This location is always clean and well stocked. Staff in all areas (store, vet, grooming) have always been courteous and helpful. My dog gets his nails trimmed here regularly and the groomers are always quick and do a good job with him. This is for the grooming, the store is a typical Petsmart with everything you could want and more for your pet... It's Summertime in Houston, and it's HOT, my little Lucy needed a hair cut PRONTO, so I decided to give Petsmart a shot, being that their prices are pretty reasonable. ($45) Dropped her off on Saturday at 1130, she was ready to roll by 3p.m. They did a really good job in filing down her nails, cleaning her up, and shaving her down (something called a 1/2 off) Lucy ran out of there like a new woman (dog) and happy as can be to be running outside without the extra 2 lbs of fur. I've been going here for a few years now but it's finally what happened today to compel me to review. First off, the manager is so nice! He's almost always there when I go in and he's always walking around greeting people and asking if they need help. Today I went in to banfield to get a prescription for my dogs food, and little did I know the woman handling it was the doctor! She was super sweet and although I don't take my dog here for her exams, she still came around the counter and checked her eyes out for me (Shes had an infection for a while now and there was a spot on her eye I was suspicious of). Also get my dog groomed here, and besides one time out of like 20, I've been thoroughly satisfied. The one time, her hair was just longer than I had liked. Anyway great place! I had a negative experience at the Banfield at this location. They prescribed way too high of a dose of medicine for my kitten when we brought her in. I ended up having to go to another vet to address the problem. They wasted time getting our kitty well again, and they wasted our money. This review is specifically relating to the Houston Heights location. All businesses are in business to make money, understandably. This location pads the bill to extremes.The last veterinarian today tried to intimidate me into a Exam in order to receive my dogs booster vaccinations. Our first visit we incurred a bill around $500. This included a X-ray for a limp and his first vaccinations. At that time we got a referral for a Orthopedic specialist as the doctors at Petsmart are unable to deal with this problem. When I came back to get my dogs 2nd set of vaccines I was told I would be charged for another exam. Every time you go there to pick up Heart worm medicine which they want to prescribe pill by pill you are charged another exam every month. Unless of course you sign up for their plan which they hard sell you on at every opportunity. The Vet today was hostile and downright scary. I feel like this Petsmart are dishonest, unprofessional and I will be taking my dog to a Veterinarian that I feel comfortable with. read more

Worst customer service I've ever had. I've lived in 3 states in which both of my dogs have been groomed at petsmart and this was by far the worst location I've ever been too. Rude, unprofessional and under skilled! If you have a dog who requires minimum work when grooming you may be ok but if not DO NOT let them touch your pet. She asked me if I had a penny and I said no and then she proceeded to smile and give me two dollars back babe I asked where my $.99 was and she says we don't have exact change sorry there's a coin shortage so she would rather rip me off $.99 then rip off her machine for one cent. I have had multiple disappointing experiences with curbside service at this location. They will not bring your order to the curb when it is raining, or when they are short staffed. I fully understand the challenges with covid and retail right now but would suggest that this location find a way to inform customers of these specifics. Without knowing when they are and when they are not participating in curbside, I have gone to pick up orders and had to turn around and go home without my purchase. Very frustrating as a consumer. I say I have a nine o'clock appointment (rolls her eyes) "you have your proof of vaccines" hand her a list of everything my dogs have had since 2007, glances at it and says "nope! this isn't sufficient, we can't except this" I'm not bitter at that they didn't except them, I'm annoyed with everyone's customer service. This review is regarding the grooming area: my dog has been groomed every 3-6 months for the last 9 years at multiple different grooming establishments - we are no stranger to grooming. Normally, he is happy and just fine after a groom. Not sure what happened at Petsmart but my dog has not stopped shaking for 2 days after his groom. Every time I reach down to pet him, he shakes. A decent location for a pet store but the size and the offerings were quite different than I anticipated. I'm always a fan for shopping at PetSmart when I want to buy a surprise toy or treat for my pets but this one just made me shake my head. I'm use to a bigger PetSmart and when I mean bigger I don't mean the size but just in general the layout of the store, the selection of toys, pricing is now way off for me. I don't know but I"m use to being able to buy a decent size dog toy for under $5 and when I went in here nothing in here matched that. In the end the staff is quite friendly, the store is clean, popular store, things are organized, and of course layout is not bad. The first time I went to this store I had the worst service experience. Toting my new pound puppy and attempting to buy a crate I finally made it to the register. The cashier was texting when I entered the lane and didn't do anything to help me manage the large crate and my dog- not the biggest deal but a little annoying. The worst part was my large crate wouldn't ring up. All he said to me was, "the computer is saying I can't sell this to you". I waited for a few seconds because I knew he was going to do more than just make that one declarative statement. I told him there were a lot of those on the shelf he just said well I don't want to get in trouble for selling something I shouldn't. Again I waited for a few seconds for him to come up with a solution. I had to insist that he call a manager. He did and after she pressed a few keys magically he was able to sell it. This was a very poor service experience. Because this store is close to were I live I went back the next day and received good service from the clerk hence the three star rating. read more

