Petsmart grooming discriminates against dogs with curly/kinky hair (Poodles) This is the 3rd time, a different Poodle they refused to groom because of kinky or curly hair. On the first occasion, they accepted the poodle upon the Manager's request. When I picked up my dog he had been shaved and was told not to bring on Saturdays. Same situation not on a Saturday. They claim standard poodles are too much work and if it's not an early appointment they can't do the groom. I asked why dont you charge more and give good service? Today I go to the Flagler store in Miami. I had my appointment for my poodle puppy of 8 months. Her hair is wavy not curly or matted. I asked to shave in most areas since we are in Miami and leave nice top-notch paw poms which were already started. Denise, as rude as could be, immediately looked for reasons to shave the entire dog. Denise called her manager and I showed her that you could comb through the head. I explained that the dog's hair was wavy and not matted. I showed Denise's manager and she agreed she could do the paw poofs. Denise complained that she only had 2 hours allowed per dog and she could not finish in time. The manager turns to me and says, " Oh no we can only shave her with a 10 and grow it out. I asked if the dog is matted as you claim how are you going to insert the blade? It will not go through matted hair. Denise responded for a third time, you should go to another groomer we can't groom your dog. These new employees are not old enough to be using a shaver, much less speaking to clients who pay their salary. Petsmart discriminates Poodles with curly hair. Petsmart grooming should not advertise they groom poodles if they are going to kick you out because your dog has curly hair. They did not have a higher-up available until 2:30pm. Albert called me offered a 50$ coupon and apologized. However, the way Petsmart and Denise treated my dog and me was a disgrace to customer service and the grooming industry. Worst experience with grooming EVER. These people are rude, condescending, and gaslight the hell out of you. Just for some background: I have a year and a half old corgi. He's an indoor dog. He gets groomed every month religiously, bathed by me in between grooming appts, AND he takes flea and tick preventatives EVERY 3 months. He's never missed a grooming appointment and he's NEVER missed a dose of the preventatives. I take him to get groomed here by Mayra. I get there and they tell me Nicole is going to groom him. Fine, doesn't matter to me. I drop him off at 1:30pm. I get a call at 2:37pm saying that they found 2 adult fleas on him. Obviously I'm a little shocked because I've done everything to prevent that. Nicole asks me if I want her to bathe him again with flea and tick shampoo. I tell her yes and we both wonder if maybe he picked up the two fleas outside before I brought my dog in, maybe who knows. At 3:57pm I call wondering what's going on or if he's ready to pick up. Mayra answers the phone and tells me that the flea and tick treatment take longer, then she proceeds to tell me in Spanish that my dog "está infestado." Now I'm even more shocked!! INFESTED!? What do you mean infested?! Nicole told me it was 2 fleas. She tells me that she's not the one working on him so she doesn't really know. I can hear her talking to Nicole in the background who assures her that it's only 2 fleas. After they confirm that, I ask them to please call me when they have about 15 mins left so I can pick up my dog. I tell them that I don't want him sitting in the kennel and possibly get more fleas. I don't know where he got the fleas from. I don't know if there's a possibility that another dog in there has fleas or if the kennels are clean. They tell me that the kennels are clean and that he couldn't have gotten the fleas there. I tell them okay, just call me when you have 15 mins left. A few minutes later, I decide to just drive over there because now I'm just worried. There's NO WAY IN HELL that my dog has fleas... I would've found them before they did. My dog sleeps with my husband and me. Don't you think we would know if he had fleas? We would be scratching ourselves. Not to mention my dog would be scratching also. I get there and my dog isn't even on a table!!! He's in the kennels!!! Where I told them I didn't want him to be. I waited a few minutes to see if they were going to bring him out, nothing. I go in and Ignacio asks me who my dog is. I say my dogs name and he asks who the groomer for my dog is. Nicole rolls her eyes and sounding bothered says "he's mine." When she sees me standing there she tells him "you know he's mine, I've said it a million times." I ask her if she's finished the flea and tick treatment. She tells me she's finished the shampooing but she was waiting on his paws to dry up. I tell her "okay, I'll just take him now. I don't want him in those kennels. I don't know where he got the fleas." Mayra and the other older lady begin to rudely tell me that he didn't get the fleas there. That the kennels are clean and they offered to let me go back there to see them. I told them I didn't want to see them that I just wanted my dog. They then tell me that he had a lot of fleas. I tell them "a lot of fleas!?!? First I'm told he has two fleas, then I'm told he's infested, then 2 fleas, now you're saying he had a lot!?" The older lady and Mayra continued to try to argue with me saying he didn't get them there. I had to tell them "I'm not going to keep arguing. I just want my dog." Nicole comes out with my dog. It looks like all that was done was that he was bathed. I don't even care at this point. I get in my car and check my dog. I spent 30 mins digging through his coat, not one flea... if he had "a lot" of fleas, I would've found at least one after a bath. Fleas are not that easy to get rid of. I take my dog home and he RUNS to his water bowl. It seems that my dog was sitting in a kennel for hours with no water either. NEVER AGAIN. read more

