I have been buying cat food from Petsmart for quite a while now. Usually I'll go to whatever location is closest to me at the time but after the fantastic experience I just had at this particular location I don't think I will shop anywhere else. I purchased a bag of cat food yesterday but was disappointed when they didn't have the one I usually get. We get an all life stages cat food because we have a young cat and a senior cat. They needed food so I just grabbed the one most similar. I received an email survey last night and stated that the kind I usually purchase was not available. I just received a phone call this morning, I'm assuming it was the manager, very nice and very politely stated that they were redoing that brand and had been moving things around. Long story short the kind I usually get was just on a different shelf on another aisle. She then offered to put a bag on hold for me and said I could pick it up with for no charge. It's a small thing but it made me feel important and that they valued my opinion and my business. read more

I came into this store looking for a new dog food because my dog wouldn't eat his anymore. I was asked if I needed assistance by Stephanie an employee who walked me through almost every brand the store has! She was great and had so many good tips to try and get him to eat! She has so much experience with dogs and other animals I wish every employee was as knowledgeable as her and as caring! It's hard to find someone with such a passion for animals! Bottom line I will be returning to this store to inform Stephanie that cooper loves his new food and continue to shop there! read more

Very disappointed by PetSmart today. Purchased a cloth cone for my dog who had emergency surgery this morning. Upon coming home and opening the taped box I found the cone not only had dirt and dog hair but blood on it!! I took it back to the store within about 40 minutes. I asked for the return to be expedited due to the fact that they had no others in stock. I explained my dog was at home and needed the product immediately. Honestly don't remember if I got a receipt but because I didn't have one she would only offer store credit for a product they didn't have and I needed immediately!! They say that they're all about pets but it is dangerous and neglectful to sell a product to be used post-surgery that has bodily fluids and I was extremely disappointed that they wouldn't do what they needed to do to take care of my pet read more

I walked in to this Petsmart a little after 9a where I was greeted at the front door by an employee that asked me if I needed any help. I showed her a picture on my cell phone of a specific thermometer I needed for my daughter's science project. Knowing exactly where this random item was in the store, she walked me to the item, made sure it was the correct item I needed and rang me up. I was in and out of the store in under 3 minutes. We brought Lucy for a hair and nail cut with a 10am appt. Needless to say, Lucy was not ready until 4:30pm. We received a call from a nonchalant Petsmart employee, notifying us that Lucy has been sent to the vet! The groomer shaved off her dew claw and they couldn't stop the bleeding. Understanding that accidents do happen- the way we received the call was unprofessional which drove us to writing this review. The Veterinarian (not affiliated with Petsmart) was very nice and professional. Lucy is currently on antibiotics and will need follow up appt. to ensure the cut is not infected. Apparently, to remove dew claws properly-it has to be surgically removed. read more

Took my Audi( mini poodle) here to get her face shaved for $6. I'm hesitant to use a chain groomer but unfortunately the wonderful grooming shop I take Audi to doesn't do face shaving. They were able to squeeze me in before closing time for the quick job. Audi required two groomers to shave her face. :P The groomers did a good job with her face but I didn't like how they were trying to push me to choose their grooming salon over the other grooming shop. I am very happy with my main groomer but I will return for Audi's face shavings. read more

I have to give credit to the store help here. I came in the other day and my food was out of stock on the shelf. An associate asked me if I needed anything and went the extra mile to check in the back to find the LAST bag!!! My puppy has a sensitive stomach and so I was so grateful!!!! I took my beloved German Shepherd in to be bated and brushed. He was frightened and very unsure of what was happening. My dog and I had just lost our best friend, my husband. I am really disappointed in this location specifically the Grooming Department. We usually go here to get our German Shepard and Terrier groomed and they usually do a decent job except for this last time we brought them in. After I picked up my dogs and got home I realized there was blood all overy back seat when I went to check the dogs paws my German Shepard's paw was gushing blood. They had cut her nails WAYYY too short, and as a dog owner I am aware that this happens sometimes and usually isnt a big deal except this time it was. We had wrapped my dogs foot all day to stop the bleeding and it continued so we had to take her to the vet for an emergency check up (which isnt cheap). The vet then had to sedate our dog and give her pain meds/antibiotics and had to close the wound. After a $200+ vet bill we had gone back to the groomers amd explained what had happened...and the groomers told us that it wasnt bleeding when they cut the nails so its not their problem and there is nothing they can do for us....ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? First of all I dont care what the situation is you should NEVER talk to a customer like that. Im not one for complaining but the way we were treated and all of the stress my poor dog had to go through was not worth the $80 grooming fee plus the $200+ vet fee...I will NEVER bring my dogs here to get groomed again! read more

