Great location for me! Only about a 5 minute drive to get our kitty food, treats, litter, and accessories! They have great sales on tons of items and you should definitely consider signing up PetSmart for their free point system card! We've saved hundreds over the years! We also purchase crickets and reptile accessories for our geckos! They have a variety of foods for all types of animals. I noticed while checking out that they are currently offering a great discount for those who have dogs with "show dog" type haircuts. I'm thinking maybe Yorkies, poodles maybe? Anyhow, they also do pet adoption events that work with local pet shelters! Fun fact! Every time I come here I keep reminding myself they have THE BEST hand gel as you walk in. I'm gonna leave two stars one because I want to give the workers the benefit of the doubt because I'm sure this is not their fault and the other because their selection of items was pretty good. The state of the fish in the back of the store was really shocking. I'm getting into the aquarium hobby right now and went last night in hopes of scoping out some corys and tetras for a community tank I'm hoping on expanding. Last night I went in and there were signs all over the place saying the fish sales were suspended, and I went and looked at the tanks and they were shockingly gross. There was mold growing in some of the wet/dry tanks, fungi and disease growing in the water and fish were laying dead in many of the tanks. There wasn't anyone available to ask what was going on, but it was concerning to see the live fish being hosted in the same tanks as the fungus and the dead fish. I was very disappointed with PetSmart for allowing live fish to sit there and die on display. Really sad read more

Excellent groomer, my poodles and Doodle go there regularly. Highly recommend their grooming service.

The fish tanks here are in such bad condition. The tiger chiclids have ich so bad they're dying as I looked at them just laying on the bottom spasming. There was a tank full of dead fish on display and another tank that had two fish dead that had to have been dead for awhile as they had sunk to the bottom and one had no eyes which takes awhile considering most fish float as they die and don't decompose right away. There was signs of "system treatment in progress" but no one was back here and obviously neglect of the tanks as I mentioned it is not right away that a fish will sink to the bottom or the whole school of fish just die. So clearly not being monitored properly for "treatment". read more

Review this store sucks and should be closed forever! Employees are rude and so is the assistant manager. Groomers are very rude; they turn heads after they make an appointment, and I come in from Greene County, then call the manager back to tell me they can not take my dog to groom. Why because I made a complaint. That is a lie. The last complaint I made was why they didn't want to groom him. That is not a good reason for me. They had a girl, her name was Diane, and she was great! I only take my dog to be groomed 4 times a year, and the place is convenient. The humans that work here are really nice! The prices are competitive and the supplies are great! My only gripe is Recently is the stench within the store has been unbearable! The smell reminds me of raw sewage. It may have nothing to do with the store and it could just be the location and the building? Apart from this slight drawback I really enjoy going to Petsmart. I usually order from Chewy.com but when I don't Petsmart is where I go! The new Guinea pigs they have are SO adorable! They are all very well taken care of . Their fur coats are beautiful and eyes are bright. I would love to buy at few of these healthy little cuties! There are so many nice staff members I wish I could remember all their names. I had a very speedy checkout but the customer service had me a little turned off. I went in for a simple dog bowl for a new puppy. When I finally found the aisle that had the dog bowls I was approached by a man who never gave me a name because his tag was covered the entire time. He asked me if I needed help when I said no I found what I was looking for he continued to walk with me I also work in customer service typically when a customer says no they are fine it's normal to leave them alone after that and just say "well my name is *blank* let me know if you need anything". He asked how big my dog was when I was picking up the bowls when I said she is just puppy and she is a mix he did say well she will get bigger so you may want another bowl. When I said well she is just puppy and we don't know how big she will get he continued to pressure the bigger bowls. I finally just picked up a bigger bowl thinking he would leave. I didn't go in to spend $40 hence why I was picking up the bowls that were like $9 he kept pushing the $14.99 bowls and the coupon book after I told him she has a vet appointment tomorrow my fiancé is picking up the book. I have rescued two dogs before I know all about the petsmart coupon book. It's one thing to let me know what's going on in the store but once I say no I don't need help or no thank you or you can hear in my voice that I'm just trying to come in for what I wanted and leave please be respectful and walk away. When I finally got to the register he put the coupon book in my hands which at this point he didn't get me to buy it by respectful customer service he annoyed me into it. Once close enough to me his breath smelled as if he had snuck over to the ABC STORE next door for a quick drink. You may say he was just doing his job but like I said I was annoyed into spending $40 not actually educated and interested in spending $40. My little cocker spaniel Mochi groomed here and we had couple groomers handle her, until we found Tamela. She has a great attitude and great customer service. One day i picked up Mochi and other staff didn't do a good job of drying Mochi. Tamela did great handling the issue. We go to this PetSmart not only for grooming Mochi but also obedience class. Staffs are friendly and most the groomers and couple cashiers know Mochi. It makes Mochi feels at home every time we visit the store coz everyone calls her name. I highly recommend Tamela for groomers, and Julie for the obedience class. read more

