When we moved to West Hollywood we didn't feel comfortable relying on neighbors. It was 2 days before we were heading down to Orange County for the day. We couldn't take the dog and knew we would be gone for 10 hours. I called Manymutts to see if would be able to arrange a last minute walk for our dog, Sydney. Jody was very helpful and set us up within 24 hours, which including meeting the dog walker, Marc, giving him our key, and signing the paper work. It was fast and she didn't charge us a last minute fee as some companies do. It was also nice we could use them as needed and not have to have recurring services. Marc was great with Sydney and you could tell he genuinely loves dogs. She loved him instantly. The day of the walk. He came over, fed her, took her for a stroll and spent some time hanging outside with her. He even fed our kitty and texted us a photo with an update on how everyone was doing! Of course we ended up using them again the next time we needed someone, which was the Fourth of July. They charge an extra fee, as expected considering it is a holiday. And Manymutts is not just for dogs! When we made plans to go out of town for a few days with the dog, I emailed Jody to see if Marc would be able to stop by and feed our cat Houdini. We were going to board him at one of those fancy kitty hotels for $65 - $75 a day in a private room but I figured I would check to see if they could do something so we could keep him at home b/c it's less stressful for him. Normal cats don't need such high maintenance but our cat is special needs (requires 2 pills a day), he is 16 years old, only eats wet food, and doesn't like other cats. Jody told me they offer kitty visits that are 30 minute each and cost $22 a visit. No extra money charged to give a pill and they will even bring in your mail and water your plants! I was so happy I checked with her b/c we were able to book 3 visits a day for less than 1 night at a kitty hotel and the care was so much better plus Houdi didn't have to leave the house. Marc wasn't available but I met 2 other wonderful pet sitters, Cinthia and Lindsay. Jody provided me their contact information and both took time to stop by to meet Houdini and get the instructions on how to care for him. They were amazing. They cleaned in and around the litter box and even changed the litter before we arrived home. They watered the plants, took the mail in, and took great care of our "old man." He was able to go outside in the morning for the day and sleep inside at night. He was well fed, took his medication, and had some cuddle time. Both Cinthia and Lindsay kept us updated with text messages and pictures, which i appreciate b/c then I know he is doing OK. Houdi loved his ladies and they felt the same way b/c they left me a note letting me know how much a good kitty he was :O) I HIGHLY recommend Manymutts for all your petsitting needs from dog walks to cat visits to extended stays. The prices are reasonable for the services and the people I have met so far are animal lovers so you know your pets will be well taken care of. I have to admit I'm a total control freak when it comes to a lot of things, especially my cat. I searched lots of pet hotels, lots of them do not take cats, a lot of them looks more like a shelter to me and I don't want my cat to feel like we abandoned him since he's was a rescued and could be more sensitive!?! He's also extremely afraid of being in the car so we decided maybe have someone come visit him in our house would be the best option. I saw couple different sites that offered the house sit service, they all seemed pretty nice and professional, but they requested to have a key box outside so the key never leave the house for security purpose. I understand why they do that, however that's also why I didn't use them because we are out for weeks each time and I don't feel comfortable my key is outside my house if someone actually break it and get in there and nobody would be responsible but me. While I was not sure what I should do, this close colleague of mine recommended Joyce to me. She and her friends been using Joyce's service for years and joyce has key to her house to pick up the dogs for daily walks. Another colleague also have joyce pet sit when she's out of the states too! I wasn't sure if joyce only pet sit dogs but I figured why not ask her anyway. YES, she pet sit cats too and she's not far from me! She came to meet me and Henry the cat and he immediately rubs on her which is unusual because he can get skittish around strangers and he bites and scratches and spazz out and go nuts running around the house when he plays rough. He's one nutty cat that's for sure! Joyce is great! You can tell she's genuinely an animal lover and she's so much gentler with my cat than us! I used her at least 3 times so far and each time were weeks and she took great care of Henry and when he made a mess in the house. She also gives me daily update with photos.