This is the last time we will use the pet grooming salon at PetSmart in Roseville. My small dog's grooming took 4.5 hours. Past visits were 2.5 to 3 hours. Also, my dog apparently got cut too close to his butt or was burned by the person who groomed him. When we got home he would walk 10 feet and then sit down; he repeated this all day long. We could not see anything there but this has never happened before. My wife and I felt the staff were disrespectful and rude. We will be using someplace else in the future. read more

Rude Staff! I went in for a simple item. A bag to transport my beta fish in while moving. The lady at the door (the greeter) immediately started giving me attitude. Without even looking said "No, we don't have those." And continued on with crap like "If you put your fish in a bag he won't last an hour." CLEARLY she's never seen a fish being transported because you fill the bag with a little water and leave over half of the bag with oxygen in it. So I don't understand why she wouldn't even look when she had no clue what I was talking about. I tried explaining and she just kept saying "nope don't have em." So what do you guys put your fish in when someone buys them? No sense. So I left without looking because I sure didn't want to buy from a place that the employees don't have a clue what you're looking for or how to treat a customer nicely. I asked very happily and once I caught on to her attitude, I left. Went to PETCO down the street. Lovely people gave me a bunch of aquatic bags for FREE. WITH A SMILE ON THEIR FACE. I wanted to go back to Petsmart and shove it in her face, but I thought this would do. Never going back. Switching to Petco. My advice is use someone to greet customers who won't turn the customers away with a rude attitude. read more

I'm considering a pet rat, so wanted to look at their rodent selection as well as supplies. As I walked in, I saw some very happy freshly groomed pups leaving with their owners, and figured that their pets for sale would be in good condition, but was very disappointed. There were flies in multiple rodent cages, especially hamsters. I hope those animals will be better taken care of and that their displays will be improved. read more

I'm only putting 1 star for the Grooming salon. I've tried 3 times to make an appointment for my dog. The appointment was for a haircut and wash. The first time I walked in there they said they had no records of her for an appointment. I let it slide. Made an appointment again a day later and when I took her in they said she was only scheduled for a wash not a cut or nail trimming. Then I said can you please schedule me for a wash a haircut and nail trimming so she did so I went back the next day and the lady that attended me looked like she was having a bad day. She said they only schedule my dog for a haircut and not wash and nail trimming. I really don't know what they do here. If they rush the appointments but my wife wasn't so happy and ask to speak with the manager and she didn't do anything but blamed us. First of all you don't talk to a customer back. My wife hung up and went in the store and the manager wasn't in. I don't recommend the grooming salon here. There customer service sucks and so is there scheduling. Absolutely horrible. I only go there for Banfield hospital I would never schedule a grooming appt with them. read more

Laura at this Petsmart reminded me to price check a bag of dog food with one if their competitors. When the price came back $5.00 cheaper she matched the price. The customer service was poor. The cashier (Brooke) seemed disinterested in cashing out my purchase. I came in because the place I usually go to was going to close before I could get there. I asked the cashier if they price matched and and she stated they would if I had brought in proof of the price. If I went to get proof of the price, why buy it from petsmart in the first place! She said if I have the information next time I can get the price match, but not for this purchase. I guess being a rewards club member is not helpful either. TERRIBLE! We have been customers for 4 years since we moved here from the Bay Area! We brought our sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in today to be groomed and he immediately jumped in my arms as if to say, "Please don't leave me here, they will be rough with me." My daughter and I left for 15 minutes, but felt we should check on him. We walked around the isle to see how he was being treated....(making sure he couldn't see us). He was crying as she had half his body off the table with the harness around his neck! I was furious! Then we saw her reach for her comb and she forcefully combed his ears down so roughly I couldn't stand it...We walked in and asked to take him home even though his appt. wasn't over. I asked to speak to the manager....no apologies were made, but I demanded my money back! Horrible customer service from grooming to the store manager . We will never have Rocky groomed here again. I hope enough people read this. If only our dogs could speak....Pay attention to your dog's reaction as we did PLEASE! I may go to Corporate on this one. read more

I am so beyond frustrated with the service I have received here. First I call to schedule an appointment a few weeks ago there systems were not working and they didn't have the appointment in the system so I didn't get to have that appointment. I then rescheduled it and went in a second time last week and when I got in they advised me that the rabies shot had expired last month which I was unaware of. Would have been great for trek to tell me that when I scheduled my appointment. Then today I go in with my third appointment they asked for my records to show proof and I had them call to verify with the vet and they said I had to wait 48 hours to bring her in because I got her shot yesterday it was not acceptable. I even called yesterday to make the appointment and specifically asked if there is anything I need to bring in as she just got her shots today they fail to mention anything about waiting 48 hours. So frustrating! Very unorganized and not good customer service. Better communication would have saved me a lot of time attempting to come here 3 separate times now. read more

