, so I imagine their overhead is pretty high, resulting in their inflated prices. But it's a nice place to window shop or waste an hour if you enjoy animals. The store is clean and pretty well organized. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They just need to work their prices down to a more competitive level. read more

Super awesome pet shop! Lost of fish that I've never seen before, some even had teeth! Tons of different birds, Bunnies, Chinchillas, hairless and regular Guinea pigs, Ferrets, and a HUGE selection of different kinds of reptiles and spiders. Very disappointing I came in yesterday and Jesse was AMAZING! Came back today to return a defective iten and Nick treated me like I ripped the item myself. Not a hello when I walked in or anything as he stood at the register when I walked in with four mouth old puppy. He was deep in conversation with a young child that was behind the counter that seemed like his kid. I let him know that I had a return. He let me know that I needed a receipt. I mentioned that I bought the item less than 24 hours before. I was told my only option was in store credit.I try to buy local and support the small stores. I will not be back to this store or ever say anything positive about this store. In my case they are just going to get my $40 dollar credit because they are not worth the 15 minute drive to pick from defective items or receive Wal-Mart quality customer service. read more
