This location of PetsMart in Central Park, Fredericksburg, VA. Is my favorite. The hard working staff and well stocked shelves are so inviting. Also, a callout for Jackie who delivers "outstanding" customer service at the PetsMart store in Cosner's Corner, VA. Jackie is always out working on the floor with her smile and caring manner. This is for the Central Park location next to Lowes. Definitely dont go in here if its any kind of busy. Went to look at fish twice, first was almost hit by the cart of the worker. No apology or acknowledgement at all from him. Decided to step away and come back. Came back later, there was only one other customer and while counting how many fish id PLANNED to get was once again ran off. At least this associate did say excuse me, but didnt have a kind attitude or acknowledge that I was also there to get fish simply rolled her eyes as I passed (which im sure she didnt think I saw). So not 1 but 2 rude employees. There was an event happening so I assume that customer service isnt a priority during those times. Sad since I came to get fish for me and my daughters tanks. At least rhe cashier was nice to me and had good customer service skills (maybe she should help with the fish or at least share her customer skills). read more

I usually don't post on her, but this is the last straw with PetSmart at this location. This store is managed poorly. Half the employees are rude or just don't care. Went today for pictures with Santa for my 18 month old German Shepherd. The Santa was so disengaged, tried handling him/her the leash and they wouldn't even attempt to bring my dog closer. My Shepherd not once growled, barked or jumped on them. All he was doing was sniffing and checking out the soot. The employee assisting doesn't even know how to take pictures, most of the pictures taken were off center. Than a employee in a red shirt brought a dog over from either the adoption event or the Vet area, didn't believe in personal space when it comes to other dogs, and than rushed herself and the dog up to Santa for a pic even though I was yet done. Luckily my dog is pretty good around other dogs or there could have been a problem cause the employee just was not paying attention. I no longer take my Shepherd to the groomers here, last time I tried to take him, not even 30 minutes after dropping him off they call me and say for his safety and there's they can't bath/brush cause he wouldn't let them. Found a private groomer near by and found out some things on common practices with this particular store either they would some times try blowing out a pet first before bathing them which at times gets the pets worked up, or put them straight into a kennel for long periods of time before bathing them. What's the purpose of an appointment if you're not taking my dog right away. Thou the groomer I found is a bit more expensive, worth it with how they treat my shepherd who now enjoys his groomer visits. The owner started there career at Pet Smart so have firsthand knowledge of the inability to properly care for the pet. Only good experience at this store has been the training. Julie is excellent and caring with your pets and makes sure that both the dog and owner understand the task set before them. This store needs to get with it, they are slowly declining like most of the stores at Central Park. Definitely will not be going here next Xmas. read more

I booked an appointment for bathing and trimming nails, The lady on the phone was not listening at all and didnt let me know they dont groom cats, She misheard me and thought i was making an appointment for a pug even though i corrected her many times, I went to the location and they told me they dont groom cats and i had to call a different location to make an appointment. read more

I am a volunteer who checks in on our rescue cats in the adoption area. The pet care crew at this store is top notch. They are very helpful when I show up and clearly care about the cats. They update me on any behavioral, emotional, or health issues the've observed. I often see them snuggling and sweet talking while feeding and cleaning cages. So please be patient with the employees. They are there for the same reason you are. They love animals. read more

Will never be returning to this joke of a store. Went into to purchase items for my new dog, when bringing up the register, the cashier asked me if my dog that was walking around on a leash, was "a real dog". I didn't even know how to answer that. When ringing up my items, a few of my items rang up but for a discounted price. The cashier looked the machine, and then said this item had been discontinued. The other woman who was walking aimlessly around the store, came up and snatched the item out of my hand, and said in a very nasty tone "you cannot have this, it's been discontinued." I had to go reshop around the store for items similar to the ones that I could no longer buy. The next day I called the store and was immediately transfer to the manager. Right off the bat, the manager was talking over me, yelling, and being rude. At this point, I had enough. I told the manager that she needs to be less concerned with yelling at customers and discontinuing items, and more concerned with the dead fish floating in the tanks. Called customer service and corporate and the issue was taken care of respectfully and promptly. read more

