Lazy and non friendly Groomers. This was our third time using Petsmarts (Chico, Ca) grooming services. We were happy with the service the first two times and booked with Jalynn. Unfortunately Jalynn doesn't work there anymore so we booked with Karina. AVOID KARINA! She isn't a thorough groomer. Our husky came back with fur flying all over the place and she is still shedding like crazy. This is after we paid extra for a Furminator treatment. Which they say gets rid of 90% of shedding. Either that's not true or Karina didn't, put in any effort to do her job correctly. Plus her paw fur wasn't trimmed, which was supposed to be included. If you want sub par service and to be treated like an inconvenience then go here. No wonder a nice customer passed us a note indicating Petsmart has open grooming lawsuits (not safe for your pets) and there were better groomers locally. Needless to say we will be going somewhere else for grooming next time. read more

As a customer I'm appalled and disgusted by the attitude and behavior of the staff. Specifically the closing team on 9/19/2020. I arrived at the store to purchase some food for my cat. I was there about 5 minutes before closing. The automatic door was turned off. The staff could see me at the door a full 5 minutes before they were closed but pretended I was not there. I knocked on the door for a few minutes. Even tried to call the store. They ignored me. Why are they trying to close early? Why didn't they want another customer to come in and buy something? This is a business right? Wondering if it was actually locked I half heartedly tried to pull the door open. It was unlocked. In an "oh shit" moment an employee rushed over to tell me they were closed. Since it still was not yet 9pm I told him I should at least be able to buy the catfood I came for since they're supposed to be open for another 2 minutes and then he says "ok just 2 minutes" like he's doing me some big favor. Can't believe these guys. Do they not want to sell catfood and pet supplies? Despite the BS and hoops I had to jump through to become a customer and make a purchase I still got out of there at 9pm but I won't be returning to this store again because this experience sucked and made me feel awful. read more

Poor service. I waited at the aquarium and pets asle for over 10 min and nobody came to help nor was there anyone there. This is a common occurance here, because I unfortunately get ignored everytime I come in. I looked around and eventually found 2 associates but they were talking to each other in the asle so i just decided to wait since I didnt want to interrupt what they were doing. I decided that I didnt want to play hide and seek with the employees so I just left. All the animals seem to be in good condition anyway. Probably will only come back for supplies if I cant go anywhere else. read more

This review is purely for my experience at the GROOMING SALON 1/21/2022 at 10am (picked up at 2pm). At drop off I had asked for tips and tricks to help with getting out mats on my long hair dog (he is a rescue I've had 3 months and am still learning) and instead was given a rude response by one of the ladies (NOT Payton or Danielle, these two girls were kind) who stated my dogs mats were "horrible" and I would "need to pay $40 an hour more just to brush out the knots". I informed her I was short on money and asked for an alternative when she rudely stated i would need to get him trimmed. Eventually I agreed when I was informed it would only be no more than an inch. Before leaving the lady made a snide comment to my dog (not even to me), saying something along the lines of "hopefully you do well (my dogs name) because you've been stressful before". Now this would be my third time coming to them and not once did they ever mention anything about his behavior while grooming, just happily took my money and pushed me away without any comments or notes. After leaving the drop off I instantly got hit with regret, but decided to keep him there to help him find relief from these "horrible mats" he had. Four hours later I get the call: "we have a couple things to discuss, we were unable to bathe your dog, you won't be paying for this appointment, we rescheduled him for next week" (Paraphrased and shortened). I get there and I couldn't even recognize my own dog. He was shaved down to his skin, had knicks on his back, his nub (he has no tail) and on his stomach. The shave was uneven and parts of him weren't even touched. There was zero communication from anyone at the salon during the four hours he was there... I would have never agreed to shave him bare or have him go through that torture. Who knows how they treated him. After crying the whole way home, my partner saw our dog and was appalled. Knowing I was too nice to confront anyone, she called and spoke to the store manager. The store manager was amazing and went above and beyond to help amend the situation. All in all I will never trust my dog at this GROOMING SALON again. The name of the groomer on the appointment online was Shannon, but I have no idea who actually took care of my dog cause I initially scheduled with Payton and Danielle was the one who took my dog back/returned him. Otherwise, my experiences with the trainer have been phenomenal. The cashier staff is always polite. And the store manager was very accommodating. read more

