I go here usually bi-weekly, the staff is about 50/50. Some are very pleasant, while others don't seem eager to help you and want to pawn off work on another team member. The return policy is terrible and I've wasted so much time and gas going back to do an exchange on live turtle food that I gave up. First time visiting Pet Smart as a pet owner, I was often going to Petco but wanted a price comparison. I saw that PetSmart carried some of the same brands with competitive pricing. When I arrived at the store in comparison the online stock, there wasn't much there. In particular the pricing and brands available. Maybe it was a one off day. I will continue to check it out but I do feel Petco has more stock even if the pricing maybe a little higher. read more

I came in to get my dog groomed this morning and there were piles of dog fur around the entire grooming room floor. I never saw anything like this. I asked them to sweep. Instead of them just picking up a broom, I was told they sweep "in between things." This was so unsanitary and disgusting. Do barbers or hair stylists leave hair ALL over the floor for their customers to walk through? I never saw anything like this. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. read more

Brought my dog for a haircut but our usual groomer wasn't in. Needless to say the haircut is so bad I'm embarrassed to bring my dog out until her hair grows back. Waste of money. I had the absolute worst experience at the grooming salon the Bellmore, NY location on 10/5/24. Associate, Lori and the team that worked in the salon on that day were extremely incompetent and severely lacking in customer service skills. I brought my Yorkie puppy in for a haircut, bath, nail cut etc. My puppy had long, straight hair that was NOT matted. I brush him everyday to ensure this; I even brushed him out the morning of his grooming appointment to be certain that there would be no reason for him to be cut low. I specifically asked Lori to "trim him so that he is neat, not low at all, keep his ears long"; "just a light trim to make him look neat". She took him from me, looked at his hair and agreed. Upon my return to pick up my dog, she had already left for the day. My puppy's hair was cut down extremely low, almost all of the hair on his face was gone - she did not even keep his signature "Yorkie head", his ears were cut down very low. My dog had long hair and it was now all gone. Lori did the exact opposite of what I asked. My instructions "went in one ear and came out of the other". My dog's hair was not matted, so she had no reason at all to do this, and if she discovered that he was matted and would need a low cut, this should have been discussed with me beforehand. When I expressed my concerns to the team, they made it very obvious that they did not care. One Associate merely replied with a huge smile on her face: "I'm sorry you feel this way but I'm sure Lori did what you asked her to do and it will grow back". She was more eager to get me to sign the disclosure form - after the service was done poorly - to cover themselves. I am extremely disappointed and angry. I just spent $96 on a service that I was dissatisfied with and will never support PetSmart ever again. I gave this company another chance after my dog was turned away from receiving grooming on Christmas weekend after an appointment was made in 2023, only to be disappointed again. I'll be sure to let all my friends with dogs know to refrain from supporting this company as they do not care about their clients. read more

This review is for the adoption area. I was previously at Last Hope animal shelter in Wantagh and they didn't have what we were looking for. They informed us that they spread the cats out and that pet smart was one of the places to check. So we went and there was a cute little black cat with green eyes that we fell in love with right away... Whoever was running this area (maybe volunteering) is a representation of PetSmart and last hope and that's why I am writing this review. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and quick to get that kitten into my home with full confidence. Last hope organization has their kittens fully taken care of (shots,spay,neuter) before you adopt them so they are healthy and ready to go. It's over one year now since I adopted my baby and he's healthy happy, we're about to get him a little sister now! Thank you to this particular PetSmart for promoting the adoption of kittens as you helped one lucky kitten find a very loving home. read more

