I was very disturbed by the way this young lady treated me and others today. Her name is Brianna and she was on register 1 @4:55. She was holding an extensive conversation with someone as the line started to build up so I stepped out so she could see there were people in line, also behind me. She looked at me and acknowledged me but yet continued her conversation for an additional 5 minutes although the customer that she was speaking to had already paid for her items,. There's no need to continue conversing with someone as a line starts to form and you see many people getting antsy because you are holding up the line. She may need to be retrained in customer service. Myself and a few others found this to be very out of line. I've been coming to this same Petsmart for many years and this is the first time this has happened and hopefully it's the last. The manager on register 2 was very understanding when I explained to her what I had just experienced and she also informed me me that she's had to speak to her about this more then once already. Maybe she's not a good fit with Petsmart being #1 overall in customer service or maybe she's doesn't need to be on a register if she's not familiar with what great customer service really is. Never had to have someone groom my previous dogs before. I have always used PetSmart to buy toys, treats, etc. Since acquiring a golden retriever, we have found the need for grooming and occasional play dates. We have had several instances of very poor, inadequate services. One time her pawdicure resulted in only having her nails cut. Had to bring her back and when I complained, no apology was offered. The grooming salon always looks like a hair bomb exploded. I brought her in for just a bath and blow dry and when I got the bill I was charged extra for a hair trim and pawdicure which I did not want. When I complained and spoke with the manager I was told that those services were in the permission form I signed. Who actually reads those things when I specified only a bath and blow dry ! She took off $15. My dog cannot take flea meds. She has come home twice after a grooming and after a playdate with fleas. They did not come from my yard because both times were in the winter. The play date area is disgusting, and my dog can't wait to get out of there. No one interacts much with the dogs. The person just sits there. Will never go back. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. I didn't leave a review when it first happened because I was so upset and shocked it would've been long winded and completely insulting. I brought my dog in to get groomed, I booked online so I had a space to explain "exactly" what I wanted as far as the cut. I typed it out explicitly...with that description, I also made sure to verbally and in person explain "exactly " what I wanted as well. There was a "minimal" amount to cut as she was growing out. I walked in after 4 hours and she was on the table and CHRIS the groomer was cutting!!!!!! I had told him DO NOT CUT ears, legs or face except eye area. THAT WAS IT!!! He cut EVERYTHING!!! I was so shocked I couldn't stop asking him why he went completely against the instructions even when I had verbally in person and documented in text what was to be done SPECIFICALLY!!! His answer with a smirk on his face: " I didn't want her ears to drag on the floor" as if it were his dog, as if he completely ignored any instruction, as if he had basically no intention of doing what was asked by a client and decided to do exactly what he wanted!!! I called to speak to the manager. She apologized and told me I didn't have to pay. I am not the kind of person that would have walked out on any kind of service even if it's not 100% but I literally know that I wouldn't have paid one red cent for the service which was so blatantly exactly the opposite of what I had asked. I can say with all professionalism from being a business owner if this employee is still working at this Petsmart, not only should he be fired, but the manager as well, from upper tier/corporate..... never in my life have I ever received a service that made me so upset at the exact opposite of the customers precise information and instructions. I've already spent the week on several other platforms to make sure no one goes through what I just went through. I've called corporate several times and expecting a call back, but that has not happened yet. I will keep calling until I get a reply. Once again furious and truly disgusted by PetSmart. First, a couple of months ago, they isolated my poor puppy in a crate for three days when I paid to have 8 hours of play a day for him because he's a pit mix. AND THIS TIME, my family went away for a full week. I had already found alternative boarding for Huck but my parents and brother could not find any in the area in short notice. They boarded their two year old English Cream Retriever, Khali, and my brother's five year old pit/lab, Lucy, at PetSmart in South Huntington. When my brother picked up Lucy, he found out they changed her crate during her stay and lost all of her toys. Since she's a pit, she was crated the whole week alone and now didn't have any toys to play with. There was vomit and urine on her bed that was brought from home. When my parents picked up Khali, she was completely soaked in urine. She smelled like a Penn Station urinal. Her bed was soaked through in urine and they told my parents she hadn't pooped in days. Obviously my parents had them bathe her before bringing home their stressed out sopping wet dog. Below is a picture of how the bed is supposed to look and the urine soaked bed they came home with. I had already made the decision never to use them again for boarding but this sealed the deal for my family. Not to mention they paid hundreds of dollars for these babies to be cared for just to have them neglected like this. It's heartbreaking and a total nightmare for furparents. PLEASE never board your dog there. This was three horrible experiences with three separate dogs. They are obviously neglectful and horrible and should not be trusted with your babies. read more

