Have taken my dog to Petsmart at least 3 times before. Descent work. Nothing horrible. This time work done by Daisy. Couldn't even tell he'd been brushed and bathed. I went to PetSmart to look around. I noticed how filthy the aquariums looked. I was so disappointed. It made me sad for the fish, as a fish keeper myself. I asked, who I believe was a manager, about the dirty water. She didn't answer me, so I kept looking. There were dead fish sucked onto the filters. There were dead fish floating. There were dead fish being eaten by other fish. It was horrible. I didn't want to go see the condition of the beta fish, as I would be more disappointed. You are in the business of selling pets. These are living creatures. If you can not keep up with the care of these living animals/mammals, etc... stop selling them. read more

I only took my fur baby here because my regular groomer wasn't available and I was desperate,,,I asked for a teddy bear face, didn't get that. He came home with a horrible haircut, bad razor burn and a week later ended up with a bad ear infection/fungus to his right ear. Never again! read more

If I could give them ZERO stars I would. DO NOT GET YOUR ANIMAL GROOMED HERE. My persian cat Hendrix has gone to this Petsmart to get groomed a couple of times, however this last time they treated him like complete garbage. Upon arrival they charged me as per usual, before seeing the results. I asked for the lion cut, which is something Hendrix usually gets. An EXPERIENCED groomer will tell you then and there whether or not they can cut his hair, but they just took him in. When Hendrix got picked up he looked extremely traumatized and upset, and I took a look at him and realized his cut was incomplete. I asked the groomer why they hadn't cut him correctly and they said because he was "difficult" therefore they needed three people to get the job done. They needed three people to do an incomplete job? They failed to cut the long hair around his ears, did not clean his paw area correctly nor did they cut it. Did not clean his eye area where he accumulates eye boogers, and last but not least, THEY LEFT OPEN CUTS on different parts of his body. If you believe you can't cut a cat's hair, DO NOT PROCEED to mess him up! I obviously called and complained and they stated that his hair was matted and that next time he needs to get sedated for a hair cut. Hendrix has never had an issue or a complain when he gets a cut, I believe this was the groomer being extremely awful. They refunded me for the service however i've spent over $400+ on vet visits and medication because they basically left him there to die. The manager told me "we will refund you for the service but don't ever bring your car back here again" I just want to add that Hendrix' fur, prior to the appointment, is/was extremely soft and non-problematic, so their excuse is extremely unacceptable. Attaching all pictures to show you the lack of a "good cut" and the wound they left him that is OPEN and gushing blood. EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE. Extremely disappointed with how they treated my cat and how they attempted to "brush off" their actions, my cat is in PAIN now and who knows how much more money I will be paying to get him healthy again. Please notice all my reviews and verify that I am not a constant complaining writer...but I just had to write this one..... Horrible place to bring your pups to for any kind of work. I called for an appointment Friday and they told me my pup had been anxious the past time I brought him and they couldn't take him in on busy hours....to please bring him Saturday at 8:30am. So I bring my pups at 8:30am Saturday and they get rejected!!! They tell me my dogs are to not be accepted because they struggle to work on them. Not only did they make me come all the way from Pharr by "booking an appointment" at 8:30 in the morning, but they refused to work on any of them because they have too many pups to work on. SO WHY DID YOU BOOK ME THE DAY BEFORE!?!?!? This is just plain unprofessional! The staff is horrible and don't seem to care about your pets at all. First time we brought our dog, they forgot to clean his rectum...so we noticed and asked for someone to simply wipe it down before we left. The girl attending us grabs a wet towel, yanked our pets tail upward, and roughly started to wipe his rectum...! My pup looked at me with such pain in his eyes I had to tell the lady to ease up. I think if you don't care for pets, don't apply for jobs like these where it takes someone with a "heart" to fulfill the service of pet grooming. Quite simply, save yourselves some time, money and headaches...PLEASE DON'T bring your little ones to this horrible place. Try mom-n-pop places where they really want your business. read more

