For years the Chesterfield PetSmart fish aquariums were poorly kept and fish were sickly. I bought only food and filters... Then in June 2025, PetSmart removed and replaced all the tanks with a modern tank and filteration system. The fish selection was good. Fish were healthy. I returned to the Chesterfield store September 2025 and the new tanks are full of algae, fish are upside down, lights were off, fully neglected. Workers standing around or bouncing dog toys. Management wasted thousands on dollars here. read more

I have been taking my two cockapoos to Melinda R every couple months for the last year or so. They are rescues so they're very scared and she is so good with them. Melinda gives them a great haircut and based on their demeanor when I pick them up, she treats them very well. She's a keeper. read more

I was under time pressure and needed to get the Pugs cleaned up in a flash. Petsmart is close and I've used another location's grooming services in the past. Aaron, super nice groomer/customer service rep got me in without a hitch. When I arrived Lucy and Bam had spots waiting for them. The groomers were so welcoming and informative. I was specific about them paying close attention to their ears and wrinkles which they assured would be no problem. I was advised my Pugs would be ready in 2-3 hours. Aaron called within 2.5 hours and stated my babies would be ready in 15 minutes. Perfect, just enough travel time. When I walked in my Pugs were nice & clean. The groomers all said goodbye to Lucy & Bam, sent us off with a raving progress report and coupons for our next visit. I could tell my babies were excited to go home but sad to leave this wonderful crew. They can't wait to get back in the Petsmart bathtub. The only issue I had was that the price I was quoted on the phone turned out to be $3 more per Pug. So instead of $18.99, my dogs were $21.99 each. No biggie just caught me off guard. Be aware prices are increased due to weekend rates. read more

I have never used a harness for my cat and decided to purchase my first one while at the store. HOWEVER, I had no idea how properly to put it on my cat. I approached the young man working the cash register and told him I had an embarrassing question and could he tell me how to use the harness. He not only explained the proper technique to me, he got a small stuffed animal and attached the harness to it to provide me a visual demonstration. He was so very thoughtful and helpful. I did not get his name, but I do want to thank him for going "above and beyond" with customer service. read more

DO NOT let this location groom your pet. We have been taking my west highland white terrier here for over 10 years and been very satisfied with the simple, westie cut. We dropped my 13-year-old westie off today for his routine cut and he came back traumatized and completely patchy shaven down to his skin- his face, everything. They only left a semi bushy tail. Usually, if he has any matting, we receive a call saying some spots may be shorter than others, but no one has ever shaved everything off out of sheer laziness...Besides the fact that my dog looks awful, I am sick to my stomach about the pain he must have suffered while getting this cut. Haley (who will now be his permanent groomer), took such good care of him and made him so handsome! She chalked his fur and gave him a bow at my request, and went above and beyond my expectations. This place is disgusting. Every time we come here we see multiple dead animals that looks like they've been lying there for multiple days/ weeks. It's pretty sad seeing all this happen. If you're going to be running this kind of store, do it right. We mention it to the employees each time we come in and nothing seems to change. Sad. read more

The staff clearly need more training on how to care for the bettas. I was in there to buy one September 1, and very few cups contained a living healthy fish. The cups contained fish barely alive but most were already dead. One had so much fungus and decay that it was barely recognizable as a fish. I told the staff and they told me they just hadn't made it back there in awhile. This is neglect plain and simple. I did buy a veiltail who still had some life in him and he is doing very well but the staff needs to step up their game and remember these fish are living in their own filth and they need to do better to keep them clean. read more