The store and salon was closed and I was a bit bummed as I wanted to get my dog's grooming appt made and done with. However, I saw the 800 number and gave it a call and lo and behold they answered and helped me book an appt for the following Monday!! It was easy, pleasant and great customer service!! They even asked if I wanted them to book my pet's next appt. I declined this time but will totally do it the next time... Totally impressed!! read more

I wasn't happy with the pet carrier I purchased so I decided to return it. When I gave my item and receipt to the cashier she told me she couldn't give a refund unless I have the bank card that I used so funds could be credited back to my bank. I didn't have the card with me and realized I had lost it. It's a Chase debit card. I'd have to cancel that n get a new card...right? I called petmart and asked how I can get my refund? I was told again that without that card, I can get store credit. Hmmmm. So, I read the back of my receipt about their return policy. Right there on the back of their own receipt says if a purchase was made with a debit card, the refund will be cash back. Not a store credit. I go back to the store the next day said I wanted to return the item. Again she says if you don't have the card you used to purchase item , she can't do a refund. Get this...the cash register won't allow that. I pointed out the policy on the back of the receipt and she still says she can't do a refund and calls for the manager. Before he even started giving me the same bullshit I cut him off and pointed out their return policy. That's when the big miracle happened, the cash register suddenly was able to do a cash refund. Funny how things like that happen. I am so against doing business with greedy companies. This company is added to my do not enter list. read more

First off After one bad experience at Chico PetSmart groomer my dog has been a little weary about getting a haircut. The girl rushed him through the process and was not gentle at all. When i went back the manager mentioned the girl who groomed him last was fired. Fast forward a couple months later I schedule a haircut a week out, they called me the morning of saying that someone called in. That they need to reschedule me for another week out. This is unacceptable, they should have enough staffing to be able to handle appointments. People change their whole schedules around for these types of appointments it's very unprofessional to cancel a few hours before. The next appointment i could Schedule was over a week out. I won't be going back here and i will definitely not recommend to any of my clients. Hopefully the upper management can figure out how to be accountable for this type of situations. read more

I've had nothing but good experiences at Chico Ca PetSmart David the manager and his staff were exceptional. When I went in for my dog training class I was unaware it had been rescheduled.(my fault for not double checking) Nevertheless David and his team made sure I still left happy they gave me 50% a bag of dog food! Training has also gone very well. The beginners course trainer is very interactive and makes sure you leave with everything you need to know to reinforce the training at home. read more

This store on has ONE, yes ONE measly organic dog food line. Its expensive (although you can get a discount if you become a 'member'), no selection of organic, grain free, gmo free food or treats- NOT GOOD. Then, they don't have any natural shampoos, BOO!! Big thumbs down. The people who work here are nice enough however niceness doesn't make up for the fact that a LOT of people like to feed their pets REALLY GOOD food and bathe them in NATURAL soaps, not crappy cheap imitation pesticide laden garbage and this store has none of the good stuff. I initially went because I had a gift card to spend and figured I'd have my dogs nails filed too. Since I am new to the area, I advised the groomers that I had to hold my doxy while the nails were done do to a major back issue. She wriggles, fights and bites and hates people touching her paws and had she wriggled off their table and/or fought with them and threw her back out, it would result in a $6K, you read that right, SIX THOUSAND dollar surgery. I have to be super extra careful with her due to her back problem and have gone to Healthy Spot for years (in LA), they ALWAYS let me hold my pet for fear of them injuring my dogs back. Its a simple process, I hold her, they file her nails, it takes less then 5 minutes and we're all done. The Pet Smart youngters however, refused to let me hold my doxy and insisted that THEY HAD to hold her and that I could be nowhere near them while they filed her nails. I should have walked out and taken my business elsewhere however, my doggie needed her nails trimmed and I didn't know where else to take her. WHAT A FKG PISSER. I reluctantly gave in, handed my dog over and all but demanded that they stay directly in front of me so I could see exactly how they were treating her/ holding her. Luckily for them, all went well and I was able to leave with my dogs nails filed and spine still in tact. The only reason I would ever return to this store is if every single pet grooming place in Chico went out of business. Basically, this was the first and last time I'll shop here. read more