Today I took my senior foster dog to Petsmart to be groomed. They took her right in and were so warm and welcoming to her. They were so patient as she needed breaks and treated her with so much kindness. Kristina did a wonderful job on her nails, was gentle and gave her so much love that she really had an enjoyable spa day! We bought a Guinea Pig from this Pet Smart and after a week he developed an abscess on his cheek. We brought him back to PetSmart with the intention of having him treated. They told us that our only option was to "return" him and they would treat his condition at which point we could buy him back. They estimated that treatment might take 2 weeks. My daughter had become pretty attached to him after 10 days or so, so I opted for this. Once we returned him, Pet Smart would have no legal obligation to sell him back to us, so I relied on trust and good faith. To make a long story short, after 4 weeks, the store called us and we got the Guinea Pig back. I would like to mention that we had originally been told the treatments would take 2 weeks and the store was evasive any time I called for information. Apparently, there had been complications with the treatment, but they never reached out to update me on this. I had originally given a one star review as I assumed we were never going to hear from the store again, but updated the review to 3. Also, the store did waive the charge for "re-buying" him after all we had been through. read more

I used to take my pug here to get groomed. I never really cared for when the girls would wash my dog because if I dropped her off for a bath and brush at 1:00 they'd be done by 1:15. There was no way you can clean a pug that fast as well as clip her nails, and clean her ears. Every time I picked her up from there she smelt like they dumped baby powder on her to make her smell a tad better. She would go back to stinking in an hour. Getting your dog groomed here was like throwing money out the window. I now bathe my pug at Petsmart in Levittown and they do an excellent job at bathing my dog and they don't clean her in 15 minutes haha! read more

I had a grooming appointment scheduled for my dog, which I received a few missed calls and voicemails to bring my dog in sooner which I could not. I paid for the deluxe grooming package & I received a phone call only 49 minutes after dropping my dog off that he was ready & they could not complete the service & now I needed to pick him up sooner than they told me before bc they were closing. My appointment was with Alyssa T & I was extremely disappointed in the way the grooming staff handled my appointment. My dog looked the same as when I dropped him off. It was evident that they all wanted to go home early so they called me shortly after I left to say my dog was nipping & couldn't complete the service & did not offer alternatives such as putting a muzzle to complete the service if that really was the case. It was evident to me that my dog's service was rushed & the employees wanted to go home early & resulted in poor service given. I will not be returning to this location. I recommend not taking the last appointment of the day bc they will likely rush to go home early and results will not be satisfactory. read more

If you care about how your dog looks do not take it here. They did an awful job grooming my yorkie. The removed all her fur, she literally looks like a rat or a goat now. So im not having any luck keeping my beta's alive, except for Bob so i needed more fish. I live in an apt and can't have "real" pets. So i saw they had a sale on guppies and got two. 1$ each. I brought my dog in to be groomed. The groomer was awful she shaved my dog after I told them not to. I had to take my dog to the Vet for a skin rash. They never cut her nails. She left with a cut below her eye. They were rude and extremely unprofessional. I got ripped off it cost 123.00 and never did the grooming they were supposed to do. Bought a hamster for my son here. Salesgirl was very knowledgeable about the animal's care and helped us pick one out. There was a cage set that included everything we needed for the hamster. Have had him 3 weeks now and he's really cute and easy to care for. read more

I take my German Shorthair here when he needs a good scrub, he's very high energy but seems to be relaxed when we go there. The prices are amazing. The girl Taylor washed him but said he was skittish with the dryer which is true so instead of torturing him to get it over with she towel dried and let him air dry. He smells amazing and his coat was VERY soft from the oatmeal shampoo. She clipped his nails and cleaned his ears all for just under $40. This is my new spot for grooming for sure read more

Had a grooming appointment set up for DAYS. The day of the appointment after working my weekend around having to drop my Dog off, I get a call and HOUR before the appointment time to tell me that the groomer called in sick and cannot make it, and would have to be rescheduled. BUT not what works for me to fit me in since i am the one who now is inconvenienced, but for TWO days later. I was told they only do ONE bath at a time, and that is why they couldn't get me in.. Sorry this is the weekend, big company- UNACCEPTABLE. Had to take my dog to Petco, last min which isn't that much better BUT they were able to get me in ASAP. read more