Gave my dog vaccine when he was too young and made him sick also my friend dog died she wanted his ashes and they gave her an empty box and when she noticed it she had to go through several people to get a refund for the cremation they was hoping she would never open the box. I have been a regular customer at Petsmart Fredericksburg, VA for a couple of years and it has been a great place to shop for my dog and other pet needs. I occasionally buy gifts for my dog Rosco, who really loves coming to this store. There is always someone on the floor to help you if you have any questions about products and they price match their own online prices which sometimes are much cheaper than in the store. I am also a frequent customer of their Grooming Services in which they always do a Great Job. In addition, Banfield pet hospital is next door an and Pet training that truly is a one stop shop. I highly recommend Petsmart for a great friendly shopping experience where you can bring your kids and pet. read more

The PetSmart employees are fantastic. They accommodated my pets' allergies so well, and kept looking at ingredients with me to find the perfect products that fit my pets' needs! The grooming center is also amazing!!! My younger pup has a vendetta against getting his nails done, and it's no hassle to have them do it for me. I don't know what I would do if they couldn't do this, except have fur, bites, and scratches adorning my facade. It would get 5 stars, but the annoying food reps that try to push their brand are infuriating to deal with. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GROOMING LOCATION !!! Rude employees and rude manager. One dog we had they won't see who passed away due to health issues but our other dog is fine. They said they can't see our other dog due to health issues and I said he is healthy and your information is mixed up. The manager was rude and unhelpful they didn't care if our other dog was just fine. They changed their tune to say both dogs had issues which is a lie and they hung up on us. PetsMart has lots of sales, but they "conveniently" don't ring up when you get to the register. If I have to pay full price, I will do it somewhere that doesn't claim to offer sales. Also, they claim their trainers are accredited. There is no such thing. read more

I've been to this store many times. Here's what I think: Cons: Prices can be expensive, though because they are a large chain store they do have a lot of sales. To get a good deal, check the paper or go on their website and find out what's on sale. Sometimes the sales person you first speak to won't know the answer to the question you are asking. I think this might be because they are stocking in an area they don't normally work in. I've had this happen to me twice- though each time the sales person was able to track down someone who did know the answer I was looking for. Pros: They are HUGE. If you have a pet need, they most likely have it in stock. They are also very well informed. If you have a question, you can ask one of the dozen or so employees working there and someone will have your answer. The first time I had a question about their hamsters, one of the employees told me she didn't know as much about them as another gal who worked there, so she quickly got that gals attention. The second woman was very informed and patiently explained everything I wanted to know. (More about that in a moment.) I was glad to know that each staff member specialized in certain departments, and that they had no problem taking time to talk with me. They do allow you to bring your (friendly) pet into the store. This is nice as we've been working on socializing our dog (who is a rescue) and Petsmart gives us an opportunity to take her out in a public area with lots of strange sites and sounds. She even got a treat from the cashier when we went through the line! Despite the fact that pets are allowed in the store, it's still kept sparkly clean. I did see a dog do an excited piddle on the floor once, the staff mopped it up right away and not a trace of it was left. In addition, the small animal cages for their birds, mice, rat (they had one), chinchilla (again, they had one), hamsters and gerbils were immaculate. When I asked to hold one of the hamsters, I noticed no smell at all coming from the animal or the cage. All of the animals seemed alert, clean and healthy. Speaking of healthy, Petsmart also has a 30 day guarantee of good health for your pet. (at least, that's the case for their hamsters. I've purchased two from them.) One of our hamsters showed signs of having diarrhea (which can be deadly for a hamster) about three weeks after we got him. We brought him in immediately and they took him back with no problem. The nice thing about this is that Petsmart has an on-site vet and also a quarantine room where sick or new animals are kept isolated from other animals. They gave me the option of picking up our hamster again in two weeks after the vet cleared it for re-adoption. (I declined as I was going to be out of town at the time and I was fairly certain that once he was well, he'd find a home quickly) All in all, the pros far out weigh the cons. I wish they weren't so expensive at times, but they do a good job of keeping quality up, so I guess I'm ok with that. read more