I take my pug here to get her smelling so fresh and so cleannn, cleann. They treat her like a princess and after her last visit at the groomer's they thanked her over the store intercom for visiting! It added a very personal touch and was unexpected for a petstore located in the city. They keep the store clean and the staff is very knowledgeable on the products they offer. I've been a loyal customer of Petsmart since I got my dog 4 years ago. However, this location's grooming service is below par. The staff was OK to interact with, not friendly but not unkind. I was a walk-in for nail grinding. When I got my dog back his nails were still pretty sharp and jagged. Definitely not worth the $12. I should've inspected him before I tipped the groomer. I understand my dog is not agreeable when it comes to cutting his nails (he gets nasty), but I've alwasy been satisfied with the nail trimming service at the 3 other Petsmart locations I've taken him too in the past. The vet here is a lazy and rude. If you want to hear our experience here ... please read below. We brought our dog to get washed there and about a day later it was obvious there was water in her ear. They didn't want to take responsibility for that which is fine, so we made an appointment with the Vet there as our dog is in obvious pain Upon arriving for our vet appointment today 5/17/17, we patiently waited in line to check in (the receptionist was working with another customer at the time) ... we technically signed in 7 mins late because of this and they refused our appointment!! I'm not disputing that we signed in 7 mins late but to cancel our appointment that we made because they got water in our dogs ear is unacceptable. We asked about their cancelation policy and they said it was after 10 minuets they can cancel, but they didn't seem to care about their own policy. Now we have to wait even longer for an appointment while or dog is obviously developing an ear infection that they caused. They wouldn't even look at her! They sat vacant for 23 minuets instead of seeing our dog!! And they say they care about your pet ... (Not to hate on the groomers, they were very friendly, and mistakes happen. It was the Vet there today that was absolutely rude and turned us away because they were (in my opinion) lazy). read more

A few days ago, I took my puppy to get groomed. He had been there once before so I wasn't worried. After only an hour, I was called to pick him up because he was not cooperating. When I arrived the groomers said my puppy did not allow them to cut his hair. I paid the $40 for the bath and left. Once at home, my puppy was a completely different dog. He went straight to his bed and would not move. When my daughter or I would try and touch him, he would growl and/or try and bite us. This aggressiveness was never an issue before. I called the store to speak with Laura, the groomer who worked on him and she was no longer there. The person who answered the phone again told me how difficult my dog was. I've tried calling again today and received the run around. I will not give up on finding out what happened to my dog, but I definitely will not be taking him back to PetSmart. read more

I am a new pet owner and this was the first I have gotten my Chorkie groomed so my standards may not be the same as others. I called on a Saturday and was able to get a appointment for a Sunday. The price was forty bucks for her to get groomed. They did a great job on her especially being that I am sure she was a little difficult. We use this PetSmart because of its convenience to our apartment. They have everything you would expect for a complete range of animals plus a grooming facility and a pet hospital as well. Our dog is getting old so we got her the health plan from the hospital and it has already paid for itself in x rays and visits. If your animal is getting up there be sure to ask about their pet health plans. We have been pleased with the care our dog has received in her visits to the clinic so far. This place is animal friendly (of course) so you can bring your dog in there on a leash. read more

