I am giving 2 stars for the 2 previous visits. I have taken my Yorkie Pooh to this location probably 4 times. However, this last visit was the last visit. I give up 3-4 hours each time I take my dog to be groomed & that ridiculous!! I return early only to find the groomers doing more TALKING than GROOMING!! I just realized they do not value the dog owners' time! I cannot see. Y self spending g more time at the groomers for my dog than for myself going to an appointment for my hair! Customer service, courtesy, attention to detail are all lacking at this location. While the store has a decent stock of pet needs and merchandise, the employees are not the friendliest or helpful, seemed like they were just there to scan items (twice!). I was shocked with the total amount during checkout and while the first employee removed the first item after I requested to review the order, the second employee also had an attitude when I noticed that they scanned another item twice. Be careful making purchases here and listen to the ring/amount of times an item gets rung up. read more

It gets super busy in here, and there isn't much crowd control. Maybe they're short on staff because nobody opened up another line when the one woman had about ten people in hers. I got a drive up order and sat in the car for 20 min. My order than stated that it was picked up, so I had to go inside and see what was going on. I was a long standing customer at the Grooming Salon. It seems no matter how hard I tried to get an appointment after COVID it became impossible. Sadly I will be feeling guilty for leaving my 5 month old puppy in the care of this location. Rachel was the manager on duty and she was very kind to not charge me for the services today and also guaranteed me that today's groomer (Cindy) will not be grooming my pup on his next visit. I do appreciate what she did and she said she would talk to the groomer about her dismissive behavior to my concerns and questions about what happened to leave all of this redness on my pup. The groomer never apologized or spoke. She just looked at my pup briefly and walked away right in front of the manager Rachel. How completely unpromising that?! These are our loved pets and we care for them. We are placing them in the hands of strangers praying that they are kind to them. I feel horrible for leaving my puppy there. All night tonight he has been compulsively licking his private area and scratching his behind his ears. I called his vet twice today. Once in the store when I picked him up and then at home when I was able to see the complete areas of swelling and razor scratches. I cannot imagine how he felt being there and having small cuts (razor blade nics) on his privates. He's a boy and no he isn't neutered yet. So horribly sad to think this woman was placed in a store to care for other peoples pets. I had to cancel my next appointment there. I'm going somewhere else but the more I talked about this and my family and friends saw my sweet boy they encouraged me to share this. Please be mindful of taking your pets to this location of PetSmart at Catonsville in the shopping center of the Krispy Kreme and the 5BELOW. I can't bash all the groomers so I'm not. I can only speak to the unprofessional woman who worked with my puppy. I'll never go back. read more

Came here to add fish to my already established tank. The staff were quite helpful and aided me with selecting the perfect tank mates. They have a great selection of dog toys and clothing. Needless to say, I left with more than just fish. Will definitely be back. read more

Reptile enclosures were absolutely disgusting. The bearded dragon's habitat was absolutely covered in feces, which creates a higher risk for salmonella not only for the animal but the employees as well. The crested geckos rapashy formula was at least 4 days old, it was nearly dried up and discolored. Some enclosures lacked proper humidity as well. While you can 'technically' cohabitate longtailed lizards and anoles, the way they all were huddled trying to share a single basking spot is absolutely asking for trouble. Anoles can definitely be aggressive towards longtailed lizards expecially when forced to compete for resources, resulting in broken/missing limbs. An empty enclosure was available for the anoles themselves but instead around 6-7or so reptiles were shoved into a box at maximum 12 inches long. When I mentioned this to the employees she mentioned that they dont always clean the cage every week. Every week??? Young reptile enclosures should be spot cleaned at minimum every other day, its really not that difficult to remove a couple of poops off of repti carpet. At maximum it should take a employee 10-5 minutes to remove all the feces and give the animals fresh water every day. Whoever is in charge of managing animal wellfaire at this petsmart needs to do better. read more

