i religiously used to come here until mistreated by management. i tried to purchase food that was marked with a certain price, but did not reflect that at the register. after a manager was called, it was clear he did not want to be there. he was extremely crude and sarcastic and spoke in a way that was unintelligible. when he tried to check me out at the register, i told him i would wait for the other cashier. the other cashier basically told me no. so i walked out without purchasing anything. the manager was illiterate, unprofessional and abused his power. he knows exactly who he is. i now go to petco down the street where they take care of their customers. read more

I've had trouble both times getting my dog groomed. Quinten is the guy I've dealt with both times. He had an attitude the first time and I brushed it off. The grooming was alright. The second visit, Quinten had an attitude when I discussed what I wanted. Specifically saying do not shave. This was the first time getting my dogs hair cut. He brushed off my requests and shaved my dog even though we specifically said not to. Quinten then got defensive and spoke back to my wife. He had rude remarks when we pointed out we did not get what we wanted. I don't believe he or the staff are knowledgeable enough for grooming and provide awful customer service. read more

Have all the materials I need. Big issue is the cashier at the front. I shopped there weeks ago and he asked if I wanted to have a phone number with them and I said no and he rudely kept badgering me about it. I went today to buy poop bags and he asked "do you have a phone number with us?" and I said "no" and he slammed the cashier desk with his hand and would not look at me. GROOMING SALON I have been taking my dog to PetSmart for over two years and continue to come back because of the love and special care that Melanie gives her. She does a wonderful job asking what type of groom the dog needs and is always very cautious about not taking off too much (she even called me mid-groom to confirm, I loved that!) -- My dog isn't the easiest to handle around a blow-dryer & I feel that Melanie takes good care of her anxiety. This pet smart is an embarrassment for all affiliated with its franchise. I've avoided this location despite its convenience to my home due to customer service issues alone. My first time bringing my dogs in I was told when they'd be ready and I showed up promptly only to be told, with attitude, that nobody called me and my dogs weren't done. Today, I had to take the dogs back to this horrid location because of time constraints. They were dropped off promptly and I was told they would be done by 6 and we would be notified when they were finished. I received a call at 5:50, as I was pulling into the parking lot, and spoke to an employee who rudely told me that they "were closing in 3 minutes and the dogs are still here". I told him I was already walking in and informed him that I hadn't been notified. He didn't have a reply. I arrived at the door which was already locked. I buzzed the "groomer" button. An employee stood inside, about 10 feet from the door, and held up 6 fingers and mouthed "six" to me, presumably to let me know they close at 6. I continued to wait and she approached the door, poked only her head out and asked if I needed the groomer. I replied yes and she said "ok. Well we close at 6." And opened the door. The checkout experience was just as unprofessional. I'm sad that myself AND my dogs had to encounter these people. They're rude and unprofessional. ** This review earned 2 stars (rather than 0-1) solely due to the woman with the buzzed haircut and glasses in the groomer salon. She was personable, shared with me how the day went, was kind and pleasant to my pets, and kind to me upon my entrance as well. She is awesome and he only saving grace of the location. **Update: back to 1 star today ... Out of sheer desperation for a last minute bath I called back at 2:40 to ask for a bath appointment. On my way to dinner, I drove past this Petsmart and made a quick u-turn to peruse the aisles. Lo and behold, the store was clean! I mean, it wasn't gleaming or anything, but I did not see one cobweb while I was there. Everything was logically placed with the store being divided by type of pet you owned (I saw so many owners with their dogs that it made me wish I had a dog too!) and bright, happy signs to direct you properly. I meandered over to the cat section and saw a bunch of things on sale. I'm a sucker for a good sale and ended up with a few more toys that my kitties didn't need, but would fall in love with (the scratch post/spring loaded ball was a big hit). I was on the hunt for harnesses and leashes for my kitties (they really, really hate to be kenneled in the car) and found a huge selection. They had everything I could ever need for my furry friends with three whole aisles dedicated to food. It was a bit overwhelming since I'm still new at this whole kitty parenting thing, but I regathered my strength and continued looking through the rest of the aisles. The lack of one star was the complete absence of workers. There were two people in the doggie section and one in the small animals section, but no one could be found in the cat section. My dog and I are traumatized after I brought her in for a nail trimming. A certain ruby ring wearing gentlemen leashed my 30lb mini pit to a wall and she ran in place strangling herself while he waited for someone else to help him. My little pups are my life so when I choose to take them to get trained, groomed, or take them to the vet I am extremely picky! My dog and I did puppy training with Sylvia and it taught us great techniques. However, Sylvia goes above and beyond. My fiancé and I recently moved to the Heights but went back to visit her because she was so helpful. She gave us great advise and was very willing to help (even when we haven't done training in over a year)! She remembers us and our little pups. I would highly recommend the training course with her. The grooming is not the cheapest and will not let you take your young puppy in for a nail trimming if it doesn't have a rabies vaccination. But my dog has always looked nice and didn't seem too stressed afterwards. They usually can squeeze in a bath even when booked. I also take my dogs to Bansfield for vaccinations and checkups. They are usually quick and informative. I got the puppy wellness plan for my puppy which consists of $70 initial fee and $26ish a month. I love this location because it's in the best shopping center ever. I can get treats for my cat and then hop next door and get treats for myself at Trader Joes. Also, parking isn't ever really a problem. There's an entrance in the front as well as the back. They carry various brands of pet foods, ranging from high-end (Science Diet) to less expensive options like Purina. The staff is always friendly and helpful. On two trips there, I couldn't find the 8lb bags of pine litter on the shelf and had to call on their staff to bring some from out back. This only happened twice and I guess they took the hint because now it's always plentiful stocked. They have a policy that if your pet doesn't like a product, you can return it and exchange for another item. This is good if your cat is as finicky as mine! My only complaint is that they often have pet adoption days and it's really reallllllly hard for me to resist taking home all of the puppies and kittens. I have to deal with enough with my little diva at home! read more