I recently hit hard times and had trouble making ends meet. I could afford to pay rent and my expenses but didn't leave me much of a cushion. I was able to find food for myself but had a hard time finding assistance for pet food. In a desperate attempt before looking into giving up my pet cat. I reached out to PetSmart! I used to take my Maltese to get groomed at this location. There is a young, thin guy (I ALWAYS forget his name so the description is necessary) who does a FABULOUS job but he only works weekends. The staff seemed to change quite a bit. The last time I dropped off my dog I saw one of the male groomers dragging a poor dog by a leash. He was a big man so he easily could have picked up the dog and carried it to the back. I then heard someone scream "SHUT UP!!!" in the back room because the dogs were barking. I felt uneasy after I left so I made up a story to come and rescue my dog. I have been taking my Cocker Spaniel here for a few months now and have been pleased overall with the store and employees. For ~$50 I'm able to have my dog groomed and I've been nothing but pleased with the service. I will continue to use them for my grooming needs. 2 stars for the grooming service. Only reason I didn't give 1 star was because the gentleman that helped me with my issue was very nice and the manager did give me my money back. We took our husky here to get a bath with furminator and a trim. Only reason I took him to this location was because our regular location didn't have any times available for that day and we needed to get him in asap. But, when we came to pick him up, he was completely bald. His beautiful coat was completely gone. When I asked if this was discussed upon drop-off (my boyfriend dropped him off) the guy told me that the lady that checked him asked my boyfriend if the 7 shave was okay and even showed him on the chart how short it was. But my boyfriend assured me that that definitely never happened. She never showed him a chart of any sort or even discussed the haircut because obviously he wouldn't have agreed to it either. They then proceeded to tell me that they checked to see what his prior cut was. So, which one is it? Did you show him the chart or did you just look up what his last cut was? Caught them in a lie right there. Yes, we had to previously shave him because he had a skin rash... but that was LAST YEAR, and we have taken him 3 times after that to get a trim. So, I'm also irritated at the fact that petsmart isn't keeping their computer log updated. I would also assume that the staff would be educated on dogs and their coats, but obviously no one there knows that you're definitely never supposed to shave a husky bald unless it's for a health issue. Also, if my plan was to get my dog shaved... why would I be paying extra for the furminator? Seems pretty useless without any hair right? Again, they did give me all my money back.. but now it is going to take MONTHS for my dog to grow back his coat. read more

The store it's self is great. But the customer service from the cashier really made my visit bad. We recently moved closer to this location. It was my first time there, I had to buy a dog tag. I bought a couple items and the cashier pointed to machine locate to the left side of the store by the entrance. I went to the machine followed the directions but didn't really understand where I put the tag. I didn't want to be rude so waited again in line, the cashier told how to place the tag in the machine. But it would had been awesome if she would had made an effort to give me further instructions. I went back to the machine to read some more dumb tag would not stay. I went back to the line. And waited! Not customer service oriented at all. She told me it had a hook, I went back to the machine "my arch enemy" if you ever use this machine and if it doesn't stay in place flip it over. This review is regarding the grooming "salon" at this Petsmart location. I have given them three tries and every single time I was given horrible service. The first time I had dropped off my dogs on a Sunday at noon to get baths. I didn't receive a call until 5:45PM that my dogs were ready and that "store closing is at 6PM so come get your dogs now or they will be held over night". Thank you for the 15 minute warning?! I had to run several lights and haul ass to go pick up my dogs. I told the girl that I had even called around 3PM to see if they were done and was told (rudely) that I would receive a call once they were done and that they were very busy. My thought is someone forgot to call me and then once it was time to get off work they decided to call me to get my dogs. The next thing is when I have gotten my dogs bathed here they always leave with their coats not clean. It's like someone just sprayed a TON of perfume on them leaving a layer of film and then overly strong perfume. And they never do the anal glands at this location. You don't want to know why I know that but I do. If you live near this location do yourself a favor and drive to the Shepherd location. They always have friendly and reliable service. They actually do wash your dog and the other things that you're paying for. How nice! read more

I came for some neon fish. Looking in the tank, there were a few tiny and VERY pale neons - they looked very sick. In the rest of the tank, there were literally PILES of dead neons, some already halfway decomposed. There is absolutely no excuse for that. This review is for the Banfield. The staff was friendly, but incompetent. For instance, they would call to remind me that my puppy had an upcoming booster shot. I'd bring my puppy in on the morning of the appointment, only to be told that in actuality, he didn't need the shot for another 2 weeks and that I'd have to reschedule. This happened more than once. To say that this is inconvenient would be an understatement. Furthermore, when my puppy got neutered, the vet didn't remove all of his non-absorbable sutures during his post surgery check-up. I noticed after a few weeks that there was persistent swelling and irritation, so I called the vet to ask if I could bring my puppy in so they could remove it. The vet insisted that there was no way he made a mistake. I ended up bringing my puppy to a different vet to get it removed, because I flat out didn't trust the ones at this Banfield anymore. The puppy wellness plan costed us $33/month for a year. Totally not worth the hassle. read more

Made an appointment for my dog to get a summer cut, and when I called the day of just to confirm the appointment time, they couldn't find his file and said there was no appointment. He had been there several times before, so he definitely had a file. I had even gotten his vaccines updated, and then called to confirm that he was good to go. She kept insisting that I must have called the wrong location (which I didn't), and refused to acknowledge that it could have been a mistake on her end.
