The store is small, but it's clean, cute and local... and those are always pluses in my book. The gentleman who owns and runs the store is also very helpful and knowledgeable, so that made shopping for my pups a lot easier. I was in need of some goat milk for my chow puppy. The owner was super helpful in pointing me to a few recommendations that have kept his own dog strong, healthy, and happy. He offered a brand by the name of: Answers. He even offered advise on websites, youtube videos and educational sites regarding dog nutrition. I got the dog Kefir, goat milk and a variety of stocks which are all made on a farm. The owner even scored a sale on these amazing products for me. SUPER HELPFUL!! I stopped in Desert Raw yesterday, frantic, utterly confused and mistrusting of the advice I had been given by traditional veterinarians for years regarding our "special needs" dog, Bruce. After months of food trails, serums and steroids, immuno-therapy, and blood work, we were on a roller-coaster ride of slow improvements followed by rapid retrograde. Having done my own research on animal homeopathy online and committed to discontinuing the meds and vaccinations, consulting with Aspen was reassuring and hope-inducing that solutions for Bruce could be possible. She was knowledgeable and patient. Conferring with me about my findings and her own education in natural animal health and feeding. It is interesting when you read my complaint and the store owners response, you would think that this is an entirely different incident that he is responding to. Moreover, he wasn't there! So he is taking his employees account for completely true!? He didn't address the absence of price tags, he didn't address his employees ridiculous behavior in running after me and demanding my name! The response was as bad as his employee behaves via customers in his store. This was just a vindictive response that additionally makes no sense or addresses any point I made. I wish Zi would have called the police for being harrassed! How can he defend an employee who runs out of the store screaming and yelling, what is your name, you tell me your name!, Don't you ever come back here!! All that just because I asked about the major discrepancy in pricing and because I asked where the price tags are? Love this place! The owner is always helpful if you need recommendations. My dog loves the Lotus canned food, but sadly I can't convince him to eat raw. Great selection of honest kitchen products too! I also came in here on a snowy day once to look for a coat for my tiny dog. They had his size, thankfully. All the other big box pet stores didn't have a coat small enough to fit my dog. This place has everything I need though, and I don't waste my time going to chain stores anymore :) read more

Great selection of frozen raw for my puppy and kitty fur kids

Definitely not the pet store to go to. Owner cares more about his pockets than your pets. Seems like a good place the first couple times you go in, but after a few visits, our food started getting SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive. The owner, Luke, even told us himself that he had to charge us more for a different flavor of the same brand food only because it was more high demand. One of my last visits there, the owner was off the clock at the store and seemingly drunk (you could smell It from just talking to him and he was slurring quite a bit too) it was very uncomfortable and he became very confrontational with my husband (only after we had already purchased his product of course) and treated my husband with such disrespect I had to leave the store and left the product there. Luke, the owner, made a fool of himself to the point his wife went and hid at the back of the store after I paid her. My husband had to grab the food on his way out. Also, the food sold there can be bought for cheaper at ANY other dog store. We actually cut our costs in half, going to another pet store, and buy the same brand food and same quantity. That should tell you the kind of service they provide. I'd recommend not ever going in to that place unless you wanna be treated badly and break your wallet. read more

worst customer service imagineable! I try to shop local small businesses whenever possible, and have shopped here before with no problem. Last week, however, I stopped in to purchase some cat food. After paying, I realized that the price on the can was less than the amount I had been charged. When the person ringing me up asked the owner (a woman) how to fix the charge, the woman told me that I had to pay the higher price because it was in the computer. I was a bit outraged, and showed her the price on the can. She stated that customers change pricetags to get lower prices! I couldn't believe she insinuated that I had done that! I told her to look at the cans on the shelf, which she did and started pulling the price tags off the remaining cans. I will NEVER shop there again, and will tell all of my pet owning friends to avoid that shop. read more

I LOVE Desert Raw and its owners, Luke & Aspen! I could sit and talk to them (aka pick their brains) for hours upon hours. They both have impressive experience and knowledge about their products and about holistic pet care. My dog has a fear of fireworks, and of course I live next door to 2 firework loving families that love to shoot them off - constantly and not within legal days, ahem. My poor girl. I was introduced to the hemp goats milk and I paired that with relaxing dog music on YouTube - and we made it through all the fireworks last year - thanks to Aspen's help. Baxter was also doing his best to impress my girl - I think there is a mutual k9 attraction there. Want to know about titers - just ask. Want to know about feeding raw - just ask. They have literature in the store for your reading pleasure. There are samples for some of the products. You have a question - message them on Facebook - and they reply (sometimes within minutes!).
