Valerie squeezed us in on short notice and Dakota did the best job on our little rescue pup!. He's clean, fluffy and nails all clipped. He even got a treat when he was done. That was 5 years ago. This the BEST grooming place EVER!! I was in search of a new groomer because our regular groomer moved to Rancho Cordova, but was a little worried about leaving Odie with just any one because I've heard horror stories about dogs getting cuts, scratches, coming home scared and traumatized from other groomers. The staff at Sheldon Road Groomers are very friendly. Val took the time to listen how I wanted Odie to look. She explained what was going to be done and answered all my questions. I asked if she could a Dremel on his nails because the very first groomer I took him to clipped his wick. She said that some dogs don't like the Dremel but would give itry it on Odie. Val also told me to text her a pic of what kind if cut I had in mind so she could get a better idea of what I wanted. When I arrived to get Odie, his cut was PERFECT!! He was his normal happy self, not one cut or scratch on him AND Val was able to use the Dremel on his nails! I so if you're looking for a groomer to bring your fur baby to, look no further. This is the place!! Make your appt right away because they book up fast. I already made an appt to bring our German Shepherd (Bruce) here next week. I have been going here since I adopted my first baby in June of 2010. They really do a great job in grooming my babies. They accessorize the babies really cute, and there is always a theme, whether its Valentines Day, Easter, 4th of July etc along with a treat...at Christmas each baby goes home with a toy as well. I highly recommend this place, I have not had a problem since I started coming. They were also very careful with one of my babies who was dying of cancer. I love this local groomer! I've been to plenty of places including Petco, Pooch & Purr, Laguna Country Groomer, & Bath & Biscuits. I've had okay experiences with the previous places listed. They were either over priced or my three dogs came back with scratches. At the worst, they accidentally cut one of my Maltese's hanging nail and it got infected. Not only did I have to pay for the service, I also had to take him to the vet and he had to wear a cone for a week or so. However, Sheldon groomers are amazing! My pets come home so clean and fluffy with NO scratches or cuts around their belly. The groomers are always so excited to see when a customer walks in the door. That is always pleasant! I definitely recommend this place! The prices are reasonable also! The only bad thing about this place is that it was hard to find because it was hidden with a narrow pathway to the driveway. They listened to me about how I wanted my (three) toy poodles cut, asked questions, and gave recommendations. While I had an appointment, a pressing issue arose that required me to need to pick my dogs up sooner than originally estimated. I told Valerie and Dakota if they could not accommodate the time, that I would ask my parents to pick them up for me. Great place, I tried petco and it gets expensive. I paid $60+ there (whole package), versus $40 here for my pup full grooming service. People are nice and seemed to be patient with my pup as she is super excitable. I got a nice clean cut for her whereas when I went to petco it was a bit ragged. Here they took the time to get the hairs on her face all cleaned up and since it's Christmas season she got a Santa bandana and a free toy! They were even helpful as far as giving me information to help further treat my dogs fleas. Definitely a place I'll go back to and recommend to others. read more
