Very happy with grooming. My dog, a lhasa apso went in looking a lil crazy. It was totally my fault after not grooming regularly. Well they were fast (about 2 hours) and he looked absolutely perfect--like a designer pup. The groomer was friendly. This was my 3rd time and I will be back. read more

Stores that specializes in pet products are a great thing. This is the only shop of this kind in Bowie. It seems to match the other stores in this chain as far as product selection and quality. I believe you can get most if not all of your pet needs in this shop. read more

From the vet to the groomer to the store, Bowie's Petsmart is awesome. I'm in there at least three times a month for my two dogs and aquarium. The associates are professional and knowledgeable. The techs and vets in Banfield are so caring of the cats and dogs. I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

As I walked into the PetSmart, (store # 0358, 4500 Mitchellville Rd, in Bowie, Md) which I have been a customer for years, I was greeted by a young white male. I guess he was "security" because after our greet he continued to shadow me. I walked on the outside aisle and he walk in the middle but he watched were I was going be looking down the aisle to see what I was going to do. As a black man, and with all that's going on right now I felt very uncomfortable with the situation. I picked up my pets food in the very rear of the store and guess who was right there. He then turn as if he was looking somewhere else and walked back towards the cashier. I paid for my dogs food and left. I didn't want to make a scene, but the whole incident made me very, very uncomfortable. I felt profiled. There were other people walking in and out but he chose me to follow. The other patrons who came in before me who were white weren't followed or given a second look. This will bother me from now on because now I get my dogs groomed there. The groomer's love my dogs. I've never had complaint from them. Now, I will have to look elsewhere for grooming and any other pet related service. It's a damn shame that I, A 20 year retired Army veteran, 4 combat tours, have to fight racism in my own country. Thank you PetSmart! read more

This place is horrible went in a couple days ago to get my dog a birthday item. The staff directed me to where they THOUGHT they were and had me walk all around the store. I asked 4 of the staff and they didn't even know themselves. When I asked if they could check in the back for the specific merchandise she told me "I don't think we have any more" with an attitude. I walk away and the staff told me exactly where they were. Once I get to the birthday section the treats were all expired what a joke! I go back to another staff member and ask her again if she can look in the back to see if they maybe have more pup-pies she forcefully goes back with an attitude. Ends up they did have more in the back. Worst experience ever so check expiration date on items if you do decide to come here. Lazy staff. I'm not asking for hand outs. I'm a paying customer. I did end up purchasing because I wasted so much time and didn't have time to go elsewhere since it was my pups birthday I didn't want to come home empty handed. I will be giving my business to another place hoping to find a better experience. read more

Don't bring your dogs here So I brought my dog here and there was a misunderstanding on my behalf I'll never bring my dog to this place ever again I always choose petco I didn't feel like the extra drive this morning but Immediately I was greeted walking into the grooming salon by Jenna with eye rolls and a very negative body language as if she was irritated or didn't want to work. I called my dogs name and she asked me what was your dogs name I told her she said you can't be seen today I called you you where scheduled over 1 hr ago . I thought I can come in between the hours of 7-10 because I didn't even know the store open at 7am. I arrived at 8 . She was very rude and I said where is your manager the manager was even worse I asked her is there anything she can do we are just 1 hour behind and nobody contacted me this morning she begin to explain very nonchalantly about their scheduling so I contacted pet smart customer service because I don't like the way I was treated and I wouldn't even trust my dog to stay with them in that store . So on that note choose another location where the staff is actually friendly and would like to work . read more