This review is regarding the GROOMING only. What really kills this place is the customer service that they provide during the whole process. They are rude, and always want to upcharge every single thing they do to your dog, as if it is not included in the package you are already paying for. Both my dogs get haircuts from a mobile groomer now because the last time i took my maltese here he came out with uneven hair and they charged me way more than the mobile grooming. Plus they treat humans bad, i cant imagine how they treat poor defenseless dogs... With that being said the one thing i like about this grooming option is how easy and convinient it is to book from the app on your phone. You can even pay so that all you have to do is pick up your furball. Today I took my maltese for a bath and brush and he smelled good and felt good which is the reason for the three stars, but if it wasnt for the coupon that was sent to me, this wouldnt even be an option to be honest. I've always come to PetSmart for my baby's supplies and needs especially for this grooming. In the last 2-3 years I've finally found my favorite groomer Belkis. Not only is she the sweetest but the way she styles and cuts my Yorkies hair is perfect. In terms of yorkies, there's many ways to cut their ears and their body hair. Everyone has a desired cut and Belkis definitely keeps that in mind. She always asks me specific questions so she knows exactly what we'd like and I love that. read more

I just left the groomers. This is the second time with the groomer Belkis shaves my dog. She claims that she had a lot of knots which it false. I comb her sickle brush, regular brush and a comb daily. We agreed to cut off a bit the most 1/2. She shaved my dog down. She also said her hair will grow back in a week. Her saying this really upset me. The hair won't grow back in a week. She's a golden doodle it will take 5-7weeks for hair to grow half of it back. Groomer should have called before hand making the executive decision to shave my dog. I tried to give her a second chance. But clearly didn't deserve it. My suggestion is if a large dog is too much please don't take them as an appointment. She left the top of my dog's head hair uneven like you can see there big chunk of hair cut out. The face was not trim nor styled. If anyone goes to this store book your appointment with the younger groomers. If you have go with the older groomers make sure bring in notes, express exactly how you want your dog to be style and if they must call if they are going to shave them down. Management: please have your groomers especially older groomers to be kind to our pets because while I was waiting for my dog the other groomer that was there, her patience was exhausted by the pet she was cutting their hair. Truly I'm disappointed by the service especially after dishing out 145 for a bath and haircut. Only for the hair to be almost completely shaved off, truly upsetting. I just came by for a prescription at Banfield. Was just standing there waiting for my turn while observing the groomers. I personally witnessed a groomer yank a Yorkie by its ear to get it to be still and behave. I was so outraged, I asked for the Manger, Maria, and told her what I had just seen. Her reply was, "Well he doesn't stay still". I told her that if I would have witnessed her doing that to my dog, both of their jobs would be the line because I would have complained to Corporate. Terrible service !!! My chihuahua peanut is 14 years old and he went for just a bath and brush but when I got there the lady asked me for the vaccination records. I informed her that his vet took away the shots because of his age and medical conditions. I then provided the vaccination exception letter my vet gave me and his rabies tag ID. But the lady turned me away and told me they need the shots. It's not our fault that my dog aged and the vet took away his shots. They didn't care. So apparently once your fur baby gets old and the vet takes away the shots they are not welcome in PETSMART grooming ever again. It's very sad and I feel very discriminated against because my dog is old and in his golden age. Never going there again. It's upsetting and heartbreaking that my baby got turned away because he got old. read more

They have it all for your pets. Staff is friendly, and there's always someone around to help you. Plenty of parking in the shopping center. They have markers on the floor for social distancing. Prices are a little high on some items but it is convenient cause they have a lot of choices on everything. read more

