Cat scratcher and catnip from PetSmart
    Martha K.

This product from China , is still sitting on the shelves of PetSmart Nationwide , even though my neighbors precious 2 year old cat ingested some wrapping on the catnip .... It was full of needle sharp splinters and slashed the poor kitties insides , as a result , she bled out and died The store is investigating, but in the meantime is leaving the product on their shelves ! A child could have also gotten hold of this. This is outrageous and shameful. Totally irresponsible in my opinion . I will boycott PetSmart , I suppose as my small part to shame them.

DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!! My 22 month old Toy size Morkie ( Maltese/Yorkie ) mix pup had been getting groomed by PetSmart since he was about 7 weeks old. This is the 2nd PetSmart location I've been to. This past May was his last grooming appt there. The only groomer by the name of Rashunda, was the ONLY one that actually groomed him the way I've requested over and over again in the past. Recently I had not been able to book her due to her being out or unavailable through no fault by her. Pics below are from Rashunda doing his grooming. I deleted the pics my husband took with other groomers since they shaved him claiming he had matted spots when he didn't and he looked terrible! This past groomer named Mana ( I believe she's Japanese ) had groomed him a few times. This last appt, I had a bunch of extra charges. I consistently and faithfully brush my pup especially between grooming appts due to the type of hair he has to avoid matting so they don't shave him down. Miso never had a problem with any other groomer, no reports of him being aggressive or anything like that. This past appt, I had an extra charge for brushing, they charge you extra if they have to burnish longer than 15 mins, an extra charge for him being "hard to handle". They stated he was extremely hyper and "gator rolling", his breed mind you are hyperactive dogs to begin with. Then another extra charge because "supposedly" he tried to bite her and another groomer walking by. He's never done this to anyone else, and he only shows slight aggression if someone does that to him or handles him extremely roughly! 1. When you are in a job that is a customer service position, it's most helpful when you can actually communicate with the person efficiently, a language barrier makes it extremely difficult to communicate your needs to someone that can't understand you! 2. This is the first time I've ever heard of a 7 pound puppy being BANNED from a pet store! The reasons the manager gave me is because "he wouldn't close his mouth"... so did he bite someone? Try to bite someone like they claimed, or was he just playing around because that's what he does to my husband and myself. When you put your hands near him, he likes to lick and play with yourself hands, NOT BITE! 3. How does an establishment called "PETSMART" not have the proper experience or equipment to manage and properly groom animals?!! Other professional groomers have leashes, muzzles, all kinds of safety equipment for "problematic" animals. It's laughable that PETSMART overcharges for mediocre grooming/groomers with little to no experience and lack of knowledge with different breeds and behavior. 4. Upon attempting to make another grooming appt for Miso, I was blocked on the app from doing so and when calling the store they said he was banned! On another occasion, one of their cashiers who stated she was the manager was rude upon opening the store as well. Needless to say I found a wonderful professional groomer to take Miso. Fur paws pet hotel! Their FULL grooming package is CHEAPER which includes, anal gland expressing and nail cutting unlike PetSmart who charges extra for that. PetSmart charges 15 extra just for nail grinding and his nails would still be rough and jagged! Fur paws pet hotel ALSO takes their time with their clients that come in, and the groomers themselves are professional behavioral and defense trainers! They are very experienced with a wide range of different breeds and their behaviors and dogs with separation anxiety as well! They even take King Cane Corsos! Which might I add are much bigger than a 7 pound Maltese! Never again will I ever patron PetSmart !!

I WILL NEVER TAKE MY DOG HERE AGAIN

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. Destiny was the employee scheduled to do his grooming, wether it was her or not this is unacceptable. The fear in my dog's eyes fill me with anger. He can not stop shaking of fear. I want an explanation to this. No animal should be put through this. This will definitely be THE LAST time that i will going there.

Lola's eye the next day. It's hard to tell in the picture but it's a deep wound.

I'm typing this on behalf of my mom since she isn't familiar with yelp. She brought in her dog Lola who is a sweet Lagatto Romagnolo (petsmart just put' s her down as a cockacapoo for haircutting style) . Lola goes to the groomers monthly. I have taken her myself and she has no problems. Yesterday when my mom went to pick her up the woman who was working there (she didn't catch her name just that she may have been Asian) ran off to the back. My mom was left waiting for a long time (she claims at least 20min) and started to feel something was wrong. When the groomer finally came back out with Lola she was bleeding from the paws and above her eyes and her collar was torn and stressed (this is an inside dog who gets new collar with each grooming the collar had no previous damage). Lola was shaking and whining. When my mom asked what happened the groomer said she didn't know and handed her the bill before racing off to the back. That was it. Just the bill. Not even the normal report they usually give out. My mom had to carry Lola to the car (I am posting pictures with her bloody clothes) and when she came back in she spoke with the manager trying to find out what happened. Magically no one seems to know. This morning they called her to follow up on her complaints and now the groomer says Lola walked in already looking nervous and nothing happened to the dog. Lola is usually a happy and very loving dog but through the night she has been shaking and throwing up from anxiety. We brought her to the vet and the vet was extremely concerned and even mentioned that either the collar got ripped because they left in the kennel and she nervously chewed it or someone was pulling and tugging on her while getting a haircut. Lola is now taking pain medicine because she can't walk on the injured paw and anti anxiety medicine to hopefully stop the shaking and nervous vomiting. Fortunately my mom did not pay for the grooming bill but I am posting this as a warning do not bring your pet to this location. It's one thing for an accident to happen but it's seems like something more than that happened here.