This review is specifically for grooming. More often than not, I forget that PetSmart offers this service. I mean I shouldn't because they do a great job. Appointments can be booked in various manners, from the telephone, in person, and online, where you are able to select a variable of time slots and any groomer that you prefer. You can also just walk in. They also offer discounts (yes) on services and specials based on the time of day. Most of this info can be found on their website. Couple that with using your savings card and a winner is to be had. The staff seem to care about our furry friends, and take pride in what they do. Duchie left looking beautified. I just purchase pet food at this location. This review is of what I just witnessed while checking out. I heard a loud yelp coming from the grooming room and turned to see what was going on. The "red-headed" groomer was attempting to grind or whatever a small white dog's nails. Apparently the dog was not comfortable and rather than work with the dog, she twisted his leg at a horrible angle trying to get the dog to hold still. This only made the poor dog cry out all over again. There was no one around but other groomers who did paid no attention and the cashier I had was too busy sniffing back snot to care. Thankfully she was done with the dog but I would never bring my pet here and will warn pet owners I know. You'd think she'd be more caring, especially as any pet owner can watch her through the glass!!! read more

One star only because "no" stars is not an option. I have a VERY gentle Great Pyrenees. He'S 11 so he has been groomed a lot. Never had any problem. A year ago when I picked him up at Petsmart after a bath they said they weren't able to clip his nails (always included). Never a problem before or since elsewhere. Apparently just required more time than they were interested in devoting to my dog, despite the fact that I had paid for it. Grrr! Decided to give them another try today. Called; indicated his coat had several mats; they said no problem and made the appointment. Drove the 30 minutes to the store only to be told they couldn't bathe him without a (much more expensive) hair cut, and I'd need to make another appointment. It's Petsmart "POLICY", I. E. Rip you off if at all possible. Actually happened before at the Towson, MD Petsmart too! They insist it's bad for the dog to bathe with mats--but my vet bathes him after each boarding stay, mats and all! I'm guessing the vet has a pretty good idea re what might be "bad" for my dog and certainly wouldn't do it! So the"policy" is just a Petsmart money maker. Every time I go here I Ieave pretty happy. They have great prices and knowledgable staff. I always find the food I need, the treats the pup wants, and the outfits she doesn't! I love the Martha Stewart collection and it's almost always on sale. I also like checking out the kittens and other animals in the store. I am a huge fan of grooming for my puppy, however this is supply store, however, I am so confused about how they sell fish tanks but when the accessories fail on them they don't sell them in the store you have to order them from the company, this is stupid, after like three trips and talking to the children workers in the store, that aren't knowledgeable at all. Rude, unprofessional, unorganized, accusatory; The grooming staff are inept in dealing with large dogs. They lack any communication skills and provided no resolution or alternatives for me; completely unhelpful. The grooming employees seemed like they never recieved customer training nor did they profess professionalism. Their working knowledge on dogs and dealing with customers was tenuous, at best. Avoid this place if you want to be treated with dignity and respect. If they are harassing you to your face, what do you think they will be doing to your dog when you leave? read more

When I got a puppy, I wanted to sign her up immediately for some training classes. We totally lucked out that Petsmart could fit us in that very next week for their beginner puppy class. Our teacher was Sam, and I would 100% recommend any class that she teaches. I took my dog here to be groomed he was matted in some places. The said they would cut his hair and de-matte him. Ok fine, when I came to pick my dog up he appeared happy and fine. I noticed later that evening my hyper Bichon was starting to not move around as much. I thought maybe he was sore. By the next evening he couldn't walk. The groomer cut his little peanut sack so whenever he went to stand he would sit down immediately. I called Pet Smart they told me with no empathy or sympathy, if I take him to the vet they would pay the bill, like this happens all the time. I now groom my dog myself and I do NOT recommend anyone take their pet here. My dog was in pain for an entire week before he was back to himself. read more