I wanted to give this location a try. The lowkey attitude some of them carry is just beyond me. I'm patient with them and let things slide. Over the phone, Joshua brushes off every question I just simply needed some reassurance on, and just responds back with "uh so whatever your doctor told you." When he is the one that called and left me a message if I had any questions to call back. Not sure if this guy is new or what, but that is not how you should be addressing a customer. It was quite obvious he wanted to get rid of me. Whether I was asking pointless questions or not, atleast offer to have the doctor give me a damn call back. Haha common sense people. The individuals working here simply expect you to know certain information. That is not how that works. Even when I went to drop of my cat for his appointment; I overhear employees warning others about how a certain customer is, and how rude they can get. I booked a "top dog" bath with Tempest for my long haired dachshund after she rolled in the sand in Galveston. She definitely needed a little extra pampering and Tempest did a great job. She took a little over 2 hours but I would rather her take her time and make sure my skittish dog was comfortable than rush through. This is my favorite pet store to go to because its location. While it looks like there is no parking there is tons in the back! I always approach this store from West Alabama instead of Sheapard so I can get to the nice parking lot without trying to turn left on Shepard. They have a huge selection of pet food and toys. I have found everything I need here for my dog and hedgehog. Everyone seems nice. Their dog food prices seem to possibly be a little lower than other places I have seen. I have also started using this Banfield as my vet (see that review). Missy loves to visit! read more

I've been in this shopping center multiple times, but had never been to this PetSmart until this past weekend. I was looking for seat belt harnesses for the dogs to use in the new ride, and couldn't find them at my local PetSmart. So, I stopped by here on the way to brunch with some fellow Yelpers and low and behold...there they were! And only 2 left in the sizes I needed! It was meant to be! The store on the other hand...not so "meant to be." It's one of the only PetSmarts that I've been to that really smelt like a pet store (eww!). The floors were pretty dingy and it is a little small, but in this area you can't expect a mega pet store I guess? Anyhow, it served it's purpose, but I can't say I'll be back anytime soon. Willie is pleasant and very professional and eager to get Meeyah groomed. He schedule is always perfect, no half a day groom 2.5 hours max! The service promised was delivered and I will be returning. Shay gave my pomeranian the cutest cut for $45! I gave her a well deserved tip for doing exactly what I had asked. I took my Goldendoodle in for a puppy express grooming. First, I had no idea it would take 3-4 hours what could they be doing to my pup for 3-4 hours. I used Haute Pet once and he did everything in an hour or less. But I digress. They knicked my poor dogs testicles. It was a horrible site. It was red and clearly it was itching. The poor thing was rolling in the floor. Ended up having to put a cone on the poor thing for five days. Stay away from this place for grooming services. Go elsewhere. And the groomer didn't say one word! read more