TLDR: Our dog was attacked and they claim that he scratched himself. First photo is a pic from them…read moreand the rest are after the area was shaved for veterinary care. Judge for yourself if the injuries are scratches or bite marks and if a dog is physically able to scratch itself on the inside of its ear. They are very clearly puncture wounds to us and our vet. --------------------------------------- Dropped off our blind dog 11.24.2025 at roughly 3pm. The morning of 11.28.2025 we received a message that his ear had been bleeding and they believed it was from scratching so they provided him with the expected medical care. Afternoon of 11.29.2025 they told us he was "shaking". My wife was able to pick him up early and take him to the emergency vet (Saturday evening and regular vet closed) who shaved and treated the area and gave him antibiotics. We did follow-up with our regular vet and they determined that the injuries were puncture wounds from a dog attack. When we told them Fur Paws said the injuries were from him scratching himself they looked at us like we had just told them 1 + 1 = 3. In spite of the records we provided from the vet showing his treatment history and their diagnosis of "dog bite wounds and vestibular disease" Fur Paws claims he arrived there with some condition that led to him scratching himself (on the inside of his ear too!). He arrived 11.24, they noticed wounds 11.28, and by the afternoon of 11.29 he was shaking so he had a fever. It takes 24-72 hours for infection and then a fever to occur so one can do the math on their claim that he arrived with an ailment already. Then you add in that these are clearly not scratch marks and you see that they're questioning our intelligence with their explanation. Send your dog here at your own risk.

However, it's what you do to rebound from that right? So Alejandro saw us and apologized so it doesn't really matter. At the end of the day, our furry children had a good time. They had a blueberry facial, they had bandanas, they also had a lot of exercise and 1:1 time. What I loved-- is how we can check the pet cameras to make sure they are ok! They also did brain games too and they were so tired when we picked them up! Money usually cries in the car but he didn't cry at all on our way back so I could tell that dogtopia did a very great job. Jasmine also explained everything well. The pups also had their nails trimmed too!!!! I loved how they center the dogs around like what group they can be too! Penny and Money were in the medium dog size group for medium energy! Separated from highest energy dogs! That kind of thought is so cute!

I drop my dog off at 10 am for an appointment 6/6 I made weeks in advance, they confirm my appointment the day before as well, at 2PM IN THE AFTERNOON I'm informed there's no groomer there, never was a groomer down on the schedule at all. After several training inquiries with multiple companies, I immediately heard back from Karma, and a call with the owner was set up. He asked me all about Juice and explained the options he thought would be best. After deciding on "board and train" he said he thought he had the perfect person in mind and they would reach out soon. A couple days later I received correspondence from Sammye Darling, a trainer for Karma, who wanted to set up a call to talk about Juice. During our call she was very confident that she would be able to help with teaching him basic obedience and jumping. We settled on a 10 day timeframe with the expectation that it would be imperative to continue the training ourselves afterwards. (She would've preferred 14 days because that last few days is really when the training sinks in but I assured her we would stay on it) Scheduling was easy and convenient while we went out of town on vacation. Sammye was warm, gentle, and friendly upon dropping Juice off with her and I trusted her immediately. She stayed in constant communication with us, sending pictures, and updates on his progress. He took some time, he's stubborn, but eventually she saw the switch and said he was doing great! I missed him so much but knew he was in good hands with Sammye. Fast forward 10 days later and the day came to pick him up and I couldn't wait to see him. I'll spare you all the details of baby talk, kisses, hugs, etc. but it was a joyous reunion that had us in awe of the things he had learned. We spent about an hour there learning the commands, how to reward them, and practicing before heading home. She worked wonders and we were so excited to go home and continue the work. Before leaving we scheduled our follow up in person training session for a couple weeks out so Sammye could come see him in his own environment and see if we actually kept up with the training which we did! He is doing great! No, he's not perfect and we're still working on certain things but he's a different dog in many aspects. He has a "place" for when we're eating and now does it without asking and gets "off" the bed when it's time (he's too big to sleep with us) so he has his own. Those are two giant wins for us and we can't thank Sammye enough! He learned so much more and we continue to work with him everyday. Karma was professional and quick to respond which is always something I appreciate. Sammye, our trainer, was a delight who was professional, caring, thoughtful, hard-working, and made Juice feel right at home (in her own home) while teaching him some manners. I can't recommend her enough! Juice definitely missed her and was so excited to see her when she came over which further solidified how amazing she was. Call Karma and ask for Sammye as your trainer. You won't regret it!