This review is about the grooming service. When I brought my terrier there, her coat of fur was very untamed. I wanted them to cut some of it off. When I got her back, she looked (how can I describe this) like a small rodent. They cut wayyy too much off of her for my comfort. I now take my dog to another pet grooming place. I used to take my pet to this location ever since I got her for about 2 years. I always had a good service for my dog until the last time I went, the lady who was supposed to take my dog was more interested in the gossip they had going on. She was ignoring me when I got there, then she came to pull my dog to the back room instead of trying to pet her first or at least to try be a little nice. 20 minutes after I left they called to say that my dog tried to bite her and that my dog was being aggressive, of course my dog was. The lady was RUDE! Then they told me that my dog was not allowed back and to find another grooming place. Not like I was going back anyways!! My poor dog was scared as hell when I picked her up, she was shaking and crying in the gate. I had to go half inside the gate to bring her out, I believe they hit her because she was really scared when she saw the groomer. WILL NEVER BE BACK!! read more

But instead, We were approached 5 times by 2 staff members and was constantly trying to push us to join their dog training, giving us a calling card and a flyer that we never asked for. Dog trainer was promoting herself so much. We basically were not able to browse around the store peacefully 'coz we got so pissed of how the staff was harassing us. I wish I could give less than "0" stars. I am a very very dissatisfied customer of the Pet Smart in Catonsville,Md 21228. I took my rescue pet "Foxy",in for grooming, on Sunday, January 27, 2019,after only having her for two weeks. She was groomed by D'Von. Who I met that day. I asked him how long it would take and he told me about 3hrs. More than 5 hrs later, I had not heard from them so I decided to call. When I called, D'Von answered the phone, stumbling over his words, telling me that he was just about to call me. When I picked her up, she seemed a little lethargic, but I chalked that up to her having a new experience. This was not the case. She peed in the car on the way home, and when she got home, she kept urinating excessively,and drinking excessively, but would hardly eat. She started vomiting a lot, and had bad diarrhea. I didn't understand this because she was fine when I took her in. The next day(Monday), she seem to be getting worse, so I called Pet Smart and spoke to Rachel- the salon manager who told me to go ahead and take her to the ER, and Pet Smart would reimburse me.And she also said that I could wait to bring her in to see their vets, but I said I couldn't wait. I took her in, they treated her and sent her home with meds. The next day (Tuesday)she was even worse so I took her back to the ER. After hours of working on her. It was nothing that they could do for her. She had to be euthanized. It was found that she had gotten into something toxic. Which caused acidosis. When I went to Pet Smart on Wednesday with all my bills and her information. Rachel- the salon manager and William- the store manager, scurried out of earshot to talk about something. When she came back, she told me that the information needed to be sent to the corporate office. The next day(Wednesday), William- the store manager called me with a half- hearted apology, telling me basically that there was nothing that they could do. Asking me for all the information that I had given to Rachel the day before, in his presence. After going back and forth with him, he suggested that I could have a necropsy done,that Pet Smart would pay for. When I called the ER vet, they said that it would be a complicated situation, she would have to be shipped to Pennsylvania, so forth and etc. She had suffered enough so I didn't want to do that. Had my cockerpoo, Lady, groomed here today for the 1st time. She's has a lot of energy and doesn't sit still for very long. They recommended an early morning appointment so I dropped her off at 7am. Her groomer's name was Lauren and she did an EXCELLENT job grooming Lady. She even finished her with long beautiful lashes. I didn't get a chance to tip Lauren but I'll definitely stop by before the weekend. I was very very pleased with their patience with my dog. I'll be returning! read more

Very disappointed with this store. On the night before my appointment for two dogs they call to move the appoint back an hour or more because someone else made an appointment (after me) for an express service grooming. I had to cancel both my dogs because I didn't want one waiting for over an hour before he could be worked on. Very angry about this because here I am now trying to make an appointment for Christmas Eve the night before which is impossible. I had these appointments set up over a week ago! Another should not have been scheduled if it was a problem with their previously made appointments. On top of this I was never even told about express grooming as an option. It's not listed on their site or pamphlet and nothing was said. That would be nice to know with an 11 year old with diabetes and a 14/15 year old that's blind! Very disgusted with petsmart for their lack of professionalism here. This would have been my second appointment with them. Now there will never be another appointment. read more