Went here over the weekend to get my son a his first pet--a Betta fish. Looked the little guys up on Wikipedia and found out that they actually go by a scarier name--Siamese Fighting Fish. The store had a good selection of fish, all of them beautiful and none of them dead, which is a good sign. The shelves were stocked with all the items we needed to take care of our new friend and the fishy store associate was helpful when we had questions. The store is clean, cool, and always smells like a fresh hamster cage. Will definitely go back if Captain Carl stops swimming. read more

The lines are never too long, checkout is pretty quick. I took away one star because we recently bought some fish and the lady who helped us failed to inform us we shouldn't add so many fish at once. I've had fish before but it's been so long I don't remember all the details. We ended up only losing 1 fish but, you know, she should have said something. My two dogs Yogi and BooBoo have been going to PetSmart Grooming for the past 3 years. I have always been satisfied but today I was blown away by Sharleene! She spent the time with them and made sure they were looking good head to tail! I love the time she took. She let me know that she enjoyed working with them and encouraged me to make another appointment. Due to our ever changing schedule I didn't schedule their next visit yet. I would strongly advise again getting your pets groomed here. While there was one man helping an older couple who seemed great everyone else I have encountered I wouldn't personally trust with a house plant let alone my baby. The first time they totally forgot about my dog back there 30 minutes passed (this was for nail trimming takes ten minutes tops) when we asked they had an oh shit look and came back with our dog and gave us a free service since they completely forgot about her...... despite that we went back and they had "no record we have ever been there and had to come back with rabies vacc docs" not to mention we have done training there and our picture is literally on the wall of training graduates........... we or course didn't go back with the docs and never will...they are just so unprofessional and one girl was being super rude to her dog who legit was the most well behaved dog he was just large and that clearly annoyed her. Again I strongly advise you take your dog somewhere else if you want them properly cares for and would not trust them even slightly. read more

I love the groomers at Pet Smart. They are gentle and incredibly patient. My big 130lb golden retriever with special needs, often has to rest during the grooming. No problem. The dog used to be afraid of bathing, now loves it, and enjoys the whole process! I wish I could give you more than a 5 star, they love our pets! read more

We took one of our German Shepherd in today for a bath and Furminator treatment. Unfortunately the groomer we had today didn't do as thorough of a job as last time. The girl we had last time spent a lot more time brushing out and we didn't have any loose fur for a couple of weeks. Today our dog already has fur flying everywhere and we will have to brush her more when we get home. She is still wet and her fur is a little frizzy- last time it was smooth, soft, and smelled really nice. Disappointed because grooming is so expensive. read more

I take my pupsicle Cola to be groomed at the salon and love how she turns out every time! I used to take her to Chela, but after she left my pup was matched with April, whom we LOVE! April always goes the extra mile to make sure both dog and owner are happy and Cola never leaves without a happy tail wag. They do great haircuts and washes. It's a visible difference when the furry family leaves as you can see the shine in the coat on exit. Not to mention the perfectly painted nails. I mean, c'mon! I love this store! The employees are great! They are always friendly and appreciate their petsmart charities program. I am a volunteer with the Chico Cat Coalition, plus have my own pets so I am in this store a lot! I love giving them my business and Im always able to find what I'm looking for, even though they are considered a "micro" store compared to other locations.
