We have great experiences here! It's an inexpensive place with great quality grooming. Chevy, my mini Aussie, always looks happy when I come to pick him up. The only thing I'm not fond of is I call about 2-3 hours after I drop him off for his scheduled appt and the owner usually says "I haven't gotten to him yet". I'm unsure of how grooming places should operate but I don't like him just waiting around (especially probably in a kennel). I am new to the area and been so nervous to try new places out as my dog is my darling child. I decided to give this place a try after reading great reviews but after looking deeper into the reviews, I noticed they were all from previous owners prior to the new one. At first the place tried to be accommodating, but ended up canceling my appointment left and right. After finally being able to take my dog in, I noticed he was scared to be dropped off which is a first. I decided to ignore the signs and try them anyway due to the amazing reviews they had (which could be fake reviews anyway). Once i came back after a couple of hours, the person in the front decided to tell me they were done way earlier then expected and locked him in a cage for several hours. WHY DIDNT THEY CALL ME!!! If I can give zero stars I truly would. A pet spa is all about giving pets the most love and care during their peaceful day. to start off, Once i got home he drank so much water that had me thinking they never gave him something to drink like how RUDE. they neglected my dear dog by not giving a proper groom. His hair was uneven and he smelled as if the products they use are either old or dirty. The paws were not cut snd dirtier then when he came giving me thoughts on how they keep their place clean. Not only is it consistently great service but most importantly the staff genuinely love every dog that walks through those doors! I booked an appointment when I went online the price for the cut was 40 dollars when I went in they wanted to charge me 60. My dog was not groomered properly, his hair was all choppy and was still dirty. He also looked like he hadn't had any water during the time he was there when I went to get him. This place had a horrible smell as soon as you walked in. Boy was I wrong about this place, after reading some Yelp reviews. I looked online to see the prices and found them to be fair, but once I went in person it seems that the pricing on the website was incorrect by 20 dollars or so. That was my 1st red flag, trying to upsale a new customer is not the greeting I expected. But we were able to make it work out. I was able to drop my doggie and try out their experience. I came back a few hours later to find my dog sitting in a cage and looked tried and dehydrated!! This is not OKAY! If I'm taking my dog to a "spa & retreat" I would expect them to be uplifted. After looking carefully at my doggie I noticed that some parts of his body were not groomed or cut, the worse of it all was seeing my dog bleeding! I tried to talk to them about this once I noted it at home, but they were very resistance and blamed me for it. This is the last time I will take my dog here and I do not recommend anyone to support this business. After doing more digging I found that most of these good reviews are from past owners. read more