AVOID THE HOTEL: My dog has stayed here in the past and now I can officially say, never again. The hotel smells like urine and its very understaffed. I wouldn't be surprised if my dog literally didn't get walked, let alone let outside for fresh air at all. My dog is very well trained and came home and peed on my bed! Also her dog bed absolutely stunk of urine, and so did she! I'm very disappointed. They seem like animal lovers but I don't think they give the dogs the time of day. I cant even imagine what her 3 day stay was like. It breaks my heart. I would go to a more mom and pop type boarding. This is way too commercialized and sterile looking. I needed some pet supplies while I was in the area so I stopped into this PetSmart. I was immediately struck with how large and well-stocked the place was. There were supplies and food for any and All Pets. It was great to see this PetSmart also participates in the last hope kitten adoption program. The kitties were all wanted to play.. I almost took another one home. I was happy to see that the animals here were all healthy and happy, I can always tell. I spoke to the manager briefly and discovered they had a female only pet policy here. PetSmart does not offer male animals as pets. I applaud this effort to prevent unexpected breeding accidents..and the.. rush to provide homes for cute unexpected fuzz balls. In addition male animals can have more aggression and odors. I checked out their fish department. They had a wide selection of fish supplies and items to keep your aquarium healthy and beautiful. I checked out their supply of live fish and did not find any floating casualties. I was very happy with this particular PetSmart. I'm usually quite critical of pet stores, as I had previously been in the business for many years. I am passionate about ethical and educated pet stewardship. Since I have had dogs, I often shop at this location for all my dog food products. It wasn't until this year did I understand the dog food aisle selections. They inventory dog food from the left aisle to the right from their best food products to the lesser price products. What I like is that they accept competitive store coupons. What bothered me about this place is that they offer a coupon through a well known application on the iphone, "Retail Me Not." The application specifically is created for users to show the coupon to the cashier and they will be able to scan it to redeem. Sunday I brought my ten dollars off 40 coupon into Pet Smart and the cashier said that I had to print it out. How am I supposed to print out a coupon from an application on my iPhone? I have brought both my dogs to camp and pets hotel many many times, for probably 6 years or so, sometimes for up to a week. I have never had a problem, in fact I've always had a great experience. They personality test every dog so there won't be any aggressive dogs there, and they keep completely updated Vax records to make sure all the dogs are up to date on their vaccines. They always know my dogs by their names and both my dogs are so happy to be there. I tried boarding in private homes or private boarding, but my dog got out once and almost escaped....worst nightmare. That cannot happen at petsmart. There is no way for them to escape. Most importantly, I can tell from my dogs' demeanor as well as from the loving way the staff treats them that they are being so well cared for and loved on. Horrible grooming experience, walked into the grooming area and was greeted like I was bothering them. I dropped 2 dogs off for a 11:45 am appt with 2 different groomers was told about 2-3 hours until I could pick them up went back just before 3 pm, when I asked why dogs weren't ready I was advised it's a 4-6 hour process, in a very nasty tone by Jen. When I again advised that I was told 2-4 hours she asked by who. I pointed to the gentleman and said "he"'she replied, "he who". I pointed to the only man in the room and said Tom. Tom then denied and said 4-6 hours. I have used them before and other groomers and have never gone more then the 2-3 hours. Jens tone and Toms out right denial where unprofessional. As this conversation is happening they were grooming one of the dogs, I asked for my other dog figuring he was done. Tom brought him out and after being there 3 hours hadn't even been touched. No bath, no nail trim nothing. I took the un-groomed dog and indicated I would be back to pick up the other one in 2 hours. I went and spoke with Justin the asst. mgr. and explained the situation and asked to have the store manager call me. Justin was pleasant though he apologized for the salon's unprofessionalism and for the inconvenience. He did tell me that when appts are booked they are really in a block, and they work on first come first serve with a block of time and it could be a 4 hour block. I advised I have a Bernese Mountain dog who had a double coat and even he has never taken 4 hours let alone 2 small 8 pound dogs. Petsmart Doesn't need my 150.00 every few months for grooming and I won't return but wanted to share my awful experience. Elwood Pet Supplies plus has recently opened a grooming salon. Made an appointment several weeks in advance to leave my 6 month old rescue puppy in the Pet Hotel for one night. Upon arrival, my puppy who is skid-dish was hesitant to have their collar around him and growled out of fear. Granted this is a puppy and he has never bite anyone. Automatically the person who was in charge said they can't keep him. I tried to explain that he does have anxiety but if you wait a moment he warms up and trusts. She didn't want to hear it as she was fearful my puppy would put her workers at risk. While I completely understand what I didn't understand was she didn't even try again and more importantly left me without an option on a day that I needed him boarded. I thought theses were professionals? I have a golden doodle who has also been boarded there and has had to be dragged into the hotel and they didn't seem to mind that. During Memorial Day weekend, to pamper my dog while we were away, I booked a day spa to be done while he was at the hotel. At checked in, I made sure to tell the girl that he had an apt for a bath and haircut; she told me, yes, I see it, and told me no to worry, they will be taking care of everything, so I left. On my way back to NY from Maryland, I called the hotel at about 2 pm to remind them again that my dog had an apt and that I will be picking it up at about 7pm. They assured me they would be taking care of everything and that the groomer was taking my dog. Therefore he will be ready for pick up when I get in. I get there; to find out that my dog was never groomed. I was so upset and disappointed so I asked for a supervisor. The grooming supervisor was very unprofessional, didn't take the time to hear what I have to say, and was highly defensive; she keeps blaming everyone and states it wasn't their fault because the hotel never told them that my dog was there. The hotel stated it wasn't their fault because grooming should have come to pick my dog up. So who's fault is it then? Isn't the same people, system, and store? They fell a customer due to their lack of communication and then wash their hands and blamed it on the customer. Very poor customer service. I will not go back there. read more