PROS: these are what the 2 stars are for...they have a fairly large collection of quality toys and pretty bad ass selection of aquarium accessories, they carry a few food brands that are good like wellness, blue buffalo.... The return policy is nice too.... CONS: the employees. In general they are difficult to locate when you need help, they lack general drive for providing excellent customer service. This was displayed the last time we visited there. We needed wellness dry kitten food. In the cat food area they had dry wellness but we couldn't find the kitten food. We also couldn't find an employee to locate said food. At the checkout stand we asked the cashier about it and she said they carried the kitten food, we told her we couldn't find it. That was the end of her help. She didn't ask " would you like me to check" or " let me have someone check on that for you". She told us " I saw it back there earlier I thought". So we left without kitten food and decided we could just buy it at Pet Food Express, I much prefer their customer service. The item we did purchase was a wire grate for the back of our station wagon, it was "universal" and was about $80 on sale... We ended up not using it... I went to return it and the only check stand with the light on, this girl was trying to reprint a receipt for a customer... Which I stood patiently.... The other customer was nice and patient, it took a manager and another store associate to figure out how to handle that... Not once was I told " thank you so much for waiting" "thank you for your patience" I stood in line..... Then it was my turn. The girl apparently needed a managers approval because the return was over $50.... A manager shows up... They tried typing in codes to issue my return... Then called another manager who was "already logged in the system" or something only to have the first manager realize she had been logged in the whole time... Still no " thank you for your patience, sorry about the wait" or anything. I am fairly easy to please, just a small amount of excellent customer service goes a long way.... Seriously these big box pet stores are just that, Boxes with people who lack passion or drive, it's like the walmart of pet stores... I really think buying from smaller stores i always feel like I get 100 times better service. Go to Pet Food Express or Ben's Bark Bistro if you're in the area, the customer service is 1000x better,... An employee at PFE read through a listing of all their canned foods to help me find the best food for my cat! Try getting that here! read more

So me and my girlfriend recently just bought hermit crabs and they sold us a dead one before checking it. So we went back to exchange it for a new one and while looking around the store we went to go look at the hamsters and it hurts me to now that they don't check on there animals because one of them was dead. This review is strictly based off my experience when calling to ask about grooming services. The first person who answered was rude and short with me when transferring my call. The person who I spoke to about the grooming services was equally rude. They also were not very knowledgeable in the services they provided and seemed annoyed I was asking questions regarding them. We used to love Petsmart,we knew everyone by name and had the best training and grooming experiences. Within the past year we noticed things were starting to go down hill. We took our 3 pound yorkie in to be groomed multiple times and we noticed he started to become very wary of going in. We brushes it off as nerves from being left with people he didn't know. The last time we took him in they said he would be ready in about 2 hours....5 hours pass and we decide to give them a call. He had been done for a while and no one had given us a call. Now it starts to get interesting, we take our Yorkie EVERYWHERE with us and he never has a problem. He shakes profusely every time we walk in to this petsmart and tries to get away. We decided to take him to another groomer who wasn't able to get him as short as we would have liked because he was extremely nervous. It makes me wonder what they were doing to him in Persmart to get his hair so short and for him to be so skittish. We will NEVER be back for grooming or any other services they offer. read more

Always go to this Petsmart because its close to where I work. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Store is clean and if there is more than a few people in line they always open another register. Prices are pretty high it seems like for dog food. Got 1 big bag and 1 small bag and it cost $77 and I dont even buy the super expensive kind, just mid range! I like Petsmart better than Petco....Petco employees are rude and the store seems dated. read more

Do not spend your money with this company. The service in the Roseville location is unacceptable and they seem not to care about their customers. The cashier Laura was the rudest person I have ever come in contact with in a retail store. She should not be working with the public. She held up the line for a customer who couldn't pay so they left to get more money in their car, yet this Laura lady did not make any contact with me to explain what was going on. I asked her if she could ring me up and she only said no. How can this company hire such rude people? I will never spend my hard earned money there ever again. There is so many competitors out there. I was shocked with the service she gave. she didn't seem to care when I told her that she was being rude to the customers. The manager on duty begged me not to call their corporate office, interesting. Our dog is a Westie, and a fairly easy cut. I had the dog groomed and there were a few things that needed adjustment like the hair on his head not being evenly cut on each side and his backside near anus needing to be shaved as I'd asked. They agreed to make the changes, but decided they didn't like what I'd said so they shaved his body all but his tail and head. I'm very disappointed, but won't go back again. read more