Took my 2 dogs into this petsmart and when I picked them up the groomer told me they when she was grooming one of my dogs she cut the pads of her front feet . It was such bad cuts that she had to take her to there vet banfield. They glued the pads of her feet. When I told her she should of called me all she said was "I was busy checking someone in" pretty poor business if no one in the salon called me. I will never use this groomers again. When my dog was a puppy he was supposed to get his nails trimmed and they "couldn't do it" I think it was just laziness. Now as an adult they did trim his nails and messed them up. Now with the merch this is the second time I buy a collar at this store and they forget to take the security tag off. I will no longer shop here. I went to this petsmart specifically buy a fresh pet product for my pet. This food is kept in a fridge. When I went to the "freshpet" fridge, one of the doors was off and they had taped plastic up, which was falling down and not keeping the product cool. I could tell that all of the product in there was spoiled, yet they continued to sell this tainted merchandise. This could and probably did hurt someone's pet. The cashier, when I mentioned this problem, seemed to shrug off my concerns. read more

The staff is very friendly and ready to help you. Many, if not all, of them are pet owners themselves and are happy to help you find what you need for your pets. The store is always clean even though they allow dogs to come in with their families. We like this PetSmart very much! read more

I adopted a cat from this PetSmart and she is very sweet. After a day I noticed a problem with her health. The hospital at the store had no concern and wouldn't fit her in to see the vet. Well, I finally took her to another local animal hospital and they were great. The cat had parasites, an eye infection and heart worms. It is obvious this cat was neglected because of the medical conditions they diagnosed. Cinderella Pet Rescue who placed the cat at PetSmart also did not care. I notified them of the health issues with this cat and they have not responded. Don't adopt animals at PetSmart if they are through Cinderella Pet Rescue. The staff at the animal hospital was awful to deal with and very argumentative. It was hard to believe these were people dealing with pets. I will never go there for any type of service. I don't care how good the vets are here, staff is awful and that is what makes or breaks a practice or service provider since they are your first contact. read more

They mistreat animals badly! I took my pets here to get their hair cut and nails trimmed. On my schnauzer, they shaved him so close to the skin on some parts he is missing hair! They tried trimming the hair on his genitals and they snipped some skin because hen he came home there was blood it. He was very annoyed and very scared in the place and as soon as I went to pick him up he wouldn't stop crying. When I was looking at him a little later he had a good sized tick sucking blood from his back! My other little dog, a Japanese chin, got her nails cut way too short. She was bleeding all the way home and was very scared. Now whenever I bring my dogs here, they are absolutely terrified of being there. I have a very good suspicion they behind the closed doors, they mistreat the animals or else my dogs would be okay coming here. It's obvious the groomers here don't care about the animals and are only in it for the money. For the safety of your pets, take them elsewhere because this place should be shut down! read more

Only way to describe grooming would be horrible. First off I didn't realize that it takes 15 minutes just to take in my dog. Secondly when you tell me that you are going to call and tell me he's ready, do what you say you are going to do. Not calling me at 7:17 saying he's going to stay overnight and you are going to charge me extra. Poor customer service. And when I do go pick up my corgi the job they did on him was a complete joke. His brushing wasn't even close to a mediocre standard. Not going to waste my time here next time. read more

pets mart 420 e expressway 83, mcallen, tx 78503. where do i begin... my daughter went to buy some food for our puppy and when we opened up the bag there were live crawling maggots! i called the store right away and spoke with erica (with no last name) she did not feel comfortable giving her last name. is what she said and shes supposed to be the manager in charge at the time of my call. i told her that it would take me a few mins to get to the store since i live on the other side of town and she said "well we close at 9" i told her i might be there at about 9:05 and that someone needed to be waiting. we got to the store before 9pm erica was no where in sight she was in the back that is what we were told. someone else helped us. she grabbed another bag of the same food and guess what???!!! live maggots! so she grabbed another bag but smaller in size and this one did not have live maggots in it. we still got charged for the smaller bag and refunded the differance from the live maggot bag! my daughter posted on twitter what happened and someone reached out to her and said that they were sorry to hear what happened and that they would talk to erica with no last name. that is all. nothing else. nothing about the food being expired. nothing about the live crawling maggot in the bag. nothing about the other bag having live maggots in it... nothing. petsmart...is supposed to be a top of line pet store and they are selling expired products. maybe they are doing this to get our pets sick and then expect for us to take them into the vet so they can profit off of the families and make double.. who knows.. but this is unacceptable and it needs to be address. i will write and email to the pet food company and let them know that petsmarts is selling their product expired and causing animals to get sick. this is the just the beginning. read more

I take my two MaltesePoodles there every two weeks and they do an excellent job of bathing grooming and cutting their hair. They are busy and it takes time to drop off and pick up. That's my only complaint .... but the old reviews are no longer applicable. They treat my pets well. My dogs are happy to see them and have always looked great after their visits.