We've been boarding our two cats here for a little over two years. Rates are comparable to our vet's office, but unlike our vet, PetSmart offers adjoining rooms for siblings. The rooms each have a shelf with a "donut" bed, and of course a small litter box, and food bowls that attach to the wire door. There is a little porthole between rooms that can be opened up (either side-by-side or top & bottom) on request. New clients have to fill out an extensive profile for each pet, and vaccination records are required, but once your pet is set up in their system, subsequent check-ins go pretty smoothly. I like that you can see into the boarding areas from the waiting rooms, and that the cat area is completely separate from the dog runs (keeps it pretty quiet on the cats' side). For dogs, they offer a premium room with a TV, as well as play-time, treat, and grooming add-ons. Cats do get some play-time out of their rooms included with the boarding. They have everything down to a science here, right down to the report card your pet receives upon check-out. A few caveats: * food must be portioned into individual servings for each feeding (this is a new policy and a bit of a pain, though of course it's easier if you use canned food) * if you check out after 12 noon, you must pay an "extended boarding fee" that's almost equal to an extra night. We've always had to pay this and it really sucks. * sometimes you have to wait forEVER to speak with someone on the phone. Parking is plentiful. The staff is friendly and seems skillful at handling both cats and dogs. I just wish PetSmart would locate a PetsHotel in Nassau County or Eastern Queens! read more

I rated this review a one star because my 11 year old Lab Millie survived and I was able to bring her home, or it would be zero stars. She was boarded for one week, with complete labeled containers and packages of food for her consumption. We came home and found three packages of night feeding that were not used. The instructions for feeding medication etc were CLEARLY TYPED but not followed. She was to be groomed at 1245 and then was to be returned to the Pet Hotel for pick up at 730PM. When we landed in New York at 6PM, there was a message on my cell phone from Sandra at 2PM who said, hey Millie is ready for pick up when are you coming to get her. I immediately called the salon and was told that she was still there and I said get her back to the hotel, that was our instructions. When we finally got there, one person was taking care of customers and we could see our dog but waited an hour to finally get her. When I spoke to the staff they said my bill was $589.66, which I foolishly paid and then asked for the detailed report. All i got was the bill he said the paperwork is theirs not mine. In the past, got a breakdown of play time, feeding etc. So the poor dog spent 5 hours in grooming, while we paid for boarding. Her eye medication was supposedly given to her but again no report, her eye is bloodshot and we are going to the emergency center to have her eye checked. Called this morning and no one can really answer the problem other than they are shorthanded. They advised me Gary the assistant manager will call me at 1PM. I told them I want a detailed list of expenses and what occurred and why my dog was left in grooming and not fed. After 10 years of grooming and boarding never had such a problem and referred clients to them. I wish that I had read the other recent complaints before I boarded her there. Rennie M read more

Actually giving it a 3 1/2 Star from the Grooming they gave my puppy. He was a complete mess before but now he looks better. The only issue I have is that his cut is uneven. There are still some long fur sticking out here & there. With the nail Grooming & nail Grinding, the total was $80. Next time I will consider trying a new place to groom him. read more

I wanted to leave a better score, but after the last time I boarded my pup (July 2019), I simply cannot. I have used PetSmart Mamhattan and this location since my pup was 4 months old (FYI Manhattan was always fantastic). This location isn't as warm and friendly, but they'd always taken adequate care of my dog. Here were my issues this time: 1. I told them about a probiotic powder my dog needs at booking, but they said I wouldn't be charged for it (not that I would have cared about an extra $2 per day but whatever). When I picked up my dog, they said I should have been charged for it but they didn't charge me. Again fine. But they failed to mention they took it upon themselves to not give him his powder for NINE of the FOURTEEN days he was in their care (I gave them the exact number of packets he should receive during his stay; there were none extra). No phone call to me. No conversation about it. They, NOT a medically trained vet, decided to not give him his medication. Not ok. Poor pup had loose stool for days. 2. They didn't call me to tell me he had thrown up twice. He never vomits when being boarded. I had to call them both times before they mentioned it. 3. The pets hotel area seemed more dirty than the last time we were there; there was urine and feces on the floor when we walked in and no sign of any other dogs having recently been there (the store was practically empty). Considering I dropped over $750 to board him here for 2 weeks (the typical length of trip when he's boarded), I'd think expecting the staff to pick up the phone and communicate adequately would be a small request that could be met. They have shaken my trust and I'm not sure I feel comfortable leaving my dog here again. Shame because I've been a loyal customer for 7.5 years. Oh well. read more