My husband took our large dogs to get a bath and brush, like we have done several times in the past. We have always liked the groomers and they have always been very kind previously. But Juliet was awful!! As soon as he walked in she was very put out and it was obvious she didn't want to wash our dogs. Juliet said" They're really big." "They are going to take a long time to wash."(I had an appointment, and they had a profile , so they knew what kind of dogs they were.) They made him feel awful, he was second guessing himself about keeping the appointment. The grooming salon was empty there was only 1 other dog recieving services at that time. If it was me I would have not left the dogs there. I will never go back and will not recomend this grooming salon to anyone. read more

I told my vet I did not want my dog spayed and she said ok that's fine but my dog was taken and spayed anyway. She is in a lot of pain and is very cold. The banfield staff is rude and disrespectful. Do NOT bring your pet here, the so called "vets" are abusive and don't care about how your pet feels, they just want the money. read more

The customer service at the grooming salon is very unprofessional. I made a last minute app for my baby Misty to get her annual shaving. Shes 18-years-old and in very healthy condition for her age, she just needs a trim because the extra hair makes it more difficult for her to move around. I was late and that was obviously my fault. I don't blame the grooming salon for not wanting to take her late, my issue is the communication. I called to let them know i was going to be late and the receptionist okayed it. I got there and the receptionist took a look at the matted fur and said that it would take a long time and that they were booked for the day, she didn't turn me away right away, she just kept commenting about my being late and that the matted hair was an added problem. If that was the case why wasn't i told over the phone? Then another girl, Sarah, was called over to see if the timing would work and, to my surprise, she said that my being 20 min late was not a problem. But she saw how old my baby is and asked if she could stand up. I told her not for long periods. She told me that it would be even more difficult because she couldn't stand up for very long. Again, why wasn't this discussed over the phone? I've never had this issue with a groomer before, Misty has been this way since she was about 15 or 16 (she has small legs and her age has slowed her down a bit) but shes tough and pretty healthy and i've never had a problem with any of the groomers I've visited before. If the Petsmart groomers have a problem with age, standing up, matting, etc these are questions they should ask over the phone, especially on a busy schedule. It didn't end there. The two groomers went on some unrelated thing that it gets really loud and that Misty might get spooked. They said they were "doing it for her benefit" but it sure didn't seem like it with the 100+ excuses thrown at me. They turned me away and I'm glad I wouldn't trust my baby in their hands at all. HORRIBLE!!! Made an appointment for my 3 yr old yorkie as she was in desperate need for a haircut and her normal groomer was booked for a few weeks out. Figured we could try it out this one time. When we arrived we walked into the grooming area which was very hot and stuffy and just felt dirty! I understand that it is a grooming salon but there was hair everywhere! Even in the waiting area. It looked as though the place hadn't been swept all day and we arrived for our appointment at 5pm! Started to feel a little hesitant about leaving my dog but I just thought maybe I was over reacting. Waited for the customer ahead of us to finish up paying and they started checking us in. The gentleman that checked us in was in the middle of working on another dog and stopped in the middle to get us checked in. He ran though the paperwork real quick and seemed to be super swamped. Then he grabbed a sample showing what different lengths of hair looked like to determine how short we wanted it. I pointed to one and asked what length it was and he seemed completely puzzled and was trying to determine if it was 1/4 inch or 1 inch. Which lowered my confidence even more! I should have known better and just left with her at that point! Once we were all done getting checked in they took my dog and put her in a cage in the back. They told us she would be ready in about 2-3 hours and that they would give us a call when she was done. So we decided to go run a few errands and grab dinner and then we would go check on her and watch her get groomed through the windows. We got back over there at about 6:30 (an hour and a half after dropping her off for her "appointment"). When we walked up to the window she was nowhere in sight and the person who was suppose to be grooming her was working on the same dog as when we dropped her off. We sat down on the bench for a minute and one of the girls walked out to see if we were here to pick her up and asked if they told us it would be a couple of hours. She said it would be at least 3 more hours. I was furious at this point! Why would I drop my dog off to sit in a kennel for a few hours! I told her I just wanted to take my dog now and cancel the appointment all together. They went to go get her and another girl came out and said she could start on her right now. But as of a few minutes ago prior to complaining that wasn't an option?! I said no thank I would like to take her now. Then she informed me that next time we should make an express appointment which is $11 extra but they do not go in a kennel and that they get their full attention. Thank you but no thank you! I will NEVER bring my dog back here again!!! Once my dog was back in my hands she could not get out of there fast enough. She was literally running away from the store and pulling me with her leash. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! I should have stuck with my gut instinct on this one! read more