Terrible experience. Will never bring my puppy for grooming again. Had an appointment and was there 15 minutes before. It was the first time for my puppy. They kept him 2 hours inside a cage while they groomed two adult dogs before him. I had to wait 2 1/2 hours. They only spent 30 minutes with my puppy. No consideration for your time, no respect for the appointments. Why make any??? When I took him out of there, he was lethargic and showed no emotions. He had never been kept in a cage for so long. They should have special considerations for puppies who are less than 5 months and not treat them like adults specially if you made an appointment. Don't bring your young puppy there. This is the first and last time I visit that place. Horrible!!! read more

Grooming service sucks. The one by Kendall is leaps and bounds better than this. Waited three and a half hours for two dogs. The dogs don't smell good, they didn't spray perfume. A ton of other dogs left with nice bandanas and bows. But I guess they didn't like my dogs so they didn't get "special treatment". Spent 100+ dollars and never coming here again. This PetSmart is the absolute worst. There is never anyone in the fish section. The staff Will see you waiting but they'll just walked right by you and not even ask if you need any help. I LOVE this PetSmart ! There was only one time when one of the employees didn't allow me to hold the Chinese water dragon. I have a land tortoise and my boyfriend has a bearded dragon and two leopard geckos. We are thinking about getting a Chinese water dragon but we know they need a lot of maintenance. I came to this location again to purchase super worms. I was three minutes late but they had let me in so I can purchase food for my reptiles. A few weeks ago I came again and this guy let me hold the Chinese water dragon. He was so nice he even got into detail on how to keep them well kept. I went there today to purchase food for my reptiles once again. This time I saw this pretty looking single horn worm and he educated me on how to feed it to my boyfriends bearded dragon. The only beef I would have with this particular shop would be the traffic in the parking lot. Even when it is in the morning when it isn't "busy" the parking lot is kind of hard to maneuver. Having said that, I actually have not had the bad experiences that some fellow Yelpers have. It has never been difficult to find any item I have needed and checkout has always been pretty painless. I was waiting for someone to bring me information I had asked for at the vets office and watched the groomers in action. Tons of little doggies were being groomed and I noticed they actually were very kind and patient with the dogs who were none too happy. Good thing I got my info from the really nice girl at the Vets pretty soon since I was really close to adopting a kitten at the rescue there. I already have three pets, so their expediency was good. Came to buy Guinea Pig hay which was in stock. Of course a trip to PetSmart requires walking around and looking at animals. We saw a guinea pig that was up for adoption for free because he was "mean". I asked to hold him and the manager (tall guy) was super helpful and opened up his cage and let me hold him. Super cute but yea he was a mean guinea so I didn't take him home. Besides that everyone was helpful. The store was packed and lots of traffic around the area. read more

This is a review of the curbside pickup that is offered during the COVID-19 crisis. Can I just say that I hope this service continues on even after we resume life as we used to know it... Target has been doing Drive Up for some time now and it's been amazing. I digress. This was a decent experience. There is a sign posted outside that has the phone number for the store, which you call, and then Press 0. You tell them your name and what you ordered, and someone comes out with the stuff. I was on hold for a short time. It was unclear whether I was supposed to actually park or just pull up to the loading area right in front of the doors... so I parked in the lot, and when I saw the guy come out carrying the 50 lb bag of food, I thought it would be better to move my car out front. I opened the trunk and he placed everything inside. I didn't have to show ID or anything. Overall, not bad, and I prefer having someone else lug around the massive bags of food! read more