Another desparate grooming situation. Took all three dogs to my regular groomer for their appointment this past Monday to find the business CLOSED DOWN. Dear me. Every December I give this groomer a schedule for the upcoming year, so we have all appointments on the books. And I get desired grooming days during the hectic holiday seasons!! Interestingly, Monday evening Petsmart called saying it had been 8 weeks since Cali Marie and Jacob Mitchell had been there for grooming, and did I want to set another appointment. Holy COW!! I just said I'd look at my calendar and call them back. Timing is everything! With my groomer out of business and all three dogs needing a major spiff, I called Wednesday, got a 6 p.m. appointment with the SAME groomer from Cali and Jake's first appointment. LOVE LOVE LOVE this: in the phone call, she mentioned that Cali and Jake's rabies had expired in mid-May and would I please bring in new documentation. And, of course, for Thomas Raymond, please bring his rabies documentation. Fabulous record-keeping for the safety of all!!! So we all went. And we came home near 9 p.m. Man, do these guys look good!! And smell sooooo fresh!! As we were walking out, another store patron was right beside us. She said, "So here are these beautiful all-white Westies and the other black dog." I said, "Yes, he's an Affenpinscher." Nothing. "Our rescue dog." She replied, "Oh, that's what you call it now." Well, no, he's an Affenpinscher. read more

Had a great experience here tonight. Took Teen 2 and two of her friends in to buy supplies for her guinea pig; nothing special there. They had everything we needed. The cool part was that they were cleaning and feeding the reptiles while we were there, and the guy took the time to let the girls hold and ask questions about some of the little critters. They talked about their camp and the animals they have there, and he told them some interesting facts about the Pet Smart reptile offerings. I held a bearded dragon, and was surprised that they are cuddly little reptiles. They didn't try to get away and one just hung out on my shoulder for a while. Then i held a turtle that will live for 50 years - talk about a commitment! It pooped on me. They can hold A LOT! Hit the bathroom to wash my hands and it was pretty much time to go after that. read more

I don't know how many times we have told the groomers that our dog doesn't like the dryer. However, the continued to use it on him. After five or six times going, he finally got upset and supposedly was "aggressive." This is the most chilled dog you will ever meet! I might get "aggressive" too if I communicated the same thing 5-6 times. He never came back well brushed and still had matting. We would go here to save a couple bucks, but, so not worth the couple of bucks if they are going to traumatize your dog! read more

This store is awful!!! The staff is rude and they obviously don't take care of the animals. Many dead/dying or unhealthy fish left in tanks. I went to grooming room and the one groomer was wrestling very aggressively with a pug trying to get a harness on it for grooming. It was obvious the dog was upset and the person did nothing to try to calm him down. The manager was clueless. I would not let them do anything with my dog. read more

Aly who was there was fantastic! But now she's gone and my two Westies have gotten ear infections the last two times we have been due to water. They shave them leaving only a bushy tail. I feel like I should go up there with my vet bills and make them compensate me. We will be trying somewhere different after 7 years. read more

This is probably my favorite PetsMart. Always clean and items are easy to find. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and always smiling, even though I witnessed them having to deal with a very irate and obviously miserable customer, upset about a kitty litter box. LOL (some people just need to get a life). Some people get their thrills just leaving one star reviews for places and don't know anything about how a business is ran. Most businesses know each and every one of their customers and can greet them by name. That's a good business. This store always greets me and my pit bulls with smiles and remembers all of our names. They love all animals and don't discriminate. And that's the way it should be. read more

Well, I don't shop here often. I was looking for a basket muzzle for my Staffy at home, and they had a few to try. None fit, and they didn't complain at all when I had to return them. Petsmart stores always seem so cluttered and crowded to me when it comes to how the store is laid out. I will say that this one isn't as bad. I actually came here because Wal-Mart either has serious inventory issues or they've simply stopped carrying certain products. One of them being Fresh Step cat litter that is unscented. There is no compromising with that since the cat is so picky about the litter we use. Luckily, Petsmart still carries it and had it in stock at a competitive price. read more

While the grooming service here is terrible (I have since switched groomers), the staff is very friendly and helpful. Many of them really love pets and animals, and treat my little pooch with kindness. If I have an inquiries they will be happy to answer them. Guys, these big box pet companies are mostly all the same...however, I will say the layout of the place makes more sense than Petco. Just seems more intuitive.