She said "we don't have it" and hung up on me before I even had a chance to say anything else. I was in the store not too long ago, and the store was very tight...borderline claustrophobic. I took my golden for a groom and bath today. 45 mins into the groom, they call me to come pick my dog up because they couldn't finish working on him. I come to pick him up they cut half of his fur off to his bare skin. A golden shouldn't be shaved to his thinnest coat. They left the groom unfinished as well as lied about giving him a bath. When I got there to pick him up. One of the groomer went to the back to call the other one out as my dog was just laying down there. When my dog saw me he started barking and the groomer that was working on my dog came out and tapped him on his head yelling shut up. She quickly realized I was standing by the door and then went to run her hand over his head and say ok you are ready to go buddy. Anyone with a pet wouldn't appreciate anybody else hitting their dogs on the head tellimg them to shut up. I truly truly don't recommend this place. The employees in the grooming department in this particular pet smart are incompetent and inconsiderate. I made an appointment for my cavalier King Charles last week and they cancelled. Disappointed beyond comprehension and upset because I've been to this very spot with my two little chihuahuas. Terrible experience with the staff at the grooming salon...not only inexperienced but unprofessional. I brought my Siberian Husky who needed to be de-shedded. When I called prior to the appointment I had clarified with the girl on the phone which breed I had and what specifically I needed done. She said no problem and would take me the same day.....When I arrived she immediately told me the dog was too matted and that there was no way she can "de-shed" him. She said I would have to take him to the Veterinarian so they would sedate him and can then de-shed. I couldn't believe that I was hearing this. Long story short I ended up grabbing a $10 furminator tool and after about an hour my dog was free of matted hair.... I am extremely disappointed how rude and uninterested the staff was, handling the situation at hand. Going forward they will lose my business for not only one but 3 dogs. read more

The groomers are not trained well. I never had a problem with Pet Co or other groomers. In this place they told me they couldn't brush her or do her nails. They couldn't blow her dry either. I've tried them twice because they are near by, but NEVER again. More than disappointed, Management needs to hire qualified dog groomers. read more

*go to Taylor* it would have been 5 stars if I had Taylor first time I go here for the grooming. I came here when they first opened and I wasn't sure if I was going to come back because of the groomer and how the groom came out. But my second time was much better. When I came for my appointment for my Yorkshire, my groomer came over and at first she seemed nice, and I guess you can say she is but I don't know. When she asked me what I wanted for a hair cut I tried explaining I like the head like a Yorkshire, very square and as I was still trying to explain, she cut me off asking what I wanted with the body, so I told her just a little off and she goes on saying "well what is alittle off?" And I told her like very little off, just a trim and she tells me to show her with my fingers, telling me her slight trim might be different then mine. I just couldn't help but think what a production this was turning into. Just was taking to long. And I kind of felt like like how do I not know, I should know these things already. I told her I was going to wait around the store and she says well the grooming takes up to 3 hours, I said that's fine but she kept going on how make sure she doesn't see me, and can't guarantee it will be no less then 3 hours and I said that's fine I just prefer waiting. I just felt it was to much. But then after her groom, it honesty was not good. It was very choppy and uneven in the face, I think the face was the most choppy like around the ears, usually I get her back and everything is blended, I think she just took to much hair off. After about 3-4 weeks I decided to call back and maybe try a different groomer. So when I called the make an appointment, I asked the girl on the phone if she could tell me who I went to last time she said well it was either me or my manager. Then I was shocked to find out it was the salon manger who did the groom the first ! The girl on the phone asked if I wanted to go back to her and as nicely as I could without begging, told her no ! I explained I wasn't happy last time but wanted to give it another try, she apologized for the last time and told me she hopes this will be a better experience. I asked if she had any openings that day and she told me I could come in right away if I wanted. When I came in, it defiantly was a different experience. It wasn't a big production, I explained a very light trim and the Yorkshire head, she asked a few other questions but they were simple. And again I told her I was going to wait and she told me that it's not a problem at all, she did say the same thing about the 3 hours and not to have her see me, but she said it all with a smile. She was a very sweet girl. When I picked her up, best haircut ever! The head was perfect, and even ! So if you want go get a good groom I highly suggest going to Taylor! She is so sweet, she is so accommodating. Everytime I call she always takes me in, and she doesn't take a long time. The most I've waited was maybe an hour. Good job petsmart !!