The grooming services was just awful. Super rude. I took my puppy for the first time and the lady was super rude. His nails were trimmed way to short. My puppy was in distress when I went to pick him up, and he is an extremely playful puppy. They don't care about the animal. I called and asked if they had hamsters and I was told by a female employee they did and that they had different kinds of hamsters. I drove 30 mins to get there. Upon getting there I didn't see any on display. I asked a guy who was replenishing the shelves if he could help me to find out if they had any available. He didn't even make eyer contact nor stopped doing what he was doing to acknowledge us and be helpful. He just said "Oh what you see is what we have". I told him we had called and we were told they had many different kind of hamsters. To what replied "Well there was a lot of people buying hamsters before"... the place was empty, and I doubt there were lines of people buying hamsters. I walked away since this guy was beyond unpleasant and unwilling to help. I asked Gaby at the cashier if she could help us. She said that they did have hamsters and they were on display. I went back and couldnt see any and told her that there were none. I decided to call the store while being at the store myself and Gaby answered the phone. I asked her if they had hamsters and she said they did and even told us again the kind of hamsters they had available. I approached Gaby again and explained her that I had driven 30 mins to the store because she had told me they had hamsters, I told her that the guy at the back was unwilling to help and that she had for a second time told me over the phone they did have hamsters. I expressed my disappointment telling them that there was some level of incompetency going on because no one seemed to know what they had available or was willing to walk with me and help me. Gaby became so mad and aggressive to me and my girlfriend saying "You guys shouldn't even be buying such a boring pet during a pandemic, you will for sure get bored of it within a week." I told her her statement was ridiculous and she walked away calling a manager... the manager was the useless unhelpful guy who we engaged when we first entered the store. He had no apology and all he did was to find one hamster for us (if he had found it at first none of this would have happened, but his unwillingness caused all of this). He gave us a rude and condescending attitude while boxing the hamster and not offering any additional products or to answer any questions. We left with a very bitter taste from their location. I stick to the location in Midtown where staff is always delightful. Seriously I hope corporate office will read and investigate further because treating clients this rudely and making statements on how boring is a pet is beyond disappointing. Hit or miss. I own aquariums so any time i go here, it is for aquarium-related issues. Pros of this place: 1, Management (not to be confused with 'staff') is great. 2. Good variety of aquarium-decorations. 3. Good variety of fish, given that this is not a fish-specialty store. 4. In my opinion and experience, i like them better than Pet-Supermarket. Cons of this place: 1. While helpful when you find them, staff is difficult to find if you have questions regarding something. 2. Some of the aquarium-related merchandise (mostly decorations) can be a little pricy. prices are competitive to other chain-stores, but quite frankly most of this stuff is way-cheaper on Amazon, for example. 3. My heart goes out to those poor little Betta-fish that they keep in small cups on a shelf. I've found some dead ones on occasion. I know this happens in other places like Walmart or Pet Supermarket... but it is what it is. 4. Only 2 registers? And sometimes one is closed? Come on! read more

My boyfriend forced me to go buy his dog some silly outfit and I found myself coming here. The store was in dire need of restocking and organization but I was able to find what I needed. I decided to also try out a new type of dog food and stocked up on some dry food for MuttDog along with matching treats. I found myself at the register with an overpriced bed, a dog sweater that was on sale yet the coupon was ripped so they decided not to honor it, and some hipster dog food for this ungrateful dog that I don't even like. If the store had been cleaner, I think my shopping experience would have been better. The fact that they didn't honor the sales price was annoying but I didn't feel like holding up the line over a few bucks so I just paid the full price. Overall, I can't say I'd return. I told my 7 year old daughter to ask for 60 crickets for her new pet. I trusted the young man working there to serve her like any body else and left to look for another item. When my daughter came to me... I knew there was some crickets missing! l told him! that there was some crickets missing. and he told me that he counted them. So I paid and left. I got home to feed my 10 geckos - 6 crickets to each of them. But, the guy only give us 47! total. I call.. to let them know and they hanged up on me! read more

While I was out shopping today I happened to see the big PetSmart sign and figured it wouldn't hurt to stop and look around. While looking at the Guinea-Pigs I asked one of the employees if she could help me she showed me a Guinea-Pig that was obviously hogging the food (she's a chubby one) she told me she had been returned cause they couldn't take care of her I held her for a good half hour while the employee (Gaby) helped me gather everything I needed to take care of my new Guinea-Pig. She was nice enough to go and grab me a chart she even helped place the cage inside it . Gaby was welcoming and very helpful she took her time and made it a good and easy experience. I recommend this location I have lived in the area for years and have shopped here for all my pet needs with a wide variety to choose from. read more

I've visited this store quiet frequently lately, mostly to use the hospital facilities which I will review later. The store itself is pretty spacious and has a lot of products for dogs. I have met one of the trainers, her name is Rebecca and she is soo nice, knowledgeable and willing to help! When I first got my pooch, she guided me towards the products I needed for him which was great, knowing that this is my first pet and I was completely lost. Overall a good experience. read more

This review is ONLY for the grooming department!!! I really love the grooming staff at this petsmart location. Manuela, one of he groomers, is the only person I let groom my dog and the only groomer my dog actually tries to settle down for. He usually cries at the groomers since he hates cages and hates water but with Manuela he actually behaves even if he still cries a bit. Anyways, I highly recommend all the staff at this pet grooming salon. read more