This PetSmart is conveniently located in the Wegman shopping center. Plenty of parking and plenty of pet supplies. I first came here when I was looking to buy fancy rats as a pet. The staff member who helped me was super nice and super knowledgeable. He knew absolutely everything about rats and helped us find the proper cage, bedding, toys, and food for the rats. He was also very patient with us, let us play with the rats, and explained to us how to take care of them. The shop itself has just about everything you need for pets. I was able to find all the supplies I needed for my pet rats. They also have a great selection of small animals for sale and fish. Not only is the customer service here superb, but customer service over the phone is fantastic, too! I had questions about my rats and called PetSmart. The staff member who answered was again very patient and knowledgeable. Overall, I'm very happy with my experience at PetSmart. There are lots of good supplies here for a reasonable price. Most importantly, the customer service was excellent! Seriously, everyone who works here deserves a raise just for their awesomeness. read more

I'm really impressed with the grooming services at this Pet Smart. I've had several groomers tell me my Great Dane is too high strung for them to clip her nails. The groomers at the Charlottesville Pet Smart have clipped her nails twice with seemingly no problems. She is in and out in less than 15 minutes for $10 and a tip! read more

I found what I needed easily here. The cashier was polite, quick and kind. I always love being surrounded by animal lovers here and PetSmart is much more affordable than PetCo. The aisles are much smaller in this location than in other PetSmart locations. It smelt atrocious when I visited yesterday and that wasn't just the entrance (I gave them the benefit of the doubt in case a dog did it's business right in the front door). That was the whole store that stunk bad. Prices are as expected. If you have their VIP card, some things are a bit cheaper. Overall good place. read more

I have struggled with bathing my pup for a while, because he sheds so bad, just the clean up takes FOREVER. So, I finally decided to pay someone. And if it wasn't by far the best decision I've ever made for the two of us! He saw a couple different people at first, but over the last year we only request Debbie. Because we both now know her and he goes to her no problem. Their scheduling is awesome, they always call when they have openings available. Wanted to take my dog in for a nail trim when they reopened. I called and they said they were starting walk-ins for nail trims the next week and to just call from curbside. I waited two more weeks and went by. Called from outside and no one answered. Went inside and was told that I had to make an appointment. I said I had called and been told to drop in, and that there is no way to make an appt for a nail trim online (only larger grooming services). They shrugged. I left. read more

The prices in this store are too high. Also, the grooming salon is a gamble. I have had mostly positive experiences with them. But the last time I took my Yorkie for a simple puppy cut, they cut his leg and also scraped off some of the skin on his little gonads. I was wondering why if was taking so long for him to get his haircut. Almost 4 hours. And I took a vacant appointment. The worst of it--they never told me what happened. I discovered it myself and called them. The manager was nice and offered me to take him to my vet and she would pay for it. She reimbursed me for the cut. A little ointment got him healed. I told the Manager that it really bothered me that no one ever said a word to me about it. The other Petsmart is not much better, I took my dog there for a simple puppy cut and when I picked him up, he looked like someone had run over him with a lawn mower! Uneven, shaggy looking cuts, with dips almost to the skin. I showed the Manager what he looked like. Her eyes got big and then she gave me my money back and took my dog to the most skilled person there who fixed at best she could. I couldn't take my dog out for a month until his hair grew back in. My fancy guppy fish buying experience. Fins fray, color goes away, fish literally shows signs of wasting away within weeks of having it. I was told by a salesman that I clearly was killing the fish with my inexperience with water parameters. I'm pretty neurotic about testing my water. It was all within healthy range for guppies. He suggested that I buy Melafix and Pimafix, and that they use these all the time in their tanks to keep them healthy. I told him I noticed these long strings hanging from them that looked like red worms. He assured me that I was the problem and to get Melafix/Pimafix. I've just discovered what was wrong with all of my fish. Camallanus Worms! They are fairly deadly to fish, because you don't know they are sick until they full blown infected and then the fish can't always pass the worms even if they die. I wormed the last batch with levamisole and out came the worms. It has made my fish experience a very frustrating one and I have been blaming myself the whole time. Very upsetting. I appreciate the fish guarantee, but I'd appreciate a healthy fish more to begin with. Sadly, my fish did not make it :( You have to start all over, throw everything away. These worms are horrible. I'm sure you don't even know you have them as it's hard to tell until the infestation is so severe, Most likely all of your fish have it, because it's very hard to get rid of. I will not be buying anymore fish from you.:( read more