12/30/2017 Petsmart #0358 at 4500 Mitchellville Road, Bowie, MD at 3:03 pm today I went to Petsmart to purchase 50 super worms for our Gecko at a cost of $6.67. The numbers on the bottom of the container read 12/21 which I believed to infer that the container was received on December 21, hopefully of this year. I fed our gecko four of the five living worms and called the store. The pet spokesperson for the department to which I was referred suggested I come back for a refund. However, going back to the store to get a refund was not going to help me feed my pet. Also, as I told the clerk, it was very possible that the other containers were also useless. Most of the containers had no indication of when they were purchased. Dead worms or no worms is not an unusual occurrence at this store. The department is possibly not being properly monitored due to the fact that most of the containers were not dated and the date on my container may have been inaccurate. I was at Petsmart yesterday, 1/03/16 and I have to say I was quite surprised to witness how rough one of the dog groomers was being with the dog she was grooming! I actually told the cashier that I surely hoped they weren't treating the dogs like that, her response was sometimes they can be a "little rough"..Really?? I have often heard of dissatisfied customers and stopped taking my pets there for that reason but to actually witness it for myself...That dog groomer certainly does not belong in there grooming dogs!! Petsmart, I think you need to hire more qualified groomers! Had that been my dog I would have given that groomer a piece of my mind.... read more

I dropped my Pug/Boxer off while in Physical Therapy. When I picked my dog up the transformation was fantastic. He was bathed, shaved, had his nailed grinded and had his teeth brushed. He looked calm and happy. Rebecca did a great job. read more

Groomers at PetSmart are the best. I have brought my Ruby there many times. She is treated like a princess that she is.

Brought 2 Maine Coon cats (extremely large,powerful) in for grooming. Both essentially do NOT like grooming. That being said, the groomer (which I wish I would have caught her name) did a great job with the lion cuts for both. Mind you, sedation was recommended by several other locations, but she did a great job and we are extremely happy. read more

I rarely write reviews for anything unless I feel strongly enough to take the time. I would be remiss if I let this opportunity go by. In short, Rebecca S. is an outstanding groomer! I just love her! She listens to me and exactly what I want in grooming our dog, Arctic. It is no surprise that this is a very difficult task, as she is an American Eskimo and has a large mane, and very long white hair. As many years as I have been having Arctic groomed, no one has ever been able to groom her while still maintaining the look of the breed, until I met Rebecca. She is awesome! Rebecca is kind and compassionate when it come to my dog. I realize she is getting older and has issues that could be hard to manage, yet Rebecca takes the time to make sure Arctic is okay, and she always comes home looking and feeling amazing! I was quite impressed by the quality of costumer service and the wonderful condition that this store has to offer. Before even entering the store I made a phone call in the day inquiring if I could get just 3-4 worms for a science experiment that I was going to be completing with my 2nd grade students and the employee on the other end could not have been any more accomodating. I am usually one to go to Petco, but after seeing the quality of this store my thoughts on which pet supply retailer to visit may have changed. The employee I met with, Danielle, sincerely cared about the quality of service the customers were receiving, as well as, the quality of care the animals were receiving. I have never seen such cleaner or beautiful fishtanks in a pet store, with absolutely none, zero, zilch dead fish pathetically floating at the stops of the tanks. Upon my arrival to the store the associate was carefully placing the reptiles into new aquariums because some needed to be replaced. She was ensuring that they were comfortable in their new habitats and well taken care of. I'm not one to buy pets from pets stores, but they just might change my thoughts at this PetSmart. read more

Beware Pet Owners! The Grooming Salon service is not very knowledgeable and experienced with providing a decent haircut to match the dog's breed. I made an appointment and was just told I was not welcome because I complained about the service. The last service done for my maltese was horrible, she was uneven all over with areas that almost showed her skin. This was the 1st refund I requested over the 3+ years (average) I have been going. So, I book another appointment to only be told when I arrive that my dog is not scheduled and then only after asking more questions..... they say my pet is not welcome b/c no one is willing to service my pet. So beware, when you are giving them pointers about your dog's haircut, or mentioning that last time the hair was too short b/c it showed her pink skin!, or please don't cut her face short, or keep her ears long or your dog looks like a stranger when you pick up -- they are adding comments in the system. Interesting enough, this comes after I had been refunded. Their so called "100% satisfaction guarantee" comes with a price and later punishment for your pet because the groomers lack a basic skill level. I don't appreciate being inconvenienced either, if that was the case, why book an appointment in the first place, now my pet is in need of a haircut around the holidays when other places are now booked up.