I especially like this store because of their selection of freshwater plants. The tanks are kept so clean and the fish are all active and healthy-looking. I had a great experience at this Petsmart's grooming salon. I was a walk-in to get my pet's nails grinded. He's really nervous about entering the grooming salon and isn't very nice when his nails are cut. The groomer who took him back (immediately, there was no wait on a Saturday afternoon) picked him up and soothed him. I watched through the window after doing a little shopping and he was perfectly behaved during his nail grinding (at least what I saw) and was well taken care of by two groomers. It seemed like they were able to keep him calm and happy which I greatly appreciate and is honestly a miracle. I will definitely be returning to this salon in a few weeks when he needs his nails done -Thanks Petsmart Groomers! read more

I was hesitant to go to a PetSmart for grooming but they are truly fantastic. Our pug gets nothing but the best and I had just had a bad experience at Well Groomed on Kipling so my husband convinced me to check out PetSmart when we went in to look at dogs available for adoption. I reluctantly went in to the groomer because I try to support local business and prefer boutique service. Now I just feel like a jerk because it was the best experience for me and our pug. The staff greeted me and my dog immediately as we walked in (I believe her name is Iris), they asked great questions about him and his health, and they were truly friendly. They also seemed like they also got along great as a crew and I/we immediately felt at ease. When I picked our pug up (at the exact time they said he would be ready even though he didn't like the dryer) he was happy and looked and smelled amazing. In fact, nearly a week and a half later he still looks and feels fantastic AND he seems less sheddy, which is huge for a pug because all they do is shed. We will be loyal customers for the grooming service...his food and treats aren't carried here but that's okay. And an added bonus is going to Trader Joe's next door. It's like a two-fer. read more

Even though petco is closer to my house and exiting PetSmart to return to my house is a nightmare (left on Shepherd) I'll still make this jaunt. I would never have thought to write a review on PetSmart as typically I'm in and out of there just grabbing cat litter/food and the occasional toys. Having recently adopted a pit bull mix from PetSmart however, I find myself there daily. Literally. There is always something I need. They say a puppy will cost you a 1,000 $ in the first year. Take heed. This is no joke. This place has EVERYTHING you could ever want for your pet. I never knew such things existed. If there is a problem, someone, somewhere has created a brilliant workaround device and PetSmart carries it. Go to spot for all things for my Fergie dog!! Well most things! I pick up doggie food here for sure! I enjoy browsing around for pet treats and canned food items. I love that seasonal items are available for pets. This year for Thanksgiving Blue Buffalo had Turducken and for Christmas offered a Santa Stew canned meals. So cute and festive! I only wish these pet stores would get RID of the MADE IN CHINA pet foods and treats! Beware! Look at each label! They are very harmful for title pets. I honestly buy my dog treats next door at TJ. When we left we were charged fir mir bags than received. We MBR back to Manager and she said they would fix today. No call and charge still pending. The staff is beyond nice, I think I got asked 10 times if I could be helped, [but not in an annoying way] and they always give my Charlie the little scratch on the head that he so loves. The store itself is a little on the old side, and somewhat smaller compared to most Petsmarts but they still have a Banfield Vet where I take my puppy, and a groomer, so really it has all you ever needed in an easy one-stop shop! The staff at Banfield Pet Hospital is the best! They treat my puppies like their own and they always take the time to build a relationship with the animals and their owners. They don't force their products down your throat, especially when there are natural or home remedies that can cure your pets ailment. I do not like the way most people have cut my female dog's hair, but when I brought her to Adrian in grooming, SHE WAS CUT PERFECTLY! She even have my big dog a little Mohawk and it was super cute. I refuse to bring them to anyone but her. She's loving and gentle with my puppies & they always come back looking cute as can be. Do your pet a favor & bring them here! read more