I feed my dog a higher end food that they don't carry here, so my review is specifically for the grooming department. The ladies that helped out my slightly hyper lab were very nice did a wonderful job. I know PetSmart doesn't have the reputation for being "high end" in the world of pet care, but the level of service and care they will give your pets definitely is! They took their time, didn't rush me, didn't mind that I didn't have an appointment, plus I could watch from the glass window and saw my dog's tail wagging the whole time! I will definitely take my dog here for her grooming needs in the future. read more

Speaking on behalf of the dog training, I have no knowledge of their grooming. The trainer Ms. Nicole is a super helpful & kind woman and the class is great for socializing and training your dogs. All of the staff I have met have always been friendly when I bring my dog & are helpful. read more

I will not be going back to this groomer! Here's why... I've taken my two small dogs here over the past 4 years, maybe 5 or 6 times/year for full grooming. The last couple of times were the worst. One of my dogs was nicked and end up with a hotspot, causing him to scratch a patch of hair off his side all the way down to the damn white meat. Hell no girl! I had to take him to Banfield (Petsmart's vet) to get it taken care of. I left with some powder to help it heel and a $200 bill. THEY are who told me perhaps the groomer nicked my dog. I still went back to the groomer this latest time like a dipshidiot. Anyway, my dogs had appointments for 12:30. I called at 12:25 and told them I was running late and would they still see the dogs. They said yes come on in. I arrived at 12:50. and stood there as I watched two groomers standing around with other dogs. Kelly stood with a dog constantly saying "your mama is coming", while the other groomer brushed her own hair in the mirror. Dead serious! Kelly finally made her way over to me (oh sorry to bother you while you did nothing) and asked my dogs' names. When I told her she then said I was too late and they couldn't be seen. I reminded her that I called to ensure it was ok for them to come. She got an attitude and said...yeah you said you'd be 5 or 10 minutes late. Of course I never said that b/c I don't even live 5 or 10 minutes away. Little liar! Her attitude about it was most annoying. I asked for the supervisor and she went to the back to tell him a couple of lies I'm sure. I think his name was Kevin. He was a nice guy but said I was more than 30 minutes late so my dogs wouldn't be seen. Although I was only 20 minutes late, which he acknowledged b/c he said he looked at the clock when I walked in yet still wouldn't let my dogs be seen. He bothered me when I told him how rude Kelly was being and he didn't bat an eye to say he'd address it or apologize for it at all. He also didn't seem to give a damn when I said...perhaps if your groomer wasn't spending time grooming herself over there, she'd have time to take care of my dogs. He didn't say anything about that or even look in her direction. He wanted to make me another appointment for the next day. I thought about it and decided I'd never return to that groomer (or store) ever. read more

Great business for general purposes, but not grooming. We took our black lab/daschund puppy to have his nails trimmed and they ended up ripping some of his nails and made nasty comments about how difficult he was. He was a puppy! We now use our vet. read more

I wish I could give zero stars but i can't. I had my dog groomed at a Petsmart in the southpoint location a while back and was very upset with the results. I thought that I may have experienced bad luck or a new groomer; something other than bad standards. The next appointment I set was for the central park location. Sadly the grooming at this location was much worse. I have a schnauzer. I know his cut is hard and if I asked for a schnauzer cut I could have dealt with some errors, but I ask for a clean shave. They literally can't shave a dog. He has hair poking out allover, they shaved off half the beard on the right side of his face and left the other side untouched, and the eyebrows are really bad; really bad. Please don't go to Petsmart for grooming! I'll post a follow up to this post with actual groomers and prices. From what I understand Petsmart has raised prices to the point of being within a few dollars of credible grooming establishments. read more

I always shop at this store, but I won't go there on Saturdays. They are packed. I love that I can take my dogs and let them choose their toys. The workers there have been helpful and always pay special attention to my dogs. I have been to their grooming service for a long time without a problem. I have two dachshunds that don't enjoy their nails done.My vet said this is common, but the girls at the pet store are very good with them and always treat them well regardless of how my little guys act. I also have gotten two cats from this store and they are angels. read more