The owner of Pet Spa & Retreat, Christina, clearly does not know the number 1 rule when owning a business - treat customers like gold. I'd never used this shop before but I was helping my neighbor by dropping off her dog for a two day stay while she was traveling; my neighbor's an established customer. It was prearranged that I drop her dog off at noon on Saturday. But my plans changed so I called the shop to see if I could drop off the dog an hour or two later. When I requested a later drop off time Christine acted insulted implying I was inconveniencing her to even ask; she abruptly said 'no' and for her the earlier the better. I arrived with the dog a few minutes before noon. I was met by this incredibly unfriendly woman showing zero professionalism. Once more, I was shocked a business owner would behave so rudely with a customer. When I returned two days later to pick up the dog Christina again acted crudely; her FIRST words to me were that I was not allowed in her shop again. Christina started yelling about how she didn't like my attitude! I told her I though she was the rudest person I'd ever met. Then she exploded shouting at me and when I became upset by her behavior she kept pointing at a security camera yelling she was recording everything. This woman was so unhinged I feared what she might do. I even asked her if she was going to pull out a gun. She threatened to call the cops on me which was laughable as she had no grounds to have me arrested. After screaming at me to get out of her shop repeatably I picked up the terrified dog and left. Immediately afterwards Christina texted my neighbor, the dog owner, who was out of the country, with a threat that if I posted a bad review (on social media) she would take action (?) against all parties because it was defamation. Took my senior dog, Lilly, to get a bath here two days ago and I am really impressed on how she turned out! I really love how meticulous the groomer was with her. What I'm currently obsessed with is how the groomer trimmed her nails, trimmed the fur in between her paw pads, and how her paws were shaped so it did not look like she had little Grinch feet anymore! I would have given a five star rating but, gave a four rating instead is because I would have really appreciated it if the establishment called me to notify that my dog was finished and ready to be picked up, rather than for me to have to call and ask to only find out she was already finished. In addition to that, upon picking her up, she did not receive a bandanna or a bow on her as promised when I dropped her off in the morning. However, this is a very small issue that can be resolved when I take my dog back here next time. Overall, I really loved how my dog came out to be! What is included in the package I chose is well worth it for the price! Not to mention, how detailed the grooming came out to be. I have now found my favorite place to take my dog in for grooming services since I moved from California not too long ago. I'm so pleased with this boarding and grooming experience! First let me talk about the facilities. The moment you walk in, the place smells super clean. I could see my dog as they placed him in the front room which has a see thru glass, much to my surprise the place is truly cage free. My dog was playing with other dogs and you could tell that all dogs were happy and relaxed. I opted for having him groomed and unlike most pug owners, I have mine shaved every couple of months. I have been taking my dog here to get groomed for the past 2 years and they have always done a great job. Unfortunately, today was the worst experience ever. The hair the back of her neck, chest, and abdomen were so UNEVEN AND CHOPPY. When I show the girl in the front desk the uneven areas and asked her to retrimm the areas, she said she can't, said that my dog's hair was too matted, and that there was nothing they can do. I scheduled an appointment for my dog to be groomed 3 weeks ago. My husband and I made the drive from Tomball this morning (I saw they had good reviews thus far we were willing to drive a little further) and arrived early to our appointment at 8:45 when his appointment was at 9am. We noticed the lights weren't on so I called the owner who said she was 15 minutes away. We were understanding of this and waited. 9:20 rolled around and the owner finally arrived. As we waited for the owner, I looked at more reviews and we decided to take our dog to be groomed elsewhere. I told the owner that we were cancelling our appointment because it was 9:30 at the point and there were several other dogs arriving as well...we weren't planning to have most of our day wasted and I figured with several dogs also coming in to be groomed that he wasn't going to be groomed until well after 10. The owner said "is it because I was late?" And I said yes. I was calm and understanding until she said our dog wasn't in the system yet. Excuse me, I set up this appointment 3 weeks ago! Not okay. I found it very unprofessional despite the offering of 25% off for the next service. Frankly, we feel it should've been for the service he was supposed to receive today. If I could give this place a half a star, I would. I took my sheepadoodle in to have him bathed and trimmed. Prior to the appointment, I spoke directly with the groomer about what I wanted. I specifically asked her NOT to cut his curly ears at all. I also asked her not to cut the hair on his face and leave that "straight mustache" look that some doodles have. He has long hair and she said that she was really surprised at how soft and unmatted his hair was. She said there was some slight tangling around his collar. I showed her a picture of how I wanted his hair and told her I wanted a "long puppy cut" and she said..."ok, so just a trim to clean him up!?" Below are 2 pictures of how he looked before, a picture of how I wanted him (long puppy cut) and the last 2 are how she butchered him. We were dumbfounded and irritated by the groomers inability to follow directions. When I saw him, I was livid and she tried to tell me it was all she could do because he was so matted. When I called her on that lie, she said, " all I can do is not charge you!" And she walked off and slammed the door. Needless to say, I would NEVER take my dog back here!!! read more

Seemingly very nice people. Also, very choppy haircut on my poor dog. Her long ears were chopped completely off and were the shortest they've ever been in her life. There's also chunks cut out of her coat. It is evident how my dog normally wears her ears but this groomer decided to chop them all off with longer hairs still hanging. Even with sending notes from our previous groomer and photos, I picked my dog up with chopped, lopsided ears. The groomer came out and blamed my dog, stating that she bites which isn't a report from any other groomer in 11 years, also isn't characteristic of her. Clearly my dog wasn't receptive to this groomer for some reason and I'll honor that. I also found it odd that the groomer and her daughter both told me that they thought my dog would be difficult based on her name. Who judges dogs based off of their names? Probably the same people who pre-judge people for different reasons. Glamour discerns people well, thus we will continue our search for the right groomer. read more

My only issue recently is that I never seem to be contacted when my dog is ready. They say that they called and left a voicemail but I never see anything on my phone. This has happened twice in a row so far and we verified my cell number. I'm inclined to believe it's some phone issue between their line and my cell, odd none-the-less. I am not happy at all with the services I received from this salon. I had high hopes for Pet Spa & Retreat after seeing all the many good reviews here on Yelp, but I left very disappointed. I brought my pup here for a grooming appointment. Very simple cut...just a 7 all over, blend head and tail. I used to work in a grooming salon, and this is probably the most common cut we did. I also request NO bows. When I picked up my girl, she did not look good at all! Her coat is extremely choppy, her ears/head are very poorly blended, and the tail not blended at all! Her tail is a giant fluff that clearly barely (if at all) got trimmed! It touches the ground while she's walking just as before. Her paws are very scraggly with hairs sticking out all over the place as well. I told the employee that was there my issues, but all the groomers had left already (of course). No discount, coupon, refund, or anything of any sort was offered except for a cheap, lowly muttered "sorry" as she continued to look at the computer screen. Her haircut looks like the quick shave a groomer does before bathing the dog (just to get the hair off for a faster dry). It does not appear they ever went back over her to smooth her out or anything. In addition, she has severe razor burn now on her rear leg! Her skin is bright red there with very little/no hair now. It wasn't like that before, even under her thick coat (I brush her thoroughly 3-4 times per week). We will never come back here again. PetSmart has done a better job in the past. We are extremely disappointed. read more
