The fish section in this store was absolutely horrific. In 90 percent of the tanks half the fish were dead. Literally sitting there collecting bacteria and fungus, fish EATING the dead ones. I occasionally take my Rottweiler lulu for doggy day care but today she really needed her nails cut. I usually take her to the vet but they were busy and I figured I will try PetSmart. The two girls today in the grooming department at 2pm that cut my dogs nails were so patient with her as she struggled to get away. They were both so nice with her !! This review is for Amy's customer service at this location. I came in today with my boyfriend, he and I were buying things for our new fish tank. We were upgrading our tank from a 20 gallon to a 30 gallon. There was a girl named Amy in their fish department, and her attitude disgusted us. Our sucker fish died recently, and we wanted to purchase another one before putting our oscar fish into the new tank (oscars get territorial when new fish are introduced into their habitat, so it's wisest to put the sucker fish in first, and then add the oscar later). Well, Amy refused to sell us a sucker fish because we didn't have enough evidence for her that we "tested the water", basically treating us like we were going to intentionally kill the fish we were trying to purchase. We have had fish our whole lives and treated the water appropriately, and know exactly what we were doing. So now, thanks to Amy, not only do we have to wait and find somewhere else to get the fish, but petsmart has lost a regular customer as well. read more

This is the WORST pet store I have ever been to in my whole life. The staff is horrible and extremely unexperienced. We tried to leave our dog there for boarding this morning. She is one of the sweetest dogs you'll meet. The staff seemed totally uninterested. They were very rough with our dog when trying to get to know her. Our dog is very shy and needs a bit of time to get used to people, but the staff was not understanding of this at all. They dragged her in the back and came back only a few minutes later, saying they couldn't handle her. Don't work in a pet store if you don't like animals. Horrible experience! Other places handled her much better. THIS PETSMART ALMOST RUINED OUR VACATION. (For experienced and animal loving staff, go to K- 9 Center in Ronkonkama for boarding. Brought my dog in around Christmas to be bathed and groomed. He has long hair similar to Australian Shephard. I will say he was overdue for a grooming but I was not happy with the results. I didn't notice until I was home that the hair on his back legs were completely uneven and one leg had significant straggly hair still on it. Some of the hair around his ears was still there as well and that was important to me since I had requested that all of the hair be cut off to avoid the matting. This was more upsetting since I paid $80 for this and it was really not worth that price. I had paid $70 for another groomer and they did a significantly better job. I actually was not going to write a review, just not go back, but they called me offering a discount on my next grooming. I politely informed them that I would not be returning and why and she offered to have someone else groom my dog, I declined and she said well ok and hung up without saying goodbye. Worst grooming salon. Don't ever bring your pet here. They charge you whatever they feel like, and the waiting time is ridiculous. Three hours for a tiny 11lbs. dog. I have always payed $60.00 plus tax and tips for a bath and grooming service at this location. Wanting to save some money, I decided to do the bathing myself and just bring my toy breed dog to the Petsmart, Melville for grooming only. They charged me $53.00, and when I asked about their fee, I was told that "there has been an increase in their fee for certain breeds" I can understand that fees can increase on time but this is simply outrageous. Terrible. I took my 8 month old yellow lab and my brother's 8 month old ridgeback to be boarded here in October for one night for my cousins wedding. When we picked up the dogs the next morning she smelled disgusting and was sedated the whole day (very unlike an 8mo old lab) and day after I picked her up. My brothers ridgeback had peeed on the blanket he left with the staff to put in his room and was smelly and sedated as well. I'm writing this now as I look for places to board my dog for Italy. I feel so guilty for allowing this place to take care of Zoey while I had to travel to Florida for my mum's funeral in August. I paid for every available upgrade available thinking she would be taken care of properly. When I went to collect her they didn't know where she was. I figured out she was being groomed. When they finally brought her out and I took her leash, she immediately dragged me out of the store whimpering and pooping in the aisles. God knows how long she'd been holding that in. She's really good and can hold herself for hours but this was like days had gone by. How very cruel of you. You didn't give a shit about my dog. Bing-bong... clean up on aisle 9. I certainly didn't feel guilty about her shitting in your store. Even the grooming wasn't done properly. Her nails weren't clipped at all and she itched herself to death for 3 weeks after you applied what ever you applied. I usually bring my dog to the Petsmart in Farmingdale but because of my work I brought him to the Huntington location. I picked up from doggy day camp to find him a little stand off ish I brought him home and realized his ear was bleeding. I brought him right to the vet to find out it was clearly a dog bite that punctured his ear. I called the manger at the day camp and she said she reviewed the tape and said my dog sat by himself all day and was not around other dogs! She refunded me my $24.00 and offered me a free day of play. My dog now has a hole in his ear. They would not take responsibility for what happened. read more

This young lady is not only young but her patient's and her professional way of how she handles herself is more than the 5 stars. ALLY is the person you want to speak to. She took the time to help me without becoming short patient. Understanding and meeting my every need and my many many questions to help me with my fish choices. She helped me make all the right choices that was best for me and not what she thought was best in her opinion. Do not board your dog there! Worst experience ever. They turned my dog away the day of boarding. They were unsympathetic even though they error was theirs. They refused my dog and my trip was ruined. The managers are unsympathetic. They have teens working there who are clueless. Customer service doesn't exist. I waited for 10 minutes with no one in the back. I was next on line and the teen decided to check out another customer she knew on a first name basis. I will never go there again. Made an appointment for our puppy for today - Mother's Day, and dropped him off 9 am, we were surprised that they were open that early on a Sunday morning. It took 3 hours like they promised., He came back nicely groomed and smelled so fresh. And most importantly, he was happy when he came out. It was quite a drive from Bayside but it was worth the trip, besides, we had to stop by the cemetery and did a little shopping before we went back to pick him up. The store was clean but they were busy with two staff...yeah, you might wait a little while to drop off or pick up your pets depending on how many people in front of you. I gave four stars since they did a nice job grooming and the price was very reasonable - less than $40; I noticed the previous review, she paid $80. They priced differently for the length and size of dog, so ask when you make the appointment. We will come back for sure. read more

I love PetSmart. It's my dogs second home from boarding to daycare to grooming! I recently had my dog groomed by Chrissy A. She is an amazing groomer! She listens to my requests and follows through. I will not groom my dog anywhere else, she is my go to person! As for the hotel, I trust the hotel with my dog. She has been going since 9 months old, she's 10 years old now. She loves it there, she's a regular there once a week. Also, I do not hesitate to board her if we are going away. I recommend PetSmart for all your needs! read more

My dog looked good after a week stay and I even recommended the place. So one year later, I put my dog again in for a 2 week vacation. After that, my dog is not the same anymore... she keeps trying to hide herself under my desk, behind the toilet bowl etc for weeks.... It has been months now... it got better but occasionally she still tries to hide under my desk. She have never done that before. They might need more careful screening of people working with the dogs. read more

Went to get my dog groomed my appointment was for 3pm I CALLED to ask if I can come earlier at 2, I was told yes. When I brought my dog in the lady at the desk told me "the girl was on break and will be back in 20 mins and bc your only getting a puppy grooming he will be done in 2 hours." I went back at 430 and the lady Jen who was now at the desk was very rude telling me my dog wouldn't be done till 6 bc my original appointment was at 3, knowing I called to bring him earlier. She was very unpleasant and has a terrible attitude. I will NEVER bring my dog back to this groomer. To top it all off my dog looks like he has a flat head bc she only decided to cut in one area. We bought a Guinea Pig from this PetSmart in May. On July 4th she had three babies!!! This from the "female only" Huntington store. I tried everything to find them homes on my own, but no takers. So I called PetSmart to ask them to take the babies and display them for adoption. I would buy a cage and all supplies for each. The reply was "No, that's not our policy. Try PetCo." Well, I will. We usually use the farmingdale location for day camp and boarding when needed however farmingdale was booked for our last min trip but they said this location had a spot now I know why! As soon as I walked In to the store it was dirty but when I got to the hotel part was even worse Urine all over the place and poop and when an associate was told the answer was that's not my responsibility.. so I was told to come in just watch out for the urine! So reluctantly I had to leave her there as I had to leave for a day and could not take her! Picked up my dog 24 hours later Sunday 630pm Monday and tues my dog was sick diarrhea took her to the vet and she had gotten a bacterial infection from drinking dirty water! After a week of antibiotics and probiotic powder and special diet she is all better but will never be returning there this place needs some serious attention I paid 80.00 for her stay with doggie day care and then her vet bill on top of it totally not worth it the associates are not even friendly don't even seem to wanna be there get it together people read more

I was at PetSmart on route 110 in Huntington today with a friend and her 12 1/2 year old German Shepherd dog "Shomie". Shomie laid on the floor while her mom and I chatted. Shomie could not get up because of her hips and she was sliding on the tile floor. We were right outside the grooming window. I knocked on the glass and a groomer with "Emily" on her name tag looked at me. I asked if she had a mat I could place under Shomie so she could stand. Emily looked at Shomie struggling to get up and rolled her eyes at me !! I asked her a second time for a mat and, rolling her eyes again, she motioned with her thumb towards the Banfield hospital. Emily then shook her head and began flipping through her paperwork . When I reported her to the manager the manager's response was "you better get her home. The floor is too hard here". What the heck kind of response was that !!! Is Petsmart not senior friendly? They should be !! read more
